Glassy sky
"Oh, God, what is reality..."
Izuku Midoriya was staring at his phone. The device was casually laying on his coffee table as he sat on his couch. He glared at it, hoping it would chime or something.
"Fuck, it was a mistake." He groaned, falling to the side on the cough. He had left Momo's apartment in the morning, she was still passed out from exhaustion and pleasure that she didn't notice him leave. "We made such a mess, right after I helped her move in. I have to reimburse her for the bed... Note to self, never using full cowling for that again!" He covered his face with his hand in shame, recalling the screams she gave out when he was using it at the point of climax. They had broke her bed in half, and she collapsed asleep in his arms, not even worried about it.
He had sent her a good morning text, not really knowing the protocol after a one night stand with a friend. "Can we even still be friends? Are we fuck buddies now, that just sounds wrong. Friends with benefits, that's better, a bit. What if she wants something more but I mean it is Momo, maybe... Ugh, fuck me and fuck this."
He got up from his couch, he picked up his phone, got his keys and headed for the door. He didn't like being stuck at home without answers to his predicament with Momo. He decided to go out for some fresh air and let go of his worries. He'll figure out a way to sort things out with Momo, he always did.
He left his apartment heading down the sidewalk, some people waved at him, recognizing him even without his hero clothes, he would always wave back with a polite smile, even thanking them for their support. He did feel a little ashamed when a little girl came up to him with one of the toys modeled after him, asking for his autograph. Her dad told him that she was his favorite, and that he was such an innocent, positive role model for her. 'I don't think you can call me that after last night!' Yet he kept his composure in front of them.
He helped them cross the street and said goodbye, purposely walking in the opposite direction of them. The little girl yelled bye one more time and he yelled it back with some words of encouragement.
'This is horrible, I feel like I've let the people down! Heroes shouldn't act like that with other heroes we work with. What would All-Might think? Has he ever done something like that? I've seen pictures of his mentor. Maybe he did with-, Izuku midoriya this is not the time to let your mind wander, especially not to those thoughts! Focus on trying to avoid the public, I can't really face them right now. I should go somewhere kinda empty...'
Right as he walked by a library. And he kept walking by it, spewing his thoughts. And then he passed it.
"Wait, the library!" Realizing it. He headed back and walked up the steps, entering it. He directly went to his guilty pleasure section.
Romance novels!
He looked for a sequel that he heard came out, thinking about last night. Momo did strike a nerve when she brought up his love life while they were drinking, reading romantic books were his guilty pleasure because she was right but he wasn't going to tell her that. 'It's not like I can't find anybody, it's just not what I'm looking for... But, honestly, what am I looking for?'
He found the book and went to sit at a nearby table that was out of the way enough to not be bothered by others. He was about a fourth of the way in, letting himself get immersed.
"Boo." Tapping his shoulder with her index finger.
"Hiee!" Midoriya jolted in fear. He turned around and sighed. "Reiko... Why? And hello." He caught his breath but still stared at her, waiting for an answer. She was wearing a dark gray sweater, buttoned up, with a white blouse under, also buttoned up and a black skirt that covered her knees.
"I assumed it would be a fun jest and a thriller for you, I was correct."
'You could have just said, I wanted to scare you.' Izuku and his friends always had to condense what Yanagi said. Izuku gave a polite chuckle. 'Well, I don't really mind that about her.' In truth, she was one of the few people that could understand him when his analytical gibberish went off the rails and vise versa.
His eyes widened, realizing the book was still on the table. He attempted to hide it with his arm but she had peeked at him reading it beforehand, already aware of the material. She walked around the table and sat in front of him, also having a book in her hands.
"Um, this is, ugh, y-you know?" Trying to play it cool.
"We can read our narrative structures in a complementary silence, with regard to each other. This is actually my second read through, I noticed you were reading one of my favorite published works and was glad to have found a trusted companion that can express the same sentiment to this work of art."
'You just said book in three different ways but used read and reading in the same sentence... Why?' Until he understood her words. His eyes shot to her. "W-Wait you read them too!" He cupped his hand over his mouth, wishing he hadn't just yelled in a library. He glanced at the novel in her hands it was the first book in the series. He glanced left and right, as if keeping a dirty secret. 'Well, technically I am with Momo.' He mentally rolled his eyes at himself. He focused back on Reiko, having an excitement build in him. He could never talk about this with his friends because he knew they would just roast him but with Yanagi he could nerd out. He leaned on the table, beginning a conversation with her about the book.
"Are you insinuating that she was righteous in her actions?!" Reiko huffed. They had both just given their analysis of the first book and were debating.
"Oh and like he's such goody-two-shoes, how many of them did he sleep with?"
"He's damaged and broken, his road has been perilous, has it not? And it was only three for a matter of fact, he's is not some male harlot, unlike her. Oh why couldn't he just end up with the other one, she waited with him."
"Are you kidding me? He knew the other three he didn't nail wanted it, he kept stringing them along. Now her on the other hand, she was just trying to keep herself from falling apart, and okay I'll give you that maybe the other girl should have ended up with him but still come on."
"Oh she was a big-time harlot, perhaps not with anything physical but she had those two on the tip of her fingers, not only that but she was constantly manipulating the situation to her benefit. While he, on the other hand, severed the relationships he had to. He grew and had developed into a redeemed character while she remained stagnant."
"Stagnant? How dare you say she was stagnant, the climax of her arc was when she finally opened up to him!" He slammed his hands on the table, standing up.
"And the pinnacle of his endeavor was his final decision, where he finally evolved into the being he was destined to be!"
They heatedly had their foreheads pressed together, neither budging an inch... Until they noticed how close they were. He stared at her panting lips, she had done the same, both lifting their eyes back, locking. Both enamored in the moment.
Their argument eventually got them kicked out of the library, although they were allowed to check out a few books before they had to leave.
Izuku glanced up at the sky with some concern. "It looks like it's going to rain? It's already drizzling." The sun was already setting? 'I guess we spent more time together than I thought.' He shifted his eyes back down to her. She was standing in her usual position, with her arms up to her chest with her hands dangling down, looking like a ghost. She was looking up at the sky. 'And it looked like she was admiring the beauty of a sunset cloudy sky and I couldn't help but to admire how beautiful she looked with the fractured light on the lonely droplets radiating around her especially the shine of her only visible eye. In that moment she was the embodiment of a widowed spirit waiting for a departed lover...'
And on impulse, he said, "Hey, Reiko, want to get a cup of coffee or something?"
She shifted her attention from the sky to him. Her eye stared at him and the scattered droplets around them. Her lips actually pulling up into a smile.
"Coffee?"
Hey there, so I ended up saying fuck it and pulled the trigger on this story, meaning I am just gonna write and let the chaos unfold, hope you enjoy the ride, because I'm actually just gonna let this fic fly! Lmao! In hindsight maybe I could have put a better name and summary but another part of me is like nah that shit is gold lmao.
I did break this chapter into two though, I was actually surprised at how much I was writing because I was initially worried about writing Reiko but it's honestly fun, so who knows, maybe this confirms a future IzukuXReiko fic lol. Honestly can't wait to get the next chapter out.
Fun fact, I was debating between Reiko and Yui for who would be the 'other girl' in Quirkless isn't hopeless but although I am glad it was Yui, now I'm thinking what if you know? Lol oh and that was the fic Reiko and Izuku were arguing about lmao, just a self awareness meta joke for myself lol.
Well, hope you enjoyed and I hope to get the next chap out soon. Oh and don't forget to comment the mha girls you want! I have a few in mind already, but will totally give y'all the popular vote! Let me know what you think of how I wrote Reiko because it's hard to gauge her personality so I would appreciate it! (Although she reminds me of Touka from Tokyo ghoul hence the title chapter, it's the little things you know?) well, like always,
Till next time!
