Chapter One
I have endured. Through many trials and tribulations, I have survived. It's hard, with the job I have. Especially in the Outer Rim, hunting the most dangerous criminals alive and trying not to become one myself. Many have died. My friends. My family. I will have revenge. But how can I? Dooku and Grievous are dead. During the days of the Old Republic, the Separatists killed my family. With the Separatists gone, I have no one to take my anger out on. So I turned to this job. Being paid to deliver criminals to justice. It's hardly enough to make a living. I'm a Mandalorian, so I can fight. But how can I? There's no one to fight. Since I'm new to this job, the people don't entirely trust me. They aren't willing to give me the dangerous, high-paying jobs. I wish I could earn their trust. It's hard. How can I if they don't even notice I'm there. I should stop ranting and get to the point. I have to gain their trust.
"Well?" came the voice. "Are you finished yet? We need to hurry before the target gets away. He's the key to our success. Without him, we just lost our way into the Bounty Hunter's Guild. This is the test we have to take before we get in."
"Fine," I responded. My companion was a Dathomirian female, an accomplished Bounty Hunter, and a powerful warrior. She claimed to have killed Jedi in the past, but I didn't believe it. As far as I knew, the only people who had killed Jedi were Sith and Clones. She probably wasn't a Sith and all clones were male, so she probably hadn't killed a Jedi.
I reached into my belt, pulled out a pair of Macro Binoculars, of Jedi make, and scanned the horizon. Nothing. My companion had given the Macro Binoculars to me; it was the only evidence she had ever given me about the whole Jedi killing thing. It didn't prove anything, though, considering you could buy one of those things for a good price. I didn't fully trust me, but she was trying to accomplish the same thing as me: get into the Bounty Hunters Guild. And the only way to get into the Guild is to capture a target. This one was a Toydarian criminal, who had escaped from eighteen prisons and killed thirty Bounty Hunters. I should probably explain the terrain. We were on the desert planet of Tatooine. Being here meant that he would be weakened. The target's name was Narshe Tarbaske, and was incredibly dangerous. Being a Toydarian, he could fly. This made it harder to track him, but it doesn't matter when during your previous encounter, you put a tracker on him.
"There!" I thought. Off in the distance, I noticed a city. The signal was coming from there. I dashed towards it, my companion following. You may be wondering why I call her that, but she never told me her name. We raced towards the city, hoping to find Narshe Tarbaske there.
