What Feels Right

"Come on, buddy," Rick Castle murmurs, lowering his chin to keep from giving up the secret just yet. "Work with me, here. We're trying to be stealthy."

The bundle in his arm wriggles, oblivious to the directive.

Rick grins, accepting a slurpy kiss on the nose. "Yeah, I can't be mad at you, you're too cute for that."

He shifts his grip, pulling his companion closer to his chest and looking around to be sure he isn't about to be ratted out; the last thing he needs is someone alerting Beckett before he can get up to the fourth floor and make his case.

Not that he knows what he's going to say, he just knows this feels right. After seeing his partner brought almost to her knees by this last case, the innocence and love of a puppy might just be what she needs.

Prompt: Kate has a rough day. Castle buys her a puppy. Pre-relationship.
