"You know I don't sleep well as it stands," Gaara batted the idea away. Kakashi curled up one leg and extended the other. He watched the Kazekage shuffle his weight from foot to foot.

"That's why naps could help. Just try it once," Kakashi said firmly. Gaara still looked unsure, but he crawled between the older man's legs. It was strange to Kakashi, who had just witnessed the Kazekage positively ream a group of jounin on a failure that has almost cost one their life.

He was now crawling into Kakashi's lap like a docile cat. Kakashi startled as he noticed Gaara staring at him.

"Hm?"

"Doesn't this make you want to do something else," Gaara asked in a deep voice, sliding his hand up Kakashi's thigh. His eyes looked predatory even in the semi dark, like those of a tiger shaded by brush, alert and listening for a catch. Kakashi closed his eyes and remembered that while they weren't exactly in public, it was not like no one ever visited the greenhouse at this hour.

"As much as it does," Kakashi agreed, grabbing Gaara's hand and pulling his lover forward, "You need a nap."

Kakashi had only been given a seven day leave, and Gaara had been working three of those days already. He was determined to get even a moment alone with this kid. It was not like he could get it when they were together in Konoha, or even in the streets of Suna. Gaara kept his distance, which Kakashi was fine with it at this moment. He didn't need headaches, he just needed the Kazekage's presence.

Gaara curled up against his chest, positioning himself carefully, "Am I doing this right?"

"Are you comfortable?"

"Mm," a slight shift.

"Then you're doing it right."

A short silence. More squirming.

"Any break in the reform today," Kakashi asked, trying to distract Gaara's over active mind into a calmer state.

"Barely," Gaara grumbled, "I've got at least some of the elders to admit that training, education, and welfare of children cannot be a competent system if it's privately owned. Doesn't mean they'll stop trying to line their own pockets before death."

"You could always have them-..."

Gaara pinched his arm lightly, "Then I would be no better. I want things to change, not disappear."

Kakashi passed a loving hand through Gaara's hair. Naruto's effect had been good for him. They nattered back and forth to one another about policy and money, improving quality of life in the desert, and Naruto's antics. Gaara's responses began to slow and peter out. Eventually, Kakashi could hear his heartbeat slow down. He leaned his head against the smooth bark of the tree behind him and gently caressed his lover's hair.

"Temari," Gaara's voice came out of his throat firmly. Kakashi would have startled if he wasn't used to Naruto's sleep talk. He debated on answering but Gaara beats him to it.

"What should I get him?"

"Get who," Kakashi asked. Gaara rubbed his cheek on his chest but didn't answer.

"Why is it so hard," Gaara asked.

"What's hard," Kakashi asked, somehow still trying to find answers. There was a long pause, during which Kakashi gave up trying to make sense of the ramblings of the younger man.

"Kashi," the Kazekage sighed.

Kakashi paused, peering down at the delirious and deeply asleep Kazekage. He waited for Gaara to elaborate, but long minutes passed by in cool silence. Kakashi hoped his pounding heart wouldn't wake him.
