Back with another chapter. Wow I cannot believe I got this done.
Chapter One
"Though he earned 0 rescue points Bakugou still placed 1st!! Wow!"
"He targeted the one point and two point villain bots, approaching them slowly, and continuously intercepted them to lure them into a flashy explosion blast once they'd gotten weaker during the second half of the exam, that kid's as tough as they come." The screen showed a boy with a crazed look in his eyes, spiky yellow hair and explosions seemingly manifesting on his palms.
"At the other end of the spectrum, we have the kid who ranked 7th even without villain points. We've had entrants face off against that thing in the past, but it's been quite some time since someone's sent it flying like that." The screen now showed a boy with green curly hair, a scared expression and a very average aura to him.
"And we have 2nd place. 56 Villain points and 67 hero points. A total score of 123. Yes it's higher than 1st place, but the incident with the malfunctioning zero pointer technically doesn't count. Since we had stopped the exam right as the zero point appeared, he doesn't receive any points from there on. Meaning Keith Mason places 2nd with 56 points. But we have to hand it to him, using his intellect and impressive agility and speed to adapt to the situation and rescue many lives. It's a shame that he wasn't in first place." A boy with black unruly hair dyed with blue streaks, coupled with slightly glowing turquoise eyes looked at them from the screen.
The person on the screen was currently walking down a long corridor, searching for his new classroom.
"Only 38 passed, so 19 students for a class." Keith muttered under his breath. "Two classes. UA really has made their standards higher."
A kid with green curly hair rushed past him, and Spectre heard a brief "1-A where's 1-A?" before he ran down the corridor and disappeared. He looked at his wrist, and a watch appeared from underneath his skin. There was only two minutes left for class. "Shit," he too rushed down the corridor and turned the corner, before seeing the kid from before standing at the doorway. "Hey what's the holdup?" He asked.
The green haired boy, and another boy wearing glasses with blue hair turned to face him. "You're that kid!" Keith turned towards the voice, to face that explosion Quirk kid from the exam. Before Keith could even think about responding, the spectacled teen started talking. "Ah! Spectre, the teen that stopped the malfunctioning zero point! I am Tenya Iida from Soumei and I am very thankful that you averted a crisis on your own and saved the other examiner's lives." Iida offered him a handshake.
"You can call me Keith Mason," Briefly he realized that his name didn't sound Japanese, and that would arouse more questions, so he quickly added "I'm not from Japan, I moved here from America. And thanks." Keith accepted the handshake.
It was then that Keith noticed the looks of amazement and admiration that he recieved from his other classmates. "Hi, I am Midoriya Izuku." The green haired one from before said. "You're that kid, the one who took down the zero point with a single punch." Keith had watched the footage of everyone that had passed, just so he could prepare himself more or less for what's about to come. And to say that he wasn't remotely surprised at Midoriya's feat would be a complete lie.
Keith picked up the sounds of someone approaching, and decided to move to his seat before any conversation could begin.
A brown haired girl entered. Keith Instantly recognised her as Uraraka Ochaco, the girl that had saved Midoriya from ending up as a pancake. And that was another thing that came to his mind. Why did Midoriya end up very badly injured? It was his Quirk so he should've built some sort of immunity to it.
"Ah the curly haired one!" She exclaimed, causing Midoriya to blush. As they conversed some more, Bakugou turned around to face Keith whom sat behind behind him. "You may have defeated the zero point, but you're still in second place! So don't get too cocky unless you want me to blow your ass back to America." Bakugou's warning didn't trigger a reaction from the teenager at all, it looked as if he wasn't listening. "HEY I'M TALKING TO YOU!"
"I heard what you said. And I'd like to see you try." Keith responded nonchalantly, and went back to staring at nothing. At least, that's what it seemed to any other person. What he was actually doing was using his DNI's Tactical Mode, quickly and effectively storing information about his classmates for later. He already knew that UA would make their students fight each other for educational purposes.
"If you're gonna be hunting for buddies do it elsewhere." The voice sounded tired and vacant of emotion. Everyone present had their attention fixated behind Uraraka, where a yellow sleeping bag containing a man was.
"This is the department of heroics." He said while taking out a juice pouch (is that even a thing?) and drank the contents within seconds.
Everyone remained silent as he slowly got up, his shoulder length black hair and tired face somehow made everyone doubt this probably crazy man was a pro hero. He unzipped the sleeping bag and regarded the class with a vacant look before saying: "It took you lot 8 seconds to quiet down."
"Life is short, kids. You're lacking all common sense." At this moment a thought flashed by everyone's minds. Sensei?!
"So he must be a pro hero too huh...?" Midoriya stated.
"I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta, pleasure meeting you."
Our homeroom teacher is Eraserhead? Keith had used Tactical Mode to search the internet for whoever this man is. And he wasn't at all taken aback when the Underground Hero, EraserHead appeared on his HUD.
Mom did mention him a few times. But this is the first time I met him in person. Keith grabbed his sports uniform which was handed to him by Aizawa. "I've got a bad feeling about this." He heard someone whisper. Keith didn't necessarily feel too bothered about it, but there was something about the way Aizawa had looked at them before he left.
"A Quirk Apprehension Test?"
"You all understand the school's reputation for freedom on campus." Aizawa said, staring at them from the corner of his eye. "Well that 'freedom' goes to us Sensei's as well. Softball Pitch, Standing Long Jump, 50 Meter Dash, Endurance Running, Sustained Sideways Jumps, Upper Body Exercises, Seated Toe-Touch. These are all you know from Middle School, naturally."
He turned towards them and continued. "Physical tests that you were barred from using your Quirks. The country still hasn't gotten around to standardising those sorts of records or keeping track of average performance levels. Well, that's negligible of Mext." (Mext is the Ministry Of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology).
Aizawa focused on Bakugou. "Bakugou, how far could you pitch a softball in middle school?" To which Bakugou answered with "67 meters."
"Try using your Quirk this time around," Bakugou took the softball from Aizawa and stepped into the circle facing the Softball Pitching area. "Anything you do is fine, as long as you don't exit the circle."
Bakugou started stretching, readying himself and with a quick "Don't hold back." from Aizawa he threw his arm forward and yelled "DIIIIEE!"
Immediately after, there was an explosion and a shockwave, followed by the ball flying upwards.
"Before anything else, one must know what they're capable of." Aizawa showed them his phone, which contained the distance travelled by the ball. It was a whopping 705.2 metres.
"This is a rational metric that will form the basis of your 'Hero Foundation'."
Everyone started chattering amongst themselves, some in shock of what Bakugou had achieved while others commented how fun it was.
"It looks fun you say?" The atmosphere had changed, as their teacher looked down at his palm, a shadow covering his eyes. "So you were planning to spend your three years here having a good ol' time? What happened to becoming heroes?"
Keith felt his classmates get nervous, as Aizawa regarded them all with a serious gaze. "All right then. In that case, New Rule: The student who scores the least will he judged hopeless, and will be instantly expelled."
There was an uproar amongst the students as Aizawa moved his hair out of his face and looked at them sadistically. "Our 'freedom' means we can dispense with as we please. Welcome to this
The Department Of Heroes."
Another chapter. Things are getting juicy. Now if y'all want answers about Spectre or Keith's Quirk, I'll upload a chapter with his information. But keep in mind that those will be the basics of what he can do. After all, we haven't even reached the first season's crescendo. So hopefully I'll get the chapter up soon.
