"Varian," Rapunzel stood somewhat frozen in the doorway, seemingly not sure of whether she should enter his room or not. "What happened to you hair?"
"Oh, that?" He gave out a nervous laugh, absentmindedly running a hand through his short, uneven hair. "Uhmm..." He looked for the words for a second, before finally just grabbing the scissor and waving it. "That happened."
"But- why?" Rapunzel finally stepped closer. One hand hovering over his head as she looked over his hair, after a few more seconds she finally touched it, running her hand over it. Varian flinched lightly, at the sudden touch of comfort, leaning into the touch as discreetly as possible. "Are you okay, Varian?" Rapunzel looked at him with a worried expression, moving her hand down to his cheek, caressing it with her thumb.
Varian felt a lump in his throat, and his eyes sting lightly. He bit his lip without even thinking about it. Before he knew it, Rapunzel had pulled him into a tight hug. "You don't have to tell me what's wrong. Just know that I'm here." Varian returned the hug, thankful that Rapunzel couldn't see his face right now, thought, she could probably feel the tears falling on her shoulder, but she didn't step away.
"Thanks." He mumbled into her shoulder, leaning into the touch more. They stood like that for quite a while, neither of them worrying about how long it had been, before Varian finally pulled away.
Rapunzel looked at him with a soft smile. Running a hand through his hair once again. "It's not that it doesn't suit you... it just different." She let out a small laugh. "And really uneven." She pushed his shoulder in a playful manner, and Varian couldn't help laughing with her. It was a bit silly.
"Want me to fix it up for you?" She offered, still smiling. "I've got quite some experiences with haircuts." She flipped her hair jokingly. He nodded, another smile forming at the tips of his lips, as he handed Rapunzel the scissor. "But if you make me bald, I'm gonna have to find my old automaton plans." He joked, giving her a bright, playful smile.
"That's fair." Rapunzel laughed.
