"Um, so I would prefer not to be called Storyshift!Chara for the rest of my life, so how about we think of names for ourselves?" Storyshift!Chara suggested.
"Since I'm the OG, I'll be Chara," Chara said. Everyone reluctantly agreed.
"I'll be swap," Underswap!Chara suggested.
"No, be creative! Hee hee hee!" Storyswap!Chara said. "Oooh! I'll be Leia! Since my bandana is yellow, it took yell. I flipped yell around and it sounds like Leia! Call me Leia from now on, hee hee hee!"
"Okay, Leia," Underswap!Chara said.
"Hey, I got an idea. It's weird as hell, like Leia's, but I like it. I think you can call me Sage. I'm wearin' a gas mask. If you flip gas, it's the first part of Sage. Damn, I'm good!" Shiftfell!Chara said.
"Pffft! What type of a name is Sage! Hahaha!" Storyswapfell!Chara said.
"Well, what's your name?" Fellswap!Chara said in the most passive aggressive tone ever.
"Uh..." Storyswapfell!Chara thought for a moment. "I'll be Brittany. I heard that name somewhere on the surface, and I like it. Call me Brittany!"
"I'll be... Vedli? I think that means something in some other language, but I like the name. It reminds me of what people called my fighting style. 'Devilish'. Yeah, call me Vedli," Storyshift!Chara said.
"I'll be Ari. I like the name," Swapfell!Chara said. It reminded her of something, but she couldn't remember what. It was so annoying that she couldn't remember.
"I'll be Kara. It sounds like Chara, so I'm fine with it," Underswap!Chara said. Everyone was content.
"Alright, I'm Chara. Yellow bandanna, you're Leia? Gas mask, you're Sage? Half-shirt, you're Brittany? Ripped-up rainbow bandanna, you're Vedli? Leash choker, you're Ari? Depressed me, you're Kara?" Chara said.
Everyone nodded somewhat happily. Everyone worked on engraving their new names into their heads. They sat for around an hour in the same room. Suddenly, Error!Chara appeared with someone new. They looked rather normal.
"Heya, I'm Danceshift!Chara, apparently. Who are you all?" they said as Error!Chara quickly disappeared.
"My name is Chara," Chara said.
"My name was Chara, but now it's Kara," Kara said.
"We got better new names, like Ari," Ari said.
"I'm Sage. If you start dancing, I'll kill you," Sage said. Danceshift!Chara looked genuinely scared by this comment.
"I'm the best here, and I'm Brittany now!" Brittany said.
"I'm Leia, and I'll be your friend, partner!" Leia said.
"My name is Vedli, welcome to the Chara group. All of us were Chara, but apparently the Chara who introduced herself as Chara is the real Chara and we're all copies made by these Ink people. The Error people are apparently trying to abduct all of us. We all chose new names because Danceshift!Chara doesn't exactly roll off the tongue," Vedli said.
"Okay...? I guess you can call me, uh, Martha? I know that there's a famous dancer named Martha somewhere," Danceshift!Chara said.
"Alright. Hello, Martha," Kara said. Then there were eight abducted Charas.
