"So what you're saying is you want us to look out for this panther? Today? Like right now?" Po asked. Today was supposed to be there day off. And he was gonna help his 'Dad' with the noodle shop. Mostly since his other Dad was too busy teaching at the chi today. He didn't want to throw that away for some great danger. Besides how likely was it that they actually would need the help? To him something that outrageous was just impossible to believe.
"Yes, Po. This panther is to arrive today. Is there a problem with that?" Shifu responded, his voice calm. Though it was never the voice that the young master looked to and found fear in, it was with his eyes. His eyes seem to throw daggers always as a warning to not piss off the teacher. Unless they wanted to face his unmerciful punishments.
"Uh um... No master Shifu," As much as he wanted to say that today was a day for him to be with his adoptive father and not for a panther or a great danger to suddenly come to fruition. He knew he couldn't. He didn't understand why these things couldn't pick a weekday instead of Saturday to happen.
"Good, now go! Hopefully, you'll see him soon. The sooner he arrives the sooner we can understand our situation," With that, the short grandmaster of the Jade palace left to go meditate. He still couldn't believe what was happening. Usually, he was good at taking in new information. Subtract Po becoming the Dragon Warrior and a few other things and he could take anything. But never had Shifu seen Oogway so... frightened before. Whatever this was. Whatever this great danger could be. It was definitely something to fear. Mostly if someone as great as Oogway so openly feared it.
"Alright guys time to go find this panther guy!" Po had said excited, though his friends and fellow masters knew for certain that he had something up his sleeve. "So we should definitely split up! I'll check right around my Dad's shop! You guys decide where you'll check! Alright, let's go!" And as per usual Po style, he wasn't good at keeping it hidden.
Now the five could easily just tell Po about how they knew what he was planning... but they also knew by now that even if they confronted him, he'd still end up doing it. So as he ran off thinking he got away with his little cover up the other five just sighed and planned out how they would look for this Panther.
As the two felines made it up the mountain they could see a nice village in the middle of a valley. A mountain at the far end and a palace on the top of said mountain. A beautiful sight indeed. "So this is the famous Valley of Peace? Home of the Furious Five and Dragon Warrior? It looks rather nice!" The Jaguar said eyeing the valley with a small twinkle in her eye. She had always wanted to come here. Albeit under much different circumstances but the fact had remained that she was more than happy to be seeing the now much famous landmark of China. And hopefully, some of her favorite celebrities.
"So it seems. It looks like the name suggests, peaceful. A much-needed change in our lives right now" came the gentle and quiet voice of her brother. A Panther like no other. She couldn't count how many times that voice made her feel better at her worst moments. His kind nature rivaled by none in her eyes. Though she had to admit the most amazing thing about him was his fighting skill. His time spent secretly training under many different people of many different styles had proved to be something to admire, even if he had only shown it once and a great while. She didn't know how many styles he learned, all she did know was that all of them were very well versed and if in the right hands rather deadly. It had still shocked her to this day that a man like her brother was well, so intimidating at the same time.
Just thinking about it had made her giggle. Her brother, the biggest dork and softy she knew, the same man who had regretted killing a bee when he was fifteen (a rather funny story), was also somehow the deadliest companion she had. She could count the times he actually been in a fight on just her two paws, most of them being in the last couple of months as they journeyed through China to make it here. Why? Because here they would finally settle and just move on from their past. Finally. They didn't know exactly what they would settle on doing but they knew they'd be happy doing anything other than traveling their whole lives. Besides she needed her brother to have a real kitchen so he could cook the gourmet meals he made when they were back home.
Looking to her brother she saw his confused face. Anyone would be confused if someone just giggled out of nowhere. But looking at that face just made her giggle more. Which only left him more confused. After a bit, he couldn't seem to keep himself from chuckling as he had to ask, "What's so funny?"
With a final little giggle she looked at him with a smile, "Nothing much, just remembering how much of a dork you are,"
He looked at her confused for just a moment before he had put his paw to his chest and while acting hurt said, "Wow, how could you say such a thing! Like my feelings? So wounded, my sister thinks I'm a dork! My life is absolutely ruined!"
She couldn't hold back the laughter coming out. "Oh shut up! Are we gonna go down or what?"
With a final chuckle, he smiled. "Yeah, let's go. I want something to eat!"
Honestly, she was hungry too. They had skipped breakfast that morning since they had run out of food. So a good lunch was first priority. "Sounds like a plan!"
"Po more customers at table eight!"
"Okay, Dad!"
Po had been working for the last half hour and he was honestly doing just as well if not better than usual. He was really pumped today! After hearing that in a bit when the shop had fewer people he would be taste-testing a new recipe for his father's new soup idea he was ecstatic!
Yep, today was gonna be a good day. Walking to the table he tried his best to contain his excitement. Nothing made the young panda happier than food and Kung fu. And no food was better than his father's. "Hello, there what would you like to orderrr," suddenly his mouth hung open as he saw a panther and jaguar looking back at him. Were these the two people he was supposed to be searching for?
"Um, well we're kinda new in town so can you tell us our options?" came the sweet energetic voice of the jaguar. Though he was only partly listening. His mouth was still open and he was frozen in place. These had to be the people! The two that Oogway had mentioned. And he accidentally found them!
"On my god!" he suddenly shouted much to the surprise of the two felines. It had caught them way off guard. As they recovered from their surprise, the panda continued, "Just as Shifu said Oogway said! Hi, I'm Po the Dragon Warrior,"
The jaguar and the panther seem to look at each other. Confusion plastered on their faces, "Um we know Mr. Dragon Warrior. Sorry is it okay if we know what's on the menu though?" the jaguar had replied. Looking a bit closer Po could finally see the twinkle in her eyes as they stared at him. He must have missed it since he was just in his own surprised state. But they also must have just been really good at hiding their excitement since everyone else who saw him would basically scream his name.
"Oh yeah yeah sorry. Um, you have to come up to the front so you can see the menu," he said pointing to where his father was, as he was currently cooking whatever table six wanted. After a quick nod from the two, they went to order and Po who was barely able to hide his excitement went off to find the five, since it probably would've been better for them all to be there to explain the situation the two were about to be in. And of course, because he wanted the moment to brag.
"That was so cool! Jun that was the Dragon Warrior! The Dragon Warrior!" Yating had been so excited after laying eyes on Po. The famous Dragon Warrior. The panda was one of her idols, behind just the Master Tigress. She was in love with that Kung Fu tiger.
"Yes, it was. He seemed really nice," Jun replied. He could only chuckle at her enthusiasm from meeting the legend himself. He didn't pay much attention to any of the masters of the Jade Palace. Not for any particular reason, just that he didn't pay attention. Sure he knew many of their achievements and other things (thanks mostly to his sister being a superfan), but for him to say he was a big fan himself would be a stretch. Of course, he did respect them and like them. Everyone who wasn't their enemy or a person who was on the wrong side of the law did.
"You say that yet, of course, you said nothing to him? Seriously bro how can you literally be so cool and so... sad at the same time?" She tried not to sound mean but he knew what she meant. And she did end up sounding mean. Not that he was offended at what she said at all. After all, she was right. "Like seriously, you can beat up three bandits at once, yet you can't converse with anyone, especially women! Like it's no wonder you've never had a girlfriend!"
Okay, now that hurt. "Wow, ouch Yating. That one stung," it was true though, never once had he had a girlfriend. He couldn't hold a conversation for his life. It just wasn't a strength of his. It made it hard for him to make friends in the past too. "But at least I didn't wet the bed until I was nine," he fired back with a smirk.
He waited for her to register what he said. When she did after a few moments her face went red and she looked angry. "That was one time! And I was so scared because of the thief! You can't hold that to me!" (Another really funny story he couldn't wait to embarrass her with). What? It was what they did as siblings.
Her embarrassment had made him laugh. If there was something he was good at when it came to talking it was his ability to banter. Mostly when it came to his sister. They could banter for hours.
Their conversation was stopped when a small goose had arrived with two bowls, "Okay one fish and tofu soup for the lady and a hot and sour soup for the gentleman, anything else you would like to me get you?"
They just shook their heads as they took in the aroma of the bowls of soup in front of them. As soon as they smelled it they felt like they were in heaven. The spices and other ingredients just made a great combination that invaded their noses and they couldn't hold back their smiles, or the saliva that resulted from their longing to dig into their respective soups.
Just before they could have a bite a voice rung out that got both their attentions. "Excuse us we need to talk with you two," the voice, cold and feminine. The kind of voice that spoke business.
Looking to his sister he could see her surprised face, her jaw stuck open, as the soup on her spoon fell back into the bowl. Curious to what she was looking at he followed her gaze just to be as surprised. taking a seat next to him was Tigress with Monkey behind her, Mantis on his shoulder. Crane and Viper were walking to the other side to sit next to Yating, while Po decided to just stick to standing. Of course, he had known their names from just how famous they were, and because his sister only talked about them every day.
It only took him a few seconds before he quickly covered his ears. His sister was living her dream. But with that most likely meant she was gonna squeal, and she had a very high pitched squeal. One that pierced the ears.

"OH MY GOD ITS THE FURIOUS FIVE AND THE DRAGON WARRIOR! SITTING WITH ME! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!" she was so excited, soon everyone around her was also covering their ears. When she noticed how loud she was being she tried her best to calm down. Though she was embarrassed and the damage had been done. "Sorry.." she said quietly. Her voice barely heard by the people affected, though they didn't look mad at her. Well at least most of them. But to be fair her tiger idol always looked angry. At least to her knowledge.
After their ears recovered the six masters looked at both felines with an expression neither feline could quite understand. "This might sound... off, but we need you two to come up to the Jade Palace," came the motherly like the voice of the green snake.
The Master Viper just asked them to go with them to the Jade Palace! The young jaguar's face lit up. Very few were ever invited to the Jade Palace. Not to mention they were being asked by basically all the masters! Could her day get any better? She could squeal again if she wanted to! Though she instead stayed calm and responded, as polite as she possibly could at that moment, "We would be honored to go up to the Jade Palace, right bro?" She said looking at him.
His response was him looking to his food and sighing. As much as he hated to do it, he knew that food could wait. Mostly when it came to his sister achieving one of her dreams. So reluctantly he nodded placing his spoon down. "Alright looks like we're off!" Po said excitedly, grabbing their bowls and taking them to his father while giving him some coins as a sorry for taking his customers. His father giving him a partially displeased look from what the panther could see.
So with a bunch of different moods. More accurately with two excited ones, one reluctant one, and a few that they couldn't quite pinpoint, they left the restaurant. They started their journey to the Jade Palace in silence, with a jaguar still looking at them with a twinkle in her eye. Much to her brother's amusement.
The silence would soon disappear though as a small bug spoke up, "So you two are brother and sister?"
"Yep!" came the cheery voice of the jaguar again.
"By blood?" came the curious voice of Monkey, interspecies relationships weren't uncommon and because of that interspecies or even combination offspring weren't exactly uncommon. Though it always came as a surprise whenever one was seen.
"Oh no. Jun here is adopted, it was around... eleven years ago? Wow, it's been eleven years since you became my brother!" She said flabbergasted at how long it had been since they had first met.
"How old are you two?" Po asked to immediately be hit by Viper who quietly scolded him for asking a woman's age. Still to this day men didn't see the problem with the question. Much to many females annoyance.
"Oh I'm 19, Jun is 22," Yating had continued to speak to the masters as if they were already long time friends. Much to her brother's amusement and amazement. That ability she had really was something to admire. Mostly to him considering he couldn't even talk to people most of the time. He enjoyed just sitting back and watching the scene in front of him.
"Why isn't he talking?" Crane asked looking back with an eyebrow raised. Just like that his enjoyment was gone as suddenly so many pairs of eyes stared at the young panther. And all he could do was look back in fear. How could he have no problem talking to bandits and be ready to fight and win and yet, he couldn't speak for a normal conversation? He swore at times he was possessed by a different part of him.
Looking to his sister he was basically pleading for help with his eyes. Hoping she would save him, as she looked into his eyes all she could do was sigh. "Because my brother here sucks at keeping a conversation. He's really shy and suffers from a bad case of social anxiety, and he also is an overthinker. Not a good mix. Right now he's probably played out over a million different scenarios in his head of him embarrassing himself. Basically he's a huge dork," She said with a grin, hoping to get him out of his shell, get him to talk.
And it almost worked as he went to open his mouth only to cover it and attempt to discreetly hide his face. Did him refusing to quip something back at her really embarrass him? She couldn't help but chuckle. Much to the confusion of the others, "What's so funny?" Viper asked as her curiosity took over.
It took a second for the jaguar to respond as she couldn't stop herself from chuckling a little bit more. "Nothing just... the thing is that my brother is by far the coolest person I know and the most pathetic at times,"
"Cool?" Monkey asked, trying his best not to laugh. Not that he really wanted to doubt her, mostly with the fact that this panther was supposed to be the person to help them stop whatever this danger thing was, but the panther didn't look like much.
"Monkey!" Viper scolded, only to hear a laugh that none of them had heard before. And it was coming from the panther.
"What's so funny," Mantis asked giving the panther a confused glare.
"Huh? Oh um... Nothing, it's just that I think the same as him, I'm not 'cool' like my sister says, I'm more on the pathetic side," He said, his voice gentle. Though his voice seemed to be dodgy, as he tried his best to keep his eyes away from any of the masters. I couldn't have said that more awkward!
"That's just because you don't find your skills to be cool," his younger sibling said, punching his arm.
"What skills?" came the cold but curious voice of Tigress as she turned, cocking a brow. The first time she spoke in the whole journey after the restaurant.
Suddenly Jun hid his face, much to his sister's amusement. But she wouldn't allow him to get out of this so easily. Mostly if it meant having a chance to have something to impress her idols. "Oh nothing much really, he can sing, cook, dance, give good advice, read people, listens unlike most men..." She said rubbing her chin as she looked at them seeing their eyes lose excitement only to drop her favorite skill of his, "Oh yeah and he can fight!"
She was soon met with wide eyes, mostly from the men of the group. Master Tigress seemed to hide her surprise after just a second of showing it. "What is the martial art you use?"
Her eyes pierced his soul like daggers. Something that would scare the normal person only seemed to leave him curious. Why? Well, simply why would she have a reason to give him such a cold expression? "He doesn't exactly have one," his sister said drawing all the attention to her.
"What do you mean by that?" Viper asked confused. Could have been that the panther just had natural reflexes that made him better than the average joe?
"Well he's trained under many different masters and basically he just uses a little bit of every martial art he's learned and made his own. He hasn't mastered any of them to the fullest but instead continues to train and create his own style,"
"So he's creating a martial art?"
"Not exactly, more like he's just a mixed martial artist,"
They looked at the Panther again. He seemed like nothing much. But could it be that he was really that good at fighting? There was just no way.
Well, maybe this would be the first test for the young panther. The dreaded test before the real thing. And Po's worst enemy.
The mountain of stairs leading to the Jade Palace.
Alright, that's another chapter done! I'm really enjoying doing this. This is my first ever story with my own original main characters and I think they're pretty cool, at least the image I have of them in my head. Anyway, tell me what you all think of it, please! And also I'll see all you amazing people in the next chapter!
