Disclaimers: This is a crossover between Sailor Moon and Uta no Prince-sama. I do not own these two shows. Sailor Moon is written by Naoko Takeuchi in manga form and aired as a series by Toei Animation and TV Asahi in Japan and by Kodansha Comics in North America. Uta no Prince-sama is created by Broccoli as a Japanese visual novel game franchise and aired as an Anime series by A-1 Pictures.
"I look forward to working with you," said Otoya.
"Looking forward to working with me, eh" murmured Usagi.
It was after class time that Usagi was wandering around the school grounds instead of working on the song with Otoya. Why she wasn't working with him was due to the fact that when Usagi turned to see if he would like to work on the song in her dorm, she saw Otoya was already out the door. Apparently, Otoya was worried for his reddish-orange haired friend when she was placed on the hot seat, so to speak, to play the piano for the entire class. Usagi didn't fault him at all because she would have done the same thing if it was her friend. As for Hotaru, she would have gone with her to walk around, but Usagi told her to do her best with coming up with lyrics for her assignment. The look on Hotaru's face, though, definitely showed that Usagi was not going to be getting out of a future discussion. Now, outside, Usagi sighed as she tried to think of a song for Otoya. "Great," murmured Usagi to herself, "My first ever composition, and I don't have anything in my head."
"You're first composition," asked a familiar voice.
"Ittoki-san," said Usagi as she turned around to see Otoya behind her.
"Eh heh," said Otoya as he scratched the back of his head, "You can use my first name, Tsukino-san."
"Then," said Usagi, "Please call me by my first name. Okay… um… Otoya-san?"
"Will do, Usagi," said a smiling Otoya, "Sorry for walking out of the classroom like that."
"Īe, daijōbu desu (No, it's fine)," said Usagi, "You were comforting your friend, ne (right)?"
"Un," nodded Otoya, "Nanami looked very sad after that lesson, but I didn't really have to worry. Her friend, Tomochika Shibuya, was with her."
When she heard that, Usagi smiled. It would seem that this Nanami person has very good friends to rely on. Hopefully, nothing bad will happen to her friends like what Usagi experienced. Otoya, on his part, saw the change of emotion in Usagi's eyes. He didn't know what could make Usagi have sad eyes like right now, but he hoped that he would never have to see that. Usagi's eyes looked very haunted once they turned sad. "So, you said something about this being your first ever composition," asked Otoya.
"Oh, yes," said Usagi, "I applied to this school to make some music for my dear friends."
"That's a nice dream," said Otoya, "I'm sure that your dream will come true."
"Ah," said Usagi who turned sad once more, "M-My friends actually died last week in that Youma explosion in Jūban."
"Eh," said a surprised Otoya before clapping both hands together and slightly bowing, "I'm so sorry for bringing up those bad memories."
"Don't worry," said Usagi, "I'm healing and trying to move on. I am just glad that my friend, Hotaru, is with me."
"Is she the one that was sitting next to you during class," asked Otoya before saying, "She was glaring at me so much, I was very nervous when we first met."
"Ah," said Usagi who smiled sheepishly, "Hotaru-chan has been over-protective of me ever since we've met."
Otoya nodded his head as he thought about what he learned about Usagi. Apparently, she applied to the school for her late friends, but if they just died a week ago, Usagi sure was hiding her sadness. Otoya thought that maybe Usagi was kind of like him, hiding behind a smile to keep the painful memories away. When he was unconsciously following her, he wasn't aware that they were right in front of Usagi's dorm room. "Would you like to come in so that we can get started on the assignment," asked Usagi.
"That would be great," said Otoya, "But, you should know…"
"Know what," asked Usagi.
"…I've never written lyrics before myself," confessed Otoya.
"Then, we're in the same boat, ne," asked Usagi.
"Yup," laughed a nervous Otoya, "We're in the same boat!"
- Later That Night –
"You came in late," said a male voice.
"Oh," said Otoya who faced the person talking, "Tokiya! Were you worried about me?"
The male voice, Tokiya, was actually a teenaged boy with midnight dark-blue hair that actually looks black in certain lighting. Tokiya's turquoise-blue eyes were also narrowed when he saw his roommate come back later than usual. Stating that he was late to come back, Otoya asked if Tokiya was worried about him. Tokiya, however, didn't answer Otoya's question and just decided to ask, "Where were you?"
"Ah," said Otoya, "I was at my partner's dorm room to work on our assignment together."
"Partner," asked Tokiya.
"Yup," said Otoya, "Her name is Tsukino Usagi, and she is my partner in this assignment that we received from Tsukimiya-sensei."
"You do know that it is not permitted for boys and girls to be inside each other's dorm rooms, right," stated Tokiya with an eyebrow raised.
Otoya laughed nervously as he forgotten about that rule. However, nothing happened except for talking to each other to get to know one another. Otoya now knew that Usagi wanted to be a composer ever since she met her friends, whose identities shocked Otoya. He never knew Usagi knew Tenoh Haruka and Kaioh Michiru so closely. Usagi also told Otoya that her two friends secretly gave her lessons, but she still had a long way to go to read sheet music. Thinking on what kind of lyrics he wanted to make, Otoya looked at Tokiya and asked, "Tokiya, how do you write your lyrics?"
"I'm not obliged to tell you that," said Tokiya.
"Ah," said Otoya, "Come on! Tell me! Please? Pretty please?!"
Otoya kept on repeating Tell Me over and over again to Tokiya. He was not going to give up because if he did, he felt like he let down his newest friend… his newest friend that had the sad eyes. After much pleading, some easy smiles, and pushing to get his way, Tokiya finally let out a sigh of defeat. He really didn't want to put up with Otoya's semi-begging when it was already late at night. "Fine," said Tokiya, "If I must…"
"Arigatō (Thank you), Tokiya," exclaimed Otoya.
For the next couple of days, Otoya was asking his other friends he made at the school about writing lyrics, and while that was going on, Usagi was studying more about reading sheet music and making a good song for Otoya. Usagi could sometimes see Otoya going to his friends and asking for advice on lyric writing, and when she saw that, she knew that she shouldn't give up on doing her part in the assignment. Hotaru, who was also watching, smiled when she saw the determination in Usagi's eyes… the same one that when Usagi put her mind to it, it led to the downfall of someone evil or healing and giving the enemy a second chance. It was one day, though, that Usagi decided to lie down on the grass near the lake and relax. Studying on how to read music was taxing, especially when she was trying her hardest to succeed. Usagi, however, didn't seem to notice that two people were watching her relax. When one of them went to her, another stepped in front of the other. "Ittoki-san," said Hotaru.
"Ah," said Otoya, "Hello, Tomoe-san."
"I would like to say something to you," said Hotaru.
"Oh," asked Otoya.
"Mhm," said Hotaru before looking at Otoya's red eyes, "Thank you."
"Thank you," asked Otoya curiously, "For what?"
"For being my hime's friend," said Hotaru, "And for pushing her to believing in her dream of composing for friends again."
"Eh," asked Otoya, "Hime?"
"That is something you don't need to know," said Hotaru mysteriously before saying, "Please continue to push my hime into believing in her dreams again."
Otoya didn't know what Hotaru was talking about when she said to keep pushing Usagi towards a dream thought dead, but he just smiled and nodded his head. Hotaru nodded back before turning to walk back towards the school, leaving Otoya with Usagi. Otoya was still confused even when he finally reached where Usagi was. "Yo~ho~, Usagi," said Otoya.
"Otoya-san," said Usagi who stared up when Otoya sat down next to her head.
"I just had a weird talk with your friend, Hotaru," said Otoya, "Something about not believing in your dreams?"
Usagi frowned as she heard Otoya. Hotaru was really pushing Usagi to not give up on being a composer. She shouldn't have told her that dream. That dream still made her heart hurt when she thought about not fulfilling that dream. Otoya, on his part, saw Usagi frown and decided to ask what was wrong. What the answer was wasn't what Otoya was expecting. "Remember what I told you about on my dreams to being a composer for my friends," said Usagi.
"Yes," said Otoya.
"Well, before coming here, I was deciding NOT to come," said Usagi, "I mean, my dream died when my friends did. How can I make music for my friends if they passed away?"
"Y-You almost decided not to come to Saotome Academy," asked Otoya.
"Mhm," said Usagi, "It was Hotaru's insistence that made me decide to go. But, how can I believe in a dream that went away with the wind?"
Otoya finally kind of realized why Hotaru was thanking him and asking to push Usagi towards her dreams. She lost her way when her friends died and didn't believe that her dream of composing for her friends would come true. But… weren't Otoya and Usagi friends, though still getting to know one another? "I think… that you should continue to believing in that dream," said Otoya slowly, "But, maybe with new friends along the way?"
"Eh," asked Usagi who sat up and turned to look at Otoya.
"Well, I think we are friends," said Otoya, "And, well, it would be nice to sing something you composed that was just for me."
"Otoya-san…," started Usagi.
"My dream… is to be a star," said Otoya, "I want to be a star so I can put a smile on everyone's faces. But, I can't do that if one of my friends is not smiling, ne?"
Usagi blinked at what Otoya confessed to her. His dream was so pure that she thought the Dead Moon Circus would have come back just to get his dream mirror. When Otoya also said about both of them being friends, a little bit of Usagi's heart somewhat repaired. It may not be perfect, but it was a start to healing. Yet, in Usagi's opinion, Otoya looked nervous as he said those things. Usagi saw his face and started to giggle. "O-Oye," said Otoya, "No need to be laughing at my dream."
"I'm not laughing at your dream," said Usagi with mirth in her eyes, "I'm laughing because of your face! You look so nervous talking to me about my dream."
"At least, I got a smile on your face," said Otoya, "I call that a win!"
"Un," said Usagi with a smile, "Thank you for cheering me up some. Maybe that's why I have a hard time composing. I sometimes feel alone, but that isn't true, ne? I have friends still."
"Yeah," said Otoya with a smile, "You have your friend Hotaru. And now, you have a new friend in me! Now, let's get to our assignment because what I said was true."
"Hm," asked a curious Usagi.
"I want to sing something that Tsukino Usagi composed," said Otoya, "Because that will be one step towards our dreams coming true!"

Usagi smiled as she watched Otoya sing his heart out in the recording booth. She felt happy that she accomplished a song that fits both Otoya and herself. When Otoya saw Usagi through the transparent window, Usagi smiled brightly back. Otoya almost faltered when he saw that first bright and happy smile Usagi gave. It reminded Otoya on what Hotaru said about Usagi losing part of herself. If that smile was genuinely hers before, Otoya hoped that one day, Usagi would smile more of that every day. 'I hope Usagi will never stop believing in her newest dream,' thought Otoya as he remembered what Usagi said that day after completing the song together…
"I guess I shall try to trust my newest dream with my old one," said Usagi after everything was done.
"And that is," asked Otoya.
"To never stop making music when bad things happen my way," said Usagi, "To never give up on making my friends' dreams come true turns to Otoya including yours, Otoya-san."
AN: And, that's the second chapter! 8D Remember Usagi's dream was to compose songs for Haruka and Michiru, her friends? However, that didn't happen, but she still went to Saotome Academy in the insistence of Hotaru. Though, no one knows it, Usagi lost that drive, that determination, of never giving up when her dream was shattered and blown away with the Outers' demise. ㅠㅠ Grief DOES do strange things to people, and that INCLUDES Usagi. So! For this chapter, Otoya is now a tentative new friend that wants to also sing Usagi's music while making Usagi believe in her dream again. =D I focused on dreams in this one because Usagi needed someone to push her to making an alternative one. That's what the ending was for. And, that's why I used some lyrics from Otoya's song, Trust My Dream, for this chapter. ^^ I hope that this kind of makes sense for the second chapter. m(_)m Remember that this is my FIRST ever crossover with Uta No Prince-sama and Sailor Moon. Please bear with me when I am writing this. Thank you! (^^)/ Anyways, happy reading everyone!
