Chapter 2: New Beginnings
7:00 in the morning*
Obi Wan gets up to do his daily run but quietly leaves so he doesn't wake up Anakin.
Obi Wan exits the apartment*
"What a wonderful day to run" Obi Wan said. He decides to go for a long run because he doesn't start work till 12:00 and wants to clear his mind for a bit.
On the run Obi Wan starts contemplating and realizes "shit", he didn't tell Anakin that he has a job and works at 12 today, he told him that they would do something fun today but he won't be home till 6:30 at night. "Well, maybe he will feel okay without me and maybe he will do something fun on his own", said Obi Wan with optimism.
Anakin finally wakes up*
"Obi Wan", he says
no answer*
Anakin starts to feel worried that maybe his friend left him and didn't like him or maybe even worse that he died. Anakin decided to check the whole apartment and saw no sign of Obi Wan and fell to the ground and began to cry.
"My only friend left me, I don't think I was made to live in this life, everyone just ignores me like I'm trash", Anakin sobs.
Then a door suddenly opens and Obi Wan enters "Hello There", he says. Then he sees Anakin on the floor crying.
"Hey Anakin are you alright what happened", said Obi Wan worriedly. Anakin looks up to see his only friend Obi Wan looking right back at him.
Anakin feels a sense of happiness and relief and embraces Obi Wan.
"You didn't leave me", said Anakin
Obi Wan looked confused "well first of this is my apartment, I just went for a run to clear my mind and second of "why would you think I would abandon you." Anakin looked at Obi Wan with tears in his eyes.
"Ever since I woke up to this new life I felt like I was nothing and everyone treated me like trash, so I thought you became one of those people", said Anakin crying.
Obi Wan looks at him "Anakin trust me I will not leave you, you are my true friend." Anakin feels so much joy in himself "thank you Obi Wan".
"Don't mention it. Hey Anakin I'm going to make some breakfast would you like some as well", Obi Wan said.
"Sure I would love some, thank you again," said Anakin. Anakin then decided to watch tv while Obi Wan was cooking them both breakfast. While Obi Wan was cooking he kept thinking how Anakin will react that he has to go to work, will he be mad or forgiving.
10 minutes later*
Obi Wan yells "breakfast is ready", Anakin gets up immediately and then sits down. Obi Wan brings him a plate with eggs, bacon, buttered toast, home fries, and orange juice. Anakin devours the food yet again before Obi Wan gets to start eating his. As Obi Wan sits down he decides to finally tell Anakin the problem.
"Anakin, we need to talk", said Obi Wan with a serious tone. Anakin's mouth was stuffed with food he says with all the food in his mouth "go ahead". Obi Wan takes a deep breath and says "Anakin you know how I said last night we would do a lot of fun things today." Anakin looks at Obi Wan still chewing on his food "mhm".
"Well plans have changed I have to go to work at 12, so you will be on your own till 6:30 at night", says Obi Wan hoping he doesn't mind. Anakin spits his food all over the table "WHAT". Anakin's eyes were wide open "What am I going to do by myself I need you with me you are my only friend, I can't go back out there everyone treats me like I'm nothing, but I know I'm not", says Anakin stressed out.
Obi Wan looks at Anakin "it will be alright Anakin, you have to learn that I won't be with you all the time and that you have to be alone sometimes." "Plus you can do so much like ANAKIN, WE ARE IN THE CITY FOR FUCK'S SAKE, you can do almost anything you want just go and have fun by yourself I promise you that we will do something when I come back". Anakin then says "fine Obi Wan I will try, I hope your right."
Obi Wan then looks at him says "Okay Good I will clean this mess up, then I will have to get ready for work". "Okay" says Anakin as he goes back to the couch and continues watching tv.
15 minutes later*
"Alright Anakin I'm leaving for work, please take my advice and enjoy yourself, talk to some girls or go shopping", says Obi Wan. Anakin waves to Obi Wan "see ya later friend, I will take your advice." Obi Wan smiles then leaves to go to work leaving Anakin alone. Anakin feels sad being alone but remembered that Obi Wan said that he will have to face this later on anyway so he fought his feelings.
Anakin decided to himself that he will watch tv till 12:45 then take Obi Wan's advice and go out and explore the city.
Anakin was just finishing watching a cartoon and looked at the time and it said 12:45 and Anakin thought to himself "well let's go and explore the city." He gets off the couch and he puts on his jedi robes and leaves the apartment.
5 minutes later*
Anakin is now walking in the middle of town and stops to look at how tall the buildings were and the amount of people walking. He felt a little nervous inside because he doesn't have Obi Wan by his side but calms himself down. He decides to walk into a clothing store named American Eagle.
18 minutes before*
"Padme let's go out cmon, are you still thinking about him, I thought you were glad you broke up with him after all he did to you", said Sabe. Sola tells Sabe to wait outside and says "don't worry I will get Padme just wait here".
"Ugh Fine", said Sabe.
Sola enters Padme's room and sees Padme sitting on her bed with her hands covering her face. "Cmon Padme you have to stop thinking about him, let's go shopping. You can get a nice outfit because tonight we will do something together." Padme looks up wiping her tears "your right, Clovis was a dick to me, I am better without him."
"There you go Padme, now how do you feel if we go to American Eagle, I heard they have a BOGO sale today," said Sola.
"That would be great anything to clear my mind," said Padme.
Padme and Sola exit the apartment and meet up with Sabe*
"You good now", said Sabe
"Yeah Sabe I'm fine thank you," said Padme.
18 minutes later*
Anakin enters American Eagle and is astonished by all the clothing. They seem unusual too him. He then looks up at a sign that says "BOGO sale on any clothing item", Anakin stands there confused. Until a woman comes up behind him "need any help", she says. Anakin turns around nervous because he doesn't like to talk with anyone by himself without Obi Wan with him.
"Yeah, but what is a BOGO sale". She chuckles "it means that anything you buy you can get another one for free," says the woman.
"Um can you actually help me find some clothes", says Anakin nervously. "Sure" says the woman.
"Btw what is your name", says Anakin
"My name is Ashoka, what is yours."
"Nice to meet you Ashoka, my name is Anakin."
"Okay, now let me help you find some clothes, do you know what style you typically comfortable with", says Ashoka. Anakin looks at her with wide eyes "um what do you mean by style."
"Like casual, fancy, hipster, emo, sporty, etc." says Ashoka smirking.
"I don't know i don't really have one, I guess", says Anakin.
"That's fine i will pick clothes from each type of style then you can try, and you can choose which ones you like", Ashoka says
"Okay sounds great", says Anakin
Ashoka then goes around the store collecting different types of clothes, while Anakin waits for her to return. She decides to grab a fancy shirt, a t-shirt, a hoodie, joggers, cargo pants, and dress pants.
"Okay here are a couple of items, how about you try these on and choose which ones you like", says Ashoka.
After 10 minutes of Anakin trying and testing different combinations he decides to get the t-shirt, hoodie, and joggers.
"Good choice, they are very comfortable and looks good on you." says Ashoka.
"Thanks" said Anakin.
She then brings Anakin to the counter and tells him to wait for her coworker to ring him up because he was ringing someone else up at the moment and Ashoka had to help someone else.
"Thanks again Ashoka", says Anakin.
"No problem, hope you like your outfit."
As Anakin is waiting in line Padme, Sola, and Sabe enter American Eagle unaware that the guy who beat up Clovis was there.
"I can help whose next", says the worker.
Anakin then sets the clothes on the counter and the worker scans the items.
"Your total is $65.83 would you like to use cash or credit". Anakin stood there confused and reminisced to the time with the hotdog guy.
He didn't have no dollars except his republic credits from his other life. He thought to himself that he should've asked Obi Wan for cash but was invested into watching what was on tv.
Anakin then decides to give the worker credits. The worker gives Anakin a furious look. "Do you think this a joke", says the worker. Anakin looks at the worker won't credits do fine there are the same aren't they. The worker then takes the clothes and says "GET OUT OF THE STORE", this catches Ashoka, Padme, Sola, and Sabe's attention. As the approach the front of the store they stop to see who it is.
They three women gasp as they see who it is.
"Its the guy from last night, who beat up Clovis, and he took the handsome guy out of my arms", says Sabe.
"Yeah your right it is him", Sola says agreeing with Sabe
Padme stands there in shock and her body is giving her an awkward feeling that she just wants to be in his arms. Sola and Sabe look at Padme "Are you okay", they say.
Padme trying to hide her feeling says "Yeah, i just zoned out, still trying to clear my mind off Clovis."
"Well the guy who beat up Clovis is right over there", says Sabe.
Padme trying to act suprised in front of her friends says "OMG yeah it is."
Ashoka runs to the counter "What is going on here."
The worker says "Well this idiot is trying to scam me with fake currency to buy this outfit. Anakin looks around to see everyone looking at him and becomes embarrassed and ecides to run and leave the store passing by Padme, Sola, and Sabe not noticing them.
"Wait, Anakin" says Ashoka. She turns to her coworker "why did you flip on him like that."
The coworker says "well he tried to scam me, what do you think i would've done instead give him the clothes for free."
Ashoka walks away in frustration.
The three girls are suprised to see Anakin run out of the store like that. Padme felt really sad for him and just wants to be with him to comfort him.
Meanwhile*
Anakin is running like he never did before back to Obi Wan's apartment cutting through traffice and almost getting hit multiple times but he didn't care. He just wanted to get back to the apartment.
*3 minutes Later*
Anakin reaches the apartment and enters it then immediately jumping on the couch, starting to sob again. "Why can't I do anything right, all I do is embarrass myself even more. I tried to explore the city but I can't, not after what happened in that place."
Anakin lays on. the couch trying to remember his past and why he was given a second chance. "Why couldn't I just be one with the force, why was I given a second chance, why couldn't someone else receive it, WHY ME." Anakin then grabs the remote still sobbing begins to watch tv. He realizes that watching tv calms him down and appreciates it more.
"Why can't Obi Wan be here", Anakin says getting tired.
It was 4:00 he was getting tired and began sleeping on the couch. Anakin was out for so long that Obi Wan was right at the door.
door opens*
"Hello There", says Obi Wan
Anakin doesn't answer. Obi Wan then decides to go up to him and shake him till he woke up. Anakin feels someone touching him and jumps up "AH, WHOSE THERE".
"Its me Anakin", says Obi Wan
"Oh hello Obi Wan, I was just resting, I had a long day. I took your advice I went out and explored the city and it didn't go well", says Anakin. Obi Wan then sits down on the couch next to Anakin and gives his full attention to him, "Anakin tell me what happened."
Anakin then started to tell the story "Well I walked into this store called American Eagle."
"Oh that's one of my favorite stores good choice", says Obi Wan.
"Well someone saw me standing there confused and decided to help me buy an outfit, she said her name was Ashoka, idk but she was nice", Anakin says
Obi Wan face lit up "wait Anakin, what was the girl's name again."
Anakin looks at Obi Wan confused, "Uhm Ashoka but why does that matter."
"Anakin Ashoka is one of my close friends we knew each other for a long time, you should've told her you were my friend", says Obi Wan
Anakin confused "how was I supposed to know you knew each other"
"Oh good point", says Obi Wan
"Well let me finish my story, as I was saying she helped me find an outfit then brought me up to the counter and asked her colleague to ring me up. Little did I know I only have republic credits."
"Anakin you should've asked for money, I would've gave you some", says Obi Wan smirking. Anakin looks at Obi Wan
"Well sorry I'm new to this life how should I know what currency you people use", says Anakin frustrated.
Obi Wan looks at Anakin "Sorry for pissing you off but continue on with your story."
"Well I didn't have any money so I gave the worker republic credits and they flipped out on me causing people to come and see what was going on. They told me how stupid am I and then Ashoka came to see what was going on. The worker told her that I was an idiot trying to scam her", says Anakin
"I looked around to see people staring at me, I felt so embarrassed that I sprinted out of the store to your apartment almost getting hit by cars", says Anakin starting to sob again.
Obi Wab places a hand on Anakin's shoulder "I'm so sorry Anakin, I wished I didn't have work today I would've explored the city with you."
Anakin looks at him reassuringly "Its ok Obi Wan, it's not you fault you told me one day that I was going to face life by myself."
Obi Wan smiles "Hey how about we go to Annie's Ice Cream I heard they have good ice cream and who doesn't get happy with the sound of that."
Anakin wiping that tears still left on his face said "sure, well let's go then."
Meanwhile*
"Padme is this shirt nice", says Sabe. She wants to find the handsome guy at the bar and impress him.
Padme looks at her "it looks great how much is it."
"Its originally $37.00 but because of the sale it's now $24.98." says Sabe
"Well that's good", says Padme.
Sabe turns to Padme "hey how about you pick out a nice cardigan because we are going out tonight and you can impress some new hot guy", says Sabe.
"Well I was looking at this one cardigan that I'm going to buy but it's not for the purpose for impressing new guys Sabe, I just broke up with Clovis I think I should give myself a break", says Padme defensively.
"Okay whatever you say", says Sabe rolling her eyes.
Sola comes back over to the girls and says "how about we go get ice cream at Annie's before we go have fun."
Padme and Sabe look back at Sola and says "That's a good idea let's go."
The girls pay for their clothing and begin their way to Annie's.
Meanwhile*
Anakin and Obi Wan just entered Annie's and found a table with 2 seats by the window. Obi Wan and Anakin both sit down.
"Well Anakin are you ready to order", says Obi Wan.
Anakin says "sure I will go up with you." They both go up to the counter.
"Hello welcome to Annie's what would you like to order", says the worker. Obi Wan turns to Anakin and says "What would you like Anakin." Anakin looks at the menu confused and then decides "You know what Obi Wan you choose something for me suprise me." Obi Wan smiled "don't you worry I got you."
"I will have two mint chocolate chip soft serves in bowls please", says Obi Wan
"That will bring your total to $6.75. Are you using cash or credit", says the worker.
Obi Wan says "Credit" he pulls out his credit card swipes it then puts it back in his wallet.
"Okay you soft serves will be coming shortly", says the worker.
2 minutes later*
"Here ya go gentlemen, enjoy" says the worker with a smile.
Anakin and Obi Wan both respond with "thank you" and return to their table by the window. Anakin and Obi Wan both delightfully enjoy their ice cream.
"So Anakin looking for any girls or anything", says Obi Wan chuckling.
Anakin sat there thinking then says "No not at the moment. I'm trying to get used to this life before I start talking to women."
"Well Obi Wan how about you, I saw how that girl at the bar looked at you, are you looking for women", says Anakin curiously. Obi Wan looks at Anakin nervously.
"No Anakin not at the moment either." Anakin gives Obi Wan a look
"Uh huh", says Anakin.
"What's that supposed to mean", says Obi Wan.
"Oh nothing", says Anakin smiling.
Obi Wan smiles back "well I'm glad that we are friends."
"Same here, if it wasn't for you then I don't know how I would be in this world right now", says Anakin.
Obi Wan felt good inside due to Anakin's compliment "Thanks Anakin anything I can do to help a friend."
They both finished their ice cream and Obi Wan got up to throw it away.
"Well Anakin how was it", says Obi Wan hoping that he says it was great.
Anakin smiles "It was really good Obi Wan, you have great taste in ice cream."
"That's good to hear", says Obi Wan.
Then Padme, Sola, and Sabe enter Annie's and find a table for the three of them.
The three of them all go up to order and then sit down to delight themselves with the ice cream. As there are enjoying their ice cream Padme glances around the place and her eyes stop on Anakin.
Her body began to feel warm and she began to blush but did her best to hide it. Sola and Sabe said "What are you looking at Padme", they said curiously.
Padme trying to hide her blush says "nothing just was looking at how beautiful the city looks at night."
"Oh yeah your right it is beautiful", says Sola. Padme then feels a sudden rush of relief that her friends didn't notice her attraction towards Anakin.
Ever since the incident between him and Clovis she always wanted to sit down and get to know him, but everytime she felt like she wanted too he left.
"Well Anakin I'm going to use the restroom and wash me hands right quick I will be right back", says Obi Wan.
"No problem Obi Wan take your time", says Anakin
As Obi Wan left to go to the bathroom Anakin looks out the window and notices how beautiful the city looks at night. He begins to vision how life here now isn't so bad because Obi Wan is helping him through his tough time of being new to this world.
"Padme! Sabe and I are going to use the restroom we want to touch up our makeup before heading back out and having a fun time", says Sola.
"Okay, I will wait here for you", says Padme.
"Alright", says Sabe
Now Padme feels relieved that her friends are gone for a bit. She them glances back to see Anakin looking out the window. She starts blushing again until she sees his dreamy blue eyes turn and face toward her. She decides to put her head down and start looking at her phone.
Anakin noticed Padme looking at him but didn't recognized who she was. As he looked back to the window, Padme begins to look at him again trying to control herself not to but she couldn't resist how handsome he looked.
Obi Wan then returns to where Anakin was sitting.
Padme then decides to look back at her phone. Then Sola and Sabe return back to Padme.
"You ready to go Padme", says Sola
"Yes, but I'm going to order another ice cream to clear my mind from Clovis because I still keep thinking about the breakup", says Padme
Sola and Sabe feel suspicious of how Padme looks is using the breakup as a excuse for something but they both disacknowledge it. Padme goes to order a small chocolate ice cream cone to go while Sola and Sabe were waiting outside.
"Anakin you ready to leave", says Obi Wan.
"Yeah I'm good to go if your ready", says Anakin.
As Padme is leaving Annie's she trips and is about to fall face first on the pavement until she felt someone save her.
She got back on her feet and then turned around to see it was Anakin who helped her. Padme was in shock and didn't know what to say but just noticed how good looking he is.
"Are you alright", says Anakin.
Padme choking on her words says "Yeah, I'm fine thanks for saving me".
"No problem", says Anakin smiling
This causes Padme to blush and Anakin notices it but doesn't worry about it.
"Sorry about your ice cream cone, would you like another one", says Anakin
"I'm fine thank you though", says Padme. She then turns to her friends waiting for her. She looks back at Anakin.
"Well I better get going, my friends are waiting for me", Padme says still blushing.
"Well have a good rest of the day", Anakin said smiling yet again.
Padme then returns back to her friends and they go to enjoy their night.
Anakin turns to see Obi Wan looking at him with excitement. "Well Anakin", says Obi Wan
"Yeah what", says Anakin confused.
"What do you mean yeah what, you just talked to a nice looking girl who is interested in you and you act like you do that on the daily", says Obi Wan
"I mean all I did was save her", Anakin says.
"Well trust me I see you too talking to each other more and more in my eyes", says Obi Wan laughing.
Anakin stood there confused.
"Anakin that is the girl whose boyfriend you beat up remember", says Obi Wan a little frustrated.
Anakin finally realizes that is why she was interested in me and looking at me. Not gonna lie that was a good conversation I had with her.
"Oh yeah", says Anakin.
"Let's just go Anakin I kinda wanna get a drink at the bar right now",says Obi Wan.
Even though Anakin was tired he decided to listen to Obi Wan and go to the bar and have a drink.
5 minutes later Anakin and Obi Wan enter the bar and find seats*
"Anakin you want me to choose a drink for you", says Obi Wan laughing.
"Nah I think I'm good now", says Anakin smirking.
"Ok suit yourself. Hey can I get a shot of Jack Daniel's Whiskey", says Obi Wan.
"Coming right up", says the bartender.
Obi Wan then drinks the shot "ahh love that taste."
"Well Obi Wan that's your preference, because honestly that tastes terrible", says Anakin
"Anakin you don't know then the true taste of a manly drink", says Obi Wan laughing.
"What would you like", says the bartender
"May I have a shot of vodka", says Anakin.
Obi Wan turns to Anakin "you picked vodka haha, are you serious."
Anakin says "What's wrong with vodka, it's way more manlier than whiskey."
"I find that hard to believe", says Obi Wan defensively.
"Well you can keep thinking that Obi Wan", says Anakin feeling happy that he gets to spend time with his true friend.
Anakin receives his vodka drinks it and looks at the bartender and says "may I have another shot of vodka".
Obi Wan says "hey you know what give me one more shot of whiskey."
1 minute later* They both receive their shots. They both turn to each other raise the glass and Anakin says "for friendship".
"for friendship" says Obi Wan. As they both drink their shots.
Anakin yet again looks at the bartender and says "another shot please." Obi Wan looks at Anakin and wants to tell him to stop drinking but realizes that he must learn what happens when you drink too much.
"That's all for me", says Obi Wan.
Anakin turns to Obi Wan smirking "what you done already you only had 2 shots."
Obi Wan looks at Anakin smiling "Well I ain't going to be the one regretting their decision later tonight."
Anakin goes through 5 more shots and finally tells Obi Wan he is done and ready to go home. Anakin is dizzy and drunk so Obi Wan has to help Anakin back to his apartment
7 minutes later*
Anakin and Obi Wan enter the apartment and Obi Wan puts Anakin on the couch to rest. "Have a good night Anakin", says Obi Wan tired and ready for bed.
"You too", says Anakin.
As Obi Wan enters his bedroom he knows that Anakin is drunk and will regret what he did in a few hours. It was 12:30 at night so Obi Wan knew it was going to happen.
2:30am*
Obi Wan wakes up to hear someone run to the bathroom and start throwing up into the toilet. He goes to check and sees Anakin kneeling on the floor in front of the toilet throwing up.
"Told you, you were going to regret what you did", says Obi Wan chuckling.
Anakin turns his head "very funny". He gets up from the floor starts brushing his teeth. After that he passes by Obi Wan still laughing and says "Good Night Obi Wan."
"Good Night Anakin", says Obi Wan smiling.
As Anakin makes his way onto the couch he starts to think about the conversation with the girl at the ice cream place. He realizes how beautiful she was and that he never asked for her name. Anakin stopped thinking about it and finally fell asleep.
He felt like now he has meaning in this new life.
