Chapter one part 2:
Pov Daphne:
A quiet night, as usual, had settled upon the Greengrass manor, where the stars danced around the moon in the sky, but something was off tonight... She kept feeling a pain in her chest the whole day and she prayed that this feeling would wear off soon. She looked out of her balcony at the Garden of Lady Greengrass—or at least that was what she kept calling her in secret and in the deepest thoughts of her mind. Her family had gone on a little vacation overseas but she had declined the invitation to join in—she had never liked travel ever since she was young. 'Every time I leave, something bad happens,' she thought to herself.
While she kept staring, she didn't feel like someone was standing in her bed-chamber—or rather, she was pretending not to feel it, knowing very well why that person was there in the first place but keeping lying to herself that it was one of her mind's delusions...
She felt telltale tears fall down her face. The woman that stood in the dark corner of the chamber wanted to hold her, hug her closer to her chest, but couldn't move because of shame. She kept crying silently, then stood up, wiping her face, and went to the bathroom. She had a little cold shower to wash away the negative vibration that was taking over her body and opened in silence her wardrobe. She picked a long, lacey dress, the hue of the daylight sky, and put on a black-hooded cloak around her shoulders. As she stepped outside to the bed-chamber, there was that woman. Daphne herself stood proudly, knowing her fate, knowing where this night was going to lead to, so, emotionless, she said in a cold voice, "I'm prepared, Eva. Shall we go?".
The woman named Eva nodded and held her hand to apparate from the room to the abandoned church.
And when she was about to enter, she heard voices inside; she knew she was going to marry but she never knew whom... Her brother had told her that this was her only chance and of course, she wanted to refuse at first, but her love for her brother and her devotion to him stopped her. She had faith in him.
She was, after all, so loyal to him—more than anyone—and that's why she was ready—or so she thought.
She held on to Eva's coat's end; from all the stress, she could barely walk. Eva, the black-haired lady, gave her a sad smile and said smoothly while her hand touched little Daphne's pinkest cheek, "Hush, sweet child, I know you'll be fine, ready?"
Daphne nodded.
"Then shall we," Eva said, trying to lighten the atmosphere. She opened the old gate to find three men standing in the aisle. She was praying that this night ended well.
Daphne looked to the three men. She knew Berz but the other two… The older man, she had seen him somewhere— wait, wasn't this Sirius Black, the dark lord's right hand?! Daphne panicked; what had her brother done, she needed to leave NOW. But if brother had picked him, there must be a reason... But why HIM... Daphne felt tears in her eyes; she forgot about the whole world and all she could see was darkness until she heard Eva speaking to someone. "Harry, we are so sorry but this is our last hope for survival. This girl beside me needs help, protection, and home, and regardless of how strong we are, we can't give it to her... I'm so sorry I dragged you and Sirius into this shit but I had no choice… WE have no choice. Right now and from this moment you're going to have her as your companion, wife, and friend... I'm so ashamed to say it, you're too young for this shit..."
Wait, what? Harry? Harry who? Daphne looked over her shoulder to see no one other but Harry the-boy-who-lived Potter standing there. She felt so confused—what in the world was going on?
"WAIT... WHAT! WIFE? WHOSE... NOT ME... WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME... WHAT THE HELL ..SIRIUS!?"
"Young man, keep quiet. We're not doing it willingly. We're out of choices and she needs protection now more than ever. If you do it, I assure you your life and Sirius's will be safe from this Voldemort—you have our word. Now are you in or not? But I must remind you this marriage will stay secret until the time comes; do you understand me?"
Daphne looked at Eva, who seemed calm. If brother had picked him, then why is Sirius Black here...
Harry cleared his throat calmly and said, "Let's get on with it... "
Daphne came forth when she saw Berz giving her the signal to approach, and took off her cloak. She heard Harry gasp; she knew he didn't know her—she was in his year but had never picked on him with Draco and Pansy's gang.
He yelled in shock: "DAPHNE GREENGRASS!".
