Chapter Two
"What did you tell her?" Seto asked calmly, keeping his gaze on his girlfriend.
"Well.." Serenity started. "I told her that I'd bring you over for her to meet you in person." she replied, already predicting her boyfriend's reaction. "I even asked Mokuba to come along as well and…"
Seto stood up and just looked at her, he wasn't too angry, just more disappointed and annoyed. The last thing he wanted to do was see her mother, especially on Christmas. "What the hell-...why, Serenity? You know she hates me, not to mention you living here. It's just going to be unnecessary drama." he warned.
"She doesn't hate you, Seto." Serenity countered, getting an eye roll from her boyfriend. However, it was a bit of a stretch to say she doesn't hate him. "She just...hates us living together. She's from a whole different generation than we are."
He remembered listening to Serenity argue with her mother over the phone and her crying afterwards. He couldn't stand to see her cry, which made him resent her mother without having to meet her. "No, we're not going." he decided.
"Seto!"
"I don't see why we can't spend Christmas in the mansion...or I could take you anywhere in the world for Christmas and we'll stay at a hotel." he bargained. "Whatever you want, just anything but your mom." Serenity refused however.
"No, Seto...this is important to me." Serenity stated. Seto glared at the woman to show how much he disapproved, but Serenity just ignored it. She looked into his eyes with her warm, hazel ones. "Please Seto? I'd really like for you two to meet…"
Seto felt himself beginning to soften up as his girlfriend gave him the puppy dog eyes. He could never seem to resist them after two years of being with her, it touched him in a way. "K-Knock it off..." he muttered, trying to avert his gaze. Serenity only stood up and got closer as she wrapped her arms around his torso in an embrace while still looking at her much taller boyfriend.
"Come on...pleeeease?" she begged.
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"I said no."
Serenity released him, much to Seto's relief and disappointment. He enjoyed having her close but he knew what she was trying to do and believe it or not, he was going to say yes. However, the sweet, adorable redhead had one last resort up her sleeve, he was bound to say yes after this offer.
"Good, now let's drop this whole subject and put it behind us."
"Guess I won't model this Mrs. Claus costume I bought the other day." Serenity stated, giving a shrug.
Kaiba immediately froze in time, processing what he just heard. Serenity saw this and placed her hands on her hips, smirking at the upper hand she had. It was guaranteed that he would comply with her wish. She wasn't lying though, she really did purchase it to surprise her boyfriend, which she planned on showing him eventually, but now she had no choice.
The man turned to her. "You really have it..right?" Seto asked, making sure she wasn't pulling his leg. Serenity reached under the bed at the exact spot she hid it and revealed a pink colored shopping bag. Seto recognized it from the lingerie shop he would take her too sometimes and he damn well knew they haven't been very recently.
"So what's your answer?" she asked, slyly pulling out a scandalous Mrs. Claus outfit from her bag, complete with peppermint colored stockings. Seto was speechless, it really was there and she was going to model it for him.
The man was going through an internal battle. "I never want her to feel sad, but her mom hates me. Serenity's always arguing with her. I just want to protect her... Besides..what if her mutt brother comes along and brings that kid of his? That thing is a monster..." he shuddered. "Although…" he started, looking at Serenity and then that outfit she held as if he was under a spell. "Maybe..just maybe..I'm overthinking it. It could be nice not having to work, plus she'll be happy that I said yes."
Seto gulped, before masking it with a fake cough. "Well um...my answer is still no." he answered, trying to hide his obvious blush. "But um..maybe if I see you in that outfit I might..change my mind."
The woman knew exactly what to do. "Then I'll be right back." she started before heading to the restroom, making the CEO anticipate in excitement.
"Why the hell did I agree to this…" Seto thought as he was driving his personal red sports car rather than taking the limo. He saw Serenity next to him in the passenger's seat talking to her brother over the phone while Mokuba was in the back asleep. He was on the road for hours and admittedly, he was getting tired of driving. Although he didn't want Serenity driving for so long and Mokuba was still too young, so he was the only option. Fortunately for them, he was almost there.
Seto just drove in silence while listening to his girlfriend talk to her brother. "We'll be there soon. When did you arrive?" she asked Joey.
"We actually arrived last night. I can't tell ya how hard it was travelin with the baby." Joey Wheeler answered over the line. Kaiba heard his voice over the phone and started to feel irritated. He'd have to spend a whole week with him overnight, which drove him insane. "By da way, where you guys at?"
"We're almost there, Joey." Serenity replied. "I'm so excited to see everyone! How are they?"
"Well mom's with the kid and Mai's wrapping gifts early." the blonde man answered. "Hey is Kaiba a safe driver? You guys didn't crash right? Right?"
"Is it too late to turn back…" Kaiba thought.
"Joey, of course he's a good driver!" she defended. After talking for a couple of minutes, Serenity hung up her cell phone and then faced Seto with a smile. Seto looked back at the girl, giving her a small smile in return. He could see the sun radiating on her, giving a glow to her long, orange hair and soft skin. She looked absolutely beautiful, especially when she smiled.
"What?" he asked.
The redhead nodded. "Seto..please promise to be nice." she said.
Seto faced the road to pay attention. "Listen, if she gets on my case about us then I can't promise that." he warned truthfully, causing Serenity to sigh. "but...I'll try for you."
Serenity smiled, he was going to try for her at least. She wanted to show her mother the real Seto, the kind, honest man she fell for. "Thank you for doing this..I know you're having doubts." she said.
"Well...it's only a week and I didn't want you going alone on Christmas. Besides, how could I have said no to that...wonderful display." Seto grinned, remembering that Mrs. Claus outfit she had that night. He was a man, he couldn't help himself. Despite what anyone said, he had urges and needs, but only for her of course.
"Seto!" Serenity scolded. "Your brother is in the back." she reminded him.
Seto rolled his eyes as he placed a hand on her thigh, giving it a slight squeeze. "Oh please, he's asleep. Although according to my coordinates..." he started, looking at his Kaiba Corp GPS. "We're almost there."
"I know.." Serenity smiled. She couldn't lie to herself, she was feeling nervous as well. She was sure her mother had a ton to say and there was a possibility that they might clash. However, she at least had him beside her for support and that's all she needed. Besides, she was going to see her family, which was a reason in itself to be happy.
After driving for some time, Seto finally arrived at Serenity's mother's home. He could see the excitement in Serenity's eyes as she saw her home after so long. Seto however was surprised, the home was rather...tiny and simple, something he was definitely not used to.
"We're here!" Serenity cheered as Seto parked in front of the house. He then turned to his brother, carefully shaking his leg.
"Get up, Mokuba. We're here." he instructed.
The younger Kaiba brother felt himself waking up slowly. "W-we are?" he asked before yawning. "Wow...it doesn't feel like I've been asleep long.." Mokuba rubbed his eyes, gaining his eyesight. He started to take in his surroundings of being in a small neighborhood hours away from his home.
"So which one's your house?" Mokuba asked, looking at the homes.
"It's right there." said Serenity, pointing to the house in front of them. Mokuba looked over to the tiny home, equally as shocked as his brother.
"Damn, this house is tiny!"
