A/N: Well, as the saying goes: better late than never! I know that it has been over a year since I have updated, but as we all kind of sit in this quarantined world, it gives us time to catch up on things! Like my writing!

Here is chapter 2 in my "A to Z" series. This time we are visiting Power Rangers Lost Galaxy with the pairing: Kendrix and Leo!

This chapter is filled with the "feels". It is kind of bittersweet, but made me really like Kendrix and Leo as a couple!

Hope you enjoy it! Please leave a comment or a suggestion of a couple you'd like to see!

Chapter 2: B-Birthday

Paulo' Bakery, Terra Venture

The bell chimed as Leo Corbett pushed open the door of Paulo's Bakery, alerting the staff of his arrival. As Leo made his way into the pastry shop, heo is quickly met with the strong aroma of freshly baked pastries. Pies, bread, donuts, and cupcakes of all kinds bring a happy welcome to his senses.

"Oh, good morning, Leo!" It was Bernadette, naturally, who greeted Leo. She typically "manned" the front, while Paulo worked his magic in the back. She was Paulo's wife of 34 years. They had decided, as a couple, to go on Terra Venture. They had run a successful bakery on Earth for 28 years, and figured they should bring it to the new world. "What brings you in today, dear?"

Leo couldn't help but smile at the pleasantries. "Good morning, Ms. Vigil! I was actually going to inquire about some cupcakes."

"Well, you've come to the right place!"

"I hope you know, this is a really sweet thing that you are doing, Kendrix." Leo commented. He and the pink ranger were making their way downtown to pay a visit to Paulo's bakery. Taking advantage of the beautiful day for a pleasant stroll.

Kendrix gave a simple shrug. "It's really no big deal. I mean, growing up on Mirinoi, I'm sure that Maya has never had a traditional birthday celebration that we are accustomed to. So, I thought it would be fun for her to see how we celebrate birthdays. Plus, who doesn't love to celebrate birthdays?"

"I can name quite a few, actually. Myself, for example." Leo confessed, causing Kendrix to practically come to a halt.

"What!? Leo Corbett how can you not like birthdays?" Kendrix inquired. It was as if Leo's opinion was a personal attack against her. "They are so much fun!"

"I don't know," Leo began, laughing, as he fished for a good enough reason. " I mean, I enjoyed them as a kid, it's just as I got older, they became less fun and less special. Once you become an adult, it is just another day."

"It is not just another day! It's a momentous occasion! It's the day that you were brought into this world. It is worth celebrating. You are the reason we get to celebrate that day. We celebrate because we are happy that you are here in our lives." Kendrix explained.

"And the presents, don't forget about them!" Leo teased, giving Kendrix a playful nudge.

"Leo!" Kendrix sighed, rolling her eyes.

"I'm only teasing, Kendrix. I totally get where you are coming from. I, just, growing up it wasn't made as special or important for Mike and I. Leo defended. "Every time our birthdays rolled around, it was a quick "happy birthday" and a present. Though, as we got older, the present was replaced with a good ole "what do you plan on doing with the rest of your life, Leo?" Lecture."

Kendrix just nodded. She didn't have the words, yet, for a response. A heavy silence fell between the two.

"But, if it is important to you, I will make sure that when yours rolls around, we will go all out! Balloons, streamers, and a cake that is fifteen tiers!" Leo explained. He was fishing for a smile from his favorite blonde.

It worked.

"It is important; and not just my birthday. At least, I think so. We aren't guaranteed forever, so why not celebrate while we can and people are here?" Her question was hypothetical, but that heavy silence returned.

Now, it was Kendrix's turn to lighten the mood: "I'm going to make you like birthday's again, Leo Corbett!"

Leo smiled, "I hope you do, Kendrix Morgan."

Present.

Leo had spent no more then five minutes at Paulo's Bakery. He knew exactly what he wanted. A red velvet cupcake with vanilla creme frosting. It was her favorite.

Leo hustled out of the bakery and made his way down the street. His hand gripped tight to the to-go container, ensuring that the dessert stayed upright and he wouldn't ruin the perfection.

It wasn't but a ten minute walk before Leo reached his destination. His pace slowed.

It was a location that he had come to frequent a lot in recent months. Not necessarily out of enjoyment or any form of desire, but, at least when he came, he got to see her.

Kendrix Morgan

1976-1999

Daughter. Friend. Scientist.

Paving The Way For Our Future.

A heavy sigh slipped through the red rangers lips. He could feel the tears welling in his eyes.

Swallowing hard, Leo attempted to regain his composure. Today wasn't a day to be sad. Today was a happy day.

"Happy Birthday, Kendrix." Leo's voice cracked, presenting forth the cupcake. "I brought you a cupcake. It's red velvet. Your favorite!"

The End.
