Exodia POV:
I tried to remember more as Megaman and I exited the ruins and I was exposed to the light of the sun, which I was surprised by how warm it felt. And then I had to wonder why I could feel the heat of the sun whenever my skin was just a fake layer over nothing but metal... every time I wanted to answer a question, I found I had another one to ask immediately afterwards. Megaman then pointed down off the ledge and I looked over, seeing that there was a flying ship down there that was parked, it looking very yellow and orange, which I thought looked pretty cool.
"So is she going to fly up here and we'll board it or..." I asked, Megaman smirking as he just jumped off and landed on the ship, showing there was a hatch on the roof. "Ah, okay," I said as I jumped as he did and... only then did I gasp at how high I was! I don't know what happened, but I braced for impact and landed right on my face, Megaman gasping as he then ran to me.
"A-Are you okay?! What happened?" he asked me in worry as I simply groaned and laid there, the fall to my face making me realize one more thing.
"I think I remember... I'm... afraid of heights..." I groaned as I simply tried to lay on the ground some more to try and regain any sense of dignity I had prior.
"Come on, let's get you into the Flutter," Megaman said as he led me to the hatch and I simply crawled after him, going down the ladder carefully and closing the hatch afterwards.
"Okay, we're heading off again," said a voice that sounded like Roll, and I then saw she was in front of what looked to be a steering wheel, her looking at me and Megaman with a small smile.
"So, you're this mysterious Exodia girl, huh? You look to be part robotic, but partly human as well," Roll said to me, which I sighed and nodded at.
"I wish I could remember what I was, honestly... all I know is what I've discovered so far... that my weapons turn robots into Refractors, my model name is XX-23, I was sealed on that island for some bizarre reason, and I'm afraid of heights..." I said with honesty.
"Afraid of heights? When did you learn that?" Roll asked, me sighing at her and Roll then smiling at that. "I thought that was a bird hitting the Flutter from the outside," she said, me smiling at how she was trying to make a joke about it.
"No, that was me landing on my face on your roof because I freaked out mid-jump," I said with a frown. We then finally jetted off into the distance and I simply sat on the ground, trying to think of my past life and what caused me to go into the ruins. I tried to think as hard as I could, but all I could get was a name and a very blurry face.
"Rg... Master..." I groaned as I tried to imagine his image... no dice.
"What was that, Exodia?" Roll asked, me sighing at her.
"I'm trying to think of my past life... trying to remember... all I could get was a name and a blurry face... Master... he was my Master... probably the one who created me," I said with honesty.
"Sounds convoluted. But don't worry, it's sure to come back at some point," Megaman smiled at me. And then I saw what looked like a tiny monkey with a robotic lower half doing a small dance in front of me. And then, I was surprised when it did something unexpected.
"Ukiki! Right, Megaman! I'm sure she'll remember at some point!" the monkey SPOKE! I gasped at this and the duo looked at me in confusion.
"What's up with you?" Roll asked me.
"T-That monkey... it can talk!" I gawked, Megaman looking at me in surprise while Roll looked confused.
"Huh? Data can't talk, right Megaman?" Roll asked, Megaman looking at her in worry as he then itched the back of his head.
"Uh, actually... I don't know why, but I can understand him, and so can Exodia..." I said, Roll being confused at that.
"So what did Data say?" Roll asked.
"He said, and I quote, 'Right, Megaman! I'm sure she'll remember at some point!'" I said, Data looking at me with a gaping mouth, which actually made the little guy look adorable.
"Wow! You can understand me! I wonder how that's possible?" Data asked with a small smile, me seeing that he started dancing soon after... he was hiding something, I had a feeling. But before I could ask, something happened as we got a bit of turbulence! And then I heard an old man's voice from over a PA system!
"Ack! Roll, the engine's smoking pretty bad! It's not gonna last much longer up here!" the old voice said, me gasping at that, me immediately hunkering down as Roll spoke to him, me getting scared simply from the fact that we were super high in the air and that the ship was malfunctioning.
"Gramps, open up the main valve and keep the pressure stable!" Roll said, the old guy responding soon after.
"You got it!" he said as Roll then looked to Megaman.
"We need to find a place to land! Any areas nearby on the map, Megaman?" Roll asked him as he looked at a map hooked up to the sonar and gasped.
"There's an island called Kattelox just a few miles west!" he said, Roll nodding at that.
"Got it! Hoo-CHA!" she shouted as she then turned the wheel vigorously to the left, me gasping as I started to feel g-force as the old man called Gramps spoke again.
"I can't take much more of this smoke, Roll! The engine can't take much more!" he said.
"Sorry, Gramps, keep it working for 10 more seconds! Otherwise, we won't make it!" Roll said, me holding onto my placement as I screamed in fear.
"We're gonna die!" I cried out in fear as Roll then looked at me with seriousness.
"BRACE FOR IMPACT!" she exclaimed as I felt a giant bump and I saw Roll and Megaman fly back and hit their backs and heads directly into the ladder to the hatch, them groaning a bit at that as I simply breathed in and out from fear and I saw that Data was on my back.
"I-Is it... over? Are we... good?" I asked with a bit of shakiness to my voice.
"Yes, we're okay... let's inspect the damages," Roll said as we then left the ship (though my legs still kept shaking) and we saw that the lower part of the Flutter was badly hurt, including its lower rudder being completely torn off and laying in the dirt a few meters south of us.
"The poor girl has been with us for so long... we haven't taken good enough care of her... we'll just have to fix her up!" Roll said with a smile.
"Easier said than done," the old man said, me looking at him with a smile at how he hadn't gotten hurt despite him being in the engine room. "I mean, we don't know where we even are. And scavenging for parts will be difficult without help. What was the name of this island, Megaman? Kattelox? There has to be a town nearby, right? Why don't you go out and explore with Exodia while Roll and I stay here?" he asked, me smiling at him.
"So is... Gramps really your name? Or are you just Roll's grandfather?" I asked him.
"Name's Barrel, miss. Barrel Caskett," he said as Megaman went on ahead, only for something to appear soon after. Something that looked like a robot! I held my gun in defense, but Roll eased me off of doing so.
"Easy, Exodia. That's a car, not a target," Roll smiled, me holstering my weapon as two other people emerged form the machine, me seeing their faces and noting that, once again, neither of them looked like I did.
"We heard a loud booming sound and came to see what happened," said the fatter of the duo, him wearing a trench coat and having a pretty cool bit of hair on his lip.
"Yeah... we almost died..." I said, Roll punching me in the arm and her groaning as she started to suck on her fingers a bit after that.
"Oof... remind me to never get in a fight with a walking hunk of metal..." Roll said with a groan afterwards, me frowning as I then tried to feel my arms. She was right. Nothing but metal under both.
"Well, you certainly put on quite a show, though it looks like everyone's alright. Let me be the first to welcome you all to Kattelox Island!" the fat guy said with a smile as he then looked at our group with a smile while his blue uniform-wearing friend stood nearby. "Now, I'd like to ask one of ya to come down to the station," he said, me being confused at that.
"Station? What's that?" I asked, the duo of people being confused at that.
"Uh, pardon Exodia's confusion... we found her locked up in some ruins and she has quite the case of memory loss," Megaman said, me frowning at him.
"I can tell that she's not like ordinary people just from her cheeks and those antenna on her head," the fatty said as he then spoke again. "Anyways, the station I'm talking about is a Police Station. Don't worry, none of you are under arrest, we just need you to fill out some immigration forms so you can get ID cards to travel around the city."
"I think I'll go, since you youngsters are still too young to really fill out legal documents," Barrel said as he looked at the duo of police with a smile.
"While you're waiting for him to return, why don't you spend some time at the shopping arcade near the city? You don't need an ID card to get in there," he smiled.
"Thanks, I think we'll take you up on that offer," I smiled as I looked at Megaman as Barrel got into the 'car' and the group then drove away soon after.
"Roll, you go ahead and inspect the damages, I think Exodia and I will visit this shopping arcade to see if they happen to have spare parts," Megaman smiled.
"Okay, just be sure not to stay out for too long," Roll smiled at us, me smirking at that. We then moved down the road a bit as I then felt something... underneath my feet. I lifted them up and picked something off the ground, it being something that looked a bit old and rusted, but it looking very intricate as well... it looked like a doll... of some kind. But I had no idea what... but then as I inspected it more, I found something shocking. My model name was on the metal doll!
When I saw that, I immediately felt a memory return to me...
I was in this exact same area before, many years ago... it was back during a time where some kind of issues were going on between humans and what looked to be robotic people. I was sitting in my room petting the doll with my hands as I then saw someone appear. It looked like someone I felt I knew before, but I couldn't quite recognize him fully.
"XX-23," he spoke as he came closer into view, me seeing that he looked old, yet handsome at the same time... with hair on most of his face of a white color, but him also looking unlike anyone I'd seen... "You must remember, never harm humanity. It is against the law of robotics for a robot to ever harm a human. Stay strong, and help defend the world from further threats," the man said, me then looking at him as I spoke.
"I will, Doctor Light, I will," I said to him with a smile as he then went over and hugged me, which felt so real... and then I felt his hand touch something on the back of my neck and I felt my body lose all of its will to move.
"I'm sorry... but there's not much time left..." he said as he then laid my limp body into an escape pod of sorts and he pushed a button. "Save humanity, that's an order!" he said before I saw my entire world change to see that I was in the deep reaches of space and I was being plummeted down to a planet that looked to be coated in warfare.
When the memory ended, I gasped awake as I looked at Megaman and he looked at me in confusion.
"You okay, Exodia? You just gasped out of nowhere," he said as I saw we were still in the exact same spot as before and I held the doll in my hand. There was no mistake. It looked like the same doll I had in the vision, only it was very worn and I felt that it was very brittle. "Where'd you find that doll?" Megaman asked me as I sighed and shook my head.
"I... I remembered something... about my Master," I said as I looked at Megaman with a small smile. "He said that... I had to protect humanity... and then he sent me to a planet from outer space... one that was engulfed in warfare... but that's all I can remember... and this doll... it was the same one I had with me when I got down here," I said with a small smile.
"I see... what was the name of your master? Did he mention that?"
"Yeah... I called him Doctor Light... who was he?" I frowned, wondering why he would turn me off and send me to the war-ridden world in that capsule.
"Let's go to the market. Maybe it'll help clear your head a bit," Megaman suggested.
"Yeah... that sounds like a good start." I then followed him as we then went to the market. He was right, I had to cool off on trying to remember everything all at once. Just do it sparingly.
