On the evening of 20 May...
North Italy was at his home at Venice. He was bored. Really, really bored. He just had finished his meal, which was a bunch of Italian spaghetti and watched some weird Italian Opera. He had tried calling his new fellas from Visegrad and even Russia and Switzerland, but no one answered.
„Maybe I should give up and call Romania..." Northern Italy thought.
Then, his phone rang.
„Hello! Feliciano Vargas here!" the Italian boy spoke as he picked up his phone.
„Hi, cousin!"
Suddenly, N. Italy realised that it was Romania, Vlad Popescu.
Italy asked confused:
„Uhm, hi... again... What is it?"
„You can't believe what is Bulgaria preparing for the Grand Final of Eurovision!" Romania shouted happily.
The Eurovision Song Contest... Every year on May, there was a song contest. Last year, Bulgaria was the winner, so that's why he would host the current one.
„And what is it?"
„A huge party in Burgas! First there will be a really cool flag parade and the singers will be welcomed on the stage! Then, there will be flashmob dances around WHOLE EUROPE!"
Flag parade? A flashmob dance? It sounded amazing!
„Oh, how could I forget about it?!" the Italian boy called „Sadly, that I will not compete in the contest, because of these elections..."
„Elections?" the Romanian asked „How they were?"
North Italy took a deep breath and answered:
„The result was shocking... Now me and Romano are two completely separated nations. It feels horrible..."
„Oh..." Romania exclaimed „That's weird. But don't worry, it's okay. And come on! The contest begins after no two hours!"
„Okay! I'm coming!"
~~~~~~
Eurovision Song Contest: Keeping up the beat... Burgas 2029...
The New Varna Stadium was dark and cold, but full of excited people, who were chanting and waving flags.
From behind, the nations were watching. Most of them were excited too, except for Northern Italy. He was concerned that it was a problem he didn't compete in the contest. He wouldn't compete because of the elections. What a pity.
„Hey!" Romania whispered as he pushed with his elbow to Italy's shoulder „Are you ready?"
„Y-yeah," North Italy said with a shaky voice „But I'm kinda disappointed because I couldn't compete in it."
Hungary crossed her arms over her chest and snapped:
„Better that you aren't in it. That's not a contest, it's a freak show. Wins either the bearded woman, or the political vote, or the dying who challenges compassion, or the pig which makes chicken sounds... Thanks God, I and some other countries will not compete
„Lots of artists are just, like, terrific." Poland said „Just guess what; Sweden is represented by a woman who WEARS A TOTALLY FREAKING BURQA! If she wins, I will totally never participate again!"
„That's weird..." Italy added „What other do you know about it?"
Poland explained:
„Well, the Baltics, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus got robbed at the the Semi-Finals. Malta, Albania, Montenegro will not compete due financial reasons. And also, Norway doesn't too participate because of a scandal related to Sweden's song."
„Shhhhhh, it begins!" Czech Republic snapped.
Then the arena got darker. The only thing which was visible was a mist, which often changed its color from white to green and to red. These colours - white, green and red - represented the Bulgarian flag. Few seconds later, a traditional Bulgarian bagpipe music was played in the background, which was followed by a Bulgarian folk singing, performed by a woman. It was so beautiful.
After this, the arena got brighter. The people inside started chanting even louder and waving the flags faster.
A young man - with short dark brown hair and olive green eyes, wearing black tuxedo - appeared on the stage. This man was the nation of Bulgaria, Milen Hinov.
Next to Bulgaria, Krisia Todorova was standing. She was no longer that little cute girl from Eurovision Junior 2014. Krisia was now a grown up, beautiful young woman. She represented Bulgaria the last year, with a really harmonic and beautiful ballad named „Up", which got 321 points.
„Ladies and gentlemen!" Bulgaria called at the audience „Now from Burgas..."
„Welcome to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2029!" Krisia Todorova shouted happily.
After this, the show began. The instrumental of the „Up" started playing in the background, and in the middle, there was a young woman wearing white-green-red dress. She was spinning a glow stick, which was turning into the flag of each participant.
After the first 10 participants were welcomed on the stage, one really famous and well known Bulgarian singer would sing on the stage. The very opening of one of his most famous songs played in the background and Bulgaria started:
„Edno, dve, tri*... AZIS!"
That singer, Azis walked on the stage, with female dances around him. He danced during the intro of the song, and sang the first verse of the song "Sen Trope".
After the end of the singing performance, the welcoming of the participants continued:
The first country was Ireland, and the last - Armenia.
Bulgaria and Krisia Todorova were still standing on the stage, looking at the audience.
„We have an amazing night together." Ms. Todorova said.
„And let's make it even more amazing!" Bulgaria added.
Krisia Todorova shouted at the public with excitement and happiness in her voice:
„Are you READY!"
„YEAH!!!!" the people in the arena chanted.
Bulgaria tried to stop the too loud chantings:
„Please, be quieter!"
In time, the chants faded away.
Romania went closer to Northern Italy and whispered:
„It begins now..."
Suddenly, a cool, electronic melody began playing in the arena.
Bulgaria smirked and said:
„Europe... It's time to dance..."
The people in the arena started chanting even louder and waving the flags.
Then, a beautiful woman, a famous Bulgarian singer walked on the stage. She was Galena, and she was performing her 2014 song „Havana Tropicana".
The song was accompanied by flash mob dances at various locations. The first one took place at New Varna Stadium, where the event was held; a huge group of people danced, during the first chorus of the song. Some of them waved the flag of Bulgaria and the EU.
The dance in the Arena Burgas was followed by collective dancing by hundreds of ordinary people (in order of appearance) at Celle di Bulgheria (Southern Italy), Skopje (Macedonia), Helsinki (Finland), Novi Sad (Serbia), Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Budapest (Hungary), Kaliningrad (Russia) and Lisbon (Portugal).
Later, additional celebrations were shown (in order of their appearance, again) from Ireland, The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Israel, Serbia, Germany, Ukraine, Great Britain, Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Belarus, Poland, Greece, Czech Republic, Finland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Russia, Romania, Iceland, Cyprus, Denmark, Portugal, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Australia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Georgia, Austria (with Conchita Wurst being there, lol) and Malta.
There was also a special appearance footage of the Canadian actress of Bulgarian descent Nina Dobrev dancing to the song.
Meanwhile in Berlin, Germany... There was a huge dance party in a disco, which was aired live on the TV.
And a little footage of a old grandma dancing alone, but cheerfully on the beach near Black Sea.
The additional celebrations continued with footages from Cyprus, Italy, Norway, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Armenia and Latvia.
Hours later in New Varna Stadium...
All artists have already performed their songs. There were total of 28 performers: Anna Kearney of Ireland, Ynel Regalo of The Netherlands, Next Time of North Macedonia, Noa Kirel of Israel, Sava Ciplic of Serbia, Jan Und Die Otten of Germany, Oksana Mukha of Ukraine, Daniel Davies of the UK, Rebekah Osmansson of Sweden, Charlotte Foret of Belgium, Abdul of Spain, Liza Musnikova of Belarus, Niki Yannouchou of Greece, Aino Morko of Finland, 4Magic of Bulgaria, Nadja of Russia, M.C.R of Romania, Eleonora Geyser of Iceland, Lars Andersen of Denmark, 2U of Portugal, Jean the Rooster of France, Dawid Podsiadło of Poland, The K-gooroz of Australia, Lia of Switzerland, Giorgi Rostiashvili of Georgia, and Laura Hayrapetyan of Armenia.
Now, it was time for the voting. All participating nations would be given 12 points.
The first country to vote was Lithuania, Teresa Lorinaitytė, who won back in 2027, a year before Bulgaria's victory. She ended up 9th in 2028, but sadly, Lithuania didn't qualify this year.
"My twelve points go to..." Lithuania began "Iceland!"
Iceland, Emilia Steilsdottir, was so happy. She jumped from her seat, together with her performer, Eleonora Geyser - a Norwegian-born Icelandic singer and... drag queen. However, she was quite talented and her song "Ice queen" was okay.
The next country to vote was Greece, Heracles Karpusi.
"Twelve points go to... Go to..." Greece started searching in the pockets of his jeans, making the other nations to laugh. But then, he said "To Australia!"
Australia, Jet Kirkland, started waving the Australian flag highly, and he shouted:
"THANKS, MATE!"
Belgium gave the third vote:
"I give twelve points to... Sweden!"
"My twelve points," Cyprus votes "go to... Sweden!"
Another 12 points to Sweden and Rebekah Osmansson started to smile more and more.
England, Arthur Kikrland, smirked and said:
"I'm going to give twelve points to... SWEDEN!"
For third time, Sweden got 12 points. And why his song was so popular? It wasn't something special, just a burqa-wearing woman who sang that she must remain "free"... It was so meaningless.
Iceland would be the sixth country to vote.
"I'm so thankful for tonight, I really like this event, but..." she said "My twelve points go to... POLAND!!!"
Poland's reaction was, like, totally high as a kite. He was really proud of himself. His song, sang by Dawid Podsiadło, was kinda funny and catchy; it was called "Love through Europe" and sang in English, German, French, Italian, Russian and Polish.
"Twelve points to..." Estonia said "FINLAND!"
Finland's reaction was exactly like Poland's. Finland and his representer, Aino Morko, hugged each other, while several Finns who were sitting witn them, began to wave the Finnish flag. Finny also had a cool song, it was named "My homeland" in Finnish and the lyrics represented a dialogue between the country of Finland and his people. Sadly, due to its 'racist' and 'depressing' message, it wouldn't make it in even in top 15.
Hungary voted as well:
"Twelve points from my jury. Go to... POLAND!"
Poland got 12 points for the second time. And it was from Hungary, his best friend, which made him even happier. A Pole and a Hungarian - brothers be...
"Twelve points from me," Denmark, Matthias Køhler, started "go to... Israel!"
Israel, Talia Kohen, smiled and told Denmark:
"Thank you very much."
Poland is moving up the chart, but Sweden is still in lead.
Latvia, Raivis Galante, another nation which failed to qualify to the finals, voted too:
"My twelve points go to... Denmark!"
Congratulations to Denny. His song wasn't something special as well. It was slightly like Sweden's, a WTF song called "Welcome to Denmark", but it was still better.
Ukraine, Olena Chernenko, said:
"My jury gives twelve points to... Denmark!"
Denmark got 12 points again.
France's time to vote came:
„Le douze points vont á... L'ALLEMAGNE!!!*"
Woah! Germany just got his first 12 points. And they were from his friend and neighbour, France.
This year Germany was represented by Jan und Die Otten, and the song was named "Magic". And, yeah, it was a magic: a really bad attempt of pop-opera, like Bulgaria's entry in 2009... How it got into the finals, only God knows...
It was now Northern Italy's round to vote:
"Ve~ Thank you for this amzing night! It's one of the best events from Eurovision's history, despite that I don't compete in it. And... twelve points go to... RUSSIA!!!!!!!!!!"
Russia smiled and laughed, with his eyes closed:
„Thanks, comrade!"
Several hours later...
Finally, the winner would be announced. The leader in the chart was Sweden, with Iceland, Australia, Poland and Israel behind him. Sve had total of 246 points, all were given by Western, leftist nations. Iceland had 236 points, Australia got 231, Poland 227 and Israel - 221 points.
In the beginning itself, there was a some kind of „prediction" that Sweden is going to win, and it seemed so. Iceland was also a potential winner, and it caused a fight between Iceland and Sweden.
„I'm the winner!" Icey yelled.
„The victory's mine!" Sve shouted.
Meanwhile, the hosting country, Bulgaria, tried to stop the fight:
„Ice! Sve! Stop fighting!"
Suddenly, the Televoting Screen became glitchy. Everyone in the hall looked at the Televoting Screen, with surprise, some with fear.
„W-what's going on?!" Romania asked horrified.
Then, the screen became normal again. The only difference being that a nation was showing there. It was a Nordic nation, close to both Iceland and Sweden.
„NORWAY?!" The Eurovision participants exclaimed.
Norway, this time wearing glasses and drinking coffee, was surprisingly, the last nation to vote.
„Hello, everyone," he said quietly „I'm realy sorry for my absence. I really wanted to participate in this contest, but as everyone knows, Breivik doesn't want me to be a part of ESC 2029."
Just five months ago, when Norway was about to chose his Eurovision song, that lone-wolf spree attacker - Anders Behring Breivik, boycotted Eurovision in the prison. The reason? Sweden's presenter...
~~~
"Our broadasters shouldn't show a burqa-wearing thing which doesn't have gender identity, according to Mr. Breivk," one Norwegian journalist explained on TV days ago before the Grand Final "In his opinion, this can brainwash Norwegian youth, and since he is a prisoner, we had to comply with his wills."
~~~
"Well," Norway said "And my 12 points go to... ICELAND!!!"
Iceland's violet eyes widened. She got tears in her eyes, but a happy smile on her face.
"Thank you, guys!" Icey said with excitement in her voice "Thank you so much!"
Sweden 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012 and 2015; Norway 1985, 1995 and 2009; Denmark 2001 and 2013; Finland 2006... And Iceland 2030, Icey's first victory ever, making her so happy.
"Thanks, God," Poland exclaimed "That burqa-wearing shemale didn't won!"
Everyone congratulated Iceland for her first victory. ESC 2031 was expected in Reykjavik, Icey's beautiful little capital, and Italy promised himself that he will participate in the next contest. And who knew? Maybe, he would win next year. But no one was aware that something may happen. Something really, really bad.
