Chapter 2: Game Day

The next day, I met up with Sarah, James, and Henri, as well as some of my other best friends, Alex Russo, Justin Evans, and Max Greenwald at Sarah, James, and Henri's suite in the Alcoma on the Green to play some of our favorite board and video games. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. We had a bunch of good things to eat for breakfast, such as muffins, fruit skewers, yogurt, waffles, and orange juice and milk. "Is everybody doing okay with the coronavirus?" I asked my friends. Alex joined Sarah and me in a few games of Scrabble, while James, Henri, Justin, and Max played a few rounds of Mario Kart on the Wii. "Wow, Sarah," Alex remarked. "You really are the Scrabble queen! Do you play Scrabble a lot, or what?" "Scrabble is just one of my favorite games to play, Alex," Sarah explained. "I am good at spelling and learning different words in the alphabet." "Didn't we say that we weren't keeping score, guys?" I asked Sarah and Alex. "Oh, right," Alex remembered. "I have always loved all of my reading, English, and spelling subjects back in school," Sarah explained, "unlike gym class." "I was never really a fan of gym class in school, either," Alex agreed. "But then, I ended up liking it." "Me too," Sarah agreed. "Since we are in a stay-at-home order due to the coronavirus now, you can try a lot of fun games and activities," I told my friends. "I don't think it's going to be likely that we will go out to the Grand Concourse for your birthday this year," Alex told me. "But, that's not a problem, Alex," I stated. "We can always make our own hors d'oeurves and desserts, just like we used to do in the past." "I still want to continue with my Sunday group," Alex told us, "but it's just not safe yet, and I am not exactly sure when that will be. I miss being in charge of you guys." "Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later," I told my friend. "In the meantime, I have a plethora of awesome activities that we can do on Sundays together until this all comes to an end," Sarah told us. "I remember when you originally wanted to do a fashion activity today, but you, me, and Sarah would have been the only girls, and games are more fun for both boys and girls to play together." The boys were playing Mario Kart Wii. James and Justin played as Mario and Baby Mario, while Henri and Max played as Luigi and Baby Luigi. "You won, Justin," James stated. "Congratulations!" "It takes a lot of practice, James," Justin explained. "Max and I have always loved Mario Kart games ever since the original video game came out in 1992 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, a year before we were born." "You really rocked the Mario Circuit round," James remarked. "That's because that was a course on the original Mario Kart game, as well," Justin pointed out. "You won, Max," Henri stated. "Congratulations!" "I know it would have been cool if we played Mario music our senior year of high school for band, Henri," Max added. "What about Ghost Valley?" Henri asked. "That is one of my favorite Mario Kart courses!" "I like the Ghost Valley course, too," Max agreed. "Too bad that it wasn't part of the Mario Kart Wii game." "I bet I can beat you at Mario Kart Wii, like how my friends beat their other friends, Sarah," Alex persuaded. "Oh, so now you want a competition, Alex?" Sarah asked. While Sarah and Alex took their turns on Mario Kart Wii as Princess Peach and Baby Peach, James, Henri, Justin, and Max sat down to play a few games of Candy Land. For a while, it looked like Sarah was going to crush Alex at Mario Kart, until after the Mario Circuit course. Alex landed in the top three, while Sarah kept getting out of the top percentile, eventually losing to Alex. "Yes!" Alex exclaimed, cheering. "I am the official Mario Kart champion!" "And, I am the official Scrabble champion!" Sarah cheered. "James, Henri, Justin, and Max are all the official Candy Land champions!" I happily exclaimed. There were some extra snacks served, such as gingerbread men and gumdrops in honor of Candy Land and alphabet cookies in honor of Scrabble. After we finished our snacks, it was time for all of us to leave. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Bye, guys!" "Bye!"
