Well I didn't mean to take this long to update but given how things currently are and my internet going out let's just say things haven't gone as planned. So anyway I will finish this eventually. Short chapters I know but the later ones is longer.
Ruby was lying on the bed of Crescent Rose waiting for Weiss to arrive so that they could begin. She was about to go to sleep when she thought that she heard the familiar buzzing of Weiss' car as she was bad to wined it up tight and keeping it there instead of up shifting. Sitting up she could hear it better and after a couple of seconds, sure enough Weiss zipped around the building and parked beside her. Ruby waved as Weiss got out. "I was beginning to wonder if you were going to show up Weiss. "Thought for a little that you had chicken out on trying to learn to work on antiques again."
Weiss looked mildly annoyed by that. "What makes you think that I would chicken out? I said I wanted to learn how. I do not plan on backing out now so we may as well get started. What is this project anyway; you never said when you called me?
Ruby chuckled "Oh you'll see come on. You may want to put on coveralls and gloves first though."
Weiss looked confused by the fact that she had worn her work uniform. So why did she still need coveralls? "Uh Ruby, why do I need to put on coveralls and gloves?
Ruby could not help the grin on her face. "Well unless you became immune to poison vine since our last expedition out to my parts pile then you better put them on." Weiss was frowning at the memory of that day. She ended up having to go to the doctor because she ended up with poison in some questionable places. It frustrated her that Yang and Ruby both were not allergic to the stuff so they could traipse all through the stuff without a second thought about it. She slipped them on and Ruby tossed her some gloves about the time she got them zipped up and motioned for her to follow her.
Ruby had beaten Weiss around the corner of the building and was propped up on the side of the trailer when she walked around the corner. She thought that she was going to die at the sight of the face that the girl was making. Weiss froze when she saw what was around the corner at what was sitting on the trailer. She could tell that a lot of the vegetation had been cut off of...whatever it was. "Ruby please oh please tell me that isn't what we are going to be working on."
Ruby was snickering now. "Yep! Isn't she beautiful? I checked the serial number on the transmission beside the gearshift and according to that; this tractor is eighty years old. She is the perfect piece to introduce you to the world of antique engines!"
Weiss paled a little. "But… but it's haired over with poison, moss, and is that a piece of a tree that has grown around the draw bar?"
Ruby could not help but smile. "Why yes. Yes it is. Now help me pull as much of this off of it then we can spray it down in degreaser and you can play with the steam genny."
Weiss was frowning. She hated using the steam genny. She always managed to splatter boiling water back in her face. "Fine let's get this over with shall we. I'm curious what this is going to look like afterwards.
They got to work cutting and pulling the poison off of it. Ruby took the vine and tossed it over in the grass out of the parking lot so it would be out of the way. While Weiss chiseled the piece of tree trunk off the draw bar. Once that was done, Ruby dragged out the steam genny and started setting it up. While she did that Weiss grabbed the degreaser that Ruby kept in the storage bin on top of the steam genny and started spraying it all over the engine and anywhere else that she noticed that there was a buildup of oil on the tractor. Ruby fired it up and started the boiler so it would be heating up and passed Weiss the gun with it already set up. "So Weiss while I go wash off my arms so I don't get the oils of the poison everywhere. I want you to just keep washing this thing; don't worry about peeling what paint is left or anything. The only thing you have to watch out for is that you cannot get the magneto wet with this thing all right. Just take your time around it splashing it is fine just don't point it straight on it." Weiss nodded and Ruby left her to it. She took her time burning the years of build up off it. All the moss and old oil that had set up like tar gradually peeled away revealing a large amount of paint. It surprised her that for something as old as it was that there was this much paint still on it. About an hour later, she had finally finished. Sighing, she started to carefully remove her tainted coveralls and gloves to keep the rash she was sure to get at a minimum. Ruby finally came back about the time she was slipping her feet out of her coveralls. "I see you got everything cleaned well now we can drag it inside out of the heat." Weiss was overjoyed that they were going to get out of the heat. She would have rather been doing this kind of work in the dead of winter instead of one of the hottest months of the year. Ruby jumped on the forklift that she had added hooks to the ends of the arms. Hooking the drawbar, she lifted it up off its rear wheels while Weiss held the steering wheels straight. They slowly dragged it off the trailer and into the shop. Ruby had already set out some jack stands to set it on since the rear tires had rotted off it. Weiss placed them under the drawbar since it appeared to be able to hold up the entire tractor. Ruby set it down on the jack stand and put away the forklift for the time being. She slapped her hands together "Now the real fun can begin Weiss!"
