Chapter 2: Bonding and Healing
Lucy's pov
I plopped my leg up on some pillows that uncle Charlie left for me. I body hurts from being hit by a car. My leg is starting to itch but I don't have anything to stick down into my cast to scratch. Uncle Charlie is really nice and he seems like he wants someone to have around. I never thought I could have a family member as sweet and caring like uncle Charlie. Laying down on the couch felt good. This couch is really comfy to the one I slept on for years.
Closing my purple eyes and relaxing to the point I fell asleep. I didn't dream at all but when the smell of hot food hit my nose I woke up. Charlie was placing the food and drinks on the coffee table. "I wasn't sure if I should wake you up or let you sleep." Charlie said with a shy smile. "I was just resting my eyes and the food smells really yummy." I said as I sat up and Charlie got me a tray for my food, so I can keep my left up and I can see the TV with out moving. "Thank you uncle Charlie." I said as he handed me my food. "You're welcome Lulu. What would you like to drink?" Charlie asked me. I looked at what he has. "Umm I take the Dr. Pepper." I said with a smile. Charlie smiled as he got me a glass with some ice and pour me my soda before handing it to me.
Charlie turned on the TV and changed it to the football game. Just as he finished getting his food out the game started. We sat there eating and cheering for our team. I was getting into the game and I moved my leg the wrong way. "Damn it!" I yelped in pain. "You ok Lulu?" Charlie asked with worry in his voice. "Yes. I just moved my leg the wrong way." I said with a watery smile. "You sure?" He said as he looked at me. "Yes, I'm sure. I just need to remember I can't move it that way." I said.
After a few hours of watching football I had to pee, so I reached for my crutches. Charlie looked at me. "Going to the bathroom." I said and he blushed a little but nodded his head. I made my way to the bathroom under the stairs. The bathroom is small but its cute, Charlie did a great job on fixing up the bathroom. Its a really pretty purple color and the tub is one of those old timely ones. The one's from the Victorian era. I could sit in it with my leg up on the side, so it wont get wet.
When I was done I came out and made my way back to the couch. "The bathroom is beautiful uncle Charlie." I said and he blushed a little. "Thank you Lulu. I've been working on that bathroom since Bella was small." Charlie said with a sad smile. "Who is Bella?" I asked him. "Oh sorry I forgot to tell you that you have a cousin. Isabella or Bella is my daughter who lives with her mother. She never comes to visit anymore." Charlie said in a sad voice. I sat there looking at him with shock. "I don't understand why she wouldn't want to see you. I'm jealous that she has a great father like you. I would kill to have a loving parent. I'm glade to have you in my life." I said to him.
Charlie had tears in his eyes. He didn't say anything and I knew he was happy to hear that. We sat there for a while just watching the games and munching on the snacks. My leg started to itch again and I started to whimper as I looked at my cast. "What's wrong Lulu?" Charlie asked me. "My leg is itching." I whimpered as I clawed at my cast. "Hang on I got you something for that. I knew your leg would start itching." Charlie said as he got up and went into the kitchen and came back. He had this small thin back scratchier.
When Charlie handed it to me I slide it down into my cast and I started to scratch my leg. "Oh, thank you so much." I purred as the itching started to fad. "You are welcome Lulu." Charlie said and I smiled at him. I like it when he calls me Lulu, but at the same time I miss the other name they gave me. As the sun started to fad from the room Charlie turned on the lamp next to my couch. "Tomorrow I be going to La Push to see a friend of mine. Did you want to come?" Charlie asked. I could tell he did this every Friday. "I'm going to stay here and rest or I would go with you. You have fun and be safe." I said with a smile. "You sure? I don't feel right leaving you here alone. I can call Billy up and let him know I wont be coming." Charlie said to me. "Don't cancel your plans cause of me. I don't mind being alone. If you have some books I be fine. I can spend day just reading." I said with a smile. "I don't have a lot of books but I can ask someone." Charlie said as he stood up. I looked at him. "I let you get some rest and I have to get at work early tomorrow. I will have some books for you when you get up in the morning Lulu." Charlie said before he kissed the top of my head before he left the living room.
I turned off the light before I snuggled down so I could get some sleep. Knowing I wont be getting much sleep since I like to move around while I sleep. So I be moving my bad leg as I sleep.
Charlie's pov
I went to my room and pulled out my cell phone. I called Carlisle knowing he should before about now. "Good evening Charlie what can I do for you?" Carlisle said to me when he picked me up. I smiled before I spoke. "I wanted to ask you if you or your family had any books that I could borrow for Lucy." I said to him. "Hmm. I know I have a few books but I don't know if she will like them. But I send them over. The others might have some I can ask when I get home. When do you need them?" Carlisle said. "I'm going to La Push after work tomorrow. If you can get them by then I appreciate it." I said to my friend.
"Oh yeah. I forget you go see Billy every weekend. You know what I send the books with one of the kids and they can help Lucy out when you are in La Push." Carlisle said and I can hear the smile in his voice. "What will be great and Lucy could use a friend. I like your kids and I think Lucy will get along with them." I said with a smile. "I see you later and be safe." Carlisle said before he hung up the phone. I smiled as I plugged my phone up before I got ready for bed.
The Cullen's pov
When Carlisle got home everyone was in the living room watching TV. "Welcome home my love." Esme said to him. Edward looked over at him. "Thank you Esme. I wanted to talk to you." Carlisle said as he sat down and Emmett turned off the TV. "Charlie ask me if we have any books we can let Lucy his niece borrow tomorrow while he is at La Push." Carlisle said to them. Rose looked at him waiting for him to go on. "I have some book she might like." Edward said first. "I do too." Jasper and Colt his twin brother said at the same time.
"Aye I think I have some the lass will like." Blaze said in this thick Irish accent. Blaze is Rose's mate and his is full on Irish. Tall build red hair and beard, before he was turned he had sky blue eyes. Blaze is a big reader like Edward is. "That will be great. Thank you so much for helping out." Carlisle said with a smile at his family. "I have one more think to ask." Carlisle said and Alice started to bounce in Colts lap. "Would a few of you go and keep Lucy company while Charlie is out?" Carlisle said. "I go ! Lucy don't have any clothes and Charlie wont get paid for another two weeks. I have a lot of clothes I can take over there for her!" Alice said with a huge smile on her face.
"Why should we go over there for?" Rose growled. She don't like them hanging around humans. Carlisle looked sad before he spoke. "I wasn't going to tell you about her but you should know a little about her." Carlisle said softly and Rose rolled her eyes. "Lucy's birth parents hated her. Her father did bad things to her and so did her mother. When they both died her case worker sold her to a mental institution. Who did awful experiments on her for years. Then the institution burned down and she lived in the forest for a few years before someone finding her. The person brainwashed her to be his puppet then he tried to kill her. She ran for it and then Charlie hit her with his car." Carlisle said to them.
Rose couldn't believe what she just heard and she didn't want to believe it. "How awful." Esme said softly. If she could cry she would be sobbing right now. "I would like to go too." Edward said feeling sad for this girl. He would like to be her friend. "I will go too." Jasper and Colt said at the same time. Being twins they think alike and speak at the same time. Jasper wanting to go because like Edward he felt sorry for her and wanted to be her friend. Colt wanted to meet her and see how she is and Alice is going and anywhere she goes he goes.
"I go too I take my gaming console and see if she wants to play." Emmett said with a smile. "I'm glade you will go and see her. She could use some friends." Carlisle said with a smile. Then Edward, Jasper, Blaze, Colt, Emmett and Alice zoomed out of the room to get books, clothes and games.
Lucy's pov
I heard Charlie get up early and left the house. Slowly moving my leg so I wont hurt my self again. Every time I want to move I have to wake up and slowly move my leg to where I want it to go. After moving my leg I went back to sleep. I guess it was around noon when I heard the knocking at the door. Getting up and grabbing my crutches I made my way to the door. Opening the door I see five beautiful teen on the other side. Four handsome males and one female. They have golden eyes like Dr. Carlisle's eyes. "Hello?" I said as I leaned on my crutches.
"Hello you must be Lucy. We are Dr. Cullen's children we have books and some other stuff for you." The boy with bronze hair said as he looked at me. "Oh. Well come on in then." I said with a smile as I moved out of the way. They walked in and followed me to the living room. I sat down and they all sat down beside the girl and one of the twins. They went back outside. I looked after them but the other twin spoke to me in a Texan accent. "They are going to get some more stuff. Alice has some clothes y'all might like sug." He said and I blushed.
"Ok that is sweet of her." I said as I eyed the huge boxes of books that they had. "Oh by the way my name is Edward. This is Emmett, Jasper and the other two are Colt and Alice." Edward said. "Its very nice to meet you all." I said as Alice and Colt came back in with more boxes. "So, what are we going to do first?" I asked them softly as they just looked at me. Alice danced over to me with a box. "How about we do the clothes first and the guys can play on Emmett's game. How about we go to the kitchen so they wont be in the way." Alice said.
"We in the way?" Emmett said in a mocking voice. I giggled at him as he looked at Alice who stuck her tongue out at him. "Colt would you help me bring the boxes into the kitchen?" Alice said as she helped me up. Alice helped me to the kitchen before she went to help Colt with the boxes. I sat at the table as the last box was brought in and sat on the floor. "Just let me know what you like as I bring them out. Carlisle told me about your size so I should be in the ball park with your size." Alice said as she brought over the first box.
Inside the box was very nice shirts. "This are a mix of Vontashe, Vondonta and darktava. Most of the clothes are from them." Alice said as she started to bring out shirts. There was different colors, most of them are v-necks and long sleeves. I liked them all and I couldn't choose. "Don't worry Lucy if you like them all then you can have them all. We have clothes that is just taking up space." Alice said with a smile. Then she grabbed another box in this one was dresses. The first one she pulled out is a two spaghetti straps and flows down into a beautiful semi-sweetheart neckline. Its a tight fit which makes the dress enjoyable to wear and look at.
Then next dress waist is wide, but its a tight fit. An elastic band within the dress perfectly accentuates my waist and breaks up the dress nicely. Below the waist the dress widens and has several asymmetric layers towards the bottom. The dress reaches the well above my ankles and is slightly longer at the sides. That was just some of them the rest was very nice and I would wear them. I'm not much for dresses but this dresses are awesome so I would wear them. Alice then pulled over another box full of skirts and shorts. I really got into this box, short skirts and shorts are my two favorite kinds of clothes. So I took the huge box of them.
After a two hours of going threw everything, Alice and I headed back into the living room where the boy are taking turns playing. Alice whispered something to Colt and he nodded. "Lucy I wanted to ask you what kind of books do you like?" Edward asked me with a crooked smile that was cute. "I like to read anything really. Anything I can get my hands on." I said and Edward looked at me with that same crooked smile that made my heart beat faster. It seemed like her could hear my heart cause he chuckled softly. "I'm the same way." Edward said to me. "Lucy want to play?" Emmett asked me. I turned to see them playing Death Match Six. "Hell yeah I do." I said and Emmett handed me a controller. I picked Zara Heart a Darkling with demonic powers.
Emmett picked Charles the killer. Then we started the fight and Emmett thought he was going to win. But I use to play with the best gamer in the house. So I did the killer combo that killed Charles painfully. "No way, she beat Emmett. No one has ever beat him before." Colt said as he watched them play. "How did you know about the killer combo?" Emmett asked me in shock. I smirked at him. "Well big boy I might not look like it but I do love to play the Death Match game. Besides that I use to play against he best gamer I know." I said with a smile. Emmett smiled back at me and he seemed to be happy.
After a few games with everyone I stopped and went through the boxes of books. I found a lot of them that I haven't read yet so I pulled out the first one and started to read it. I'm a speed reader so it didn't take me long to read the book. I noticed that Edward and Jasper are watching me read book after book. The house phone started to ring and Alice was nice enough to get me the phone. "Hello?" I said and Charlie spoke. "Hey Lulu. I wanted to let you know that the road back to Forks is flooded. So I wont be able to get back tonight." Charlie said to me. I didn't even notices it was raining hard. "Its ok uncle Charlie. I be fine and you be safe." I said. "You sure? I hate to leave you alone with your leg broken." he said.
"I'm really fine uncle Charlies. I can take care of my self. You be safe and have fun." I said. "Ok Lulu I see you whenever the roads are open." Charlie said before we said good-bye and hung up. "Everything ok?" Edward asked me. "Yes, but Charlie is stuck in La Push because the road is flooded." I said and they looked said. "Why we stay with you?" Alice said and every one looked at her. "What?" I said confused. "We can have a sleep over so you wont be alone. I love sleep overs!" Alice squealed. I couldn't help but to giggle at her. "That's fine with me." I said and they looked at me with a smile. "Ok why don't some of use go home and grab some clothes and other stuff." Edward said.
So Edward and Jasper stayed with me while the others headed home to get some stuff for a few days. I'm in the bathroom taking my bath and to get change into my night clothes. Alice picked out a few that I love. Some of them I have to wait till I heal to wear. Edward and Jasper took turns to make sure I was ok in the bathroom. When I came out they helped me back to the couch and the others are back. I didn't even hear them come in. I saw that they brought some covers and pillows so they can be comfy on the floor.
"Who wants to watch a movie?" Colt asked with a smile. "That sounds good, which movie are we going to watch?" I asked them. "What do you feel like watching?" Emmett asked me. They are looking at me. "How about a horror movie?" I suggested to them. "Sounds good to me." Colt said with a smile. Then Alice pulled out the movies she brought. She did have horror movies. "This are Colt's he loves horror movies and stuff." Alice said with a smile. "Me too." I said as I went threw the movies. Then I found one that looked good. "How about Pulse?" I said as I held out the movie. "I haven't seen this one yet so yes for me." Colt said and the others nodded. Edward left the room for a while as we got the movie ready.
Edward came back with a bowl of popcorn and a soda for me. "Thanks." I said to him as I took the bowl and soda. Jasper carefully lifted my legs and sat down. I saw he has a marker. "May I sug?" He asked me. I nodded as he smile at me. Then he carefully started to draw on my cast. The movie started and Emmett turned off most of the light besides the one next to Jasper so he can draw on my cast. Edward was sitting next to me but on the floor. His head is next to my arm and I really wanted to touch his hair and play with it.
I thought I heard Edward chuckle, but it must be me. I watched the movie more then what the others was doing. I finish my soda and popcorn about in the middle of the movie. When the movie was over Emmett turned on the lights again. "What did you think of it?" Colt asked me. "It was good, not as gory or bloody as I like." I said. "If you like that kind of movies. I got the movie for you." Colt said before he pulled out the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The beginning.
There was blood, gore and pain. I loved this movie and I want to watch the other ones. "Its getting late." Alice said after the movie was over. I looked at the clock on the wall. It was two in the morning. "Yeah, I guess you are right." I said as I looked at my cast. Jasper did a wicked job on my cast. I love what he did to it, it as a country feel to it. "Jazz can you pass me my crutches?" I asked him. Jasper smiled at me as he got them for me. Slowly I got up and headed to the bathroom.
When I got out the others got ready for bed too. I got back on to the couch and snuggled down into the covers as the others did the same. "Good night." I said before I passed out. I know I was out like a light, but I could hear them talking in low voice. It really doesn't matter I need rest, so my body and leg can heal faster. I am healing faster then a normal person, but for me I'm healing slowly.
The doc. Is right it will be about three weeks before I can fully heal. This is going to be a long slow healing. When you are use to healing in a day or two. I hate not being able to do things, but at lest I'm making new friends that are more then what they seem.
