Twilight Sparkle and Discord, along with Boulder, went to Ponyville's library. Twilight was wearing a blue jacket, that Discord had bought her. The jacket was blue, with some yellow dots on it. It looked similar to the cape, that Starswirl wore. Twilight looked at Discord, while saying, "Thank you, for the jacket. It's really comfortable and it makes me look like Starswirl."

Discord replied, "You look nothing, like Starswirl."

Twilight Sparkle looked a little disappointed, while saying, "I see."

Discord seemed surprised, while asking, "Are you actually offended, that you don't look like Starswirl? Starswirl's a scruffy-looking geezer, who has a silly beard. You look much prettier and cuter, than that old wizard."

Twilight Sparkle smirked, while replying, "I had no idea, that you thought I was so pretty and cute."

Discord put his hand in front of her face, while saying, "Hold on, Twilight. In comparison to Starswirl, you look great, but that doesn't mean you look great, in general."

Twilight Sparkle sarcastically replied, "Thoughtful sentiment."

Discord responded, "You should expect nothing less, from the master of chaos." Most ponies would be annoyed by Discord, but Twilight knew Discord was improving, which is why she tolerated his eccentric comments.

The library guests, who had come to see the new Starswirl book, were told to sit down, around the fiction section. Dozens of ponies started sitting down, while looking anxious. They didn't want to wait any longer, for the show to begin.

While in her seat, Twilight Sparkle looked around and started counting the number of books, that the library had. After counting as many as she could see, from where she was sitting, she tapped Discord's shoulder and said, "There's something off-putting, about this library."

Discord asked, "What is it?"

Twilight Sparkle said, "For a library, this place doesn't have many books."

Discord asked, "Are you kidding me? This place has hundreds of books."

Twilight Sparkle said, "From my calculations, I believe I've deduced the number of books, that this library has. If my calculations are correct, this library doesn't have as many books, as my castle."

Discord smiled and replied, "Then you must be a hoarder, when it comes to books."

Twilight Sparkle responded, "Get real, Discord. This library doesn't have enough books."

Discord said, "If you're so concerned, you should become a librarian."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "I couldn't do that. I'm busy, with being a princess."

Discord said, "Royal responsibilities sound like such a bore and so do books, so either way, you can't win."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "Thanks a lot, Discord."

Discord looked down at Boulder, who was on Twilight's lap. Discord asked, "How is Boulder feeling?"

Twilight Sparkle shrugged her shoulders and asked, "How am I supposed to know? He's a rock."

Discord put his hand on his chin, while saying, "Even though he's always silent and never moves, we don't know if it's inanimate or not."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "I'm pretty sure it is. However, it's something I never discuss, because I don't want to hurt Maud's feelings. Boulder is her favorite pet."

Discord raised an eyebrow and asked, "She has a rock, for a pet?" He looked amused, while saying, "Your friends are certainly eccentric and I don't mean that as a bad thing. I find weirdness to be the most underrated, of all attributes."

The show was being hosted by Cheerliee. She went to the front of the crowd. Twilight, along with some of the overly-enthusiastic ponies, started clapping. Cheerliee smiled, while saying, "I appreciate the clapping, but I haven't even done anything, yet."

Discord replied, "If you left, right now, you'd probably get a second round of applause."

Cheerliee said, "You might be right and that would be an honor, but I plan on doing more, than just receiving applause. I'm here to present the library's newest book. The book stars Starswirl, one of Equestria's most beloved heroes. The book is called Starswirl vs. The Chaotic Wizard."

Discord whispered, "So-so title."

Cheerliee said, "We have a special guest, to present the book. Get ready, to go back to clapping, because the real-life Starswirl is here."

A moment later, Starswirl stepped into the book. As to be expected, he was wearing his cape and his beard was incredibly long. The crowd started going crazy. They clapped, very loudly. They threw flowers, which led to a bouquet of flowers falling into Starswirl's beard. He quickly removed the bouquet and started walking by the crowd.

Discord whispered to Twilight, "So, they hired some geezer, to pretend to be Starswirl?"

Twilight Sparkle whispered, "No, it's the real Starswirl."

Discord raised his eyebrows, while asking, "Starswirl's a real pony?"

Twilight Sparkle could hardly believe, that Discord didn't know about the real Starswirl, since he lived in Ponyville. Twilight said, "Yes, he's a real pony. Starswirl's one of the best ponies!"

Twilight was talking louder, than she normally would, when at a library. Several ponies heard her, including Cheerliee and Starswirl. Cheerliee nervously smiled and said, "Twilight, an indoor voice would be appreciated."

Twilight Sparkle felt embarrassed, while replying, "I'm sorry."

Starswirl said, "It's quite alright. I'm flattered, that you think so highly of me, Princess Twilight."

Cheerliee looked at Starswirl, while saying, "I'm sure there's a lot you want to say, about your new book."

Starswirl asked, "Are you kidding? If I told you everything, that happens in the book, you wouldn't need to buy it. The only thing, that you need to know, is that this is a fictional story, about me fighting a wizard, who specializes in chaos."

Cheerliee said, "In that case, I believe it's time I present the new book." Cheerliee walked to a nearby table, that had a large sheet on it. She took off the sheet and presented several copies, of the new book. The guests got excited and started rushing towards the table.

Twilight Sparkle wanted to get the new book, as fast as possible. However, there was a longer line, than she was expecting. She got into line. There were over a dozen ponies, that were ahead of her.

Discord used his magic, to teleport to the front of the line. He smiled at Cheerliee, while saying, "Greetings, Cheerliee. I'd like a copy of the book, if you please."

Cheerliee replied, "You can have a copy, for only two-hundred dollars."

Discord angrily raised an eyebrow, while asking, "You're charging money, for the books?"

Cheerliee explained, "Well, Starswirl's the one, who gets the money. I just get a small fee, for sponsoring the show."

Discord folded his arms and said, "This is outrageous. I demand a copy, for free. I was given a ticket, to this show."

Cheerliee replied, "The ticket just gives you permission, to enter the show and meet Starswirl."

Discord said, "That's a ripoff. If you're going to charge money, for the book, it should be at a lower price. After all, we're the first group of people, who get to see the book, so we deserve a good deal."

Cheerliee replied, "I'm sorry, sir, but two-hundred is the number of dollars, that Starswirl's charging."

Discord pointed at Starswirl, while saying, "This guy's a con-artist." Several ponies gasped, while Twilight look concerned.

Starswirl gave Discord a disapproving look, while asking, "What are you talking about?"

Discord asked, "Do you actually think, that two-hundred dollars is an acceptable price."

Starswirl replied, "Of course it is. After all, I have to make money."

Discord responded, "Ah, ha! It appears you've proven the fact, that you just want to make money. How many pages are in the book?"

Starswirl paused, before saying, "It's not something I remember, off the top of my head, but I think there's about eighty-five pages."

Discord asked, "That's it? Most writers charge less money, for longer books."

Starswirl was getting tired of Discord's comments. He angrily stared at Discord, while saying, "You might be a fan, but I'm not a fan, of what you have to say. Either pay or get out of here."

Discord stuck his tongue out, before replying, "I'm out of here."

Starswirl watched Discord exit the library, while saying, "Thank goodness, that he decided to leave. The library didn't need that pest's ungrateful attitude."

Twilight Sparkle felt she was in a difficult situation. Starswirl had been one of her heroes, ever since she was a kid and she was very excited, to get a copy of her new book. However, she came to the library, with Discord, who had been nice and supportive. She continued standing in line, while wondering what she was supposed to do.

After Discord left the library, he sat on a nearby bench, while saying, "It seems like I made myself look like a fool, tonight. However, this situation could of been avoided, if Starswirl hadn't been so greedy. I can't think of anything, that's worth that much money."

Discord looked at one of the library's windows and saw that Twilight was still in-line. He said, "It seems like she stayed. I can't blame her, though. This was supposed to be her big night, not mine. That doesn't mean I don't feel offended, that she didn't come after me, after I stormed out of the library." He sighed and said, "I should just move on. I have better things to do, than mope around. I'm the master of chaos. I have to have fun."

Discord walked across the street and saw a couple of shops. There was a small grocery store, a DVD shop and a gift shop. Discord said, "I should take a look, at the gift shop. They might have something more interesting, than a silly book and I'm sure they have better prices."

The gift shop was run by the Flim-Flam brothers. Flim and Flam were a duo of salesmen, who loved making money. Their greed had becomes infamous, but they were highly-successful. Flim quickly walked up to Discord and said, "Greetings, sir. My name is Flim. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Discord replied, "I'm just trying to find something, to take my mind off of."

Flim said, "Oh, has somebody been dealing with drama?"

Flam asked, "Did somebody lose a mustache?"

Flim said, "If you did, we can help, because we sell mustaches, that look so real, that you wouldn't be to tell the difference."

Discord replied, "I'm not here, for a silly mustache. I just came back from the library."

Flim said, "That library's a scam."

Discord nodded and replied, "It sure is. They were charging two-hundred, for one book and it wasn't even a long book. Talk about a ripoff."

Flim responded, "This is your lucky day, because we're selling the same book, for only fifty dollars."

Discord was excited, at first. However, he paused and said, "Hold on, Flim and Flam. How did you guys get copies, of a brand-new book?"

Flim tried to remain calm and confident, while replying, "My brother and I made made a promotional deal, with the library. We give them a few items, on the house and in return, they give us copies of their newest books."

Flam said, "Unlike the library, our prices are reasonable."

Flim said, "We care about our customers. Our prices represent that."

Discord started thinking about the offer. He said, "Fifty dollars is more than I'd like to pay, for a single book. However, it's a lot more tempting, than two-hundred dollars. I have been wanting to read this book."

Flim replied, "We can't blame you. Starswirl is one of the best literary heroes, of our time."

Discord scoffed and said, "Yeah right. Starswirl's an old con-man. It's his new enemy, that I want to read about. Starswirl's fighting a wizard, who loves chaos and chaos happens to be my main thing."

Flim replied, "Then you're going to love this book. This is certainly a book, where the villain steals the show. Because of our low prices, we probably won't have copies of the book, for much longer. I suggest you make a decision, soon."

Discord thought about it, for a few more minutes, before saying, "You know what? I'm going to buy it."

Flim started walking to the register, while replying, "That's an excellent decision, sir. You're going to have a great time, with this book."

Flam said, "It's one of the best books, of the year."

Discord handed fifty-dollars, to Flim and Flam. Flim placed a book in Discord's arms. Discord looked at the book. Unlike the books, that the library was selling, this book wasn't glossy. Also, the words and numbers, that were on the pages, looked a little fuzzy. Discord said, "Something seems off, about this book."

Flim replied, "I don't know what you're talking about, sir. That's a brand-new book."

Flam said, "It's a high-quality item."

A pony police-officer entered the shop and said, "It's an illegally-made item."

Discord asked, "What?"

The police officer explained, "Earlier, a copy of the new Starswirl book was stolen from the library. Cheerliee suspected, that the thief wanted to make illegal copies." The police officer took a closer look, at the books and said, "Yeah, these are bootleg items."

Flim tried to avoid looking nervous, while saying, "That couldn't be true. We only sell official items."

The police officer looked like she had no patience, for the Flim-Flam brothers' lies. She sternly said, "You have a large fine, to pay for."

Flam sighed and replied, "Fine."

Discord put down the book and took back his money. He started leaving the store, while saying, "That place was more of a ripoff, than the library."

After Discord left the shop, he sighed and said, "I guess I should go home."

Suddenly, Discord heard somebody say, "Hold on, Discord." Discord turned around and saw Twilight Sparkle, who was sitting on a bench, along with Boulder. She said, "Please, sit down."

Discord replied, "Um, okay." He sat down and asked, "What's going on? Don't you want to forget me, after I acted like a fool?"

Twilight Sparkle said, "I admit you didn't handle the situation, very well. You did mock Starswirl and make a scene."

Discord replied, "Well, you didn't handle the situation, that greatly. You didn't even say goodbye. You just let me walk away."

Twilight Sparkle responded, "I figured you needed some air. Besides, I had to stay in the library, so I could get the books."

Discord sighed and said, "I know. You needed a copy, of that silly book."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "I wasn't just getting a copy, for myself." Twilight used her magical horn, to put a book in Discord's arms.

Discord looked surprised, while asking, "You bought a copy of the book, for me?"

Twilight Sparkle nodded and said, "Yes I did. Spending six-hundred dollars, on three books, isn't something I'd normally do, but I figured it'd be okay, since this is a special night."

Discord paused and said, "Three copies? You got one, for yourself and one, that's for me. Who did you give the 3rd book to?"

Twilight Sparkle answered, "Boulder."

Discord looked down and saw a copy of the book, that was next to Boulder. Discord said, "You spent two-hundred dollars, on a book, for a rock?"

Twilight Sparkle explained, "Well, I figured Maud wouldn't be happy, if Boulder was the only one, who didn't get a copy of the book. Like you said, we don't know if the rock is alive or not. Maybe he can read it."

Discord smirked, while saying, "If Boulder can't read it, you're probably going to feel like a fool."

Twilight Sparkle replying, "Calling somebody, who just bought you a two-hundred dollar item, a fool isn't a very wise decision."

Discord nervously smiled and said, "You're right about that, Twilight. I'm sorry, about that. I'm also sorry, for making a scene. I hope I didn't embarrass you, in front of Starswirl. I know you really like him."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "It's okay. However, I think you should apologize to him."

Discord asked, "You expect me to apologize, to the con-artist? He charged way too much. I want to give him a piece of my mind." Twilight gave Discord a disapproving look. Discord nervously chuckled and said, "I suppose I could give him an apology."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "I'm glad to hear that."

Discord looked at Twilight, who seemed calm and happy, despite everything that had happened. He said, "I gotta ask you something."

Twilight Sparkle asked, "What is it?"

Discord asked, "How come you've been so nice to me, lately? Normally, I'm lucky, when I find a pony, who can tolerate me. Sure, Fluttershy's always sweet and gentle, but she's like that, to everyone. How come you keep giving me second chances? After all, I keep messing up."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "It's true, that you have a lot to work on. However, you've also been making a lot of progress, recently. The others might not realize it, but I have. You haven't been as selfish or as sneaky, as you used to be. I believe you have a sweet side, deep down. I think the bond, that you and Fluttershy have, is proof, that you are sweet."

Discord raised an eyebrow and had an amused look on his face, while saying, "Sweet? Despite how smart you are, I'm afraid you don't know what you're talking about. I'm the least-sweet resident, that Ponyville has ever had."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "You can deny it, but I know the truth. You have a soft side. If you didn't, you wouldn't of bought me this soft coat and you wouldn't of saved my stuff, when Garble and Trixie tried to steal it."

Discord said, "Well, I might be nice, to you and Fluttershy, but nobody else."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "Then I guess I'll have to spend more time with you, so I can make your soft-side grow." Discord cringed. Twilight looked upset, while saying, "Is the thought, of spending more time with me, such a nasty notion?"

Discord responded, "That's not the reason, that I was cringing. It was the thought, of being a sweet guy, that made me cringe. That sounds dreadful. I would like to spend more time with you, Twilight."

Twilight Sparkle said, "I'm glad to hear that."

Discord replied, "Yeah right. I must be a pain, to deal with."

Twilight Sparkle said, "At times, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy being your friend."

Discord replied, "You know, you're a pretty-amazing pony."

Twilight Sparkle smiled and responded, "Thank you."

Discord replied, "You're welcome."

A few minutes later, Twilight Sparkle put Boulder in her bag and said, "I better drop off Boulder, at Maud's house. I'm going to start walking there."

Discord looked amused, while asking, "You're going to walk? What a waste of time. I can have us sent there, before you know it."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "That's true, but I like to enjoy the scenery."

Discord rolled his eyes and said, "That sounds like another way, to waste time."

Twilight Sparkle looked at the sky, before replying, "I don't know about that. The sky looks pretty beautiful, at night."

Discord said, "Well, have fun, with your scenery and that rock. Have a good one."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "You, too."

Twilight Sparkle started heading to Maud's house. She looked at the sky and admired how lovely it looked. She also waved to several ponies, who were nearby. Twilight opened her bag and looked at Boulder, while asking, "Are you really alive? If so, can't you give me a sign or something? I'll hurt Maud's feelings, if I act like you're not a living creature and if I keep talking to you, everybody will start thinking I'm crazy." Twilight leaned closer to Boulder, while hoping to hear Boulder say something. However, she didn't hear anything.

A while later, Twilight was close to Maud's house. Suddenly, Discord popped by and he was carrying a bouquet of flowers. He smiled, while saying, "Greetings, Twilight."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "Hi, Discord. What's going on?"

Discord carefully tucked the flowers into Twilight's bag, while saying, "These are for you. Since you bought me that overly-expensive book, I figured I owed you a favor. I know the flowers aren't nearly as expensive, as the book, but I hope you appreciate the sentiment."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "I do. Thank you, Discord." She looked at the flowers, which were red, pink and purple. She said, "They look lovely."

Discord said, "I better get going."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "Hold on. Aren't you going to give me a proper goodbye?"

Discord responded, "I suppose I should." Twilight Sparkle was expecting a hug, from Discord. However, he just said, "Goodbye, Twilight. Thank you, for the free book."

After Discord left, Twilight Sparkle looked down at Boulder and said, "That wasn't the best way, to say goodbye. However, it's no big deal. Discord just has a few things, that he needs to work on."

A few minutes later, Twilight Sparkle went to Maud's house and knocked on the door. Maud opened the door. Twilight gave Boulder to Maud, along with a copy of the Starswirl book. Twilight said, "I think Boulder had a nice time."

Maud Pie replied, "I'll ask him." She put Boulder close to her ear and started listening to him.

A moment later, Twilight Sparkle asked, "What did he say?"

Maud explained, "Boulder said he had a lot of fun. He also said, that you and Discord are cute, together."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "Um, okay. I appreciate the sentiment."

Maud put her hand on Twilight's shoulder, while saying, "Boulder and I both thank you, for the book."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "It was my pleasure."

Maud said, "Also, Boulder knows what he's talking about. If he thinks you and Discord are a cute duo, then you should keep visiting Discord."

Twilight Sparkle nervously laughed and replied, "I don't know, about Discord and me being cute, but I do enjoy seeing him. He can be a bit bothersome, at times, but I can tell he has a good heart."

Maud started listening to Boulder, again. After listening to him, Maud looked at Twilight and said, "Boulder would like to see you and Discord, again."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "Well, I'm sure that can be arranged. For now, we better focus on getting to sleep. Goodnight, Maud and Boulder." Twilight and Maud waved to each-other, before Twilight started heading back to her castle.

Maud looked at Boulder and continued listening to him. After listening to him, she said, "I agree with you, Boulder."
