Chapter 2- the interview
Evelyn's pov- 16 years later (Evelyn 16y.o.)
" its going to be ok." I chant to myself outside of the company's building.
I have been living for 16 years on my own. Well not totally on my own. I have spent all my life in the system, jumping from home to home, and after a certain point I have been taking care of myself. I have no clue who my parents may be and I don't care much.
But now I am on my way to get emancipated. Actually I am on my way to this interview at GEH. There is an opening for a PA's position that will look really good in my resume and will convince the judge to sign my emancipation, aka my freedom. I know it's a long shot but with my grades, I think I got it.
"well, let's do this" I say to myself and enter the building.
-hello, I am here for the interview for the PA position. My name is Evelyn Evans.
-go to the 2nd flour.
The blonde secretary responds without even glancing at me a second time.
At the second floor there is a sterile waiting area with a lot of tall sophisticated looking women. I feel a little out of my comfort zone wearing just my lbd. I find a seat and wait for my turn for the interview while examining the other women and the elegant waiting area.
After some time a woman emerges from the room and calls my name. with shaking hands I enter the interview.
"hello, I am Andrea."
"hello. My name is Evelyn Evans. I am here for the PA's position" I say trying to sound as professional as I can.
Mrs Andrea starts asking me all king of question and I have to say that it couldn't go any worse. After my every answer she is shaking her head in a disappointed way.
"listen kid, I don't know why you are here but I don't think that you are fit for the position. I mean you have zero experience and not even a stable home address. Your grades and gpo are perfect but …"
"please give a chance. I know I can face the challenge"
"I don't know, this may be a secretary's position but its serious. I mean working directly with the boss. Well actually directly with me and I am his PA"
"Please I know you don't care about that stuff but I have already graduated high school and I need a stable job to get emancipated."
She takes a deep breath and says "wait here" and she exits the room leaving me alone .
After 30 minutes that feel more like 10 hours she comes back.
"well I have good news. The boss is in a good mood and decided to give you one week trial period. If you succeed then you got the job."
"thank you so much! I promise you, you won't regret it".
