Chuuya finds out Dazai's and his children have been kidnapped and learns more about Dazai's childhood. The Mafia and Detective Agency work together to find out what's happened, as well as plan what to do next.

This takes place in the same timeframe as the first chapter.

"What the fuck do you mean?" Chuuya took a slightly too heavy step, reining his power in just in time, he didn't really want to pay to refloor Mori's office, again. "They've taken Dazai and the kids? Who are they? How?!"

"Please calm down Chuuya," Mori asked,

"Calm down?" I'd like to see you be calm when unknown people have kidnapped your children and your husband," he didn't care that Mori didn't actually have children or a partner, he just wanted answers.

"They aren't unknown Chuuya, we know exactly who they are and where they have taken them,"

"Then why are we still here?"

"Because this mission will involve a little subtly and because," Mori paused, "you need to be aware of Dazai's full past, specifically his childhood between age eight and eleven, before we leave."

That caught Chuuya's attention, and helped him calm down, a bit.

"Dazai doesn't remember his childhood." He stated, it was what Dazai had always told him.

"He hasn't lied to you Chuuya, he genuinely doesn't remember. Take a seat, before you wear a hole in my floor,"

Chuuya complied, as Mori continued,

"You two were made for each other, no not the fact you're fated mates. The group that put Arahabaki inside of you, also did experiments with other abilities. When you blew up their main facility, they realised that they needed someone to control you, especially when you unleash corruption. They only managed to stop you with a powerful sedative, which wasn't really a quick enough solution. Dazai was about one of three hundred children they experimented on, he's the only child the ability stuck with, the only one who could control it."

"What happened to the other children?" Chuuya interrupted

"They died, the attempt to meld an ability with someone isn't something that should be successful, very few have the temperament to take it. Most of the kids came from the street, some, like Dazai were given to the institute by their parents."

"His parents abandoned him?!"

"He was too intelligent for his own good, how he was when you met him at fifteen was how he's always been. His parents never wanted a child, and just wanted rid of him, but they were too well known in their community to just abandon him. My research tells me they told everyone they sent him to an institute for the intellectually gifted. It's a shame, he would have thrived there, in another life he would have been a genius, forever changing the landscape of whichever field he specialised in."

"How did he leave there? I'm guessing the place isn't easy to get into otherwise they wouldn't have taken him back there."

"They knocked him out and dumped him in the city, I think they followed him for a while – they were hoping he would act as a beacon for you and draw you in. I found him barely breathing outside my office one day, took out the tracking chip and patched him up. The memories of what they did to him and the others haunted him, he tried to kill himself practically every day, but he's practically invincible. I don't know what they did to him but you can't break his bones –"

"Hang on, I've seen Dazai wearing his arm in that stupid sling,"

"All for show, it made him feel more human and kept it a secret, he whines enough as it is. It's also why he is or well was, so obsessed with committing suicide, they made it so he can't die unless specific requirements are met, I've never found out what they are though,"

That was a lie, Mori knew exactly what the requirements were – Dazai would die when Chuuya did, when he'd outlived his usefulness, but he didn't need to freak out Chuuya or Dazai, especially now they had children.

"So, I hypnotised him, made him forget everything that happened, all he remembers about that bit of his childhood is a blurry sense of pain, or so he tells me. He seemed a bit happier after that, well, his suicide attempts had a little less urgency behind them. I made him write everything that happened before I did it though, just in case it was needed in the future."

"Why do they want Dazai and our children? Especially now, they've had plenty of time to find us,"

"I'm not really sure, I'm hoping that'll be explained when we met up with the Detective Agency shortly. I wanted to talk to you first, I'm afraid this experience will bring back Dazai's memories, and as he's never dealt with them in a healthy way, I'm not sure how he's going to react, his omega instincts should keep your children safe, but as for Dazai…" he trailed off

"He's never reacted in a predictable way to anything," Chuuya sighed, the sooner he had his family back the happier he was going to be.

"Exactly, Kouyou is currently briefing our members and the detective agency on an edited version of Dazai's past, and I'm hoping that super detective of theirs has the answers we need to form a plan," he paused, "there will be an element of the unknown, be prepared to use corruption."

"No. I am not using corruption." Chuuya stated,

"Why not? It is the perfect weapon,"

"You've already said Dazai may not be in the best state, and who will win? His instincts to protect our children or his instinct to save me? When he was pregnant the first time, Dazai and I agreed I wouldn't use corruption again, unless the world was ending. I couldn't live with myself if I harmed my children in that state, and because omega instincts are weird, Dazai doesn't feel confident he'd be able to stop me."

Mori was quiet for a moment as he considered Chuuya's words,

"I hadn't considered that, fine, corruption will be off the table for now."

There was a knock on the door, Hirotsu entered,

"If you are done here, Kouyou and Fukuzawa are ready to start the meeting,"

Mori nodded. He and Chuuya followed Hirotsu to the meeting room. On the Mafia side was Kouyou, Akutagawa, Higuchi, Gin and Kyoka, the agency had brought all of their ability users, and Ranpo. Mori took his seat at the top of the table with Chuuya next to him.

"I take it Kouyou has caught you all up with the situation?"

The table nodded.

"Excellent, what information have you managed to gather?"

"This group has been taking omega's for a while," Ranpo began, "I believe they are what helped to restart the attacks on omegas, all the violence and hatred was the perfect cover for the group to take them."

"What do they want them for?" Atsushi asked

"To sell. They are taken to countries with less omega's and sold to the wealthy." Ranpo paused, "it's not as bad as it sounds though, they're mainly used as surrogates for wealthy couples who can't have children – age or sexuality differences, alpha/alpha couples. The omega is treated almost like royalty and the group check on them often, any harm to the omega and they'll take them away. I think the kidnapped omega's are brainwashed into it slightly, but it's rare they object to the situation when it wears off."

"What does this have to do with Dazai and our children? He's a mated omega, they can't exactly sell him,"

"All I could find is allusions to classified experiments on omega/alpha couples who already have children. Fated mates like yourselves would be perfect to experiment on." Ranpo paused, "They're using him to lure you in, you're anxious about his whereabouts, now aren't you? You haven't even been separated that long,"

"I wouldn't be if someone would just get to the damn plan!" Chuuya replied, ignoring the glare from Ane-san for his outburst

"See, it would take an omega at least another day to get to that point," Ranpo trailed off as Chuuya started to glow

"Chuuya behave, acting like a child will not get Dazai and your children back any sooner," Ane-san told him.

"If I'd finished my report sooner I could've been there, could've stopped this from happening,"

"They would have gotten them anyway, this group plays the long game, what they want they will get." Ranpo added.

"Based off the information I think it will be best if we split into a few groups," Mori began, "do you have the map of the location Kunikida-san?"

"Yes, it's on the outskirts of the city, about a six-hour drive. They're setup in an abandoned tower block. My sources informed me that there was a lot of activity there last night, it looked like they were moving people and equipment, in dark vans. We do not know where they went. Despite that, a lone van was spotted approaching the building about an hour ago. The security is quite lax, it looks like the majority of their guard staff left last night. It's like they're expecting someone to break in."

"Perfect, Black Lizard Squad you will leave now, clear the way for Chuuya and a small team to go straight in. Whoever you come across I want captured alive." Mori instructed.

"We will gather the rest of the squad and leave now," Hirotsu and Gin bowed to Mori before leaving.

"Chuuya, Akutagawa, Atsushi and Kunikida will enter the building. Akutagawa and Kunikida will focus on capturing any staff left, I specifically want these two," Mori produced to very old photographs of Meddyg and Dihiryn, "I do not know their names, but I believe they are the masterminds behind this operation. They must be captured alive. Injured is fine, as long as they can't die from it."

"Understood," Kunikida replied as Akutagawa nodded.

"Atsushi will help to get the children out. Can they control Dazai's power yet?"

"Yes, the twins are very good at it, the quadruplets are getting there, but they're very good at copying whatever Eulalia and Fabian do, the babies haven't come into their abilities yet." Chuuya replied.

"Perfect, Atsushi if you can use your tiger form, it will get them out quicker. Chuuya, as we don't know what they're doing to Dazai or the children, it will be best if you just follow your instincts. Kunikida will drive you four, you can take one of our vehicles. Kouyou if you and Yosano take the medical truck, just in case the children or Dazai need treatment. I'm not expecting this to be a tough mission, so the rest of you can continue your regular duties. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to help us, the intel the agency found was incredibly helpful." Mori thanked Fukuzawa.

There was murmured good lucks, thanks, and goodbyes as everyone left the room.

Chuuya and others were quickly on the road, with Yosano and Ane-san tailing them. Chuuya was grateful all Mafia vehicles came with satnavs, he didn't think he could focus on a map today. Yosano had offered him a mild sleeping pill before they left, he said no to it and he was starting to regret that decision. Kunikida was focusing on the road, and Atsushi and Akutagawa were curled around each other in the back seat, fast asleep, leaving Chuuya alone with his thoughts and fears.

He was certain Dazai would be fine, his family was strong, together they would survive this.
