A/N Hi, as you probably guessed, decided to start this story over because I started to feel uncomfortable with the heavy degradation of character that I love so much. I thought at first it would be more realistic but re-reading, i felt uncomfortable. I will be making changes. I love you guys. Thank you for understanding.
Oliver POV
I woke up with my shoulder still really hurting and irritating sound of a bird chirping. I couldn't sit up but I craned my neck. I saw somebody, not Laurel. He was wearing a green hood. "Where- ut-huh- where is my girlfriend?" I asked in fear.
The man turned around. "I do not know" he answered. My heart shuddered. If this man was on this island, there was no way for me to know if others were here too, what kind of danger Laurel could be facing on her own. "Forget her and you will survive" the man said.
"Who else is on this island?" I persisted, "And who are you?"
"Yao Fei" he said.
"Yao Fei" I repeated. "What do you want with me?"
"I want you to survive" Yao Fei told me.
"I need to find Laurel" I argued.
"You need to eat" Yao Fei said.
"Yeah, well I don't see a 24 hour diner here in-"
Yao Fei cut me off. "Purgatory". I only answered him with an ambiguous stare. "This island is called Lian Yu, mean "Purgatory" in Chinese. You and that girl have very unfortunate luck"
"W- why do they call this place Purgatory?" I stammered.
"Well, you and I aren't dead, but we might as well be" Yoa Fei said and he took a long pause. "That girl you arrived with will hinder your chances of survival ao forget her".
"Not a chance" I growled.
Yao Fie pointed at bird that in a cage. "We will discuss this later. For now, kill and eat that bird".
"No" I said. "I don't want to".
"You will want to eventually" Yao Fei said.
Laurel's POV
I woke up and found myself in an iron-barred cage. There was dirt and blood all over all of my visible skin. Despite that, I was grateful that the little clothing I had on had dried.
An American man in uniform approached my cage and he just smiled at me. "H-hi" I coughed. I had no memory of how I had gotten into this cage.
The man didn't say anything and after a couple of seconds, he passed me a bowl of water and rag through the bars. I imeadiately sipped some water from the bowl. The water wasn't clean or cold. The American man struck my face with an iron whip, breaking my cheekbone.
"Wash yourself" the stranger yelled at me. "You are too dirty to see Mr. Fyers".
I nodded and began run the wet rag over my arms and watch the filth drip away. I looked up to ask the man who Mr. Fyers was, but he had walked away and I saw ythat he was talking with other men dressed in the same uniforms.
After what felt like forever, four other men came to my cage and unlocked it. "Come with us" one of the men said. He was American. Tall with dark hair and green eyes.
The men surrounded me as walked. All of the uniformed men throughout this camp were staring as they finally let me in to a medium sized tent were dressed in all black with light brown hair and pale blue eyes. I smiled at him, hoping that if I made a good impression on him., he would help me find Oliver and call the American embessy.
"What you name, doll?" The man asked.
"I'm Laurel" I said.
"Nice to meet you. You look cold and hungry" He said in response.
"I am, Mr.- Fyers?" I said.
"Yes, Mr. Fyers. Edward Fyers. I might even let you call me, Eddie, seeing as if I grow to appreciate you company" Edward said. "She's hungry. Get her something to eat" he barked at one of his men. "Laurel, how did you get to Purgatory?" I didn't know how to answer that question. Purgatory? Purgatory is a realm in which the recently deceased go... Edward smiled. "You are on island which's Chinese name translates to Purgatory"
"Oh yeah... my boyfriend and I were shipwrecked" I answered.
"Your boyfriend" Edward said, sharing a glance with one of his men and then back at me, his smile widening.
"Yes, I was hoping that maybe you could help me find him and call the American embessy" I said.
"Yes, Laurel, of course I will call the American embessy" Fyers replied. "But my men and I, we have not enjoyed the company of woman in longer than any of us can remember".
I breathed hard. "E-" my voice was silenced when Edward shoved his fingers in my mouth. One of his men came from behind and remove my robe.
"You will do anything to get home, right?" Edward said. Tears stung at my eyes. "Right?"
I nodded. I closed my eyes. Oliver was okay. I believe Oliver is okay and I will get through this.
Oliver POV
I stood back and Yoa Fei's arrow fly through the air and impale a rabbit. "When do I get to try using that thing?" I asked.
It had been three days since I had met Yao Fei- I think. I had gotten so hungry that I had actually killed that bird. I snapped it neck and Yao Fei cooked and let me haver the whole thing.
"Very soon, I will teach you, Oliver" Yao Fei said. Cool. He was warming up to me. "Go get that rabbit" Yao Fei demanded and I broke into a light jog. I bent down, curling my fist around the arrow sticking out of the rabbit. I stood up, only to be clocked in the face and pass out.
I woke up face to face with a strange man and my wrists had uncomfortable cuffs around them, keeping my arms in the air. "What the fuck?" I mumbled. I had no idea where I was, or how far I was from Yoa Fei's camp. I didn't know if this was Yao Fei's fault.
"So, boy, you shippwrecked?" The stranger asked.
"Yeah" I said. "So why do you have me in these cuffs?"
"You will know that as soon as you answer some questions. My name is Edward Fyers. I have been on this island for a long time and like you, I want to go home. But before I can go home, I have I have a task that I need to complete for money" Edward explained.
I shook my head. "Okay" I said.
"I could use your help, boy. See I can tell you've been here, on Lian Yu a while. You seen this man?" Fyers asked me and held a photo of Yao Fei in my face.
"No" I said. I didn't trust Fyers.
"Are you sure?" he snickered. "I'm going to give you the opportunity to change your answer".
"I haven't seen him" I answered tensely. "I have no idea who he is".
"Wintergreen, get in here. I need your help" Fyers called.
A heavy-footed, masked man bounded in at Fyer's beck and call. "This young man has information that he is choosing to keep to himself and I need you to extract it for me" Fyer's explained and the masked man revealed that he had been long metal blade behind his back.
I tried very hard not to appear scared. "You know the man in the picture. His name is Yao Fei Gulong. He is dangerous" Fyers spat.
"I don't know him" I said, my eyes narrowing. Wintergreen slashed me right across my chest which hurt a lot more than I thought it was going too. Still, I heard the tears.
"The next slash wiil be worse" Wintergreen warned from behind his mask.
"I don't care" I spat back. "I don't have any information about Yao-n Yao Fei?"
"I'm not buying it" Fyers said and gave a look to Wintergreen. Wintergreen sword ran all the way through my hand and than through my arm. Then he slashed my shoulder.
Wintergreen more time mutilating me. From my hips to shoulder, I covered in bleeding slash and stab wounds. I also had some on my face. I fought my body's urge to pass out.
Edward Fyers looked bored and said to one of his men: "Go get Ms. Lance" I glared at him. "Oh Ms. Lance, yes, I figured you were she got wrecked here with" he said with a sinister smile.
"You better not have touched her" I warned angrily.
"And if I did, what could you could you even about it?" Fyers asked.
Laurel's POV
A man that I insantly recognized (the man who shot Oliver) approached my holding cell. His hood wasn't a very good disguise. My body froze with fear. "Where's Oliver?"
"Come with me" The man said.
"Where is he?" I demanded.
.
"If you come with me, then you will know that Oliver is safe" The man said. He could tell that I didn't trust him. "My name is Yao Fei Gulong" We both heard yells coming from one of tents on the campsite.
"Ollie" I shouted.
Oliver's POV
"Are you ready to tell me the truth?" Fyers asked
"Go to hell" I growled.
Suddenly, one of Fyer's men was hit in the shoulder with a wooden arrow. Laurel and Yao Fei entered the tent and I watched-eyed as Yoa Fei fought and won. Yao Fei grab hacked and cut away at the rest of Fyer's men while Laurel tried to free me.
Laurel's POV
Edward grabbed me by the back of my hair, throwing he on the ground. He kicked me in my face repeatedly until I couldn't even feel the pain anymore. Suddenly, Yao Fei tossed Fyer's off of me and I saw that he had freed Oliver and with me leaning on Ollie and Ollie leaning on Yao Fei, the three of us escaped the camp.
Yao tossed Oliver into my arms when we entered the cave the two of them had been staying in. He put his over his head. "I am going" he said.
"Where?" I cried.
"Fyer's men have followed. I will lead them away from our hideout" Yao Fei said.
"We should go with him" Oliver mumbled.
"No" Yao Fei shouted, stepping outside the cave. "Survive".
