Their next class was a pretty easy subject: Physical Education. For some, this class was a chance for those who wanted to try out for a sports team and show out in front of the coaches. Though, for many, this class was just an excuse for them to be lazy and do nothing. One of those fellows was Shao. Shao did enjoy being involved in physical activity, but he never was good at showing it. He took a long look around the gymnasium, trying to familiarize himself with the area. While he was distracted surveying the gym, a very sneaky, little Vulpix came right behind him and slapped his tush. The lack of mons made the slap echo through the area.
"YOOOOOOOOOWWCHHH" everyone that was currently in the gym heard the shout. Coach Spins, who was a very masculine Sylveon was not pleased to hear it. "HEY!," he shouted "NO SCREAMING WITHOUT FEELING ANY PAIN"
Shao turned around to look for the possible suspect, but just found himself looking at the wall. "Looking for me~?" Shao looked under and between his legs, where a short but stacked Vulpix lay on the ground, looking menacingly at him.
"Wh-what? How?"
"What-What? Never seen a pix before?" Today was full of surprises, and he was not liking any of them. The little Vix waddled her way out and smirked. "By the way, you're still a lil excited from that grind down that Glaceon gave you" Shao looked down and saw that she was right. He immediately walked awkwardly to the bleachers where the rest of the students were. Luckily, no one paid attention after the scream. The unnamed Vulpix followed him to the bleachers.
"You know i didn't even slap you that hard right? Just look at my paws and then your butt, they're small compared to your rear."
"That still fucking hurt"
"Wimp…My name's Vulska by the way, you're new here right?"
"I suppose so….I guess you can call me Shao, but that still doesn't explain why you did that."
"Some glaceon sat on your lap, but you're complaining about a slap to the ass? Get over it dude….. Hey talking about that Glaceon, isn't that her?" Shao's head snapped to the right of the room, and indeed it was the same Glaceon from earlier, taking a look at some gym equipment around, or that's what it looks like from afar as she was actually giving Shao a few glances.
"What's her name anyway?"
"I….don't remember…"
"Well that's surprising, surprised you guys haven't screwed yet lmao."
"I barely know her dude, she just happened to sit on my lap because there were no more seats okay? It was a friendly gesture."
"PPPPPPPPPBBFFFTTTT are you out of your mind?! Sitting on some random's lap is anything BUT a friendly gesture."
"Whatever"
"Well, let's stop staring and get to knowing aye?" Finding no other thing to do, they made their way to Crystal, who was currently doing squats with a dumbbell in each was impressed with the physique she put into her workouts, heck maybe he'll start working out like her. Vulska was the first to speak.
"Nice work Ms Glaceon."
"Oh- hi there!" Crystal glanced at Vulska for a second, but the familiar Umbreon from before caught her attention. "Heyyyy, good to see you again, hope you didn't miss me too much heh."
"O-oh hi, wh-what was your name again?"
A bit of awkward tension filled the area as Vulska face palmed.
The stern look on Crystal's face confirmed it to Shadow that he had said something wrong. The Umbreon hasn't always been great with social interaction, and it was really showing here. Finally, after about 10 excruciating seconds of silence, the Glaceon spoke up.
"You've forgotten already huh? And I thought I left off on an unforgettable performance.."
"Ah- hey!" The still a little dazed Umbreon butted in. "I've only known you for half a school day… so uh.. you know.."
"Oh, I suppose you're right", Crystal said giggling. "It's Crystal."
"Er.. right, I'm Shadow." He said, only realizing that she knew that already after the fact.
"Hehe.. I know Shao." she replied. "You told me this morning and I didn't forget"
Shadow felt a bit more embarrassed for forgetting her name now. Looking towards the ground was usually his go-to when he felt this way, however, his deep crimson eyes felt more comfortable looking into Crystal's deep sea blue pupils.
"Heh.. *snort*"
The two look over to their side in confusion, only to lay their eyes on a fangirling Vulpix, paws in face, smirking like a motherfucker.
"Wh-what's so funny?" Shao spurted out.
"EEEE! Are you blind? It's you two! The awkward air, the sexual tension, the way you stare into each other's eyes! You're perfect for each other! ACK! I ship it so hard..
Now the only thing more red than Shadow's eyes was the blush on the two eeveelution's faces.
"B-Yeah anyways, what's your next class Crystal?" asked Shao
"Choir, I'm hoping to get a good position this year!"
"Ah, I have Aquatic Sciences next."
"You guys didn't include me but I share a class with Shao haha" The eeveelutions just rolled their eyes and headed towards the basketball court where the Coach awaited the incoming students. The wave of students bursting through the doors was as diverse as the school's well…..diversity. There were small pokemon and tall pokemon ready to get fit(for the most part). The most noticeable of the bunch was a beefy Houndoom, Shao knowing exactly who it was; Logan, the Houndoom that punked him earlier. Shao was wishing he wasn't there but didn't want to leave Crystal's side. He felt a warming sensation that made him feel safe. Crystal saw his worry and stood in front of Shao, trying her best to block out his vision from catching a glimpse.
"Don't worry lad, I've got you"
Shadow's eyes widened at the sudden calmness he felt from just being next to Crystal. Her soft words soothed him, and he nodded his head. This blissful feeling was interrupted by a basketball to the face, followed by a "Hey! Newbie, wake up and stop fuckin' daydreaming." from Logan. Shadow was knocked to the ground, just barely catching himself with his arm, using his other paw to rub his face.
"Shao! Oh my goodness are you okay?" Crystal squeaked, running over to him.
Shao looked up. "Ugh.. I-I'm fine." He stood back up slowly.
Vulska sniffed up, "HAY! The only one who gets to pick on this dumb idiot is ME! What do ya think you're doin'?"
"Beat it shrimp." The Houndoom remarked. "Nobody asked for your opinion, school slut."
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? How da-" the snarky Vulpix was cut off. Shadow stood up and was wondering what had just happened. He looked around for a certain Crystal, and there she was in front of him, trying to help Shao back up. With Logan eyeing the Glaceon, Shao disliked this, he was filled with an infuriating emotion that wanted him to prevent him from talking to Crystal.
"How about you stop sugarcoating that nerd and take a look at this perfection?" Logan flexed his arms, showing off those bulging handles. Crystal was almost impressed, but her attention was brought to the front of the gym, where coach Spins stood.
"Class! Since our class is being shortened today for the assembly this afternoon, we will not be doing any drills, you may be free to do activities, but if I catch any of you numbskulls leaving any equipment behind we will have a strict conversation…..UNDERSTOOD?"
"Yes sir"
"Good, now scram"
Crystal helped Shadow up. "Hey, you're okay right?" Shadow was still a bit hurt, but brushed it off to look better in front of his crush.
"Y-yeah. It's nothing. But that Logan guy.. He pisses me off so much.."
"Well, what are you gonna do about it"
"I'm…...gonna go sit on the bleachers"
"So you're just gonna let your girlfriend get simped on by another guy? Oh okay cuck"
"Just.. Shut up Vulska."
Crystal became concerned. Was Shadow okay? Probably, he seemed to be a little gloomy with a touch of frustration. Something clearly wasn't okay. She decided to go sit by him. Maybe she could comfort him.
"Shao, you okay?"
"Mheh, could be better"
"Well, I um.. Just wanted to talk to you about well, whatever happened back there."
"Talk about what? You don't even know what's wrong with me." Crystal was beginning to see his more aggressive side. Luckily, she knew what to do in these situations.
"Hey, don't let idiots like him get to you."
"I can't, I literally can't, I try to not let it get to me but my frustration only builds up. I hate myself for knowing I can't fight back, I don't have the body to fight back."
They shared a few seconds of silence until Crystal broke it.
"Maybe you don't need a fit body to fight back"
"Did you not hear m-"
"Listen."
"Alright"
"You may not have the build to physically fight him back but, just so you know, even if you don't think of it as much, I believe in you. I believe you will always be the better person at the end of the day. You are doing nothing wrong. If you ever find yourself with negative thoughts, remember that you have a friend to trust.
Shao couldn't find a thing to say. He was so flabbergasted by her speech. She took the whole alphabet with her. Nobody ever spoke to him the way those words did. He felt motivated, and secure. Before he could break down in tears, Crystal came close and gave him a big hug. He was dropping tears into her shoulder, but she didn't mind. The stranger she met hours ago was now her best friend. Her first friend in Mauville High. Needless to say, she was happy with being friends with Shao and a Vulpix she just met. Everything felt perfect for the moment. Shao finally broke their contact, wiping away his tears.
"Thank you, Crystal, I needed that"
"Note taken."
A sneaky Vulpix from behind them finally revealed herself "Gosh you two are so fuckin' cute!"
They quickly created some space between them, both looking everywhere but each other. Just before the hyperactive 'pix pulled them both in for a big group hug.
"Yep! We're gonna be great friends!"
Vulska's short stature caused Crystal and Shadow to brush noses, causing them to heat up. Vulska gave Shao another smack on the rear.
"Damn, when did you two become heat packets?"
