Kristoff spent the next morning in the stables taking care of Sven. He was just about to cover the floor with some hay for him when he heard someone clearing his throat behind him. He swirled around and saw Elsa standing in the doorway.

"Elsa! Hi!"

"Hey, Kristoff." Elsa smiled mildly. "Kristoff... I... need to talk to you about something."

She didn't seem comfortable at all. Kristoff scratched his head and tried to sound clueless.

"Eh… sure! What's the matter?"

He threw the rest of the hay on the floor and Sven started to eat it eagerly.

Elsa entered the stable with a few timid steps.

"Kristoff… about yesterday… you remember what we've been talking about before dinner?"

Kristoff wasn't really sure where this conversation would go so he only nodded and stared at Elsa expectantly.

"I just wanted to tell you, Kristoff… that I'm totally fine with Anna and you spending time together. You know that I completely approve of this relationship… and I also don't have a problem with Anna and you sharing a room."

She inhaled.

"But..."

She put her hands behind her back, straightened her shoulders and raised her chin.

"But it is absolutely out of question that Anna mustn't get pregnant before she is married.", she said with a strict voice.

Kristoff's eyes widened and he stared at her with his mouth opened. He would've never expected her to address this issue as openly as she just had. She wasn't the type of person talking about stuff like this. After all, she was still a pretty reserved person. And prudish, too. And Kristoff didn't judge her because of that as he himself was quite prudish, too. Which was the reason why he now blushed. He didn't want to talk to Elsa about this topic.

"Uh… Elsa...I..." He laughed nervously.

"I'm sorry I have to address this issue, Kristoff. But I think it is necessary. Since I found out about your new… living arrangements yesterday..."

She straightened her shoulders again.

"Kristoff, Anna mustn't get pregnant before marriage."

Kristoff stared at her. Sven had stopped eating his hay and stared at her, too.

Elsa inhaled. "It is one thing for the two of you being a couple and both living in this castle. Even though we both know that this is not how it usually works in a princess' life. But by now everyone in the castle accepts this and is used to it which I am very grateful for. Still, it would be a whole other thing for a princess to get pregnant by a member of staff in the castle which you are, strictly speaking. Of course, in reality, you are much more than that!", she quickly added. "But technically..."

"Elsa, Elsa!", Kristoff interrupted her. "Believe me, I get it. And… you can also believe me when I tell you that I'm aware of all of this! Believe me, I know! And I would never… do… anything… I mean, I would never let this happen."

Elsa gave him a surprised look. "Really? I… I mean… really?"

"Yes.", Kristoff answered emphatically. "You don't have to worry… we may live in the same room now but..."

He scratched his head again.

"But nothing happens." He looked at her.

Elsa blinked. "Really?", she asked with a surprised voice.

"Yes. It's because I'm totally aware of the reactions there would be. And I would never do anything to harm Anna. It's just that..."

He paused and looked at Elsa for a moment, then he sighed and sat down on a small haystack.

"It's just that… Anna doesn't think that way. She doesn't accept that we do have to wait."

"I knew it! She is so unreasonable!", Elsa exclaimed with some anger in her voice. "As a matter of fact this is why I came to talk to you! You are much more reasonable and responsible than my sister could ever be!"

Kristoff scratched his head again and laughed a bit. "Yeah, that might be true, Elsa. Nevertheless… I do have to admit..."

He watched her closely.

"I do have to admit that I would wish for us to be able to get… closer, too. It's not like it's easy for me to avert her… advances."

Elsa pressed her lips together and seemed a bit abashed again. Kristoff quickly continued.

"And I know that one day I will definitely propose to her. Definitely!", he said with a smile. "But it's way too early for that. So… nothing we can do about it."

He shrugged. Suddenly Elsa seemed to ponder.

"But… Elsa?", he tried to get her attention again.

She looked at him again. "Yeah?"

Kristoff inhaled. "Thank you for coming here and talking to me about it. I appreciate how much you worry about Anna. I always have. But you can trust me. I would never do anything that could have negative consequences for her."

Elsa's face lit up. "No, it's me who has to be thankful. I appreciate how much you care about my sister. And how you would always put her well-being before your own needs. But maybe you're wrong."

Kristoff frowned. "Um… sorry?", he asked with confusion.

"Maybe there is something we can do about it…", she answered contemplatively.

Suddenly they heard Kai calling her in the distance.

"Queen Elsa? Your majesty?"

Elsa looked over her shoulder.

"I have to go, Kristoff! Thank you for being so open with me!", she quickly said.

She swirled around and left the stable swiftly.

Kristoff and Sven watched her rush over the courtyard with a confused look on their faces.
