Carmel's stomach rumbled. Leaf-fall has been harsh on her, especially after she became too heavy with kits to properly hunt. Her last meal had been some crow food another cat left behind, and that had been dawn yesterday. Joining the ignorant clan that had laid claims to this part of the forest started seeming like a better and better idea. At least there she would have food. She stood up slowly, pain shooting up her entire leg as she put pressure on her hurt paw. She went to leave the fox den she had been sleeping in, but stopped herself when she heard voices outside her den.
Must be another one of those patrols. Carmel thought to herself. The clan cats were paranoid, patrolling their borders every couple of hours. She also had noticed since her father had taken power in the Twoleg place that the patrols had increased in size. A normal patrol back then had about two grown cats and one big kit. A patrol now contained three grown cats and two big kits. Sometimes they would even bring an leaf-cat.
Carmel pressed herself toward the back of her den as the voices grew louder. Only a couple more tail-lengths and she would be discovered. She prayed to the gods they would not find her. The gods either weren't listening or ignored her, because next thing she knew a small golden she-cat tumbled into the den. The she-cat got up quickly, before scanning the den. Her eyes widened when she saw Carmel. From outside another voice called.
"Amberpaw? Where did you go?"
Amberpaw. A big kit. Carmel realized. If the she-cat decided to fight, Carmel could probably beat her. Before she could get too much further, a black tom poked his head into the den. His amber eyes watched her, almost sizing her up. While Carmel could take the Amberpaw, she couldn't take on the second as well, or any of the big cats outside. She had no choice but to surrender. The second big kit watched her, almost waiting for her to attack. Instead, Carmel lowered her shoulders in defeat.
"I wish to join your clan." Amberpaw moved her gaze from the second big kit back to Carmel. Her eyes remained wide. From outside Carmel could hear the grown cats scrambling to see what was going on inside the den. After watching her for a moment, the second bit kit backed out of the den. Another cat poked their head in the den. This time it was a large grey and white tom. He watched her coolly with his amber eyes, before giving his response.
"Follow me," was all he said before leaving the den, Amberpaw in tow. Only once Carmel fully left the den could she see the patrol. Besides Amberpaw, the second big kit, and the grey and white tom there was a black and white she-cat, a scrawny brown tom, a calico she-cat and a dark grey she-cat. The calico she-cat smelled of herb, revealing she was a leaf-cat. The patrol set off immediately, heading in the direction of their camp.
AN: Just letting you all know, I have created a schedule for writing. I'm hoping to upload once a week, whether it be in my Wattpad account (username: NinjaMud) or here on Fanfiction. Also, if anyone has rogue/Twoleg place OC's they want to see in a story, feel free to submit them in the reviews area! Please format something like this: Name, rank (kit, queen, leaf cat, etc. Deputy and leader already taken), appearance, personality, family (if they have any), and if they were to join a clan, warrior name. Thanks in advance!
