Chapter 2

After walking for a while the trio eventually found themselves at a compound that was located in the back of the end of the clan district. According to the third you can tell at what point a clan joined the village based on how back they are in the clan district with the exception being the uchiha clan who lived away to serve as the police in the past. Coming to a stop they found themselves facing a clan house compound which was surrounded by white and red walls except for the front where there was a door blocking the entrance. Adorning the walls was a giant Spiral that was red.
"Here we are Naruto, place your hand on the door to unlock it. Once it's done so and recognizes you then we can all walk in otherwise we are stuck." Hiruzen said and moved to the side to let Naruto enter.
"But wait old man how come you and Haku jump over the wall. I know you're old and all but we're still ninja?" Naruto said as he came to a stop.
"Ah well here allow me to show you." Hiruzen said as he produced an earth clone. The clone then leaped on one of the nearby trees and vaulted over the walls only to smack into nothing and disappear. After dissipating with a poof seals started to appear in the air over and on the walls.
"If you recall Naruto-kun your mother's clan was famous for their sealing so of course they would protect their home. Hence why we need you to signify yourself as an uzumaki. Fun fact too this compound is so safe and secure that for a long time ago it was set up as an emergency hiding base for the hokage as the seals are so strong and hard to break into. " Hiruzen said.
Nodding after getting his explanation Naruto let go of Haku's hand and walked over to the seal. Placing his palm on the door he started pumping chakra. Once again the seals appeared and glowed but this time it was in a mixture of blue and orange. After a few moments it glowed brightly and then disappeared. Removing his hand, Naruto looked and saw the swirl start to spin and recede before the door opened.
Whistling Naruto said "I see what you meant with eccentric personalities and I can see where I got it from because that was cool!"
Chuckling at Naruto acting like a boy, Hirzuen started to walk again as Naruto and Haku waited and fell into step with him. Walking past the doors you could see like the other compounds it had its fair share of greenery and trees however surrounding the houses themselves were small ponds of water. Each house was held by support beams over the water and bridges connecting to and from, in a way it almost looked like a cluster of small islands. Naruto continued with Haku to take in the views and realize how comforting this feels. Making their way across the bridges Hiruzen stopped at all the major ones and explained their purpose. Making a clockwise motion the building in front of the doors was a prep station for any ninjas preparing for their missions, then the weapon house, library, Store houses, homes for the clan members and a burial ground for members. Lastly after making a full clockwise rotation around the complex they ended up at the final building in the heart of the complex. The clan house and where his new home was.
Taking a deep breath to calm himself down Naruto opened the door and turned to turn the lights on. After flickering it on, what stood there waiting for him was a massive living room with the walls painted in ocean blue waves. "Welcome home Naruto, why don't you and Haku look around first before we sit down and talk, I'll go and make sure that the power is running in the other places?."
Nodding to the old man he turned back to Haku when he felt her squeezing his hand again. Giving her a gentle smile and nod he continued to look around his new home. Opening the door to the right he saw that it was a massive kitchen with a large clan sized dinner table. Looking back he saw that it led to a personal garden and training area. Going back to the living room and looking left he saw there is a room where books and scrolls all lined across the walls. Once again he went back to the living room and saw behind the sliding doors were stairs that lead up and down. Going upstairs he saw that there were doors lined across the walls. Some of them had names listed. One of them made him pause as it said "Minato and Kushina" Taking a second to slowly and gently run his fingers across the name as if scared it would break and disappear. Promising he would come back he kept walking down the hallway to the next door to find his current target. Adorned on the wall was his name "Naruto".
He paused as he was scared to open it. He knew nothing would attack him or make him sad but it still just felt anxious to himself. "Come now master I would like to see your new room. Maybe depending on the time we could even break it in if you desire?" Haku said with a wink
"I swear I don't get girls at all. The moment I would joke about anything to Sakura-chan like you do it would result in me getting smacked around. Ugh well regardless let's see what's in the room" naruto said as he grabbed the handle with a blush. "Oh and cut it out we are not breaking in anything"
"Whatever you say master." Haku said giggling
"Cut that out." Naruto said as he opened the door with haste to run away from Haku's teasing. What awaited him was an autumn orange wall. On the bottom of the walls were waves and whirlpools. On the upper part of the walls were green leaves sprinkling all over the place. In a way it kind of symbolized the entire clan house and the feelings that it gave to him. In the corner he saw a baby crib with blankets and a little crib toy hanger on top holding little stars, leaves, and oddly enough a plush bowl of ramen. Holding back the tears he continued to look and see that there was a dresser there with a scroll laying on it. Seeing the familiar scroll he took a deep breath before unlocking it. Unfurling it Naruto started to read out loud what it said
"Welcome one and all to Kushina and Minato's grand scavenger hunt! We hope all the contestants are just as excited as we are to be playing today's game! (Although there is only one of you) Anywho Naruto seeing as you're reading this it is obvious that you are old enough to not be sleeping in a crib . . .hopefully but under the text you will see a seal. Inside it has a brand new bed, table, desk, and a myriad of other things! Oh me oh my how generous of Kushina-sama to get all of these incredible gifts for her son. Anywho moving onwards to continue to the next part of your scavenger hunt you will have to go into our room! Once there you will find another scroll hidden so use that brain of yours. Oh and before I let you go, don't be afraid to break in that bed because even if mommy is gone she wants grandkids!
Ps I hope you like the wallpaper. It was mommy and daddy's idea. We were set on the whole idea of whirlpools and leaves but kept fighting on the color in the middle. Minato wanted it to be yellow while I wanted it to be red and eventually we decided on orange because yellow and red equal orange! I swear we are genius and I hope our amazing intellect passes to you!"
Blushing at the bed statement and then giving a chuckle at the message in the bottom naruto set down the scroll before he put chakra into the seal and allowed all the furniture to fall. Creating some shadow clones he let them work on setting up the room before he left with a giggling Haku. 'I swear I am surrounded by perverts.' Naruto thought before he opened the door. Heading over to his parents room he took another deep breath before opening it.
Like the other room it was wide and spacious however the wallpaper was different as it was colored with a deep red on the sides. On the ceiling was a subdued yellow to compliment it and on the center wall was an orange Uzumaki symbol. Under it was a bed with dressers aligned on the sides. Nodding to Haku the both of them started looking around the dressers and drawers only to come up blank as everything was empty. "What the hell did mom forget to place a scroll here or something?" Naruto said scratching his head "For that manner where are all their clothes and such?"
"Hmm well Naruto-sama I believe that the answer lines with us finding a seal. After all it seems that everything is answered with seals." Haku said as she closed the dresser she was looking at. Nodding he looked until his eye was caught once again by the uzumaki symbol. Cocking an eyebrow and shrugging he walked to it and pushed chakra into it. With a poof a scroll appeared and dropped on the bed.
"Amazing master what made you think of pushing chakra on the swirl!?" Haku said as she walked over to Naruto.
Turning around naruto rubbed the back of his head "Well I mean it seems that while my family like to be clever and be smart, we have a tendency to make everything spiral or circle related. From the doors to the wall to the layout of the compound. I'm kinda curious if they know any shapes besides circles?"
Sweatdroping at his basic reasoning haku shook her head before she picked up the scroll and handed it to naruto. Once again naruto opened the scroll and started reading.
"Yes asshole we do know other shapes besides circles. It's just our thing so suck it." Naruto said as he read the first line. "Thanks mom" Naruto mumbled as he continued reading the scroll "Anywho moving on to part two of Minato and Kushina's grand scavenger hunt. Firstly congrats on finding our room it must have taken you forever to find it! (if we remembered to remove our name plate otherwise fuck that took you like half a min to walk over). Moving onwards you may be wondering where our stuff is and why it seems to be another empty room but that's because we haven't moved in yet! We're still waiting for you to be born so we are still living in the hokage's mansion. However as a gift for finding this second scroll mommy is going to give you some new clothes. Just activate the seal and bam you'll have new duds to impress all the girls! In addition to that I also placed a jacket that is similar to what your dad wore during his genin days! Maybe you can also be the knight in shining armor for someone else like he was to me! Lastly the last part of this scavenger hunt will be in the basement! Ooh spooky! Don't cry because mommy can't wipe those tears! Anywho mom out see you later!
"This lady is fucking insane." Naruto said plainly as he finished the statement. Once again he repeated the process of putting chakra and with a poof out came a bundle of clothes. While he left the neatly piled one to the side for his clones to grab he saw that there was a single jacket lying on top. Picking it up he examined the windbreaker. It was created with a thin yet sturdy material, the outer color being autumn orange. Lining the sleeves and collars was a dark navy blue with black trimmings. Giving it a smile he put it on himself. "Fits like a charm" Naruto said out loud before summoning more clones to grab the clothes and bring them in.
"it really does look dashing on you Naruto-sama." Haku said while she nodded to herself. It was less puffy and more fitting then his last one and it was a darker orange-red so it felt less offensive. Plus it showed off his figure more which was a plus in her book. Lastly it also didn't look as cheap as his old jacket nor as uncomfortable which also was a plus. "Anyway master shall we finish our little scavenger hunt here set by your mother and go to the basement?"
Seeing Naruto nod the two of them walked down the hall and down the stairs to the basement. There unlike the rest of the house was surrounded by stone. The edges were all smooth to the touch and looked natural in a way almost as if they were eroded. Standing in the middle of the room was a simple marble pedestal with a scroll on it. Walking over to it naruto grabbed the scroll and saw the familiar seal. Repeating the process naruto opened it and like before read it outloud.
"No puzzle this time sadly there were no swirls or anywhere to hide a scroll. Anywho welcome to the grand finale to Minato and Kushina's grand scavenger hunt, I hope you had a good time playing with us. Honestly I wouldn't be able to die in peace if I didn't get a chance to play with my son once in his life. Anywho the bottom here is where your final reward lies. On the pedestal is a series of seals that can only be activated by the uzumaki bloodline and more specifically the head of the clan. Since you have gotten these letters it means that you are the last therefore the clan leader. So once you're done here go activate it and look outside and then when you get a chance read up in the library. Now that that is done I shall conclude the grand hunt. Congrats winner!"
"Now that the pleasantries are over with, Naruto my son I love you so much. You mean the world to me and honestly I am so sorry that I am not there for you. Currently as I'm writing this I am close to your birth and while I've been trying to have fun with this game it is only making me cry. I don't want you to have to ever read this but if you do then it means me and Minato are gone. I hope your childhood has been pleasant or at least decent. I hope you have lots of friends and make sure to eat more than ramen (or at least add veggies!) and that maybe you might even have a girlfriend (or a couple!). I also hope that you forgive your foolish parents for not being there to guide you and teach you everything and while this isn't a substitute I do have two last gifts for you. One seal has something that I was working on to give you when you became a genin. It'll have a note explaining why it's so kickass! The other gift is that if you go back to your room after activating the power go check your room. Look at the wall and you may see some seals. There lies all of the justus that your dad and I used. Now keep in mind that all of them aren't able to be unlocked with simple chakra or blood. You'll need to learn sealing for some of them. No whining now, we may be loud brash and a bit dumb but all Uzumaki's learn sealing. Hell your dad did and he doesn't even have my and hopefully your gorgeous red hair (Although you'll look dashing with Minato's hair!). That's enough from me as I feel you kicking and I need to get some rest. Maybe I may have a chance to write more so be on the lookout on any of the scrolls for anything. Remember that mommy loves you with all her heart, that you are a kickass boy, and that no matter how many times you fall that you'll always have both Minato and us to pick you back up! Now get out there, wipe the tears and get me some grandkids along with being Hokage!"
"Ps. talk to Kyuubi when you get the chance you both need to work together and don't forget to eat more than ramen. I don't want my son to be short!"
Laughing, Naruto desperately tried to hold back the tears but he couldn't. They just kept flowing as he clutched the scroll into his heart. "I love you too mom, thank you for playing with me. I really loved it. Also I promise I'll eat more than ramen or at least add veggies. Also as much as I'm not sure about getting multiple girls we'll see what happens." He then felt a warmth from behind him and saw Haku's arms wrap themselves around him.
"Don't worry Naruto it's going to be okay. It's okay to let it out but afterwards remember to follow your mom's advice okay?" Haku said as she laid her head on Naruto's back
"Yes Haku, thank you." Naruto said as he relaxed in her grip
"Of course just remember to do it all including the grandkids!" Haku said with a giggle.
Laughing Naruto left Haku's embrace "Not yet I'm still too young for that but one day."
Placing down the scroll he did the same thing and out came a Navy blue scarf. Bordering it was a dark red and it also had red stripes on it. Along it was a small note. Picking both them up he fitted the scarf on himself before reading it
'This is the ultimate union of Kushina Uzumaki's badass knitting skills with Minato Namikaze's stellar sealing skills! Written on the scarf are seals that keep you warm in cold environments and cool in hot environments. On top of that it also is highly durable and is also shrinkable so to not get in the way during a fight. Lastly if you place extra chakara it also can serve as an emergency field blanket for yourself! Man we are the best anywho I hope you like it lots Naruto!'
'From Mom and Dad.'
Wiping more tears from his face he breathed it in and felt it comfort him. In a way it fit so comfy that it almost reminded him of what he would imagine his parent's embrace would feel like.
After folding the note and putting it into his jacket he walked to the pedestal and saw the seals manifest in front of him. Biting his thumb he rubbed it on the center of the seals. Glowing orange it started to spread before it seemed to leak upstairs. Walking back up he went to the front door and opened it to follow the seals. His eyes widened as the orange glow enveloped the entire compound making the night sky look like it went back to sunset. Then he heard a sound and looked at the ponds. They slowly started to rotate before becoming mini whirlpools. "It looks just like my room." Naruto said breathless before the beauty staring at him. Afterwards the orange started to fade away and left the whirlpools lazily spinning. There on the side he saw Hiruzen walking his way back over the bridge. Letting him in, the trio went and sat in the living room.
"So Naruto I'm sure you figured it all out now?" Hiruzen asked
"Yes I got a chance to play with mom and dad which was fun. I also got to explore everything and well it feels like home so much which is odd as I've only been here for an hourish." Naruto said while he held on to the last scroll.
"I also like your new jacket. It has Minato's style on it while Kushina's style is on that scarf of yours there. You really do look like a blend of the two." Hiruzen said with a smile.
"Thank you gramps, it really does mean a lot to hear that. It honestly does." Naruto said with a gentle smile. "So now that everything is done and before I interrogate you is there anything else I should know?"
Putting on a more serious face Hirzuen said "Right now your bank account is being tied over to your clan's ones. On top of that as the last heir of the uzumaki and Namikaze line it is highly recommended to have more than one spouse or mistress. Although for now it won't be imposed as you are young and still growing but that means that eventually you will need to pursue others. Although to be frank my child I have a suspicion that they'll more or less fall into your lap than you doing anything. Lastly when we announce to Konoah your lineage then that means you will have to attend clan leader meaning and responsibilities. Now in terms of us revealing that info I believe that it is best held until you obtain the chunin rank or possibly at the finals of the chunin exams? That is if you want to cause a stir?" Growing more lax, the man gave naruto a wink and chuckle at the last suggestion.
"Sounds good to me gramps, I'll make sure to be strong enough to defend myself and Haku here by then!" Naruto said with a foxy grin. Taking a deep breath naruto's face went neutral before he started speaking again "Alright old man now I want to hear why you and everyone listed in dad's message wasn't there for me throughout all of my childhood? I want to understand, was it something I did wrong, did they not know, or were they scared of me?"
Hizuen took a deep breath as he braced himself "No naruto none of them hated you. If anything they all hated themselves for their lack of trying. For myself I wanted to adopt you but the civilian council at the time denied me from doing so. While normally I would be able to trump them with the ninja clan leaders at the time many were wounded, dead, or mourning over the loss of loved ones so some were irrational and voted against myself having you. So with that voting in mind I tried my best to give you money and take care of you when possible but I'm also hokage. It's hard to make time for others and while that's no excuse that's all I have in my reasoning. I know you may hate me for that and I'm truly sorry again Naruto." Hiruzen then proceeded to bow to naruto asking for his forgiveness.
"Please rise gramps I don't want that." After Hiruzen rose Naruto continued "While I am angry and part of me wants to hate you I don't. I can't, you were the only one who took care of me and gave a damn. So while you could have done better and maybe found loopholes you tried your best and I appreciate it. But now I want to hear from the other three."
"Your godfather is running a spyline currently to look for any threats that are harming Konoha. While it isn't an excuse it did make him unable to take you with him. However he did visit you once to give you that frog purse you have. I can still recall the day he came back to me with tears in his eyes. He told me that the pain still felt fresh and that he knows he's being selfish but he needs more time. Tsunade however was still overcome with grief by losing her brother and lover during the last war. It broke her then to lose her family here as Kushina is a part of her family and so are you. So after the battle she just got up and left never coming back. Kakashi was similar to the other two and filled with grief. For a while all he did was go on long term assasination missions and ones that would kill most men. I didn't want him to go and try and kill himself along with trying to run away from you but he was one of our few strong ninja's that was alive after the attack. So I had no choice but to send him out for the good of the village"
After finishing explaining it Hiruzen could see blood leak from Naruto's hands as he clenched them that tightly. Taking a deep breath Naruto paused before slowly speaking "Okay so they all have lame ass excuses. I get it but they're also ninjas so shouldn't they be used to loss. I don't expect an answer on that gramps and I thank you for answering but I will at some point or another kick their ass before I forgive them fully. I also still want to kick yours but I don't want the current hokage to croak either."
"I understand and you are truly one of the strongest people I know Naruto. For now I'm sure there is a lot you've been through emotionally and mentally so I will let you go get some rest here with Haku-chan. I know you still have your stuff at the apartment but you can get that tomorrow." Hiruzen said while standing up.
Nodding Naruto and Haku got up as they prepared to see the hokage go but before he left the old man turned and hugged Naruto. "Thank you and while I know I'm not family by blood I will always consider you one of my children. I love you Naruto."
Letting some tears fall he held the old man tight "Thank you gramps. It helps to know that there are people that love and care for me."
After saying goodbye to him Haku and Naruto went back to his room. Naruto was going to complain to Haku to get her own room when he realized that there was no other bed besides his parents and his own. That and tonight he wanted someone to hold onto. So while blushing lightly he got into the sheets and held Haku in his arms when she laid with him. Taking off his scarf he put some chakra into it as it became a blanket for both of them.
"Hey Haku?" Naruto said after a bit of time passed.
"Yes Naruto?" Haku asked as she snuggled closer to his chest.
"Thank you for everything." He said before kissing her on her forehead. Closing his eyes he then proceeded to sleep. However he failed to notice the crimson blush on Haku.
Taking a breath she let the blush disappear before she closed her eyes "No thank you for everything Naruto." She said with a smile as she let sleep overwhelm her.
AN - That's it for chapter 2! I honestly got motivated by seeing the view flow in after a couple hours and after a bit of writng and editing here we are lol. Now I have to say that this story isn't going to be super fast in terms of the naruto timeline. I do wish to take my time and make sure to explain and give proper detail where it is needed. Also while currently there isn't any combat and a lot of talking I do wish to take my time to properly develop the characters and the background for this story. Something to also keep in mind is that Naruto isn't going to be a kickass god all of a sudden. It will take time and while he may grow to be powerful fast, it won't make up for the combat experience that older ninjas have had to spend years and years to hone. So apologizes if that isn't your cup of tea! Oh and in terms of realtionship stuff I may have one or two happen sooner but for now it will only be Haku unless something changes! SSJDark Drakus - Thank you so much I apperciate that you are enjoying the story. In terms of justu I do plan on having him learn some from both his parents, haku, his clan, and good old imagination. My plan is for him to eventually be a jack of all trades and have many answers for different conflicts but one at a time as they say!
