The Girl who Lived

This is about Harry Potter's sister, raised by the Malfoys since she was little, not the Dursleys as Harry was. When she finally begins to go to school, she realizes she and Draco aren't the same and begins to develop doubts about who her real family is, must decide between the light and the dark, torn in the middle and stuck there.

2. Chapter 2

The Letter

It had been 10 years since Narcissa and Lucius had found the small black-haired girl on their front porch, and it had been 10 years since Jasmine Potter had become Jasmine Malfoy. The tiny baby had grown into a beautiful girl with long black hair and bright green eyes that sparkled with curiosity. She had a talent for Potions, as did Narcissa and Lilly. Keeping her identity wasn't hard, as her parents hadn't made any effort to take care of her. Their center of attention used to completely be Harry, her twin brother. She wasn't in any of the family pictures, she had no special clothes for herself, and the only sign that she used to live in the Potter house was herself, but now that she left, there would be no way for anyone to find out. Narcissa and Lucius, on the other hand, have been taking much better care of this intelligent girl and she had turned out as a smart, beautiful, and friendly girl. When Voldemort had tried to kill Harry the night Lilly and James died, he realized that the other one would turn out as a great person, one that could prove to be much more valuable to him. As he couldn't let her die, he let go of some of his magic, transferring it to Jasmine. Once he had done this, he promised to always protect the small girl and muttered a magical ritual that would ensure her protection. After he had taken care of her, he turned towards Harry. He looked into Voldemort's eyes, smiling and waving his hands. Voldemort attempted to kill him, but the recent transfer of magic weakened him greatly, and he was only able to leave a small scar on Harry's forehead, and nothing else. Voldemort then disappeared into hiding, not emerging ever again for the next few years.

Jasmine had just been eating her breakfast with her brother and best friend, Draco when she saw two gray owls flying towards their house. Both of them looked at each other, then immediately jumped up from their seats, competing to see who could get outside first. Arriving in front of the window at the same exact time, they both caught their respective letters and ran back inside, smiling widely. Jasmine ripped it open, not caring about the carefully placed seal on it, but rather just ripping it on its side. Her letter read,

Dear Ms. Malfoy,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. The term begins on September 1st. We await your owl no later than July 31st.

Thrilled by the news, Jasmine called her mother to the front door. She came and Jasmine showed the letter to her mum.

"Well then, we can set off to Diagon Alley, shall we?" Asked Narcissa, smiling at the excitement of the two kids.

"YES!" shouted out Draco and Jasmine, and they set off to Diagon Alley to get their supplies.

Diagon Alley

Both kids were walking with their mother to different shops. Jasmine, reading off a paper what supplies they need.

"It says here that we need a…" said Jasmine. Draco, being the impatient boy he was, ripped the paper out of her hand and just gave it to his mother, smirking at Jasmine proudly.

"You little bastard," she muttered under her breath, looking annoyed.

"Love you too sis," Draco said, slinging an arm around Jasmine's shoulders before she crouched down to free herself from his embrace.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Uniform

First Years will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (Black)

2. One plain pointed hat (Black) for day wear

3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)

4. One winter cloak (Black, Silver fastenings)

"Where shall we go next Mother?" asked Jasmine.

"How about Madame Malkin's for robe fittings, then Ollivander's, the Apothecary, Flourish and Blotts, and the Owl Emporium last?" answered Narcissa looking at the paper as she spoke.

"That would be good, as long as I get the things I need," said Draco anxiously. They then set off to the robe shop. They went in and saw the stout witch frantically sewing three robes at the same time using wandless magic.

As she saw people, she broke the spell, causing them to fall limply onto the floor, and cried out, "Which one of you is going to go first? Get on the stool, what are you waiting for?" She was busying herself by humming to herself while measuring Jasmine. Another young boy about their age came in. He was in a pair of baggy pants and an oversized t-shirt. He had on thick glasses that were broken and cracked. His hair was black and long as if his mother had forgotten to cut it for a year. It stuck up at the back and was very messy. He looked slightly confused but amazed at the same time, his bright green eyes filled with wonder. Draco started chatting with the boy. The boy seemed to get more uncomfortable by the second. Soon he looked almost pale and Jasmine cut off Draco who was talking about how it would be terrible to get into Hufflepuff, one of the four houses at Hogwarts. She did agree but that didn't give him the right to trash talk the house.

"Shut up Draco." She snapped. She smiled warmly at the thin boy.

" Hello, I'm Jasmine, this is Draco. Malfoy is our surname." She said.

"Nice to meet you. We hope you'll be with us in Slytherin. It is really the best house. Of course, since we are Malfoys I expect both of us to be in Slytherin." boasted Draco. Jasmine slightly blushed and elbowed Draco in the ribs.

He asked," Forgive me for asking but, what is Slytherin?" Draco was about to speak but Jasmine quickly clamped her hand to his mouth. "Slytherin is one of the four houses at Hogwarts. Houses are the different groups you will be sorted in. You will always stay with your House. You will eat at the same table as them, sleep in the same house, or dormitory as them, and have classes with those in your grade, also if you decide to play Quidditch, your team is made up of people from your house. The different Houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, named after the four founders of Hogwarts. You are sorted into each house by a hat called the sorting hat that they place on your head. It can basically read your mind. It will call out your house at the beginning of your journey at Hogwarts. At the start of the first year, basically. She explained.

He looked much more comfortable now that he knew some things. "What is Quidditch?" he asked, pondering even more.

"Blimey! Are you muggle-born or something?" Draco cried out in amazement at the lack of his wizarding knowledge.

Jasmine now spoke again, ignoring Draco. " Quidditch is a magical sport. You fly on a broomstick and basically catch and throw balls. There are seven players on each team. One of them is usually the captain and at Hogwarts, inconveniently the coach too. There's a book, it's called Hogwarts: A history and should explain anything you have questions about," she explained hopping off the stool as Madame Malkin was finished.

"Thank you so much. And to answer your brother's question, I am a Half-Blood, not a Muggle-Born. My parents died when I was really young and I have been living with the cruelest, nonmagic muggles ever since. But, I don't blame you, I know about as much magic as any Muggle-Born," he said frowning as he looked at Draco.

"Sorry about that, it's a pleasure to meet you," Draco said, half grinning, half scowling at Jasmine. Draco and Jasmine finished going to all of the stores that they needed to go to and got all of their supplies. When they went to the pet store, Draco chose an eagle owl, and Jasmine was happy with her own Snowy Owl that she thought was absolutely beautiful. After they went back to the Malfoy Manor, they immediately packed all of their things, ready to go to Hogwarts, even though it started 5 days later.

Hey! I hope you liked this chapter, it was definitely longer than the last one :|. Also, please tell me if I'm going too slow, too fast, if the plot is unclear, etc. I would love any sort of review, anything that will help me grow as a writer. A little reminder: This is just a very old version, and although I try to fix as much as I can, I tend to overlook some mistakes sometimes. If I have left anything that doesn't fit with the rest of the story or anything, let me know, I'd love to fix it. Also, sorry that it's going a bit slow, I'll try to speed it up, I just want the characters to be as well introduced as I can make them be. Thank you!
