Baby Cry

Chapter 2: Strange Companions

Rated: T

Summary: Samus crash lands on a planet she never heard about, populated with strange animals, and even stranger people.

"Ash! Come over here my boy!" The old man shouted. It appeared as if the boy was going to come over regardless, Samus wondered if the old man realized that fact or not. Either way she now knew a name for the youth...Ash.

"What is it professor?" The boy's voice was somewhat higher than she expected, then again she didn't see too many people his age, which she guessed to be somewhere between ten and thirteen. His blue eyes almost popped in contrast to his raven colored hair. His skin tone was almost the same to hers.

"This is Samus, she seems a bit confused, tell me, you haven't seen a spaceship laying around have you?" The old man turned to face Ash, leaving his back to Samus. She wanted to blast him for that 'confused' comment. She has done worse over less. However, for the moment, she needs both of them to get back to her ship and get back in her suit.

"No professor, I haven't seen anything like that around, but people are talking about a strange meteor falling in Victory Road and small fragments of something landing across the region. Maybe they are connected?" Ash explains with an energy as if he found the meaning of life itself, again, Samus thought it strange to be so energetic about some...wait.

"What did you say boy?" Samus asked "Strange fragments? What do they look like?" They could be parts of her ship...or worse, her suit. She hoped it was some extra components of her ship, at least she could fix that easier than her suit.

"My name is Ash! and I never saw them myself all I know is the gym leader at Pedelburg says it looks like a helmet of some kind."

Samus' heart sank at the news. Her suit...her suit made by the people that raised her, scattered across god knows how much space. She has to collect them and at least try to fix it. If not for her own sanity then for everyone else's protection. That suit contains technology at least 20,000 years ahead of this planet. In the wrong hands it can destabilize this world!

"That 'meteor' and the 'strange fragments' both belong to me! How far is this...Flowerburg you called it?" Samus grabbed Ash by the shoulder and tried to put all her urgency into her eyes.

"It's Pedleburg, not Flowerburg and it's about two towns north of here, on the other side of the forest. You can come with me, I'm starting my pokemon adventure tomorrow!" Samus couldn't wait but the knowledge the boy possessed could be helpful. At the very least he knows the area. She has nothing, outside of a body suit and a stun gun.

"Ok, tomorrow it is then. Until then I need a place to rest." She made a, hopefully obvious, hint. She is more than capable of sleeping outside, but, why not try to charm some space from one of the guys? To that end she did something she doesn't do often, She tried to appear helpless, given her body suit doesn't leave a lot to the imagination, it shouldn't be hard.

"Why don't you stay at my lab, that way you can get a feel for pokemon and maybe make a friend to join you on your own journey Samus? After all, it's not safe in tall grass. Wild pokemon roam in tall grass" the professor suggested. "Ash already has Pikachu, it's only fitting you have someone."

Well that was easy... however 'wild pokemon' should be afraid of her, not the other way around, but why not play their game. A little buddy might...

Baby

The little metroid that died protecting her. The memory of seeing him explode still haunts her sleep. Now they want her to take responsibility for another life. One just as fragile as Baby's... a tear threatened to fall from her right eye. She wiped it away before it could.

"Yea, I could use it, thanks." She choked back her sadness like she was trained to, but it still seeped through. "Please, show me the way to your lab, I need rest." She turned away from the guys.

"T...this way, Samus." Oak leads her to this large building nearby, apparently this little town was so small, the term 'large' was relative. But it didn't matter at this point, she wasn't on this strange planet, she was back fighting Mother Brain. Seeing Baby's last moments over and over again. Can she be responsible for another life? Most days she fights in areas that would kill even the best trained marines of the Federation, and she damn near died at least a hundred times. But that was different, that was her life, nobody else's. Will she kill this pokemon like how she couldn't help Baby?

Author's note: I was going to keep going, but why rush? For those interested, a X rated scene takes place in between Chapters 2 and 3. That will be uploaded (if not already uploaded) by the end of the week, Gods willing. For sure before Chapter 3. Sadly, that means Chapter 3 will not be coming out for a few days. Sorry for those not interested in smut.

Enjoy!
