=============== Chapter 2 ===============

Two months earlier

The Ministry of Magic is bustling with people walking to-and-fro. Harry and Ron are the only living soul inside the Auror's office as the others are out for a mission and dark wizard investigation. Only the shuffling and stamping of papers of the two Aurors disturb the peace in the solitary place until the door flung open and a lady staff comes in with another pile of paperwork. She lays it on one of the tables and immediately left.

"Bloody hell! I swear if another pile comes in I'm gonna walk." Ron warned, pointing a finger at the now shut door.

Harry was just silent. He does not enjoy it either but just think that it's tolerable than what Ron makes it seem to be. After all his life's trouble, these 'paperwork' finally gave him some tranquility.

"Just because they relaxed their qualifications during our time doesn't mean they could make us paper junkies. 3 years of training for this?" Ron complained while scanning through what felt like his thousandth investigative paper for the day.

"C'mon Ron it's not that bad." Harry finally commented still completely plunged in what he's doing. Ron looked at him in horror. "And besides we'll be here for just 2 weeks."

"Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes is so much better than this." Ron whined, giving up on the last one he's been working on. "Well at least I have something to look forward to after this."

"What's up?" Harry asked.

"Eliza and I are going out for a movie later." Ron said happily. "And I still don't know what to give her for our 3rd anniversary." The redhead added, looking frustrated.

"Well you always come around. Eliza loves all your surprises. She's a keeper."

"You can come with us if you want."

"Yea, because being your third wheel Ron is so much fun." Harry huffed then quickly returned to his pile of paperwork.

"Hey, hey it's not my fault you're single." Ron said offended. "In fact, I'm the only one who's trying to make you NOT single. I helped you meet and date girls.." Harry cut him off.

"Girls, girls who are so obsessed with 'the boy who lived' and not me." Harry objected nonchalantly.

"True." Ron agreed who appears to be in deep thought. "You are not just Harry, the boy who lived, you are Harry, Ron's third wheel" Ron teased which Harry deliberately ignored. "Well, I can set you up with some of Eliza's friends."

"I appreciate it Ron, really, but no thank you." Harry replied offhandedly.

"Do you really wanna die single Harry?"

"Stop overreacting. I'm 22. I'm not gonna die."

"Funny 'cause you almost died when you were still a baby and every life years after that." Ron said sarcastically. "May I just say? Kreacher's grumpiness is slowly sinking in you. I'm just saying, you should go out sometimes, have fun."

"Doesn't mean if I'm not going out, I'm not having fun. Just blame that to the press. They are the worst. I can't even step a foot out of my home without a camera in my face."

"Perks of being the biggest hero huh?"

Harry exhales a breath of relief after he finished his pile and for the first time giving Ron his full attention. "You know, I appreciate all the effort mate but it's just unnecessary." Harry explained. "Well because, because.." He trailed off. 'Should I really tell him about my feelings for Hermione.' Harry thought.

"Because what?" Ron asked impatiently.

"There's this girl who I've been trying to" Harry began, not knowing how to put it. "..date for a while."

"That's why my set ups for you didn't work because there is already someone?" Ron asked his eyes narrowed in disbelief to which Harry nodded. "That long? Wow. How come I didn't know about this?"

"Uhmm well I just couldn't get the guts to." Harry sighed. "Because we met her in Hogwarts. We are friends with her. We are actually really close with her." Harry paused for little. 'This is it! Just tell him the name.' He thought. "You know… you know... Her.. Her.." Harry stuttered. 'Just freaking say Hermione, you coward!'

"Her-Her-Hermio-" Ron mouthing his guess. Harry cuts him off.

"Her-name-is-Luna!" Harry announced in a manner that's almost unintelligible. "Yea that's right Luna. Her name is Luna. That's what I was supposed to say. Her name is Luna." He lied nervously.

"Luna! Wow. I should've known. I've always wondered why you two are so close. Wow Harry. Wow." Ron said, his eyes popping in shock and he's shaking his head in disbelief.

"Yea, yea" Harry agreed. 'No, no you Harry freaking coward! It's Hermione! Not Luna! Hermione!' His thoughts disagreed.

"For a second I thought you were gonna say Hermione." Ron chuckled softly. Harry shivered.

"Why? Will it bother y–" Harry asked just to be cut off.

"Hermione? Of course not." Ron clarified. "Our dating was a 'caught in a war' kind of. Nothing serious. I told you that right?"

"Oh yea. Caught in a war." Harry repeated absent-minded.

"So what's your plans with her?"

"Plans with who?" Harry asked confused.

"With Luna."

"Oh Luna. Uhmm I don't know?" Harry shrugged. 'You started the lie and might as well get along with it.' He thought. "Ron, just don't tell anyone. I don't wanna be pressured to rush things."

"Of course mate." Ron assured Harry.

Telling secrets to Ron was always such a gamble. It's not that he's not trustworthy but because he always speaks his mind and unintentionally say things that shouldn't be.

"But what's holding you back?" Ron asked.

"I don't know." Harry sighed. There was a comfortable silence. "Everyone thought our relationship was platonic and for a long time that's what I thought so too. To be honest I'm not scared of rejection. I'm scared that I'll lose our friendship in the process. I don't wanna risk it."

"Then you don't love her enough." A female voice commented from behind. The two lads quickly turned just to see Eliza behind them. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to eavesdrop. I got out early from work and thought I could visit."

"How long were you there?" Ron asked.

Harry just fell silent. He was not mad. He was deep in his thoughts. Her last words struck him to the core. 'I don't love her enough?'

"Don't worry I heard no names. I really didn't me- " She apologized raising his hands up in surrender.

"What do you… what do you mean by that Eliza?" Harry asked softly.

"Well Harry. I don't know who this girl but if she's really that important to you. You'd risk everything for her." Eliza replied.

"Yea mate. You should really go and tell Lu-" There goes 'the Ron keeping secrets gamble', Harry looked at him sharply. He then realized he almost spilled the beans. He cleared his throat. "...tell her"

"Well. I don't wanna keep you two from your date." Harry smiled, breaking the silence. He stood up and hovered his arms up to the two lovebirds and kindly escorted them out.

"We'll talk about this mate." Ron said.

"Of course no worries." Harry replied.

As soon as they bid their farewell, Harry went back to the office. He realized what mess he's made by telling Ron about it and much worse dragging Luna into the mess.

"I have to talk to Luna." Harry said to himself.
