The wedding day had finally come.

The transparent veil covered Cosette's head as an impalpable fairy touch, and it could be seen that the very fine fabric really existed only thanks to the silver fiber border.

Cosette's blonde hair had been untied and revealed a gorgeous, radiant young woman.

Soon, very soon, she would have married the great love of her life, that Marius who would have collected her wounded soul and would have cuddled her up to cause a tender love in the girl.

One thing, however, had wanted Cosette, an important change to her dress.

And now she was there, in the church of the Germa Kingdom, in front of relatives, friends, work colleagues, employers.

Judge was impassive, in the front row.

His children were just behind him, smiling and a little bored, but not Niji.

Not Niji.

The electric blue-haired boy had immediately noticed a detail on the young bride's dress.

On the bodice had been decorated a hyacinth, a scarlet hyacinth.

The ceremony went on without a hitch and the spouses found themselves catapulted out of the church submerged by everyone's laughs and good wishes.

Cosette, however, had not yet put things to an end with fate.

While Marius was grappling with the good-natured jokes and hugs from his fellow cooks, Cosette stayed a little behind and looked for Niji.

Here he was, leaning against one of the imposing columns of the building.

"Prince…"

"Apparently your husband got mobbed..."

"Yes, he will be stuck there for a while..."

Niji became serious.

"You liked the scarlet hyacinth, as I can see."

The girl blushed a little.

"Yes, it's a pity that it wilted after a few days... On the dress it will last forever..."

With her fingers she stroked the beautiful crimson floral decoration on her bodice.

Niji's beautiful face became even more shady; he turned his back on her.

"You know... The scarlet hyacinth is a symbol of forgiveness. I'm not an expert, I don't understand human emotions and I'm not good at passing on my pride. That's why I gave you that flower. So that you can forgive my badness."

Cosette was speechless: normally a gift wouldn't have been enough to overlook that pain, but with Niji it was a completely different music: since when did the Vinsmoke soldiers have been interested in tender and in some ways frivolous things like flowers? The Vinsmoke soldiers were more people that trampled flowers... They didn't pick them, let alone understand their intrinsic meaning.

"Be happy."

Niji's wish, so sincere and melancholic, was yet another stab to her heart. Inside was his inability to understand what a heart pounding was, there was perhaps a note of resentment towards a father who had wanted his children like this.

Cosette wouldn't have wanted at that moment, but in a flash she thought about what it could have been hadn't it been for Vinsmoke Judge.

A tear ran down her face as Niji walked away with his siblings.

"Cosey!"

Marius picked up and twirled her.

She laughed, feeling safe in the arms of that good man.

Despite everything, she felt light: she had put things to an end with her past, and she had done it with a scarlet flower.
