Chapter One: Teddy Bear?

Youji Itami

In a large committee hall utilized for press releases and military conferences hundreds of officers and soldiers in formal attire sat and stood in file while watching a ceremony take place on a large wooden stage in front of them.

The room had polished wooden walls with various portraits and certificates and on the stage was a podium where a young man stood and received his medal of honor. He was of above average height, had defined features, light skin and short cut black hair. He had on his formal green military issued suit and stood straight with a intense look on his face.

"And so, with great honor, I proudly present this medal of honor to Youji Itami. In response to the threat that appeared Second Lieutenant Itami had quickly and efficiently solved the situation. In light of his bravery and quick wits, You are to be promoted to first Lieutenant immediately.

Well done and thank you for your heroic actions" came the voice of a elderly man in front of Itami. He was a General that had personally come to congratulate Itami.

With a bow, Itami accepted his award before walking off of the stage and giving a smile to the various journalists that were filming and reporting the scene.

Two days later

Gate

Youji Itami was sitting in the back of a truck with three other soldiers who were looking rather excitedly nervous. Itami wasn't very anxious himself, but he could understand the trepidation. Anything could be found beyond the gate.

A shorter Japanese soldier sitting across from him chuckled nervously and tried to break the ice by asking "So, do you think we'll be seeing any catgirls anytime soon? All we see are humans. Not that that's bad, it's just my expectations were higher".

Itami couldn't fault his expectations, as he himself was hoping for catgirls or wolfgirls he could meet.

Itami sighed slightly before saying "Maybe we haven't met them yet, we only just arrived".

The man across from him nodded before saying "Let's hope for it alright".

"Agreed" Itami responded before looking hopefully down at his handgun he was turning over and over in his hand.

Later that night

As the JSDF convoy made it's way through the night, The soldiers had been busy with enjoying their conversations about many things and topics. As expected Itami was going off about his favorite mangas to his brothers in arms.

"Sir! There's a massive fire up ahead!" The soldier driving the Humvee broke their conversation while pointing ahead.

As they looked out of the windows, They saw a huge black thing flying around in the plumes of smoke.

Then it broke through the smoke and everyone saw it.

"Oh my lord! That's a fucking dragon!" He yelled as he slammed on the brakes, causing the convoy to come to a halt. Picking up the hand radio, the soldier called for everyone to prepare for an assault by a dragon.

However, shortly after, the dragon flew away into the night, leaving a shocked and amazed group of soldiers to marvel at what they just saw.

The next day

As the convoy made it's way further inland, the squadron led by Itami was chatting away under the bright shine of the sun. Behind them was a long line of carriages filled to the brim with luggage and the survivors.

"ROAAR" came the powerful and earth shaking roar of a giant dragon.

"Shit! NOT AGAIN!" Came the yell of the unfortunate driver who had seen the dragon the first time.

The tires of multiple vehicles ground to a halt on the dirt road as a red dragon the size of a house flapped it's wings slowly over to them.

"OH SHIT! IT'S COMING OUR WAY! SPLIT AND ATTACK" The driver yelled over the radio as the dragon dove towards the vehicles. Luckily, the trucks got out of the way making the giant dragon swerve towards a speeding truck.

Then the dragon stopped and did it's quickest turn around as it heard the booming of the heavy footsteps of a giant creature behind it.

Looming over it was a massive creature, it's shadow covering the dragon entirely.

CRACK

The loud crack of the dragon's skull being shattered resounded through the plain as the dragon's huge body went flying over sixty meters before thudding into the ground and rolling over dead.

"Aww that was no fun. Next time try to make it fun for me" came the sound of a young girl's light and disappointed voice.

Where the dragon was just a moment ago was a strange sight.

"Is that a teddy bear?" Itami asked out loud in amazement at the sheer bizarre and out of place sight.

In front of the group was a building sized Teddy Bear that had a small girl on it's shoulder. The girl wore a closed lab coat, had pale skin and long white hair.

The giant brown teddy bear stopped ten or so meters away from the convoy and the girl jumped twenty meters in the air before slowly floating down in front of the trucks.

Then, in perfect Japanese, she said "Come on out little humans, I won't bite" with a cutesy voice before flashing a large grin that exposed her sharp blade like teeth that glimmered perfectly white in the sun.

The driver of Itami's truck looked at him with a cautious look and asked "What do we do Lieutenant? I don't think we're prepared for this".

"Stay here and let me see if I can talk with her. If I die, try to escape and report to superiors. I'm getting out" Itami said as he slowly opened the truck door.

Waking slowly up to whatever this girl was Itami gave a smile and greeted her.

The grin never left her face as she greeted him back in perfect Japanese while giving a deep mock flourishing bow "I'm Gremory, the genius dimensional traveler. You'd best remember it since you will never meet anyone like me again. Itami is a nice name, Don't ever lose it. Bad things tend to happen when you do" Her eyes glinted when she said Lose it.

The combination of her appearance and tone crept Itami out a little.

He was about to ask her how she knew his name but then she cut him off.

"Your driver talks so loud I could have heard him a mile away" she ended with a low chuckle and snapped with her right hand and the teddy bear uncurled it's free hand, dropping a small black haired girl at Itami's feet.

"She could use some company when she wakes up. Be careful though, she might have quite a temper" The white haired girl told him before snapping her fingers. After she snapped, a flash of white light temporarily blinded everyone and then when they regained their sight, she had vanished along with her bear.

I'm a wee bit exhausted so i only made a little of this.
