"It's a good thing your brother still knows when we have our beginning of the summer bash," I slowly made my way down the now perfectly tidy hallway. When I went in the room last night, I remembered everything being destroyed. This morning I was supposed to wake up to a cleaning frenzy, instead it was only nine in the morning and everything looked spic and span. Finally, I rounded the corner seeing Emmett, Alice, and Jasper all sprawled out on the living room floor.
"Good morning sleeping beauty," Alice sang tossing me a cold bottle of water. I only nodded my head at her immediately chugging. God, water never tasted so good. "Edward called last night; he's making a spur of the moment summer trip. Even though I know as well as anyone else Edward doesn't do anything spur of the moment." Alice mumbled under her breath sitting Criss cross on the floor.
"Maybe he just misses the family?" I offered sitting next to her.
"Oh please," Alice sighed annoyingly. "He's bringing some stupid college girl with him." Alice had never been a fan of any one of Edwards girlfriends. Not that I could blame her, Edward was a dumbass when it came to women. They seemed to always be bitchy and blonde, the bitchiness never went over well with Alice. I'd never seen Edward and Alice fight more than when he was in a relationship.
"On a more positive note, no way will this one be worse than Tanya." I offered her the only words of advice I could give her.
"Come with me to get ready. They'll be home in fifteen," Alice announced grabbing my hand and leading me up to her bedroom. I knew this was just for her to get me alone so she could talk to me about everything that happened last night. I wasn't sure what I should tell her, I hadn't even talked to Jasper. I woke up and he had already woken up to clean the house. Part of me wanted to think it was sweet, he just wanted to let me rest. The other part of me knew that it was only because he wanted to avoid the conversation we would eventually need to have.
"Alright, spill." Alice instructed closing her bedroom door and going to the closet tossing out a few outfits. She needed options. I only looked at the floor making Alice roll her eyes. "Bella, I heard you. You two fucked, it's fine. Me and Jazzy, well maybe one day, but nowhere soon." Alice always told me she found her soulmate when she was thirteen years old, she also told me that she needed this time to be free and see if he would still be there when she got back.
"That's just it. I don't know," I groaned leaning back on her bed. The second I did she pulled me back up shoving a small black dress in my lap. I rolled my eyes but started getting into the dress without an argument. It wouldn't do me any good, it never did. "I just don't think it means anything. We were both drunk, he probably doesn't even remember. Even if he does Alice, he still hasn't said two words to me." Alice rolled her eyes tossing me a pair of flip flops.
"Bella, I'm going to tell you this once, he remembers, he doesn't regret it, he just doesn't know how you feel. So, do us a favor, find a way to talk to him tonight. I get it, you don't want to upset me. Guess what Bella, Jasper might have been my soulmate when I was thirteen, but I'm seeing Emmett. Jasper isn't my forever right now," Alice shrugged her shoulders opening her door. "I'm going to send Jasper your way, you can join everyone downstairs in a moment. I want to scope the bitch out first anyways." Allice smiled and shrugged her shoulders. I sat at the edge of Alice's bed when I heard the footsteps approaching.
"Hey," Jasper spoke looking at me from the doorway not bothering to step foot inside. "Alice seems to think we need to talk about something?" He ran his fingers through his hair his eyes glued to the floor. Without a reason my blood started to boil and instantly filled with rage.
"Well if you can't even look at me then no!" I snapped getting to my feet trying to storm past him. It did me no good, Jasper only stuck his hands out placing them on my hip's ad shoving me back into the room. His touch instantly made me calmer. "Don't touch me," I swatted his hand away no matter how good it felt.
"Don't lash out on me," Jasper spoke matter-of-factly. "This morning I was going to have a conversation once we both woke up. Edward called Alice; Alice blew up everyone's phone. You turned yours off at some point in the night, and I didn't want to wake you up. So, I didn't. Alice and Emmett were more then a little annoyed about it, ask them." He offered leaning against Alice's computer desk.
"So what conversation were we going to have?" I crossed my arms over his chest making him let out a low giggle and shake his head no.
"Why are you lashing out on me?" Jasper reached a few inches in front of him to grab my hips and pull me closer. "You're hot when you're mad at me," he whispered in my ear lightly nibbling on it. I only smacked his chest making him giggle. "I enjoyed last night. I'd like to take you out on a proper date, I'd like to continue seeing you. And if the sex thing makes you uncomfortable, we don't need to do it again." I closed my eyes giving a low sigh as he started kissing my neck.
"Jasper, if you're doing this to make Alice mad it won't work." I tried shoving him back, but he didn't budge. He grabbed my face, rather roughly, and forced me to look him in the eyes. I'd never seen Jasper anything other than peaceful, but this… he was angry. It didn't frighten me, it only made him even more attractive.
"I'm telling you this once, I'm not using you to get to Alice. Last night shit exploded with me and Alice, and you got stuck in the middle, but I told Alice this morning that if she was going to see other people I wasn't going to sit around and wait for her to be done living her life. I deserve to live my life, and right now I want to keep seeing you." Jasper shrugged his shoulders letting go of my face. I only bit my lip as he gently pressed his forehead to mine.
"You go to college in two months," I acknowledged. What was the point in finally starting something with him when he was just going to leave? Alice and I were the youngest in our group. We were just going to beginning our senior year. Edward was the oldest, Emmett and Jasper, then it was me and Alice.
"So we figure that part out in two months." He offered gently kissing my cheek.
"Bella, Jazzy!" Alice chimed making me attempt to talk away. Jasper only grabbed my arm pulling me back into his arms. I couldn't help the giggle that escaped my lips as Jasper pressed his lips to mine giving me a quick kiss before he started walking to the door as well. "I was really hoping for some messed up hair at least," Alice joked low enough for only Jasper and I to hear. "Esme is riding in with Edwards girlfriend," Alice explained as we walked into the living room to see Carlisle and Edward sitting on the sofa.
Edward looked just the same as ever. His bronze hair seemed to glisten when any form of light would hit it, and his newly formed muscles were begging to be set free from the one size too small black tee shirt he was wearing. I'd always had a slight crush on Edward. Jasper waisted no time running down the stairs to give Edward a bear hug.
"How's college life man?" Jasper immediately asked making Edward's face light up.
"Hard work, but it's not bad." He answered easily keeping it short and sweet hearing Esme's car pull up. "Bella," Edward motioned towards me giving an approving head nod. "Someone's not fourteen and brace faced anymore." Edward teased lightly wrapping me up into a hug. I laughed smacking his chest. He breathed in deeply to my hair the way he always did when he hugged me, he always said he loved the way I smelled. "In all seriousness," Edward whispered low enough for only me to hear, "you're stunning." My cheeks flamed red as he let me go from his embrace and the front door opened.
"Time to meet the wicked witch of the west," Alice whispered seeing only a red high heel and porcelain skin.
"Rosalie?" Jasper announced immediately going frigid. The stunning blonde halting in the doorway hearing Jaspers voice. She looked like she had just seen a ghost. "You have got to be fucking kidding me?" Jasper spoke calmly shaking his head giving a humorless laugh. Every single person in the room looked just as confused as I felt.
"Jasper, you know Rose?" Edward hesitantly asked.
"A lot better than you guaranteed," He spat back not bothering to remove his eyes from her. "Do me a favor, sis, stay the fuck away from me." Jasper hissed side stepping her and storming outside.
"Uh, I'm just going to see where he's going," I announced quietly brushing past Edward following Jasper outside. I heard him grunting before I saw him. He punching the old tire swing we use to sit on for hours as kids. I didn't say anything to announce my presence only watched as he worked out his frustrations. He looked up spotting me from underneath his blonde hair and stopped. "You've never told me about your sister." I spoke softly as I sat on the tire swing looking up at him.
"How many times have I ever willingly talked about my family?" He might have been snappy, but he had a valid point. Jasper had been living with the Cullen's since he was thirteen. No one ever talked about why, they had always just said Jasper was their adoptive son. I'd known this family all my life, and not even I knew anything about Jaspers family.
"You just seem to hate her." Jasper pinched the bridge of his nose when I grabbed his shirt and pulled him so that he was standing between my legs.
"My dad wasn't a good guy. He used to beat my mom. Honestly that's the only thing I can remember about my dad. He would work all day, get drunk, and then he would get mad and he had to take it out on someone. It was my mom for a long time. Rosalie and I would hide in the bedroom under some stupid fort and listen to my mother scream in pain at whatever he was doing to her. He would beat me and Rosalie too, but never as bad as he would do to my mother. I was ten when they left, Rosalie was fifteen. My mom decided they needed a new start at life, one without their past bugging them. They left me with my father. Rosalie was fifteen, she knew she was leaving me to fend for myself against that fucking pig, she also knew I was ten and scrawny. I didn't have a chance. So yes, I hate her. She's a selfish bitch, just like my mother." I didn't know what to say. I didn't know any of that, I always asked about the scars that covered jaspers chest, but he always replied in some sarcastic manner. Maybe he wasn't joking about the fact that he got whipped when he broke a dish once. I only took a deep breath and gently pressed my lips to his.
"You're a good guy," I whispered running my fingers through his hair. Jasper only laughed moving his hand, so it was sitting on top of my leg. "We can go in and lock ourselves up in your room with Alice and Emmett. I'm sure they would be down for a movie night," Jasper shook his head snaking his hand under my dress. Jasper raised an eyebrow at me noticing that I wasn't wearing panties.
"Bold choice, Swan," Jasper whispered slipping a finger between my folds. "I can't promise I'll keep my hands off you," Jasper whispered slowly rubbing my clit. I let my head fall into his chest as quiet moans escaped my lips. It felt like electricity running through me whenever he touched me.
"Sorry to interrupt," Edward cleared his throat. I jumped, Jasper only slowly removed his hand out from underneath my dress and looked over to him. "Esme thinks it's a good idea if you come in and talk to Rose," Jasper only rolled his eyes, but he didn't argue. We all knew it was better to just do whatever Esme asked.
"See you in there," Jasper gave me a quick kiss before he vanished into the house.
"Since when do you let guys finger you on a tire swing?" Edward asked looking up at the stars. I crinkled my eyebrows at him waiting for him to explain the question. I knew he wasn't going to he was just going to stare at the sky.
"Since when do you care?" I shot back walking past him. I knew that conversation was just going to end in yelling. Any time we talked there it ended in yelling. Edward and I had a complicated past, everyone knew that. When Edward and I were kids we were inseparable, we dated in high school for a full year, never actually having sex, but 'practicing' other things. Then he left for college and that was the end of that. We never officially broke up; just told each other we wouldn't talk again until we saw each other.
"Movie night is with all of us tonight," Edward announced jogging to catch up to me. "Minus the parents obviously. Mom and dad are going to dinner, they're just making sure Rosalie and Jasper aren't going to kill each other. Can't say I blame Jazz though. Tough past," he spoke lightly as we walked into the house.
"Just like do me a favor?" I heard Jasper yell from the kitchen. "You vanished for seven years of my life; it shouldn't be hard for you to pretend like I don't exist. I don't want to get to know who you are now; I don't want to be your fucking friend. I want you to stay the fuck out of my life. You know who saved my life after you and my loving mother ditched me? Carlisle and Esme, I respect them enough to pretend like you're not even here. Show me the same." Everyone in the living room went silent.
"Stop acting like a baby. We had to get out! He was going to kill her!" Rosalie screamed back at him. "Getting in contact with you meant bringing him back into our lives. We worked so hard to keep him out!" Everyone followed Edwards lead walking into the kitchen. Jaspers fists were balled up the knuckles turning red. He slammed them down on the table so hard I was sure he'd done some damage. Rosalie jumped slightly.
"So instead, you both decide to leave a ten-year-old with an abusive motherfucker?" Jasper hissed. "Rose, you want to know how I ended up here? You want to know why this is my family? He almost fucking killed me." Jasper hissed glaring at her. "It only took three years after you guys left. Oh, that was a great three years. I dropped a plate and I got whipped. You remember what he uses to do to mom when he whipped her. You could have shoved me in the fucking trunk, you just disappeared never an explanation. And now the one I get is that you were scared? I was fucking scared too Rose!" No one bothered to step in. No one could. All they could do was mediate at this point.
"Jasper, we just couldn't…" Jasper shook his head bringing his hand to his face wiping away what I was sure were tears.
"Rosalie, mom just didn't want to." Jasper shook his head. "You were fifteen, old enough to talk sense into her. I would have never let her leave you with that animal. You think he took it easy on me because I was a boy? Let me tell you that sick motherfucker didn't care. We will never get passed this. I wish you and Edward the best. This is my family. You are not. You will never be my family."
"Hey," I spoke walking to Jasper lightly touching his back. "If Esme and Carlisle are okay with it, I've got a spare bedroom. You can cool off tonight we can come back in the morning for breakfast," I offered gently looking to Esme. Jasper scoffed making Esme walk over to him.
"Baby," she whispered making him look up. "This is your home. We are your family. I will put Edward and Rosalie up in a hotel for a few weeks, we will talk about this in the morning. Right now, I think it's a good idea for you to go with Bella. One thing you need to attempt to come to terms with is that Rosalie has come into Edwards life. For now, she's going to be around, and you will have to see her. You guys have so many unresolved feelings, that you need to eventually talk about them. You cannot hold onto this hatred," Esme whispered taking a deep breath.
"I'll be home in the morning," Jasper shook his head kissing Esme on top of the forehead.
"Breakfast is at eight o'clock sharp. I expect both of you to be here, on time," Esme sang.
