Chapter 2: Revelation and Plans

Mia ran down the hallways of the palace, she was to excited to be more respectable. Her slim black jeans clung to her curves, the oversized jumper of her father hung on to only one of her shoulders leaving the other bare. Her feet… well they were bare. Her wild curly hair, that now reached the small of her back flew around her face.

'Hey Shades, just seeing the grandmother!' Mia yelled as she slid past a bemused Shades, slamming open the door to her grandmother's office. Mia knew of course that the Queen had no appointments today, otherwise she would've been more dignified but outside of those important meeting and when the palace had guests Mia liked to be herself, her bright eyed, curious, excitable self.

'Grandma!' Mia exclaimed happily.
Mia watched as both her Grandmother and Joe looked up at her, and as the colour left Joe's face and a tear slid down her grandmother cheek.

'Oh Mia, where on earth did you find that jumper?' Queen Clarise asked as she slowly sat down on the sleek comfortable couch she had in her office, the shock of seeing a jumper she KNEW belonged to her departed son.

Mia walked towards her Grandmother and sinking into the lounge next to her she wrapped her strong, brave Grandmother in her arms.

'Oh, I found the tower. I was there all morning, I know this might be a shock for you Grandma and I know it's been shut for years, but I found a journal and some other gifts he lefts me, and letters, so many letters! He gave me the keys to the towers and said I could have it. I found the jumper and his gifts in his office. I know that you were thinking of renovating the spare suite, but well I'd hoped, maybe we could just get someone to clean and touch up the tower instead. It's so beautiful and I feel closer to Papa when I'm there. Plus, with the coronation coming up I think it will be good for me to have my own office and privacy away from all the commotion. I know Papa loved it for those reasons.' Mia said

Queen Clarise was quite certain that one day Mia would find out about the tower and beg to live there and so she wasn't to surprised at all. Although she couldn't deny being a little surprised at how quickly she'd managed to find her sons quarters. Placing a soft hand on her granddaughters' cheek she brushed away the tear she found and kisses her forehead.
'Of course, my dear, the tower seems to suit you perfectly, much like it suited your father. I'll make arrangements immediately, however that part of the castle has always been quite private, and I suppose secret. Hmmm. I think we should enlist your father old assistant as your doorman/guide and assistant, he knows that part of the castle quite well and will make a wonderful assistant, he been taking care of the library the last 5 years. You'll have a security guard of course and 2 lady's maids. I believe Shades can continue being your personal bodyguard and Brigitte and Brigitta can continue as your lady's maids. What do you say?'

'Perfect!' Mia spoke.

'I believe it should be ready in around 2 days honestly, that part of the tower had just finished being updated in the needed areas before your fathers passing. A little cleaning and it will be quite beautiful I believe.' Clarise spoke, a broad smile on her face. 'In other news, Charlotte has finished compiling that list of bachelors we needed to review, I thought we could make it a little girls date tonight. If you felt up to it of course.'

Mia nodded thoughtfully, ever since sneaking into the secret corridor that let her listen in on parliament, she became aware of the fact that she would have to marry to keep the crown. While initially incredibly furious and angry, Mia eventually made her peace. She couldn't explain why but she just felt like she might meet her soul mate through this process, she was very aware of how insane that sounded but it didn't mean the feeling went away. Besides, she had a duty to Genovia and would do her best to see it through.

'Sounds lovely Grandma, I'll get Lily and organise the snacks, meet you in the cinema room. Say around 8pm? After dinner?' Mia inquired. After getting the affirmative, Mia kissed her Grandmother on the cheek and left the Queens office, heading towards her own room to do a bit of writing in her new journal of today's events and wash up for dinner. She'd also need some comfy cloths she thought.
