Part Two
APOV
After the tournament, Cody won, by the way, the three of us began to leave when...
"Akane." I stop at kiddo's voice when I look over at him. "Leaving so soon?"
"Yeah," I said. "I have to get up early for a class I'm going to tomorrow." Which, that wasn't a lie since I did signed up for a karate class since tomorrow is my first day.
"What kind of class?" That was from Davis when he and the rest of the second generation came in. Great. I even told Wanyamon and Salamon not to say anything about my plan of being a vigilante.
"Just a class that I signed up for, you know, as a simple hobby." I said.
"Are you still going to the beach this weekend?" Kari asked me when I completely forgot about it. I was about to say something when I hear someone clearing his throat behind me. I look over and saw it was a man, wearing a gray trench coat with a black suit underneath and has dark brown short hair with gray eyes.
"Miss Akane Haruno?"
"Yes?" I backed away from him, hearing both of my Digimon growling softly.
"Don't worry, miss, you're not in trouble," He said, holding his badge out. "I'm Detective Joseph Sano." He even have an American accent in his voice. "Do you mind if I ask you some questions, it's regarding about Mr. Daichi." I blink at that.
"Is he okay?" I asked him in concern.
"He's doing well, miss, Mr. Daichi and his grandson have head back home and told me about you and the incident with the men who were trying to get him out of his shop few days ago." He said. "I was wondering if I can get your statement?"
"Sure." I nodded, then look over at the kids. "I'll be back in a bit." Then, I look up at the Detective. "Is it okay my Digimon would come along?"
"Of course." He nodded, then led me outside and leading away from the dojo, where is a bit quiet from chatting people. Not until I hear Wanyamon squeaked.
"Akane, look." I look up and gasped at the sight of another...
"Is that Garurumon?" The Detective chuckles.
"Yes," He said, standing next to him. "He actually happens to be my three year old son's Digimon, but since he's still a baby, he became mine for now," Detective Joseph look over at me. "To help me solve cases and crimes."
"Nice to meet you, Miss Haruno," Even this Garurumon sounded similar to the one I knew, but much deeper and his stripes are actually gray colored, instead of blue.
"Nice to meet you, too, Garurumon." I said. "You look exactly like my friend's Garurumon, except he's all white and blue stripes." He chuckles a bit.
"Now, about Mr. Daichi," Detective Joseph began. "Where were you when the incident is taking place?"
"In my school since the shop is right in front of it." I said while he began to write down in his notepad. "I was actually on the roof top during my lunch when I hear what's going on, so I went ahead climb over the fence and jump onto a tree to climb down to stop it." He and Garurumon look up at me in shock.
"Did you say you climb over the fence and jump onto a tree? From the roof top?" I giggled a bit.
"Akane is a very active girl," Wanyamon said.
"She's the kind of girl who wants to join the action and isn't going to back down from a fight." Salamon said with a giggle.
"They're telling the truth," I said with a proud smirk. Detective Joseph and Garurumon look at each other, then the detective cleared his throat and continue asking me questions.
"Then, what happen after you manage to climb down from the roof top, even though it's dangerous to do so." He said. I went ahead explain to him during that time, of how the jerk telling me that Mr. Daichi haven't been paying his lease to the bank when I learned about that from Kiyo at the hospital.
Then, I told the detective that Mr. Daichi also told me the same thing when the jerk showed a form of bankruptcy since I knew it was a fake. I even mentioned of what Kiyo told me that Mr. Daichi already paid the shop and the building right there and then on the first day he gotten it.
"I see." Detective Sano said. "Did you asked them for their names?" I shake my head.
"Even Mr. Daichi told me that those guys came out of nowhere and never told him who sent them to go after him." He hummed, then closes his notepad. "What's gonna happen to the shop?"
"I'm not sure," Detective Sano said when he look up at me. "I think we got what we need, we'll keep in touch, if anything," He hands me a card and I taken it. "Give me a call." I thought about the missing kids.
"Anything on the missing kids?" I asked him in concern.
"No, not yet." That made me frown.
I watch his Garurumon went ahead home while Detective Sano got into his car, giving me a wave, then left the dojo. I look down at his card with his name on it.
"What now, Akane?" Salamon asked me when I look up at her, then at Wanyamon.
"Akane." I hear Matt when I look over and saw him came in.
"Matt, hey."
"The kids told me that a detective was with you?" I nodded. "About what?" Since when he gotten into my business?
"Nothing major, Matt." I began to leave. "I gotta go home, tell the kids I'll see them at the beach this weekend." Wanyamon went ahead digivolve into Gaomon, then armor digivolve to CieloGarurumon and took us home in the air, with Matt watching us.

It's the next morning, Saturday and I'm already up and getting ready to go to my karate class when my phone began to rang.
I groaned. "That better not be Tai."
I grab it from my desk and saw it was..."Sora?" I answered her. "Morning, Sora."
"Morning, Akane." She greeted. "Hey, turn on the news real quick, there's something you should see, it's regarding about last night." Huh? I went ahead turn on my laptop and put on the news for Wanyamon and Salamon to see when the three of us saw CielaLynxmon on screen about the incident last night.
"Oh, crap." I murmured. That's when I hear the doorbell. Great.
Few minutes later...
"CielaLynxmon is Mikemon?"
"You're kidding?"
"No, I'm not," I said when Tai, Matt and the second generation, with the addition of Sora came in, are in my house, with me explaining what happened last night.
"I only did it, because Akane was being followed." Salamon said, which it made me to glare at her a bit. "Oops."
"Wait, what?"
"You were being followed?" Sora asked in concern.
"By who?" Matt scolded while I raised my hands up to defend.
"Some jerks that were taunting Mr. Daichi few days ago," I said. "They were trying to get rid of him since the shop actually belong to him. That's why CielaLynxmon manage to scare those guys out, so I had a feeling that they knew about me and I can't let them follow us all the way to the tournament last night, because I don't want you guys to get involved."
"Akane, you would've called us and pick you up." Tai said, being a typical protective neighbor that he was before. I roll my eyes.
"I don't need your protection, Tai," I tell him. "I gotten CieloGarurumon and Mikemon with me, okay? You know I'm no Mary Sue."
"Doesn't matter," He scolded. "You're our friend, I get it you don't like being a damsel in distress, but do we need to remind you of all the incidents you've pulled during our days in the Digital World?" Why does he have to remind me?
"I'm sure you don't want me to remind you of how I was under Piedmon's spell and almost killed you when I've became MirageGaogamon for the first time." That was from Wanyamon when we look over at him on the table with the rest of the In-Training Digimon, Patamon and Gatomon with Salamon by her side.
"Or, how about the stunt you pulled when we were fighting Diaboromon the second time when he came back to get his revenge?" Sora reminded me.
"Okay, okay, okay, I get it!" I said, stopping Davis for what he's going to say while I gave him my death glare for him to shut up.
"Whatever you did to those guys, they're not gonna stop." Tai said. "I don't know the whole story about Mr. Daichi, but you need to be careful next time. That's all we're asking, Akane, please." I exhale.
"Okay, I won't do anything dangerous." I said, seeing him giving me a scolded look in his brown eyes. "I'm serious, I won't! Now, can I go to my room and get ready for the beach? I owe the kids for that, don't I?" Well, so much for going to my first karate class. Hopefully, they'll give me my refund since I've missed my first day and I did forget about the beach plan.
So, that's what we did. We all went to the beach. My dad drove us there since I also invited him and my mom to come along, so they can chaperon us. With me, I'm just staring out the window, seeing the city change a little bit since my parents and I moved here from Okinawa almost eight years, now.
Honestly? I wasn't really looking forward to this beach day. It's just the second generation, Sora, Tai and Matt and me and my parents, along with our Digimon. Maybe I could use this time to have Wanyamon and Salamon to train, so either one of them can come along with me with my second life I'm creating.
"By the way, Akane," I hear my mom when I look up at her from behind. "What are you creating in your room? Are you cosplaying again?" Told you guys my parents are going to think my suit is a costume.
"Yeah, I'm becoming Batgirl of Burnside, with my own take of my suit." I said, even though it's a lie, but I can't tell her and everyone about my vigilante life. "It's still in work of progress." I can tell Wanyamon and Salamon are looking at me with those concern look in their eyes while I held them close to me.

I just stayed on my towel, to get a little sun on my skin while Davis, Ken, Yolei, my parents, Tai and Matt are playing volleyball while Kari, Cody, TK and Sora building sand castles with the Digimon. I'm just wearing a simple one piece ultramarine blue bathing suit with of course, white paw prints everywhere. Presenting my sweet boy, Wanyamon.
Then, I stood up and head over to the cooler on my dad's side to get a water bottle when I saw a red frisbee landed besides me.
"Mm?" I grab it and look up, seeing a guy coming towards me.
"Hey, sorry about that," He said. He's cute, though. He has bright green eyes with blackish-brown medium style hair that made his eyes darken a little, emerald even that could put a smile on your face. He even wearing a gray tank top with a pair of white swim trunks.
"It's cool." I said as I hand the frisbee back to him. He taken it.
"Thanks."
"No problem." I was about to turn when he said something.
"Uh, actually," I look back at him, seeing him look a bit shy. "My friends did it on purpose, so I can come over and talk to you." Huh?
"Oh, I-I see." Wait, what am I acting so shy? This is nothing, I had boys coming up to me like the guy is doing right now, well, mostly at school, thanks to Yolei for setting up for that stupid blind date the other day.
"I'm Riku," He held his hand out to me. "And you are?" I taken it with a grin.
"Akane. Nice to meet you, Riku." He smiles, which it made me blush a little.
"You, too, Akane."
"Hey, Riku, come on! You're holding up the game!" I heard his friends when we look over and saw them waving at Riku to go over there. He look back at me.
"Sorry, duty calls," He said. "Hopefully, we meet each other again." I nodded.
"You bet." I said, then he lets go of my hand and began to leave while I wave, seeing his friends began to tease him and hearing him scolding them, which it made me giggle a bit.
I turned back around and jumped at the sight of Yolei. "Goddamn it, Yolei! Don't do that!"
"Akane Haruno, are you flirting with a boy?" She teased me, which it made me blush.
"I wasn't flirting!" I snapped at her. "He just came over, because he accidentally tossed his frisbee over here and that's it!"
"And you given your name to him," She said, more like wiggling her eyebrows. "Which means, he's interested in you." I scowled while she giggled. I turn her around and push her back to the game.
"Go play your stupid volleyball game." I scolded her, hearing her laughing while I walk back to my towel, noticing that everyone was staring at me. "What?" Everyone look away and went back to their own stuff, except Matt, who busied himself with a random girl he met.
Huh, where did she come from? I shrug my shoulders and drank my water.

After the beach, my parents are at the diner, working as usual while I'm at home, finishing up my suit, so I can get ready for my first night. Not until my laptop is telling me that I'm receiving a face cam call, from Mimi.
"Probably Yolei told her what happened." I groaned when I answer it after I sat down on my bed and she's on screen. "Hey, Mimi."
"Hi, Akane. How are you?"
"Good and yourself?" I asked while I hear my two Digimon purring and growling during their nap on the big throw pillow I've bought.
"Pretty good, Yolei sent me a message that you've met a guy at the beach earlier today." See?
"We were just talking, nothing else." I said.
"She even told me that Matt was talking to a girl after he saw you talking to the guy." Huh? "Someone was jealous." She giggled.
Matt was jealous? Why?
"I thought he still had feelings for Sora." I reminded her.
"Are you really that dense? Matt likes you, Akane, always have and always will." I exhale.
"Well, me and him aren't going to work out since I turned down Tai, telling him that I only see him as my best friend." I said, reminding myself the day I left to live with my uncle and the kids in America for three years is when he told me. A day after we've came back from Digital World after we defeated Apocalymon.
"I-I really like you, Akane. I know you're leaving for your trip to America, but I just wanted to let you know how I feel about you and well...when you come back, maybe, if we can give it a shot, you know?"
Not until the day that Diaboromon came into the picture and almost destroy the Real World with the two missiles he launched and our two Mega Digimon, Omnimon and MirageGaogamon Burst Mode managed to stop him and the timer from counting down.
After that, Tai didn't know that he sent the letter to Sora, twice. I read it and seem to me that he has feelings for Sora, which it made my heart sadden since I've developed a crush on him during our adventures in Digital World.
I even developed a crush on Matt, too, but not anymore during our adventures with the second generation since all of us found out that he and Sora been going on dates, which of course, this upsets not only me, but Tai, too. In fact, he has no idea that I read the letter he wrote to her that day.
Then, within a week later after we've found out, Tai reminded me that day, the day I left and right there and then, I told him about the letter and how I wanted us to be best friends.
Yeah, I broken his heart, but within few days, he gotten over it and being the same Tai I grew up with. Being melodramatic, goofball, yet protective best friend I've ever had.
"I don't want to be involved in a love triangle," I tell Mimi. "Of what you said is true, then I don't care what he thinks. Like I said, Matt and I would never work out, so I'm happy he moved on and I'm sure the girl he spoke to will treat him really well."
"Akane."
"I gotta go, Mimi, I'll talk to you later, okay? Bye." Before she said something else, I closed my laptop and lied down to my pillow, exhaling and taking everything in from all those memories till now.
Was Matt trying to get me jealous? Why?
Whoever I want to date is none of his business. Yeah, he's one of my best friends, but like I said, me and him would never work out, never have and never will. He lost his chance, well, me losing his chance for me to tell him how I feel before he said he and Sora been on dates, so I figured he had feelings for her.
Now that I thought about it, I thought they were dating. Whatever happen to that? Whatever, it's not my business to know.
I went back to the floor and continue working on few touches of my suit since I only got few hours to kill before nightfall, so I look into my comic book and smirk at the sight of one weapon Batgirl uses for her to 'fly' when she fight crimes.
It's a good thing I have him on speed dial.
"Hey, Benji, it's Akane. I'm good and yourself? Hey, are you busy right now? No? Sweet, can you keep a secret? Swear on your own grave? Because, if you tell, I'm gonna have one of my Digimon go after you." Yeah, my new friend knows about Digimon, too. "How fast can you build me a grappling hook?"
