Son Squad Ch.2

After making it back to his space pod, Raditz threw Gohan and Chiyo into it and locked it up tight, not like he expected them to get out of it if he hadn't. They both sobbed and hugged each other, not sure of what was really going on. After doing this for a few more minutes, Gohan and Chiyo tried opening the pod but it wouldn't budge.

"Daddy," the two sniffled as the huddled close to each other. All they had was each other at this moment. Their two tails wrapped around each other, a sign of comforting one another.

After minutes of sniffling, Chiyo finally wiped the tears from her eyes and looked at her older brother. She shook him so he'd lift his head up and look at her. "Hey Gohan, do you think the scary man was telling the truth about Daddy?" She questioned her brother. "Do you really think Daddy is an alien?"

Gohan wiped the tears from his eyes and thought about the issue at hand. He wasn't really sure if his Dad was an alien. It just didn't seem like it could be a real thing, right? Their Dad was too nice to be an evil alien like this guy said, right? "I…I don't know, Chiyo," Gohan admitted. "I mean, Daddy doesn't seem like he could be an alien."

"Either way, I just want Daddy to come save us already," Chiyo admitted.

"Me too," Gohan agreed.

Suddenly, they both heard voices outside. The two children leaned against the pod and listened in on who was talking. They heard the mean guy talking and an unfamiliar, grumpy voice. Then, they both heard the voice of their Father. Hopefully yet tearful smiles came to the twins' faces when they heard this; their Dad had come to save them after all!

"Daddy, we're in here!" Chiyo called out to her Father.

"Please get us out of here, Daddy!" Gohan sobbed.

"Don't worry guys, Daddy's here to save you," Goku told the twins. "Just hang tight a little longer, okay?"

The twins sighed in relief and hugged each other. Their Dad was here to save them from the mean man. Soon, they'd be home again with Mom and Chinku and the mean man would be a distant memory.

Gohan and Chiyo could hear the fighting going on outside between their Dad and the mean man. It sounded like things were going good until they heard their Dad screaming in pain.

"Oh no," Chiyo gasped. "Gohan, I think Daddy's in trouble." When she turned to look at her brother, Chiyo was surprised to find that Gohan was crouched over and slightly shaking. "G-Gohan? Are you okay?"

He didn't reply at all. Suddenly, without warning, Gohan jumped out of the pod, knocking his sister over, and breaking the ship with strength no one was expecting. The younger twin wasn't sure what to think about what had just occurred. How did her brother do that?

After coming out of her shock, the young girl tried climbing out of the crater to get a better understanding of what was going. It took her a few tries for Chiyo to try and climb out and she kept sliding back into the crater as she heard the exchanges between those above and her hat kept falling off her head. No way was she leaving that behind. Finally, the young girl made her way out of the crater. However, what she saw when she got out was horrifying: her Father was falling to the ground with a huge gaping hole in his stomach along with the foe that had taken her and her brother. It took her a second to register what was going on before her feet finally moved. "DADDY!" She cried as she ran over to her Father, her hat falling off of her head as she ran towards him.

While Piccolo dealt with Raditz, Goku turned his attention to Chiyo as she ran to him. He tried to reassure her that everything was going to be okay, but considering that he had a gaping hole in his stomach and was bleeding profusely it wasn't too convincing. "Chiyo, it's all right…You and your brother, are safe now."

"B-But you're hurt really badly, Daddy," Chiyo sniffled as she sat on her knees by Goku's side.

Goku weakly chuckled and placed a hand onto Chiyo's cheek. He tried wiping her tears away. He was too weak to explain the dragon balls, but he was sure that his friends would tell her what was up and everything would be okay.

When Bulma, Krillin and Roshi arrived on the scene, Piccolo explained to them about what Raditz had said and how there would be trouble in a year to come. Bulma had gone over to pick up Gohan and care for the unconscious boy while Krillin stayed by Goku's side along with Chiyo.

"I'm glad, that the twins…are okay," Goku stuttered out, the light slowly fading from his eyes. "Chi-Chi…won't be mad at you guys…..Krillin, can you….watch my kids while I'm gone? I know it's a lot…to ask of you-"

"I'll make sure to take care of them, Goku," Krillin interrupted, not wanting Goku to use any more strength. "But it's not going to come to that. You're gonna be fine."

Goku weakly chuckled. He then turned to look back at Chiyo, who was still crying. He still had his hand to her cheek and she placed her little hands over his. Had she always been so small compared to him? He never noticed until now. Huh, the things you notice when you're dying. "Listen, Chiyo….I need you to be strong for me, you and your brother….while I'm gone. Can you….promise Daddy that, sweetie?"

The little girl nodded immediately and clung tightly to her Father's hand, tears still running down her cheeks. "I promise, Daddy."

"….Good." Goku's hand slowly slipped from Chiyo's hold and fell to the ground. His eyes rolled into the back of his head and with that, Goku passed on.

"Daddy?"

Nothing.

"Daddy!"

Again, nothing.

"GOKU!"

Krillin tried shaking Goku awake but he wouldn't move an inch.

Chiyo, meanwhile, was sitting on her knees in tears. She had her hands covering her mouth as she looked at her Dad's lifeless form. This couldn't be happening, could it? "Daddy, please don't go," She begged. "You, you can't-"

Suddenly, Goku's body disappeared into thin air, shocking everyone. Piccolo made a snide remark about how Kami had something to do with this and that Goku would be back in a year. Chiyo wasn't sure what to think of this. Her Dad just died but he'd be back in a year? What? And who was Kami?

After re-growing his missing arm- horrifying all who watched- Piccolo decided to take Gohan off of everyone's hands. "He has great potential," Piccolo remarked as he held the unconscious boy in his arm. "And we'll need that against the Saiyans who will be here in a year. You can have him back once that's all said and done."

Just before he could fly off though, Chiyo grabbed onto Piccolo's cape. He turned to look at the small girl and smirked.

"What? You trying to stop me?" He mockingly asked.

Chiyo shook with fear as she looked up at the green man holding her brother. He terrified her and she knew he was looking directly into her eyes. He was like a monster from stories her mom would tell her at bedtime. A part of her wanted to run away right then and there, but another part of her knew that she couldn't do that, not if that meant leaving Gohan to be taken away. She was sure Gohan wouldn't stand by and let her be taken if the roles were reversed. "I-I…I wanna go with you," Chiyo declared, surprising everyone. "If you're gonna train Gohan, then I wanna be trained too to fight these Saiyans. I promised my Daddy I'd be strong."

While Piccolo wasn't sure about Chiyo's power being equal to that of Gohan's, he did see she had a fire in her eyes. She was determined. He could've easily cast her aside like a piece of trash, but a part of him still was curious to see what the child had in store. His smirk soon returned to his face. "Fine," He replied before picking her up by the back of her shirt. "But don't think I'll go easy on you."

Before the other adults could object to this notion, Piccolo flew off with Chiyo and Gohan as his new apprentices.

Krillin was left with the unfortunate task of telling Chi-Chi of Goku's death and of her children being abducted by Piccolo. He stood outside his best friend's home and practiced everything he was going to say several times over. He was still trying to find the right words to say when Chi-Chi opened the door, thinking that her husband had returned with her two older children.

"Krillin? What are you doing here?" She questioned.

The young man's tongue tied as he tried to explain what was going on. None the less, Chi-Chi invited him inside and made some tea for him while he tried to find his words. As he sat in the dining room, he felt a small tug at his leg. He looked down to find a little baby girl with black hair reaching her ears staring up at him. She had part of her fist in her mouth as her other one held onto Krillin's leg.

Oh, this must be Chinku, Krillin thought to himself as he picked the young girl up off the floor and put her in his lap. He still found it baffling that Goku had three kids now. Never would he think Goku would have children.

As he thought about that, Chinku reached up and started poking at Krillin who laughed a bit and bounced the 6-month girl on his knee. She giggled back in amusement.

Meanwhile, Piccolo had finally arrived at where he wanted to land. He touched down and instantly dropped Chiyo without warning while he dangled the still unconscious Gohan. Chiyo didn't particularly like being thrown on the ground but didn't want to argue with Piccolo since she was still scared of him. "Time to wake up, boy," Piccolo growled. That did nothing to wake Gohan so Piccolo decided to throw him into the pond nearby.

When Gohan woke up and saw Piccolo, he instantly got scared and started bawling his eyes out. "Daddy! Help me! I'm scared!" He cried, much to Piccolo's annoyance.

The Namekian went into the pond, pulled Gohan out and threw him over to his sister, knocking the both of them to the ground. As they both regained their bearings, Piccolo went over to stand in front of them. "Now listen boy, your Father is dead," Piccolo coldly stated.

Gohan started tearing up at the news as well as Chiyo, since she didn't like being reminded that her Father was dead. Piccolo barked at the both of them to can it.

While he explained the situation to them, Gohan had his tail wrap around Chiyo's tail. This was something the two would do to comfort one another when they were frightened and always seemed to soothe one another. Piccolo took note of this for later.

"Now then," Piccolo said once he was finished. "You and your sister will train with me for the next year to become stronger and beat this menace that's coming to Earth."

"B-But I'm not strong," Gohan whined. "Chiyo and I have never trained before."

"Then I'll guess I'll have to show you the power you have," Piccolo smirked.

Before either twin could react, Piccolo grabbed Gohan by the front of his shirt and dangled him in the air.

"Put him down!" Chiyo shouted, pounding on Piccolo's leg and doing nothing.

With a single and swift motion, Piccolo chucked Gohan in the air and towards a mountain a great speed.

"GOHAN!" Chiyo shielded her eyes as Gohan was slung towards the mountain but opened them when she heard an explosion. When she looked back up, she gasped when she saw the mountain- along with the mountain behind it- had been completely obliterated. Gohan did that? She thought before running over to Gohan's side.

"Now it's your turn, girl," Piccolo said to Chiyo.

Before she had time to react, Chiyo found herself being flung towards a different mountain. She screamed at the top of her lungs, terrified that she was going to be smashed like a pancake. Before she hit the rock, she suddenly stopped in mid-air. Chiyo slowly opened her eyes to find that she was floating, just like how her Dad would do sometimes. Not what Piccolo thought he'd get but an interesting result to say the least. She may not be as strong as the boy, but she has the reflexes we'll need against the Saiyans.

Suddenly, Chiyo lost her concentration and fell face-first into the ground. The young girl sat up and tried her best not to cry at the pain she was feeling. "Oww, oww, oww."

We'll work on it. "Now then, the training begins," Piccolo remarked once both children were front and center to him. "Take off your surcoats."

"Y-Yes sir," they both replied at the same time. As they did so, Piccolo had a thought come to mind about how he would do this training.

"S-So what do we do now?" Gohan questioned.

"A-Are you gonna throw us again?" Chiyo asked.

"No," Piccolo replied, causing both children to sigh in relief. "I'm going to leave you here for six months. Survive on your own until then and then the real training will begin."

"S-Six months?!" Gohan and Chiyo shouted at the same time.

"B-But we're just kids! We can't survive on our own out here!" Gohan whined.

"Y-Yeah!" Chiyo added. "What about food and stuff?! And a bed?!"

Piccolo scoffed. These children were spoiled. "You think those luxuries will save you from the Saiyans? Please, don't make me laugh."

"Well…..I guess we're on our own for now, Chiyo," Gohan said to his sister.

"Y-Yeah."

"Now who said anything about you two being together?"

"Huh?" Gohan and Chiyo questioned.

Piccolo quickly grabbed Chiyo and held her by the back of her shirt and out of Gohan's reach. "W-Wait, what are you doing?!" Gohan gasped.

"You two will be doing your training separately for each other, learning to survive on your own," Piccolo answered. "If you stayed together, you'd coddle one another for sure."

"Put me down!" Chiyo shouted.

This was completely crazy. Gohan and Chiyo had practically been together since they were born. Piccolo couldn't possibly separate them! They needed each other.

As Piccolo flew off with the young girl, she continued to kick and shout. "GOHAN!"

"CHIYO!"

When Piccolo finally touched down in the area he picked for Chiyo's training, he threw the girl down and flew out of reach of her. She was in a wooded area, unlike an open one like her brother, with trees in every direction and a river not too far away. Piccolo wanted Gohan out in the open so he could focus more on his power while Chiyo was meant to be in a wooded area to focus on harnessing her speed better.

"Welcome to your new home for the next six months," Piccolo remarked.

"B-But what about Gohan?" Chiyo questioned. "Please Mr. Piccolo, you can't separate. I-I bet we'd be stronger if we were together."

"Don't worry; if you both survive the next six months, then you'll be with each other again and learn how to fight from me."

With that, Piccolo left the young girl alone to fend for herself.

After he vanished, Chiyo began to cry. She wasn't sure what she could do. They had only been camping a few times but she never really got the hang of it. She stayed like that for a few minutes before she stopped her crying, remembering the promise she had made to her Father. "You gotta be strong for Daddy," She told herself. "You promised him you would."

With that resolved, Chiyo went out to try and look for some food.
