A/N: Oh, Tony, what did you do wrong now? It always seems to be Tony who screws up in this ship. Hmm. Let me fix that: how about Steve did something wrong for a change? ALSO: I will be replying to reviews at the end of each chapter because I don't feel like replying individually. Sorry if you don't like that sort of thing...
Okay, I want to clarify a few things about this story. Just to be clear, this is a post-Endgame AU, which means: obviously Tony isn't dead and Steve didn't go back to spend a life with Peggy; Loki is alive because I'm rewriting Infinity War so he died with the Snap; Tony has adopted Peter Parker and because Tony and Steve are dating Peter just thinks of both of them as his dads; Coulson is alive (which is technically canon - watch the Agents of SHIELD TV series) and dating Clint; on that note, Clint's kids are adopted and cared for mostly by an old friend of his (same woman that is his wife in the canon MCU) while he and Phil are busy working; and all the main Avengers plus Peter and Loki (who is sort of an Avenger but not really...?) live at Avengers Tower now. Just in case anything was at all confusing. Assuming I haven't confused you more. I'm going to shut up and let you read the story now...
Dislaimer: If you recognize it, it's not mine.
Chapter Two: Please Don't Take My Heart Away
"What did I do?" Steve sounded genuinely confused.
"You've done a lot," Tony retorted coolly. "Which instance would you like me to point out?"
The other Avengers quickly vacated the room, not wanting to be caught up in one of their arguments.
"Tony, what's wrong?" Steve asked. "Why are you mad at me?"
"Mad? What gave you the impression that I was mad?" Tony refused to look at him. Peter was the last one out of the room, casting a worried look back at his dads before disappearing to go hang out with Clint and Coulson - who was actually home for once - until they'd calmed down.
"Please. You've only been giving me the cold shoulder all morning," Steve muttered. "D'you think I wasn't going to notice?"
"I hoped," Tony shrugged, still determinedly looking anywhere but at his boyfriend.
"Tony. What the hell did I do that offended you so much?" Steve asked, the confusion evident in his tone.
Finally Tony looked at him. "Have you read the news yet, Cap?"
That's when Steve knew something was really wrong. Tony only called him "Cap" on missions or when he was extremely pissed off. Like now, apparently.
"No," Steve said, a sinking feeling in his gut.
"Bucky," Tony growled.
Oh, shit, Steve thought.
"What about Bucky?" Steve would defend his old friend until his last breath.
"The news headline last night was that people had seen him with you," Tony said.
"We hang out occasionally, we're friends, what's the big -"
"The report was that the two of you kissed," Tony cut him off.
"What?!" Steve exploded. "Where the hell did some reporter get that idea?"
"Were you drunk? Was he drunk?" Tony questioned, his eyes flashing. Steve knew he hated Bucky, but he also thought Tony had been trying to forgive the man.
"Tony, I can't get drunk," Steve reminded him. "Serum, remember? As for Bucky, no, he wasn't drunk. We hung out the other night, but we stayed clear of bars. Bucky doesn't have much of a taste for alcohol anymore, though he'll get himself drunk occasionally. Last night was not one of those nights. Besides, Bucky's dating someone."
Tony still looked skeptical. Steve sighed.
"Look, nothing happened last night except Buck and I caught up on our lives since the Endgame. Bucky's dating Sam, anyway, and he knows I'm with you. If there was ever anything even remotely romantic between us, it's long dead. Believe me, Tones, we're just friends."
When Tony still didn't lose the doubtful expression, Steve rolled his eyes and pulled the somewhat unwilling Tony straight into a kiss. Tony seemed surprised at first, but after a moment's initial hesitation he softened and returned the kiss. Steve ran his tongue across Tony's lips, asking permission to take it into full make-out mode, and Tony gasped at the feeling. Steve didn't wait for him to close his mouth; he took the kiss deeper whether Tony wanted him to or not. Tony was compliant for once, maybe from the shock of the rather abrupt kiss or maybe just because it was his way of telling Steve he was forgiven. Either way, Steve liked it; normally when they kissed like this Tony was being difficult to try and amuse him. It either worked or ended up frustrating him to the point where he'd press Tony against a wall to get what he wanted. Steve thought Tony rather enjoyed it when he did that. Now, though, Tony was giving Steve free reign, letting Steve explore his mouth with his tongue.
After a moment, Steve felt Tony wrap his arms around the super-soldier and knew he was forgiven, he was believed. Now Tony started to mess around, biting Steve's lip and making the latter shiver. Steve felt Tony's hand creep up to bury itself in his short blond hair and would've smiled if it hadn't been for the fact that he was still busy kissing Tony.
Eventually they needed to breathe, so reluctantly Steve pulled back, though he made no move to completely pull away from Tony. He took it as a good sign that Tony didn't move either.
"You're forgiven," Tony gasped. "I believe you. There's no way you could kiss me like that and have something going on with Bucky too."
"Why would you doubt me in the first place?" Steve questioned. Tony rolled his eyes.
"Where do I start?" he muttered, but he smiled as he said it and completely ruined the effect.
"We seem to have scared the others off," Steve noted. "Why don't we go invite them all to a movie night?"
"What would we watch?" Tony asked.
"Thor, Loki, and I still haven't seen the Hunger Games trilogy yet," Steve said. "Why not those?"
"Sure. We might want to get Peter together...he seems the most easily wounded by our constant arguing," Tony said.
"Good idea."
Tony kissed him lightly. "I love you, okay? That's why I got so worked up about the rumors about you and Bucky. I don't want you to leave me."
"I'm not leaving, Tony," Steve promised. "I wouldn't do that to you."
...Would he?
"Quieter argument this time," Clint remarked. "I couldn't hear them from three floors down."
"I couldn't either," Phil said. "I hope that's a good sign."
"I still wonder what it is that they argue about," Peter sighed.
"Kid, they argue about everything and nothing," Clint said. "I wouldn't be surprised if they argue about the rest of us living here or whatever."
"Clint," Phil said, "stop being such a pessimist."
"I am not a pessimist!" Clint protested. Peter laughed.
"You don't need to help him, kid!" Clint teased.
"Who said anything about helping him? I don't think he needs help, uncle Clint, I think he's got you under control," Peter replied.
"Why thank you, Peter," Phil joked. "At least it's easy for me to tame him."
"Hey!"
"Clint, seriously. The moment we're alone you're always all over me. You would literally do anything I asked you to when we're alone, even if you don't follow orders too well when we're on assignment," Phil pointed out.
"Phil! Really? In front of the kid?"
"I do have a name, you know," Peter said.
"I know," Clint replied, "I just don't use it."
"He noticed," Phil said, giving Clint a pointed but playful glare.
Clint looked like he was about to retort when Steve and Tony appeared in the doorway.
"Movie night, anyone?" Steve offered. Peter noticed he was holding Tony's hand; whatever their argument was, it must have been resolved.
"Depends on the movie," Clint said, though Peter knew he was lying by the hopeful gleam in his eye. He'd have a movie night no problem.
"It's the Hunger Games trilogy tonight," Tony said.
"I'm in," Clint said immediately, glancing hopefully at Phil.
"So am I," Phil said.
"I love the Hunger Games!" Peter exclaimed excitedly. "Count me in, too."
"Grab some popcorn and head into the den, then," Tony said. "We're going to go round up everyone else."
The pair departed.
"Well, they've made up," Clint remarked.
"We noticed, Clint," Phil laughed. "Now come on, we don't want to miss the movie, do we?"
A/N: And there you go. Hope you enjoyed, please review!

Snowbeardolphin - Thanks! You're like the only person to review. Which of the ones I listed do you ship? Also, that's a good idea, I might just use that. That's great. Thanks for the feedback!
