Cam Mitchell muttered to himself as he walked up to General Landry's office. He had honestly never considered himself much for military protocol. Oh, he usually followed it himself; if he didn't, he never would have made it to colonel. But he liked how informal SG-1 had always been. Nobody called him 'Sir;' nobody was worried about the chain of command. They just got to work and got shit done.

But every once in a while, Cam was reminded about why the military had certain rules in place, and this was one of them. No fraternizing with the people on your team.

He had to admit, he had been pretty short-sighted when he argued with Sam if favor of getting Daniel and Vala together. He knew they liked each other and wanted them to be happy. Hell, in any other situation, they'd be a cute couple. But he was getting damned tired of seeing the two of them making eyes at each other in the briefing room, or the mess hall, or just about anywhere else. And he was not looking forward to taking that show on the road. Something had to be done, and he intended to do it.

He knocked on the general's door and poked his head in the open doorway. "General?" he called.

Landry was sitting at the big desk, a mound of paperwork before him. He lifted his head and motioned for him to come in. "What can I do for you, Colonel?" he asked. "You know your briefing isn't for another hour."

"Yeah, I know. I wanted to talk to you before we met with the rest of the team."

Landry pulled his attention away from the documents on his desk. "Oh? This wouldn't have anything to do with that problem we discussed a month ago, would it?"

Cam hung his head. He had insisted that this wouldn't be a problem. That he would handle it. "Look, General, I wouldn't call Jackson and Vala a problem; I just think they could use a talking to, you know? A warning. Just to shake them up. Especially if we're going back out in the field. We don't need any extra . . . distractions."

Landry nodded his head. "I'll take it into consideration, Colonel. Thank you."

Cam nodded in return and stood to leave. "Thanks, General." And that was that. Right?
