"Henriette!" Sherlock said as she and Milky Holmes entered the Student Council President's office.
Henriette watched as Milky Holmes filed into the room, Sherlock taking the lead with the same high energy she always seemed to have, Hercule close behind with Cordeilla while Nero ate a snack pulled out from her hat.
'They have the right to know, no matter how hard the truth' Henriette thought to herself "Hello, Milky Holmes. Please have a seat, I have some rather urgent news to share with you all"
Once everyone was seat Henriette took a calming breath to steel herself "For starters, you'll all be allowed back to your former rooms as of today. While the special menu is still not returned you can order from the same menu as the rest of the students"
"Really!? Yes, finally some real food and not just baked potatos!" Nero cheered, a sentiment shared by the others.
Hercule nervously raised her hand "Um, what about our expulsion? Do we..."
Henriette sighed "While you will still need to recover your Toys or face expulsion, the deadline for it has been pushed back to an unknown date. I'll be sure to tell you all the new deadline once it's decided upon"
"Wait, why the sudden change though?" Cordelia asked.
'Here comes the hard part' "The truth is Opera Kobayashi is-"
"Huh! Sensei!" Milky Holmes cried out as one, Sherlock literally jumping to Henriette's desk "Oh~! Is Sensei back, is he here already!?"
"I wonder if he brought us back gifts from England" Cordelia said as she began daydreaming of her detective teacher showering her with gifts.
Nero started to drool "Maybe some snacks, stuff we couldn't get in Japan"
"I'd, wouldn't mind seeing his smiling face again" Hercule said quietly.
"It's with a heavy heart I must tell you Opera Kobayashi has passed away" Henriette said sternly, she closed her eyes as she continued "While it has not been made public yet, the news of his death will be announced later tonight. I felt it was only fair to let you all know ahead of time, due to how all close you were"
Henriette waited for Milky Holmes to respond with something, not hearing anything she opened her eyes to see Milky Holmes staring at her with confused expressions.
Sherlock suddenly lit up "Oh I get it!" She caught her fist in her own hand "This is another test! One you managed to get sensei involved in"
Cordelia crossed her arms over her chest "Seriously, that's a pretty cruel test to put us through president"
"Yeah, who came up with the stupid idea anyway?" Nero said as she leaned back into her chair.
"It is a lie, right?" Hercule asked, desperation in her eyes.
"I'm confident it is, right Henriette" Sherlock said as she turned back to the stone faced student council president "It's alright, we'll still on the case even if we know Opera-sensei is alright. So, just say it's a lie" she closed her eyes "Come on, just admit it's a lie"
Henriette stayed silent, her silence causing the Milky Holmes to understand something was wrong.
"C-Come on. You can call us all useless as much as you want, just please tell us Kobayashi isn't" Sherlock couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence.
"I'm so sorry, but this isn't a test of any sort. The Great Detective Opera Kobayashi has sadly passed away" Henriette said, her words like icicles piercing the hearts of Milky Holmes, as they all seem to lose what strength they had as despair filled their hearts.
One week later, before the funeral of Opera Kobayashi, Milky Holmes would recieve a voice recording of Opera saying he was alive and well. Though, due to reasons he needs to stay in hiding while working on a dangerous case. Alternatively, leaving four piece of clues for Sherlock, Nero, Hercule and Cordelia to find and put together that will lead them on a trail to a message he left for them.
Opera can either be a Persona user and Phantom Thief or simple a confidant.
