After Ash and Eevee had gotten back home, they saw Delia outside of the house, holding a backpack that looked mostly full.
"Hi Ash! While you were grabbing your pokémon, I got your backpack packed for you!
"Thanks Mom!" Ash replied as he opened the backpack to see what was inside. He found two pokéballs that were black with red and gold embellishments, 5 standard red and white pokéballs, 4 sets of clothes, a sleeping bag, and some packaged food.
"You're very welcome!" Delia exclaimed. "Just make sure you don't get into too much trouble, and change your underwear everyday!"
Ash blushed. "Mo-om!"
"Bye! Love you! Don't forget to call me when you can!"
Ash and Eevee headed off, taking the first steps on their journey to become a Pokémon Master.
Ash and Eevee set out toward Viridian City, having to pass through Route 1. Overall, Route 1 was a nice route to walk, with the plentiful trees, tall grass, vibrant bushes, and the wild pokémon, like Pidgey, Caterpie, Rattata, and Ledyba.
"Well, we're finally here, aren't we. Setting off on our pokémon journey." Ash stated.
"Vee eevee vui!" Eevee replied, enthusiastically.
"First off: let's scan you to see what moves you have."
Ash opened his pokédex, pointed it at Eevee, pressed a button, and received a list of information.
Species: Eevee
Type: PNormal
Number: 133
Nature: Impish (+Def, -SpA)
Ability: Adaptability
Moves: Tackle, Quick Attack, Sand-Attack, Swift, Bite, Iron Tail (Egg)
"Hmm… I wonder what the P means. Well, those are some pretty good moves! Especially Iron Tail. Next up for you will probably be Take Down, and some elemental moves - maybe the fang moves. I'll need more than just you, though. What pokémon to catch here? Maybe a Pidgey? It would be nice to get a Pidgeot, both in terms of moveset, and transportation. Flying would be pretty cool. A Butterfree would also be nice. We'll see." Ash thought out loud while walking.
Then, he saw it. At first glance, it would appear to be a regular Pidgey, but Ash saw the vibrant colouring and the above-average strength of the gust, which was demonstrated on a Ledyba. The Ledyba went spiralling into the ground, unable to react quickly enough to the sudden strong wind force.
"Hi Pidgey, I have an offer for you. If you come with me as my pokémon and friend, I'll make sure you become the strongest Pidgeot ever! You'll have challenging battles, a steady supply of food, and me and Eevee as friends. Are you interested?" Ash declared.
Pidgey was interested. Getting stronger, food, and friends? What was there to not like? She'd have to be crazy to not accept. She flew down from the tree, and stared at him right in the eyes, giving him a look almost like she wanted to battle. Maybe as if this was to test the strength of Ash.
"Do you want a battle?" Ash requested.
The Pidgey tried her best to nod.
"Alright then!" Ash exclaimed. "Let's do this!"
Ash sent out Eevee, to battle against Pidgey.
"First, use Sand-Attack!"
"Eevui!"
Eevee used her paws to fling sand in the air, to reduce Pidgey's accuracy, trying to reduce the chance of getting hit by Pidgey. Pidgey retaliated with a Gust, blowing the sand into Eevee and clearing the sand from the air.
"Alright then, use Swift!"
Eevee created a set of white shurikens, before releasing them. They flew at Pidgey, and hit their mark. Pidgey used Wing Attack, but while approaching Eevee, Ash saw their chance.
"Eevee! Iron Tail!"
As Pidgey got closer, Eevee's tail started to shine. It turned into iron, and Eevee flipped herself forward, almost knocking out Pidgey, just before the Wing Attack. Pidgey stopped her attack and walked up to the pokéball, before pecking the button with her beak. The ball sucked her in, shook once or twice, and dinged. Successful capture.
"Whoo hoo! Our first capture!" Ash exclaimed.
"Eevee vee vui!"
Together, they headed off towards Viridian City.
Viridian City. Home to the 8th gym in Kanto, the city connected to the Indigo League, and Ash's first stop on his journey. Also, importantly for him, one of the places you can find a Pokécenter.
"Hello Nurse Joy! Could you heal my pokémon?" Ash requested.
"Certainly! If I could just have your pokéballs?" The nurse asked.
Ash handed his two pokéballs to the nurse, who placed them in the PRM. She pressed one of the buttons, and a few seconds later, was giving the pokéballs back to Ash.
"Thanks, Nurse Joy!" Ash gratefully said.
"No problem. Hope to see you later!"
Ash walked out of the pokécenter. After taking a quick look at the gym, which was only accepting challengers with 7 badges, Ash followed the path to Viridian Forest.
"Alright, let's scan you now," Ash said to Pidgey.
Ash took the pokédex, pointed it at Pidgey, and pressed a button.

Nature: Bold (+Def, -Att)
Abilities: Keen Eye, Tangled Feet
Moves: Tackle, Sand Attack, Gust, Quick Attack, Whirlwind
"Wow Pidgey! You have quite the moveset there!" Ash exclaimed loudly. Ash just received a happy chirp from the Pidgey.
Ash, along with Pidgey and Eevee, walked along the path through Viridian Forest. This route felt different for several reasons - the foliage got more dense as they walked deeper into the forest, allowing less and less light onto the path. The plant life was also much thicker on either side of where they were walking, making it harder to leave, and the trail was less defined and almost blended in with the forest's dirt. Also, there was a larger variety of pokémon - Ledyba, Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, Spearow, and the rare Bulbasaur, Roselia, and the sort. Much of the journey through the forest was nothing particularly interesting, but Ash did agree that the walk was a pleasant one.
However, near the other side of the forest, Ash saw a Pikachu, being chased by two humans and a Meowth. One of the people had long, purple hair, and the other had shorter lilac hair. The two of them both had a net, which they were trying to catch Pikachu with. Both were taller than Ash, but that didn't stop him. Ash sent out his Pidgey.
"Use Gust!" Ash's Pidgey used a gust, aimed at the two other humans. The resulting wind blew both of them over, and pushed them away from the Pikachu.
"You can't do dat! That Pikachu is ours, and ours only!" Meowth said.
"Obviously it isn't, otherwise it wouldn't be running away from you. If it's yours, where is its pokéball?" Ash retorted.
"Well… umm… We lost it!" Meowth declared.
"Mhmm. And my Eevee is actually an Arceus in disguise, ordered to keep me safe by Mew. Eevee, iron tail!" Ash sarcastically responded.
"Wha-"
Any further discussion from Meowth was cut off when he was knocked unconscious by Eevee's iron tail.
"Hey, twerp! You don't mess with Meowth and get away with it!" The two humans exclaimed. "Arbok! Weezing! Deal with the twerp!" The pair of aforementioned pokémon appeared from their pokéballs, and slowly looked around.
"Attack him! The twerp!" They ordered.
Ash gasped. These two were willing to attack other people? "Eevee, use swift on the Arbok!" He also sent out Pidgey. "Pidgey, use gust and focus it on Weezing!"
As Arbok and Weezing prepared attacks, Eevee's swift caused Arbok to lose its focus, and Weezing was blown away, just as Weezing was about to use Explosion. The result was that Weezing fainted, and the two humans, Meowth, and Arbok were blown away.
"Haha, great job you two!" Ash exclaimed. "Hi Pikachu, are you ok? Did they hurt you at all?" He asked while looking concerned for the Pikachu.
Pikachu shook his head.
"That's good then!" Ash responded.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu said.
"Well, I'm going to head off now" Ash told Pikachu, content with the fact he was fine.
"Ok Eevee, let's get going, I would like to get to Pewter City as soon as we can" Ash told Eevee, who responded with a happy yip.
Eevee, Pidgey, and Ash then started on their journey towards Pewter City along the narrow path. Every now and then while walking along the path, Ash seemed to hear some crunching of dirt behind as if someone was walking there. Though every time Ash turned around to see what it was there was nothing but the rustling of the bushes on the side.
Jessie, James, and Meowth slowly regained consciousness. They all slowly stood up and looked around.
"Urgh. Can someone get the plate of dat Snorlax that ran me over?" Meowth drawled.
"We're not letting the twerp get away! Good thing we ended up near our robot!" Jessie exclaimed, glancing towards team rocket's robot.
"Let's get him!" James practically yelled.
Ash, Eevee, and Pidgey were making their way through Viridian Forest, near Pewter, when they heard a loud 'crack' from the forest.
"What's going on?" Ash exclaimed.
Crack! Crack!
Ash looked up, and his face paled. "Not these guys again!"
Pikachu came out from behind his hiding spot in the trees, and hid behind Ash.
What Ash saw was a giant bipedal robot that was silver and blue with a large red R on its chest which suely stood for Team Rocket.
"Sorry, twerp, but dat Pikachu's ours!" Meowth said through the robot's speaker.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie"
"James"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth, that's right"
"Now twerp, hand over that little Pikachu and there will be no problem" Jessie said through the speaker.
"I haven't seen that Pikachu since our battle" Ash stated, being rather confused.
"Then who is that behind your legs?" James questioned Ash.
There isn't anyone behind me, Ash thought, but then he turned around and saw a little yellow mouse-like pokémon staring up at him. That's when Ash realized who had been following him this whole time. Ash knew he wasn't going to let these people try and capture this PIkachu against its will, so he turned around prepared himself for another battle.
"There is no way I'm going to let you capture this Pikachu against its will!" Ash all but yelled at the large robot.
"Well we tried to warn you twerp, but if you won't hand over the Pikachu then we're gonna have to make you" Jessie yelled.
As soon as Jessie finished talking the robot lunged towards Ash, but before the robot could make contact with him a certain Pikachu jumped in front of Ash using what appeared to be a quick attack on the robot. Team Rocket's robot was pushed back a few feet from Pikachu's attack, but Pikachu was sent flying back into the bushes.
"Noooo, what are you doing!" Ash screamed towards the robot.
"Eevee, use Iron Tail!" Ash commanded Eevee before the Team Rocket Trio could respond. As soon as Eevee heard Ash, she took off running towards Team Rocket and slammed into their robot with her tail of iron making a loud clang. The robot fell backwards after receiving the hit from Eevee who went back in front of Ash in a fighting position. Team Rocket's robot slowly stood back up, but it too, seemed ready for a battle.
The robot's arms opened up to reveal two blaster cannons which shot electric bolts, as demonstrated by Meowth. She tried to hit Eevee with the electricity bolts, but Eevee used quick-attack to dodge most of them. Meowth fired the bolts in a spiral pattern, trying to trap Eevee, and succeeded. However, Ash saw what was happening.
"Eevee! Use Iron Tail and stick your tail in the ground!"
Eevee did so, and Meowth cackled when he noticed.
"Giving up, are you?" He fired straight at Eevee, howling with laughter. The bolt hit Eevee, and… absolutely nothing happened.
"HOW DID DAT HAPPEN!?" Meowth exclaimed.
"Eevee, use Iron Tail on the joints!" Ash responded.
"Eevee vee vui!" Eevee began using Quick Attack to climb the robot, and Iron Tail to attack the joints of the robot. While Eevee was attacking Team Rocket, Ash took this time to go over to the bushes where the Pikachu landed to see if it was alright.
"How's dat Eevee doing so much damage?" Meowth questioned. However, he had no time to think about it.
"We've lost the left leg! Robot's going down!"
Meowth made a last-ditch attempt to attack Pikachu - he aimed at Ash, and fired.
Ash didn't see it coming, and he would have been hit. However, Pikachu saw it. He jumped out from behind Ash, straight into the lightning bolt.
"Pikachu!" Ash exclaimed.
Pikachu was unharmed. He did, however, seem very, very angry.
"Pi…"
"Get the robot out of da way! Pikachu's gonna electrocute us!" Meowth exclaimed.
"Ka…"
"Move, you two!"
"Chuuuuu!"
Pikachu let loose a large lightning bolt which raced toward the robot. Upon contact, the robot exploded, launching metal debris and Jessie, James, and Meowth into the horizon. The recoil knocked Ash off his feet, and knocked Pikachu unconscious.
"Ouch… My arm…" Ash complained. "Thanks so much for your help, Pikachu. Let's get you to a Pokémon Center, shall we?"
Ash recalled his Eevee, picked up the Pikachu with his non-hurting arm, and started running towards Pewter City.
Unnoticed by him, there was a certain red-headed girl glaring at him. "That kid fried my bike with that Pikachu! He'd better pay me back for it!"
After a while of running, Ash came into the Pokémon Center, out of breath, where there was a Nurse Joy behind the counter.
"Hi Nurse Joy, could you heal my pokémon and this Pikachu? Team Rocket was after it, and I was able to rescue him." Ash requested.
"No problem at all! I'd also like to thank you for your courageous act." Nurse Joy responded.
Ash sweatdropped. "No problem at all!" He handed over his pokéballs and placed the Pikachu into Nurse Joy's arms. Nurse Joy turned around to go and take care of the pokémon, but before she did she turned back around to face Ash.
"Maybe you should get checked out yourself." Nurse Joy told Ash after noticing his injuries. Ash glanced to his arm with a pained expression.
"Yeah, I probably should. Do you know where I could do that?" Ash questioned.
"I could get a Chansey to help you out, if you would like" Nurse Joy offered.
"Sure, I'll take you up on that offer" Ash responded considering the pain in his arm.
"Hey Chansey, could take a look at this boy's arm?" Nurse Joy requested.
"Chansey sey chan!"
Chansey led Ash to a side room, and got his arm x-rayed. The scans came back, and it was confirmed that Ash had a broken arm. Chansey bandaged his arm and started setting his cast.
Arceus was mildly annoyed, to say the least. He had told Mew to make sure the Chosen One doesn't get hurt, and to tell Him when things were going downhill. And what happens? The Chosen One breaks his arm. He called Mew to the Hall, ready for a discussion.
"What happened there Mew? Why did the Chosen One break his arm, and why didn't you tell me?" Arceus demanded.
"Well, it's not like he got hurt permanently or anything, Arcy. He'll be fine. Also, you won't always be able to protect him. You have your duties." Mew retorted.
Arceus sighed. "Fine, I concede your point. Make sure, though to keep him safe."
"Yeah, yeah, never heard this before Arcy, I got it." Mew responded. She flew off, to keep an eye on the Chosen One.
Arceus sighed once again. "Will she ever stop?"
Ash was at the front desk, with his new cast, picking up his pokéballs from Nurse Joy.
"Thanks for coming by! I'll let you know when the Pikachu is awake."
"Sounds good!" Ash responded.
He left the Pokémon Center, went back to Viridian Forest, and released both of his Pokémon.
"Our first objective will be the Pewter Gym - the Rock Type gym. Brock, the gym leader, uses both an Onyx and a Geodude. Eevee, I'll need you to work on your Iron Tail. That will be a powerful move against both. Pidgey, it would be great if you could get Steel Wing, but if not, Wing Attack should be able to deal with Geodude."
After a long training day, Pidgey had learned Steel Wing, and improved her Wing Attack. Eevee had improved Iron Tail, and had also learned Dig.
"Well, great job! We'll be sure to defeat Brock!"
"Thanks Ash!" Eevee exclaimed.
"Who was that? Wait… was that you Eevee?" Ash questioned.
"That was me!" Eevee responded.
"Wow, this is so cool!" Ash exclaimed. "I can't believe that I can understand you!"
Ash was back at the Pokémon Center, waiting to see Nurse Joy.
"Oh, there you are! Pikachu is awake, and Chansey said that he wants to see you."
Ash followed Nurse Joy to one of the wards, where he found Pikachu in a hospital-type bed.
"How are you Pikachu?" Ash asked.
"Pika pika chupika." Pikachu responded.
"He says that he is still somewhat sore but doing better. He is happy to see that you are ok and doing well." Eevee translated. She turned her head, slightly confused, and then translated. "Pikachu would like to travel with you, after seeing how you protected him, and the strategic usage of Iron Tail to protect from electricity. He wishes to become stronger, and become more clever at battle tactics."
"Well, I wouldn't mind having you on my team, then! I'll catch you when you're fully recovered." Ash said, excitedly.
"Pikachu chu pikachu." Pikachu agreed.
"Pikachu says that he is fine with that. He wishes to remain outside of his pokéball, however." Eevee translated.
"That's fine with me!" Ash stated. "I'll see you in a few days."
A/N:
Ash catches some new pokémon and trashes Team Rocket, but gets hurt a little bit in the process.
