In the early morning, I'm breastfeeding Alessa as I sit in the living room with Seth. We sit on the couch together, Seth places his arms around me and I press my body closer to him. The warmth and gentle touch of his arm against my neck makes my back tingle.
Alessa stops sucking on my breast and I watch her slowly close her eyes as she slips into slumber.
Seth kisses my cheek. "She's been so calm." He remarks.
I smile at him. "Probably because you're here, she loves it when it's you around," I say.
Seth's eyes widens, his lips curl. "Really?" He gives Alessa a loving gaze.
I give Seth a small peck on the cheek. "She's a little Daddy's girl, already!" I remark. "She loves to scream and cry whenever I'm holding her."
Seth smirks at me when I say that. "Well, maybe I should get ready to move in." I could tell he was joking and I frown.
I let out a long sigh. "You can. My apartment is closer to Fairbook than your apartment." I encourage. "It's only 10 minutes away so you will never worry about being late."
Seth averts his gaze from me. "I know. I know. Trust me, I want to move in. I do and I will. But now I don't have time to move out. The deadlines are coming and they need my full attention."
I sigh heavily. "I know. I know. I just would love it if you moved in," I give him another kiss on the cheek. Seth's eyes glazed with an unreadable emotion. I feel as if he had more to say, but I could tell he couldn't articulate it.
"As I said, I do. I want to. But just not right now." He reassures me. He then changes the channel on the TV. "Mind if I hold her?" Seth asks, reaching out his hands. I obliged and hand Alessa to him. A loving expression appears on his face and I feel my heart flutter.
Alessa is soundly asleep, not disturbed by the sudden movement.
I decide to take the high road. "Look, I get it. Your job is very important. If we are going to give Alessa what she needs, it's best if we both work and make sure that we are both financially stable."
Seth looks me directly in the eyes and smiles brightly at me. His beautiful dimples send tender warmth through my veins.
We both watch TV for several hours, I press my head on Seth's shoulder, relishing his comforting warmth into my skin. Alessa peacefully asleep, I listen to her gentle breathing. I feel so tranquil at this moment. I never felt so comfortable before, so relaxed.
It is a lovely moment for me. Just me, my boyfriend, and my daughter all together in harmony.
We remain this way until Melissa finally arrives. She loudly knocks on the door, instantly awakening Alessa. She starts to scream her head off, furious that she has been awoken from her peaceful slumber.
Seth is quick thinking, cradling Alessa in his arms, he hurries to her bedroom, Alessa's wailing bouncing off of the walls.
I rub my temples, all of my relaxations has seeped away from me in an instant. "Thanks, Melissa." I grumble under my breath. I hurry to the front door and I look through the peephole. Melissa and my nieces all waiting for me to open the door.
I open it and I force my exhausted face to smile. The instant I open the door, my youngest nieces, Emma and Riley barrel rolls me and embraces me. Their eyes gleamed with delight. "AUNTIE! AUNTIE!" Emma is very loud, Alessa's screaming resonates through the house.
I put a finger up to my lips and was about to scold Emma, but Melissa beats me to it. "Be quiet. Alessa is asleep!" She rebukes sharply.
Emma turns her head to Melissa. "But I'm not doing anything wrong!" She whines. But Melissa is relentless. "Come here, young lady!" She barks. Emma frowns, looking like she is on the verge of tears.
I didn't want any drama in my home, so I decide to mediate the situation. "It's okay, Em. I'm planning on ordering a pizza tonight." I tell her.
Emma's mood brightens, her sweet treble voice rings throughout the apartment. "Can we see her?" She begs, grabbing my hand tightly.
I smile. "Of course," I glance up to see Melissa shooting me a bitter glare, but I ignore it.
"We need to talk," Melissa says curtly. I resist the urge to roll my eyes and I proceed to take all of my nieces into Alessa's bedroom.
Olive gasp softly at the sight of her, tender tears flows in her eyes. "She is so cute!" She exults.
Seth allows Sydney to hold her, all of the girls surround Sydney, gazing at Alessa as she was the most precious person in the world. It is a beautiful sight to see, I think of Louis. I know he would love Alessa, just as much as he loved his daughters.
A wave of deep sorrow rolls through me. I quickly dismiss Louis from my mind. If I kept thinking of him, I would break down.
"Mila." I jump at the sudden voice of Melissa behind me. I turn around to see her standing in the doorway with a dour expression.
She beckons me to come to her. I did and we both gather at the dining table.
"I'm not giving you money anymore." These are the first words Melissa says once I sit down.
My eyes widen with alarm. "Excuse me?" I narrow my eyes at her. "I did not ask for any money, Melissa!" I feel anger boiling inside of me. I mean what the hell?
Melissa is unfazed. Her stern expression remains, her eyes cold, her voice clipped. "Mila, I have four children to take care of. I can't focus on paying for a 20-year-old mother's lifestyle. You better stay working harder at your job, because I will no longer loan you anything!" I glare at her, my nostrils flaring.
I refuse to let Melissa speak to me like this. "Melissa, watch it! This is my apartment! Don't think you can come up here and act like you own the place, alright? You can leave! You can leave! I don't care what the fuck your issue is, but you will not come up in MY house and talk to me like this!" I flare.
Melissa rolls her eyes at me. I feel like I'm nine again. After my mother died, my father gained custody of me. Melissa was older than me and we were not fond of each other.
Melissa was always a thorn in my side. I remembered how I hated spending time with her when I was little. Of course, I loved and cared for her, but it is difficult to bond with her.
"Melissa, I am not a kid anymore. Having Alessa was my decision, my decision alone! I don't need your fucking money!" My voice shrill with rage.
I watch as Melissa's face contorts with unbridled rage, her eyes are flaring with contempt. "How dare you speak to me like that? I have been paying and loaning to you for years! How dare you speak to me like this? What is wrong with you? I paid your rent, I helped you pay for your car, I helped you get accepted by that college! I'M the one that introduced you to Fairbook! You have no idea how much I have done for you! You are never grateful for my generosity!"
I roll my eyes, jolting from my chair as I point a furious finger in her face. "Melissa, I am not a little girl. I can take care of myself! I do not need you anymore! I have a job, I have a working boyfriend, and I can afford rent!"
"Are you planning to have a second child?" Melissa abruptly demands, obviously not caring for my previous statements.
I'm taken aback and I squint at her. "I'm not thinking about anything right now!" I snap. "Don't avoid the fucking question!"
Melissa pushes a dark bang out of her eyes. "I am asking the important question. You are already not ready for Alessa. So you are definitely not ready for a second one!"
I hear a slight commotion in the background and I turn my head towards it. I see the girls all standing near the doorway of the dining room, all perturbed and agitated at our argument.
I want to tell them that everything is fine, but Melissa still keeps talking. "Seth is just a plain loser, Mila. You can do better! He is a sleazeball. No doubt he is sleeping with another woman behind your back. Don't be stupid! What do you think Stella would say if she saw you right now?"
I have enough. I slam my fists on the dining table with all of my might. "SHUT UP! SHUT THE FUCK UP, MELISSA! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE! I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN!" I shoot a finger at the front door. I'm so enraged at this moment that I'm seeing red, I couldn't even hear Alessa's fussy screaming in the background.
Melissa stands up from her chair, toppling the chair to the floor. I ball up my fists, doing my best to not go up to her and smack her across the face.
"OUT! OUT!" I yell.
Melissa scowls bitterly. "Mila, lower your voice when you speak to me! Nancy and Dad are disappointed in you, just as much as me! What do you think Stella and Louis are thinking of you right now?"
I stomp to the front door, unlock it, and yank the door open. "GO! NOW! GO INTO YOUR DAMN CAR!" I holler.
Melissa gives me a contemptuous look. I know that I have pushed her buttons. She looks like she is ready to slap me.
"If I go," Her voice is cold and threatening. "You will never see any of the girls ever again!"
"NO!" Olive runs between us. She is crying. Olive was always a sentimental soul. She approaches Melissa with a sob. "Please, Auntie! I still want to see Alessa!" She pleads.
Sydney comes towards us, Alessa is no longer in her arms. She is straightforward and blunt. "Just stop the both of you! You're both acting like kids!" She admonishes.
Melissa glares at both of the girls. "Enough, you two! Go to the car!" She commands. Her eyes flick to me. "Aunt Mila doesn't want us here!"
Melissa ignores both of the girls' incessant pleas and forces them out of my apartment. She slams the door behind her so hard that it reverberates.
I feel a torrent of tears rushing down my cheeks. I break down from the intensity of the altercation, I do everything I could to not drop my knees and curl up into a ball. I press my back against the front door, covering my face with my hands as I release broken sobs. I think of Stella and I cry harder. Waves of pain wash over me, and my body convulses to meet each one.
I vividly remember the last day I saw her. On the morning of that day, Stella was in a foul mood. She was upset over something she refused to disclose to me.
But the rest of the day went on swimmingly. By the time Stella went off to her college class, she reverted back to her usual bubbly mood where she would talk for hours and hours. Stella was excited about her blooming acting career, she was arranged to be a background character in an upcoming horror movie. I never heard her so happy before.
That was the last time I saw her.
I never got to tell her I loved her one last time. I will never see her sunny smile, I will never hear her giggle, I will never hear her gentle, but lively voice. The days after her death was the hardest. I had to come home to a lifeless apartment, every time I entered her bedroom, I'm reminded that Death has ruthlessly taken her away from me. I had to move. I couldn't bear another minute in that apartment.
"Mila?" I hear Seth's soft voice.
I turn my head to see Seth. Compassion overflows through his eyes, steadily striding towards me. "Are you okay?"
I couldn't control my fervent emotions. "DO I LOOK OKAY?" I scream. I shoot a finger at the front door. "THAT BITCH CAME UP IN HERE AND HUMILIATED ME!"
I pause when I hear Alessa crying again. No doubt disturbed from all of the loud commotions. A powerful wave of guilt surges through me.
No. No. Alessa should not hear this. But all of my emotions are violently lashing inside of me, threatening to burst out.
"You do not understand how much Melissa has put me through! Now, I will never see my nieces ever again!" I bawl.
Seth sighs heavily. "She's bluffing. She isn't going to keep your nieces away from you." He placates.
I raise my voice. "How do you know that? Melissa isn't a person that jokes around!"
"Because it's inhuman. She's upset, so she's saying crazy shit, but she doesn't mean it." Seth explains.
I couldn't think straight. I thought Seth would be on my side, but here he is making excuses for Melissa. "WHY ARE YOU ON HER SIDE?" I accuse.
Seth frowns at me. "Mila, I am not on anyone's side!" He does his best to not yell. "Alessa is asleep!"
"Shut up, Seth!" I throw my hands into the air. "I'm stressed out enough and you are standing here like a bag of dumbbells!"
Seth begins to lose patience. "I'm not! I'm trying to help you! Just stop yelling, Alessa is trying to sleep. There is no reason for you to be yelling." He gestures to himself. "I'M not your enemy here!" His face reddens.
I'm done. I roll my eyes and I storm into Alessa's bedroom. I hear Seth muttering something under his breath before heading into another room.
Seth was wrong when he claimed that Melissa was bluffing. Melissa never bluffs. For weeks, I would only speak to the girls on the phone or on skype as Melissa refused to come to my apartment to visit.
Personally I didn't want to see her either and we did not speak to each other for a long time. You may think this is immature and it is. I know how I'm acting is petty, but it feels so good. Melissa isn't exactly innocent herself, considering she started this predicament. I doubt neither of us will ever apologize to each other.
…
Me and Seth were on sour terms after our argument. He would still come over to my apartment for Alessa, but we did not speak or even look at each other. It was a strange state in our relationship. We were not broken up, but I felt that our love was hanging on a thin thread.
It's not until January 24th when something amazing rekindled our relationship. Christian Grey's conviction.
Seth and I were at my apartment, Alessa is soundly asleep in her crib. Seth and I are staring at my cell phone as we watch a live stream on the trial. For the most part, I evade everything to do with the trial because I feel like I would emotionally break if I'm in the same room with Christian.
I'm smiling ear to ear as I hear the judge reads out Christian Grey his charges. Christian is a sight to see, once a successful and poised man who wears sharp business suits to a disheveled man in an orange jumpsuit. He has grown a stubble beard, his eyes were sunken with heavy bags, I see one single tear roll down his cheek.
He attempted to justify his actions by pulling all of the bullshit excuses he could think of. He starts to cry about his two children he shared with Anastasia Steele. Weeping about how he would never see his daughter walking down the wedding aisle, how he and his son would never spend time watching movies together. He proclaimed his love for his two children.
Then he announces that Amanda Carpenter was pregnant with his child.
My breath stifled in my throat. "What the fuck?" That's when I notice Amanda was sitting in the front row, I was so fixated on Christian, I did not pay attention to the crowd behind him.
"My daughter or son will never see their Father ever again. I am innocent, I was wronged in life, and I snapped," He looks directly at the judge. "I hope you know that. I hope you know that my child will never see their Father free. I will never be able to spend time with him or her. I will be trapped in a hellhole because I snapped. I snapped because I was unable to bear any more acrimony anymore. I have been cheated, I have been abused, and I've been betrayed. Any human would snap in my situation," The judge interrupts him and silences him. He did not care for Christian's pitiful statements and proceeds to give him his sentence.
I feel as if I'm going to burst with elation when I hear that he has been sentenced to life. I stare at Christian, he lowers his head to the table, his body starts to tremble terribly.
"YES!" I throw my fists in the air. I'm so happy, I feel as if I could do backflips. "Burn in hell, you son of a bitch!" I shout at the screen.
I feel as if I'm on a powerful drug at this moment. I feel the electricity dancing in the air as I lay my eyes on Seth. Seth stands close enough for me to breathe in his scent. Gazing at his stocky figure, his lovely round face. I feel as if I could do anything at this point. Without thought, I kiss Seth passionately. Seth kisses me with mutual passion, rubbing his hands on my back.
I dig my fingers into his soft hair, relishing his sweet lips. I pull away and stare into his glistening eyes. His arms envelop around my back and in one gentle pull our skin touches. We kiss wildly like two savage animals, both of us trapped in a scene of lust. I feel my legs moving as if there is an unseen force pushing us to the bedroom.
I don't resist this force, I thank it. My Seth is with me. Christian Grey will rot in prison. That is all that matters.
We hurry into my bedroom, automatically Seth slips away from me, closing the door behind him. Feverishly yanking down his pants. I gaze at his lower area with a toothy grin. Excitement surges through me wildly.
Our bodies fit together as if we were made for each other. Every kiss has a raw intensity, breathing fast, heart races faster. I dig my nails into Seth's soft skin, Seth's hands are tugging my hair. I straddle him propelling my tongue into his tender mouth. He shove himself inside of me, changing my breathing with every thrust, hearing my moans timed to his body. Within two minutes, Seth releases out an animalistic groan and burst inside of me with his explosive seed, yelling out my name.
There are no words to describe the love I have for this man.
Next chapter will come soon.
