I didn't date this in the original story because I didn't have the name of the author, but credit for this goes to Little Mockingjay for creating "The White Mage," the inspiration for this story.

These events happen during chapter 11(same as the original). In the second half of the chapter, Callum and Rayla have to deal with a group of young moonshadow elves who have been following them. Given that Callum just lost it with Amer, and Rayla had to witness that, here is how I believe that confrontation would have happened.

I did my best to stick to the original story, but certain parts of the encounter were changed, along with my own alterations. Spoilers ahead.

They arrived at the infirmary just a few minutes after Callum finished with Amer. Rayla hated that. More specifically, she hated seeing Callum being thrown into such a rage that he nearly killed someone. Callum was so loving and kind, if he had— she stopped that thought. She shuddered a little bit, she didn't want to think about what would have happened to him if he had crossed that line.

"Rayla, are you okay? You're shaking." Callum sounded out of breath. Rayla just smiled at him, helping him into a chair. "I'm fine, don't worry abou' it." Callum gave her an extremely skeptical look. "If you're gonna look at me like tha' I can finish destroying that hand of yours." Callum laughed at that.

Rayla was not amused, as a matter of fact, she was very serious. Her initial fear had worn off, now she was mad at him for hurting himself like that. "Callum, I'm serious." His smile slowly started to fade. "Look at what ya' did to yer self! I mean, why, how? How could you do that?"

"It's fine Rayla, my connection to the Sky prevented me from seriously hurting myself, it's only an after effect. Pure surface damage." He wiggled and flexed his finger for emphasis. "Not only that, but I think it looks kinda cool." He looked back up at her scowling face with a goofy grin.

Rayla's scowl dropped and she sighed. "Callum—" he cut her off "it looks worse than it is, I promise." Rayla punched his arm playfully. "I know dummy, you told me that already." Callum still hadn't lost that goofy grin. "Callum, please don't look at me like tha'. We, ah, we need to talk."

"Uh oh, is this the good kinda tall or the bad kinda talk?" Rayla rolled her eyes internally, later, she could talk to him about her feelings later. "It's the kinda talk where I figure out how to bandage your hand." He bought the distraction. "Oh, well like I said, pure surface damage. I think just a regular bandage should work."

Rayla quickly bandaged his hand. "There you go, now please, don't do that again." Callum stood up from the chair a little too quickly, and nearly fell over. Rayla rushed over to help him. "Careful now, don't hurt yer self again." Callum chuckled a little bit. "How can I hurt myself when you're around to protect me?"

Rayla rolled her eyes. "Sappy prince." Callum turned to leave, but turned back when he realized Rayla hadn't followed him. "Rayla? Aren't you coming?" Rayla was staring at the floor. "Rayla?" She looked at him, slightly startled. "Oh uh, yes, no, I don't know."

Callum cocked his head to the side. "Rayla, what's bothering you?" "Callum we need to talk, seriously this time." Callum was beginning to get the sense that something was really off with her, she never acted like this unless something significant happened.

"Rayla, just tell what's wrong and I can fix it." She looked into his eyes, tears beginning to form in her eyes. "It's not something you can fix jus like tha'" she snapped her fingers. Callum pushed. "What's the problem?" Rayla looked back to the floor, but when she brought her head back up to face him it was lined with tears.

"The problem is you Callum." He was shocked. "Me? What did I do?" "I, oh how do I put this, Callum, listen." He sat down again. "When you raged like that at Amer, I mean. I can understand what you felt, I felt the same way when I thought I learned my parents ran away. But Callum, when you started laying into him like that, I was scared."

Callum was utterly shell shocked. His facial expression said as much. "Callum, I hated seeing you like that, I wanted to help you, to be there for you. But the way you were going, I mean you nearly killed him fer cryin out loud! It was terrifying!" Rayla had tears in her eyes. Callum stood up and pulled her close. He held her in the tightest hug he could muster after being nearly drained from almost killing Amer.

Rayla cried into his shoulder. "Please Callum, don't scare me like tha' again." Callum whispered in her ear. "Never again Rayla, I love you, you know that. I'm so, so sorry I scared you. I promise that it won't ever happen again." He wiped the tears from her eyes and kissed her. "I love you too." Was Rayla's only reply, and she kissed him.

They left the infirmary a long while later, Callum needed time to regain his strength, and walked back to the main room. The skywing elf had returned and was waiting for them. "Queen Zubeia wants to see you two in her chamber, she didn't tell me why though." Rayla thanked her and motioned Callum to follow her. Callum took her hand and they entered Queen Zubeia's chamber together.

"Ah, Rayla, good to see you. Callum, I hope that you are better?" Callum nodded. "I—" He looked across at Rayla, who returned his look and he put an arm around her before addressing the Dragon Queen again. "We, are better."

Queen Zubeia smiled, as much as a Dragon can smile. "Good, I'm glad to hear it." She returned to a serious tone. "You two have some visitors." This piqued their interests. "Oh?" "Who?" They both said at the same time, causing them to blush a little bit. Queen Zubeia chuckled to herself a little bit. Ah, young love, she thought to herself.

"In answer to both your questions, the moonshadow elves that have been following you around. They are in the holding chambers." The light light and interest in their faces immediately dropped to annoyance. "Please do try to go easy on them."

Then her tone got serious. "I don't want anybody to be physically hurt, understand?" They nodded their agreement. "Good, I'm going to get some much needed rest. Come back in an hour or so, we still have much to discuss." They bowed and left.

Callum and Rayla reached the holding chambers. They had already decided how they were going to deal with the moonshadow elves that had been bothering them. Queen Zubeia has stressed that no one was to be physically hurt, she said nothing about mentally or emotionally.

The guard posted outside gave them warning, the prisoners were restless and likely to attack. Rayla smiled at the guard. "Tha's good, this visit would be extremely borin otherwise." Callum drew two runes in the air. "Celeritas Incremento." Now they both had increased speed and reflexes. "Ready?" Rayla asked. "Yes. I think I'm going to enjoy this, actually." Rayla chuckled. "You remember everything I thought ya'?" Callum smiled at her. "How could I forget?"

The holding chamber was a blank room, not unlike a prison cell in the lack of anything present. Callum was ready for how they instantly jumped at him. They didn't know he had increased speed and reflexes, so they were surprised at how he expertly dodged all of their attacks.

"We only want to talk." Callum dodged a kick. "Please calm down and listen." He dodged two more kicks and an attempt to tackle him. "If you are done embarrassing yourselves, please, sit down." He sidestepped another attempt to tackle him sending his would-be assailant careening into the wall behind him. Callum sighed. "Fine, Aspiro Everro."

A strong gust of wind blew the other four moonshadow elves into the wall, next to the moonshadow elf that just tried, and failed miserably to tackle him. One Aspiro Frigis later and all the moonshadow elves were frozen against the wall.

Rayla watched the entire scene unfold before her. From her position leaning against the entrance, she watched Callum deal with the rouge elves. She could have sworn some of them looked familiar but couldn't quite place it.

The elves were so busy with Callum, they didn't notice Rayla just standing there. They only broke their focus on Callum when she pushed off the wall and spoke to them. "You call yourselves moonshadow elves, yet you jus' been bested by a human. How does that make you feel?"

One of the elves turned his head to her as she took up a position beside Callum, arms crossed just like his. "Rayla! Get away from him!" That voice, she recognized it. She took a closer look, his skin just lighter than Ethari's, spiked hair and markings like lightning bolts under his eyes.

Rayla groaned, both audibly and internally. "Why are ya' here, Sirus?" Her tone suggested that this conversation was over before it even started. "Don't answer tha', I don't want to hear you speak right now." She said as Sirus opened his mouth.

She took Callums hand. "Guys, this is Callum, as you now know, he's-" "A human." Another elf sneered. He had short hair, his bangs feathered into spikes. His markings were simple lines beneath his eyes. "Now they are infesting Xadia again!"

"Infesting?" Callum gasped with mocking shock. "Oh no, we humans would never do that." Sirus practically growled at Callum, which only made him smile.

"We don't know what you did to her, how you managed to charm her and the Dragon Queen, but your little game ends here, human." Both Callum and Rayla laughed at this. Reminiscing about Rayla being accused of kidnapping the princes. The change in perspective was amusing to them both.

Rayla quickly dropped the laugh and threw on a tough act. "For your information, Sirus," Rayla seemed to be growing more annoyed by the second. "The only thing Callum did was stand by my side when you all dropped me withou' so much as a second thought." Rayla snarled at him.

"He stood by my side when no else did." Not even Ethari she almost added, but that would have brought up too much pain. She couldn't, and wouldn't, cry in front of them. Callum, sensing her distress, moved closer to her and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't touch her." Sirus growled. "She's mine."

This greatly intrigued Callum, along with the eye rolls from his friends and Rayla. He gave Rayla a teasing smirk, and gave Sirus a very real one. "An old fling of yours Rayla? Should I be jealous?" As he asked the last question, he made a point, a slow and arduous point, of moving behind Rayla and holding her close.

He was gloating, Rayla knew it. Their original plan to deal with this group went out the window the moment she recognized Sirus, but this was a way better plan than the one they had to begin with. "I told you she was mine human! Get your hands off her!" Sirus shouted at them, but they were only half listening.

"Oh I don't think so Sirus," Callum moved his left hand down Rayla's back slowly, eventually reaching her backside. "Not anymore." Callum, again made a very arduous point, squeezed her ever so slightly, a movement not unnoticed by the group of frozen elves. This sent Sirus into a rage.

"I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD FOR TH-" he was cut off by Callum casting another freezing spell. This time, over Sirus's mouth. Rayla, catching on to what he was doing, smiled at him. "Thanks for tha' quiet love." Then she pulled him in and kissed him on the lips, long and hard. Smiling even more Into the kiss hearing the protests of the others.

"You know, if he wasn't a human, this would actually be kind of cute." said a female with longer hair than Rayla's, and her eyes flanked by crescent moons. "He's a human Kiara, he's clearly corrupted her!" The elf with spiked bangs and line markings snapped at her. "The Rayla we know would never have left the others to die, and fought alongside and befriend humans!"

Rayla was pissed after that declaration. "You don' get to talk abou' The Rayla we know!" She shouted at the elf, instantly shutting him up. "You ghosted me without even bothering to hear my side of the story, you dropped me like I was some piece of trash!" Sirus, who still had ice over his mouth preventing him from speaking, glared at Callum.

Callum just glared right back at him. "Got anything to say Sirus?" He leaned over to the elf putting his hand next to his ear. "No? I thought not." Callum enjoyed this far too much, he knew he should stop lest he accidentally cross another line. But after seeing Rayla's outburst he needed to put these elves in their place.

"This isn't something you would understand, but I just lost my home today, I crossed lines I didn't even know existed." He stared each of the elves down in turn, Rayla backing up his glares. There was a knock at the door. "Bring him in." Rayla told the guards, and a sunfire elf, beaten, bloody, and half-dead was dragged into the room.

"This is Amer, he went to Sol Regem and had him burn down my entire home." Callums voice was deadly. Rayla had to hold back her urge to help Callum suppress his rage, they needed to get their point across, severely. Any movement like that would jeopardize that. She made a mental note to talk to him when they left.

"W-what happened to him." Asked another female elf, whose hair was pulled back into a ponytail, with star markings under her eyes. Callum stared her down with no mercy, doing the same thing he did to Amer, encasing his hand in lightning. "This is what happened to the man who hurt not only me, but my brother, my friends, and all of my people." He pointed a finger at Amer that crackled with lightning.

"Had I not stopped myself, I would have thrown him off the spire." All of the elves' faces grew pale. "However, if you hurt her again." He pointed to Rayla. "I doubt I'll be able to stop myself." Rayla's eyes went slightly wider. She wasn't expecting that, she silently begged Callum to stop, he had made his point already. But Callum continued on.

"You treated Rayla like trash, you don't get to judge her decisions on who she loves, or who she decides to befriend." He cast the lightning spell, breaking the ice that encased the elves, but not hurting them. All of their faces had gone deathly white, all except Sirus. Rayla silently sighed her relief, Callum wasn't going to hurt anyone.

"How did you do that? Where's your primal stone?" One of the other elves asked. Sirus's face was still red with rage after being brutally shut out of the conversation. Callum on the other hand, still wanted to flaunt his power one more time. "Manus, pluma, volantus." The runes on his arms glowd for a second before the sleeves of his shirt tore off to reveal a set of large mage wings. All of the moonshadow elves gasped as they looked at Callum, who had a eat-shit grin on his face.

Callum did a small twirl for them as he replied to the elf. "What primal stone? I didn't know I needed a primal stone to do magic." This sent Sirus over the edge. Sirus swore at Callum under his breath, low and filthy. Callum couldn't hear what he said but Rayla's better hearing did.

Both of Rayla's swords were out in an instant. "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!?" She jumped on him and held her swords at his throat. "Say that again Sirus, I don't think Callum heard you." Her voice was colder than the ice they had just been trapped in.

At this point Sirus's entire body was as white as the moon. "I-id didn't s-say anything." He stammered out. "I thought so." Rayla backed off, and stood by Callum, who put a wing around her. "Oh and Sirus, say hi to your dad for me, he's goin' to love this." With that, both Rayla and Callum walked out of the holding chamber, shutting the door behind them.

"So, what did Sirus say?" Rayla had to turn her head to hide her blush. "Ya' really don't want to know." Callum grinned. "That bad huh? Who knew moonshadow elves talked so dirty." Rayla's face grew even more red. "Just keep walking, stupid prince."

Callum laughed, but kept pressing on. "I wonder, can you talk that dirty then?" Rayla's face was about as red as a tomato, but she whirled in Callum pulling him close and whispering in his ear. "How abou' we go back to our room, and I show ya' jus how dirty I can talk."

It was Callum's turn to go red in the face as he chuckled nervously. "You know on second thought maybe it's just the guys who have bad mouths you know not that I would but I'm just saying." He was rambling, but Rayla just smiled and kissed him. "Stupid prince."
