Hey. I know I haven't uploaded anything in awhile so after about three years you finally get chapter 2. Please enjoy.

Sherlock's POV:

As I sit on the sofa watching little Rosamund play snakes and ladders inventively with Mrs Hudson who appears to be losing her 10th game in a row, I feel John's gaze on me. Oh how I wish he would love me the why I love him. Stop it Sherlock your being silly, John is straight you know this. Come on man, get over it. Eight god damn years and your deductions still conclude straight, you don't stand a chance with him. "Sherlock, can I speak with you outside for a second?" John asks quietly. I nod my head slightly before standing up and walking towards the corridor outside the apartment. John closes the door behind him to prevent Rosamund from listening in, although you can't blame a child for being curious it's all part of their nature and necessary for them to develop well. What so I have taken time to study parenting and how children grow, I'm a child too you know. So what if the famous Sherlock Holmes got curious about a small simple life form I only wanted to learn something new and keep an eye on Rosamunds' development so I could be sure she was hitting all her milestones at the right time in her right all right, so Rosamund makes me aware that I have a heart that makes me care for the small being but let's not go public about it.

Anyway back to John wanting to talk about something. "Sherlock are you even listening to me." John says annoyance strong in his voice. "um what? Sorry John I was busy thinking about the guests and if I have invited everyone here for 12 O'clock or not." I respond with some honesty. I mean so what if I thought about guests last night and not just now. "I was just asking you where Rosamunds' gifts are." John asks quietly. "Well considering the fact that I was asleep on the sofa when you arrived instead of my room, I would of thought it to be obvious as to one location for them and considering the fact my kitchen doors are shut. Honestly John when do I ever shut those doors." I whisper my response with agitation in my tone. "OK, fair points. Sorry for being stupid, I should have noticed but I didn't and ugh."John comments his high stress levels clearly getting to him. I wrap my arms around my short friend in attempt to calm him. "Now now John, don't stress yourself out. If anyone should be sorry, it's me. I'm sorry for throwing a hissy fit over your question when all you wanted was confirmation. I was very wrong to do that. And as for this you being stupid business. Well it a load of rubbish, you may be human and you may not see a crime scene in the same detail as me but that doesn't make you stupid that make you diverse." I proudly apologize. To be completely honest it feels weird to say sorry but in a good way. John looks up at me in disbelief which makes me smile. "Are you ill?" He questions with a very serious look on his face. "Tip top shape doctor, nothing wrong with me" I respond with a small chuckle. "Sherlock Holmes doesn't: smile, laugh, apologize or say extremely nice things to anyone or for anyone." John comments in utter shock. "Perhaps not John. However, it is more likely the fact that you daughter is having a strange effect on the man you see before you. The man you think you know." just as I finish my little speech the door bell rings."ah, that shall be the Lady's guests" I say in a posh voice before gliding down the stairs and heading for the door. Before open the door, I hear John say:" the Lady's guests? What ever next: a marriage proposal?" then the sound of my front door opening and closing shortly after. I smile at Johns' comment before greeting the guests:"Hello, delighted you could all make it. Hope everyone is good with a Chinese take out for dinner." I say cheerfully before stepping aside. "Thank you Sherlock" Molly says as she walks past me."Your in a joyful mood brother" Mycroft comments with one eyebrow raised. "Yep take out is fine Sherlock. Not even going to ask about this emotion of yours" Lestrade says confused at my behavior. "well you see, I sent my emotional system to a computer shop who realized it needed replacing so they sent me a new one, I placed it in the old brain box and boom. Emotional system up and running." I jokingly respond. All three guests stop and stare at me half way up the stairs. "I'm going to go find the birthday girl" Molly says in shock before running up the stairs to my apartment. "did my brother just crack a joke?" Mycroft asks with concern. "it appears that he did" Lestrade answers before both men run up to the apartment in total disbelief. I turn to face the door only to be greeted by the annoying face of... yep, you guest is Anderson. What the hell does he want? "Oh hey Sherlock, don't worry I'm not staying long just wanted to drop off this kiddie science kit for Rosamund it says 6+ but I'm sure that if you do it with her she will be alright. Sorry it isn't wrapped up, couldn't afford wrapping paper." Anderson says uncomfortably before handing me the science kit 'My little skeleton'. COOL it even has little labels on the bones so she can see what the proper names are. I look up at Anderson after placing the box down by the stairs and taking my wallet out of my pocket. Carefully, I remove a ten pound note and hand it over to him."Here you go Anderson, take this and get yourself a proper meal, don't worry it's not a trap." I say with a smile on my face. "Thank you Sherlock." Anderson whispers with watery eyes before taking the money and walking away with a small smile on his face. I quickly close the door before grabbing the present from Anderson and running up the stairs.

As I open the door to my apartment, I feel all eyes land on me. "UNCLE SHERLOCK" Rosamund squeals in excitement. "you took forever" she says before smiling her adorable little smile that makes me smile back. "What's that?" Rosamund asks as soon as she spots the science kit I have in my hand. I crouch down to her level before presenting the box to her: "This Rosamund, is a birthday gift from my friend Anderson, who has a habit of being slightly annoying. He thought you might like to put it together with me." I respond honestly. "Aw he got me a little skelly thingy." Rosamund says happily before grabbing the box and dragging it over to John because the box was a little to big for her to pick up properly. "Daddy look Andyson brought me a skelly thingy that I can build with Sherlock." She says pointing at the skeleton on the front of the box."WOW. Let's put it on the coffee table and you two can build it after dinner." John says enthusiastically. "OK" Rosamund responds before running over to Molly who decided to place herself on the floor. "Hello birthday girl, would you like to do my hair" Molly asks taking down her high pony tail. Rosamund nods before walking behind Molly where she begins to style her hair. "gentle, gentle, gentle" Rosamund mumbles to herself.

"Sherlock a word outside please?" John asks before walking out to the corridor again. I follow closely behind and close the door after me. "Yes John" I start. "Are you sure you are alright? It's just all three of the guests came up and said you made a joke about an emotional system or something. On top of that I found a book on parenting down the back of your chair." John questions, concern very strong in his voice. "I'm fine doctor really. So I made a joke and I have a parenting book, which for your information I have read through several times for our... um.. I mean your daughters' benefit." I respond. We look into each others for a moment before retreating back to the apartment.

John's POV:

Did Sherlock just call Rosamund, OUR daughter? Does he want children? Does he like me romantically? Awkward. Well looks like I could be getting a lot more out of tonight then expected. John! No stop it, man that is gross. It's Rosamunds Birthday today is all about her not you. Now is not the time to think about the love life you could have with Sherlock. Nope never gonna happen.

Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. What do you think is gonna happen next. Feel free to comment below. Sorry if Sherlock seems way to out of character, Rosamund is causing him to use more of his heart so yeah, blame the birthday girl.
