Fantasmic is a Kingdom Hearts story that takes away Keyblades in replace of the world of Magic. This story begins the journey of a young Sorceress in training. This beginning entry tells the tale of her journey through the other worlds, for the very first time. This beginning tale tells of the destinies of 3 young apprentices to a mighty sorcerer. The Shining Star, the Fallen Sun, and the Silver Moon.
The next day has risen…or next night. There is no daytime in the lanes in between, only stars. Either way, it didn't stop the three apprentices. Our story continues in the Magician's study, located at the very top of the mysterious and magical tower.
Mickey, Maggie, and Mortimer stand in attention as they all stand in front of the Wizard, occupying the tall throne-like chair. A familiar man wearing a star-covered conical and matching blue robes.
Their master, one of the greatest Sorcerers in the Magic Dimension: The wise Master Yen Sid. The wise wizard opens his eyes, and strokes his beard…as he spoke out with a deep voice.
"Mickey, Maggie, Mortimer. Today marks a wonderous day for all three of you." He calls out. "Not one, not two, but the three of you shall be examined for the Mark of Mastery." The Master soon glances at all three of his pupils, especially Mortimer.
"But know this. This is battle is merely to test your skills as Magicians. This is no competition, nor a battle for supremacy. Not of test of will, not a test strength, but a test of heart." Master Yen Sid continues.
Soon, with a wave of his fingers, a hat appears and lands gently on the table. A hat identical to his own.
"This conical shall go to the one who has proven themselves worthy of title…High Magician. Understand that this is no toy. Before you wear this hat, you must prove yourself that you are capable of the responsibility of said hat, the burdens you must be forced to bear, the weight…of the entire Multiverse. It will be placed upon you once you excel to the level of High Magician…and earn your reward. Understand?"
"Yes, Master!" All three of them say in unison.
"This is nothing to be taken lightly, especially for the three of you. The world shall await you. I trust that you know these consequences?" Yen Sid repeats.
"Yes." The mice replied again. Yen Sid nods his head…and opened his arms up.
"Then let the examination begin." He replies bluntly. Suddenly, taking three mice by surprise, a light shined throughout the entire room, emanating it in a complete white.
"Ugh…w-wha?" Maggie groans, as the light finally began to dim. Soon enough, she found herself in what appears to be some training ground. The starry-night sky was replaced with an ocean blue sky, and a welcoming sun. She scanned her surroundings and found that surrounding the training grounds are the walls, of what she would assume as some sort of palace.
She looked down and noticed that her own attire has changed. Now, she appears to be wearing some uniform. A bright red tunic, white trousers, white leather gloves, and brown boots. Resting atop her head appears to be a wide-brim hat with a plume. Lastly around her attire is a blue poncho with a gold symbol in the center.
She soon noticed Mickey and Mortimer approaching her, the both of them wearing the same exact uniform. Mickey looked, and immediately he remembered this uniform. Soon, he scanned his around, and a wide smile went on his face.
"Ha-ha! I know this place!" The mouse chuckles.
"Welcome, Mickey, Maggie, and Mortimer, to the Country of Musketeers. Here is where all the mightiest heroes of your world travel to prove their might and bravery to become the royal Musketeers. The very same place…that Mickey has trained to become one." Yen Sid explains, his voice echoing yet he is nowhere to be found.
"The three of you shall confront each in these very training grounds. Here, the three of you shall engage in combat." Master Yen Sid instructed.
"Talk about a field advantage, don't ya think, Master?" Mortimer scoffs.
"Quite the contrary, Mortimer." Assured the Master. "I have brought you here, to befit the challenge. To transcend into High Magician, you must walk the path of the Musketeers. Demonstrate your prowess by proving to me that you are strong, courageous, and unafraid. Do not waver and most importantly…keep your temper. Anger may lead to darkness and you mustn't fall to it."
"Fall to the darkness?" Mickey couldn't help but ask. Maggie and Mortimer shrugs.
"I'm sure we'll know, if we'll know if the competition gets the better of us." Maggie assures.
"That makes sense, I guess," Mortimer says causally as Mickey nods.
"One last thing to remember. There are no winners, only truths. For when equal powers clash, their nature is revealed." The Master warned, one last time.
As he did, everyone prepared themselves. Mickey got his staff out, Mortimer got his, and Maggie…she has hers out.
Maggie's staff is handheld just like Mickey's. The entirety of the staff was shimmering in silver. The tip of the staff has small silver wings and a blue star in the middle. Finally, the head of the staff is much different than the two, for hers is in the shape of a crescent moon as a shimmering pitch-black crystal twirls in the middle.
It was time to duel.
"Begin!" Yen Sid calls out.
Immediately, Mortimer and Mickey charged at each other. Their wands beginning to glow with Magic. As the two made it to the center of the courtyard, flashily, Mortimer twirled his wand and projected the spell to start off the battle.
"HOW ABOUT WE TURN THE HEAT UP WITH SOME FIRAGA!" Mortimer yells out as a ball of fire projected out of his staff. Mickey's eyes widened as he skids down to dodge the fireball…BUT.
"GOTCHA!" Mortimer says with a smirk as he points his staff at Mickey.
"FLARE!" Mortimer calls out as a bright flaring light began to emanate out of his staff, making Mickey's eyes widen.
BOOOOOM!
If you can't tell already, Mortimer's forte of Magic is the usage of only Fire Magic. It's quite versatile for area effect, and Mortimer likes to get things done quick.
A massive explosion was formed in the exact spot Mickey was standing. An explosion so powerful that it emanated a powerful and bright light throughout the field.
Mortimer had to shield his eyes, and gave out a confident smirk, knowing that he dealt with two birds with one stone. As the light began to dim…
"WHA?!" The mouse's eyes widened seeing both Mickey and Maggie gone.
"Y'know, you should REALLY be careful with powerful spells like that, Mortimer." Maggie pipes up, making the tall mouse jolt out of his confused trance. He glares.
He looks up to see Maggie hovering in the air, resting on her staff like a witch, while Mickey was holding onto the head of the staff, for dear life.
"Well, consider that a lil' starter-up. There ain't anything in the rules against using big spells, now is there?" Mortimer inquires, the two mice in the air looked at each other.
"Alright. If that's the game you wanna play, then how about this?" Mickey challenges. The short mouse let go of the girl's staff and hopped off of Mortimer's head.
"HEY!"
"MAGGIE, NOW!" Mickey calls out.
"AEROGA!" Maggie says as she hopped even higher with the help of the wind.
"TWO CAN PLAY YOUR GAME, MORTIMER!" Maggie yells out as the female mouse smirks as Mortimer's eyes widened. A swelling flame danced around her black crystal. Her eyes flaring red, as she soon let loose the power.
"FIRAGA!" Maggie calls out, as the massive fireball projected from out of the staff.
"Transform: EXCALIBUR!" Mickey says as light began to envelope throughout his staff. Soon, as the light dissipated, the staff was transformed. Transformed into a glistening silver blade with a gold handle, surrounded by a golden aura. Right on time, Mickey caught the flame with his newly formed sword.
Soon, Mickey calls out his attack.
"FIRAGA SWORD!" Mickey yells out as he soon dove down and delivered a downward slash not towards Mortimer, but to the ground itself.
Immediately, causing 3 powerful geysers of fire to blast from the ground and crawl towards Mortimer. The mouse's eyes, widened as…
BOOOOOOOOOM!
Mickey and Maggie looked to the billow of smoke, carefully and cautiously. At one hand, Mortimer could leap out of the smoke and strike them, on the other hand…perhaps they went overboard…
Turns out, both odds didn't happen.
Instead, as the billow of smoke cleared, Mickey and Maggie see Mortimer protected in a fiery magical shell, made by himself. The self-centered mouse opened his eyes and noticed his staff glowing.
"Are you kidding?" He says in annoyance as he dismissed the shell. Immediately, he tensed up noticing a flame dancing on the plume of his hat. He pinched the fire out, thankfully…didn't stop the flame on his tail, though.
"H-H-HA-CHA-CHOWWWWWWOWOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOW!" Mortimer screams out, finally feeling the burning sensation on his tail.
He slammed his hat to the ground and planted himself on it…to which the flames went out on contact. The grumbling mouse rose up and dusted his hat off, after regaining his composure.
"Now, I dunno about you, Master, but I think this fight's pretty one-sided." Mortimer says in annoyance.
"There is no rule saying otherwise, Mortimer. When two hearts join together, the results can be unimaginable." Yen Sid retorts.
"Hmph! Fine, if that's how these kiddies wanna play," Mortimer retorts.
"If you wanna see playing, why don't you keep your eyes on me!" Maggie challenged. Mortimer turned around to see ice surrounding the little mouse. Playfully, Maggie skates around the ice.
"FREEZE!" Maggie yells out as she abruptly shot a beam of ice at Mickey.
"W-HEY!" Mickey yells out as Ice began to travel through his body, encasing him.
As she continued to skate around the ice rink around her, Maggie did a flip and aimed her staff to the Mortimer.
"HOMING BLIZZARA!" She calls out as a projectile of frozen ice shot out of the jewel of her staff and traveled towards Mortimer.
"YIPES!" He exclaims as he started running, and the Blizzara…simply homed onto him. The spell chased the tall mouse around the training field. Soon enough…the spell lost him.
Comically, as if it's got a mind of its own, it scanned its surroundings, to look for Mortimer. Unbeknownst to the spell, Mortimer was the one that poked out and prepared to attack it from behind.
"HA-HA! I GOT YA NOW, YA STUPID BALL OF ICE!" Mortimer yells out as he touched the ice spell with his staff…
Or that would've been the case, had the ice not crawl around Mortimer, encasing the self-centered mouse in ice, on contact.
"Y'know…maybe I didn't think that one through…" Mortimer muffled from inside the ice. Maggie sees what has happened, and sighed in relief.
"Guess that's the both of them." She sighs.
"Guess again, Maggie!" Mickey calls out as the Sorceress turned around to see the Prodigy Child released from his icy prison.
"Mickey! How'd you escape?" Maggie asks.
"Huh-huh! I've got my methods," Mickey says smugly with heat emanating off of the star of his staff. "Guess you probably should've froze my wand, before freezing me."
"Cunning, I'll admit." Maggie confesses.
"Listen, Maggie, I know for a fact that you're the Queen of Spellcasting and all that, BUT there's one thing you didn't put into account," Mickey explains.
"And what's that?" Maggie asks playfully.
"I was trained to be a Musketeer! When it comes to the sword, I'VE got the high ground!" Mickey says as his staff transformed right back into the aura-covered sword, as he points it to the Sorceress.
"Alrighty then, Mickey~ by all means, show me some of your Musketeering tricks." Maggie taunts as she soon points the mouse with the sharp crescent moon.
"Then…LET'S DO IT!" Mickey yells out as the two charged at each other to the center of the field.
CLANG!
The fight was on between Sorceress and King. As they pulled back, immediately they unleashed a fury of slashes at each other, as the sound of metal screeched throughout the training field.
For the longest time, Mickey has the advantage between the two mice. Not only was Mickey the first to be Yen Sid's apprentice, meaning all that the Master was the first to teach him everything. Not only that, but training by his two friend's side, Mickey has the swordplay of a Musketeer.
Therefore, Mickey has quite the advantage, for his battle style consists of Magic transformation. He can transform his staff into a wide-variety of weapons. For example…
"YAH!" Mickey exclaims as he pushed Maggie back. He soon leaps into the air as his blade transformed once again. This time into a silver bow with stars on the tip of the arrows.
"SHOOTING STAR!" Mickey shouts out he shot out as many arrows as he could towards Maggie. The mouse, with such cat like agility, dodged as many as she can.
Though his fighting style includes the transformation of his staff, he is also quite versatile in Celestial Magic. Magic under the usage of the galaxy itself. Yen Sid's favorite field of Magic.
"WHAT HAPPENED TO SHOWING US YOUR MUSKETEER STUFF!" Maggie exclaims.
"THEY TAUGHT US A BIT OF ARCHERY, TOO!" Mickey retorts playfully as the fight went on. Soon, Maggie saw an arrow coming her way. It was her time to shine.
"BOUNCE!" Maggie yells out as a Magical circle swirled around her. The arrow immediately bounced back to Mickey, making him dodge quick.
"Well, then, Mickey…Let's see how much Magic you've been taught here! ZOOM!" Maggie yells out as she jumped, sending her high into the air.
"QUAKE!" Maggie screams as her staff was glowing in a red aura. She hurled it with a powerful throw, and before Mickey could catch it, it slammed to ground.
And before the mouse knew it, the entire ground began to shake. The shockwave was powerful enough to make the mouse tumble to the ground.
As the fight against Mickey and Maggie went on, Mortimer's anger was the necessity needed to help him escape his cold prison. Mortimer didn't care about Magic or Strength. If there's only one thing he wanted…it's to beat Mickey in his game.
For the longest time, ever since Yen Sid took the both of them in, Mickey and Mortimer have been rivals. Whenever he comes along, he tries his hardest to steal Mickey's sweetheart, Minnie from him. But time and time again, Mickey has always gotten the upper hand. Not only in getting the girl, but in taking the crown.
Now…Mortimer was mad. As he watched the battle, he began to get increasingly furious and agitated…to the point where…black smoke began to course through his body.
"Ain't no way that half-pint is winning this. I've worked TOO hard to get on the Master's good side, only to be shadowed by Mr. Mousey and the Little Miss. NOT THIS TIME!" Mortimer pledged as his staff materialized and he charged forward at great speed.
Yen Sid sees this…though he is quiet…it is clear that he is disappointed in Mortimer.
CLANG!
As Maggie approached the Mickey, the Mouse soon stood up. Maggie looks at him smugly as she adjusts her glasses.
"Looks like I win~" She sings.
Now…it was Mickey's turn to smile.
"Not quite." He simply says, as he clenched to his staff…his staff completely brimming with power. Massive power. "Summon: Magic Brooms!" Mickey yells out.
POOF! POOF! POOF! POOF!
"W-HEY!" Maggie yells out as she suddenly felt her staff be thrown to the other side of the field. Before she could catch it, her arms were grabbed and pinned by brooms with hands. Mickey looks at her smugly.
"Y'see, I was gathering some Mana while you were in the air. Ha-ha! Let's hope I've got enough!"
"Enough for what?" Maggie asks.
"This. MAGIC BURST!" Mickey yells out as a MASSIVE and Magical aura shot out from within his body, sending Maggie and the brooms back. The female mouse rolled to the other side of the field, as Mickey, now weakened and breathing heavily approached her, and points his staff to her nose.
"Looks like I win." Mickey says, smugly.
"Not gonna finish me?" Maggie asks, playfully.
"Aw, c'mon, Maggie, I wouldn't do that. Besides, this isn't a real battle anyway. Even if it was, there's always a chance to show some compassion, no matter the person." Mickey explains. Maggie chuckles.
"You're such a dweeb, Mickey." Maggie says as she grabs the mouse's hand. Mickey helped her up. "Good game, Mickey. If anyone has a shot at being High Magician, it's gotta be you."
"Aww, now I wouldn't say all that~" Mickey says bashfully.
"Now, don't be modest, Mick," Maggie retorts.
"Oh no, Maggie, he's right~" Mortimer says as…
"MEGA FLARE!" Mortimer screams out as a powerful flare of fire blasts towards Mickey. This time…Maggie didn't react fast enough.
SLAM!
"MICKEY!" Maggie cries out in surprise as Mickey was sent flying to the walls, making a powerful crater in the walls. If Mickey wasn't battered from his Magic Burst, then add the POWERFUL impact from the wall, and the bruises and burn marks from the flare.
It was then…that Mickey fell to the ground, unconscious.
"If anyone's got the right to be High Magician, it's ME!" Mortimer says threateningly as he approached the mouse. "I've trained a whole lot for this, and you expect me to be tossed like yesterday's garbage? ME?! NUH-UH!"
"MORTIMER, STOP! WHAT'S YOUR D-AH!" Maggie retorts as she got in front of him in an attempt to stop him, but immediately, she was slammed out of the way by the tall mouse.
"STAY OUTTA THIS!" Mortimer retorts. Finally approaching Mickey, Mortimer points his staff at his unconscious body. "You've meddled enough, Mag. Mick's had this comin' a LONG time ago!" Fire began to flare from his staff…even greater than before.
"IT'S TIME WE END THIS RIVALRY, FOR GOOD!"
"NO!" Maggie yells out. She was about to get up to stop him…but immediately, before Mortimer could deliver the final blow at the unconscious mouse,
"Mortimer, ENOUGH!" Yen Sid bellowed out.
Mortimer's staff immediately disappeared.
"W-HUH?!" Mortimer exclaims noticing his staff was away.
Suddenly following, was light, suddenly emanating throughout the training grounds. The same blinding light that brought the three apprentices here in the first place.
As the light faded once more, before anyone would know it, Maggie, Mortimer, and the unconscious Mickey were all back in Yen Sid's study with their normal attire on. Needless to say, a disapproving glare was formed on Yen Sid, as he opened his eyes. That glare…was directly pointed towards Mortimer.
A glare formed on Maggie's face as well, directed towards Mortimer.
"What was THAT about?!" Maggie says with her gloved hands on her hips. Mortimer couldn't help but chuckle bashfully.
"Eheheh…uhhhh, sorry, folks, I guess it's the thrill of battle takin' me! Heheh…you gotta understand right, Master?" Mortimer asks in an almost pleading voice. Yen Sid only shook in disapproval.
"The only thing I understand is that you have allowed the darkness to course through you." He simply says.
"Darkness, c'mon! That ain't Darkness, that was-" Mortimer stammers, bashfully.
"I need no explanation from you, Mortimer. Now, away with you. I shall deal with your punishment later." Yen Sid demands. Mortimer only mumbles.
"Yes, Master." He mumbles as he got walking out of the room.
"Master…just…what is this about?" Maggie couldn't help but ask.
"For the longest time, Mickey and Mortimer have been rivals, from the very beginning. I have sought Mortimer under my care in hopes that he would better himself, so that he may settle his differences one day. But…it is clear that Mortimer has much to learn. So…very much to learn."
Mortimer couldn't help but clench his gloved hands and gave out this retort.
"YEAH?! WELL IF THERE'S 'SO VERY MUCH FOR ME TO LEARN,' THEN MAYBE I'M BEIN' TAUGHT BY THE WRONG GUY!" Mortimer yells out. In a fit of rage, he immediately leaves the room and slams the door.
"Mortimer…" Maggie couldn't help but look in worry. She then looked down to the unconscious Mickey. "Will…he be okay, Master?"
"If you mean Mickey, then yes. He has merely suffered a concussion. I shall look into it and heal him, overnight." Maggie bows.
"I understand."
"I have already made my decision upon the next High Magician. Go, get some rest, Maggie. Upon tomorrow, I shall announce who shall be the next Master." Maggie bows, once again.
"Yes, Master." It's clear that she didn't want to probe anymore questions, and…it's best to let Mickey be placed under the Master's care instead of her own. She soon gave one last glance to Mickey, before leaving the room.
The Master…is alone with his thoughts.
"…I cannot shake the feeling…that something terrible is about to transpire."
Tower Courtyard
We meanwhile cut to Mortimer; the sulking mouse is walking to the edge of the Courtyard. Soon enough, he sat down…mixed in a whirlwind of emotions. Anger, betrayal, jealousy, resentment, envy…just an entire chaotic maelstrom.
"Who does that so-called MASTER think he is?" Mortimer says to himself in annoyance. "Who does ANYONE think they are? It's always Mickey this, Mickey that, and when someone decided to take him down a peg, I'M the bad guy, here?" Mortimer only clenched his gloved fists…and slams them to the grassy ground.
"And then there's Little Miss. Rodent. This battle's between me and him, and just when I was about to underhand him, SHE shows up and ruin everything! And of cooooourse, the Master thinks they're the saints here! Darkness this, Darkness that, DARKNESS BULL, IF YOU ASKED ME!" Mortimer yells out waving his gloved fists in the air.
"On the contrary…" A new voice echoed out. A deep and chilling voice, enough to make Mortimer gasp in fear. "Darkness is not to be handled by someone as weak as you." Aaaand back to annoyance.
"Oh brother, and who's lecturing me this…tiiiime…?" Mortimer says meekly as he turns to see a chilling figure behind him. A skeletal figure with a blood-red coat…and horns seeping out of his hood.
"Let's just say…I am someone who shall turn you from weak…to strong." The man says as with his blood red eyes staring eerily at the mouse.
"From weak to strong?" Mortimer asks.
"You were right to defy your Master's teachings. Dark Magic cannot be detained…it can only be controlled. I can teach you…Mortimer. Teach you to burn brightly than the sun, and form you into a true Master." He says approaching the mouse.
"We? W-who even are you?" Mortimer says beginning to grow frightened. The monster grins.
"You may refer to me as simply…The Horned King."
