She was sure she'd hate him forever, and yet somehow, finding those eyes that found her in the darkness of their small tent broke her resolve a tiny bit every time. If she didn't know him so well, if she hadn't learned to read those blue orbs, she could have held onto her anger- but how could she with him pleading silently, quietly.
She knew it wasn't a coincidence that her long-forgotten tea remained warm when she found it later, knew that it wasn't just by chance that he stood blocking the chilly wind when she sometimes sat at the front of the tent to read. She knew it wasn't by chance that her portion of their meagre rations was almost as much as Harry's- always more than Ron's.
She knew so much- she knew he was doing all he could. She knew she couldn't pretend forever that she hated him. Hated him for leaving- yes. Hated him- no…
When he looked at her the next time, eyes pleading once again, she gave him a smile. Ron seemed to come to a staggering halt, and somehow her heart twisted at the amount of regret in the face she loved more than life. So she smiled again till her eyes pooled over and she looked away- but not before noticing the moisture in his eyes too…
