Present

It was a nice warm day in the mansion, everyone was in the house were all working on their own stuff, Iris was riding Squig, Misery was taking a nap, Frank and Len were practicing their guitar skills, Scardey Bat was with Boo Boo the Ghost, Poe was reading some poetry, and Ruby was playing with Doom Kitty, but for Skull Boy, he was in his room trying out a new talent: Gem Carving.

He found this idea when he was walking yesterday when he accidentally tripped on something hard, that something was gemstone known as an Azotic Topaz, a beautiful gemstone that had the colors of red, orange and yellow.

Every single of those colors reminded him of one special girl, Ruby Gloom, the happiest and most beautiful girl that he ever met in Gloomsville, the stone reminded him of how beautiful her red hair was, how her smile is as sweet as the sun, and how she sees the beauty of everything, even if others think it's not possible.

After he finished polishing the now heart shaped gemstone, he found some small silver necklace chains, a silver heart shaped holder, carefully placed the gem inside the holder, and finished his masterpiece.

It was a beautiful silver necklace with an Azotic Topaz heart in the middle, sure next week was when his birthday comes around, but instead of getting a present, he decided he would give a special necklace to the one girl he was crushing on.

"Perfect." The skeleton said as he held his masterpiece.

"Hey Skull Boy." A voice said near the entrance of his room, he turned his head toward the door of his room and saw it was Boo Boo, the friendly ghost who loves to pull pranks on others. "Whatcha doing?"

"Oh, I was just practicing on a new talent." Skull Boy said as he looked at Boo Boo. "I think I might come from a great line of Gem Carvers."

"Oh, so you made that nice looking necklace?" Boo Boo said as he saw the necklace Skull Boy made, Skull Boy nodded his head at Boo Boo's question. "Who's it for?"

Skull Boy started to stutter a little bit, he didn't want Boo Boo to know about his crush on Ruby, so he decided to just say this. "Oh, it's just for a friend, sure my birthday is next week, but I thought maybe instead of getting something for my birthday, I would make something for one of my friends instead."

Correction: He was going to give a beautiful necklace to the happiest, most beautiful girl that his eyes have ever seen.

"Oh, that's nice of you," Boo Boo said believing him. "Well good luck on that, I'm just going to practice on my pranking."

Skull Boy nodded his head and with that, Boo Boo was now out of his room, after he put the necklace in his pocket, he then searched around the mansion for Ruby, he then found Ruby in the library reading a book, she looked so peaceful, and she had a beautiful sweet smile on her face.

Okay Skull Boy, you can do this, you can do this. He thought to himself while feeling nervous, with all the confidence he had, he went inside the library to approach her.

Ruby heard Skull Boy's footsteps and looked up from her book to see Skull Boy approach her. "Hello Skull Boy," Ruby said as she smiled. "are you feeling excited about your birthday?"

"Well, I don't really have anything that I want for my birthday yet," Skull Boy said scratching his neck. "But I do want to give you something, I know next week's my birthday but I thought maybe I would give you something instead of getting my own birthday present."

"That's sounds great Skull Boy," Ruby said as she got out of her chair. "What is it?"

"First you're going to have to close your eyes," Skull Boy said to her. "It's a bit of a surprise."

"Okay, I'm okay with surprises." She said as she then closed her eyes.

Skull Boy took a deep breath, exhaled and took the necklace out of his pocket and gently tied the necklace around her neck, Ruby blushed a little when she felt his fingers.

Next he took Ruby to a mirror that was on one of the library walls and then said. "Okay, you can open them now."

As soon as Ruby opened her eyes, she gasped at what she saw in the mirror, it was the Azotic Topaz necklace that Skull Boy made for her. "Whoa, it's gorgeous, is it really for me?" Ruby said stunned as she looked at the mirror with one of her hands on the necklace.

"Well, yesterday when I tripped on the stone, I saw how some of its colors reminded me of you and how you always helped us during bad times," Skull Boy said in a shy tone. "so I thought I would make you this necklace as a token of gratitude for all that you've done for us, and to show how grateful we are to have you as our friend."

At that moment, Skull Boy then started to hear Ruby sobbing quietly, he started to get worried about her and thought that she must've not liked it.

"Um, are you okay?" Skull Boy asked Ruby as she kept sobbing. "Did you not like it?"

"Like it?" She said as she then turned to see Skull Boy as she was now smiling and shedding some happy tears. "Skull Boy, I love it, this is one of the the kindest things anyone has ever done for me, thank you."

Skull Boy smiled shyly at Ruby's compliment, suddenly, Ruby did something that he never expected for her to do, she kissed Skull Boy's cheek.

This caused Skull Boy to blush a very deep shade of red. "Oh, it's time for me to feed Doom Kitty," Ruby said as was about to leave. "See ya Skull Boy, and thanks again."

As soon as Ruby left, Skull Boy placed his hand on the cheek Ruby kissed, and fainted onto the ground with hearts in his eyes, he couldn't believe that he actually got a kiss on the cheek from Ruby.

Boo Boo, who saw everything without anyone noticing, came in the library smiling. "Aw, Skull Boy, that's one of the most nicest things you've ever done, I've never seen Ruby so happy." Boo Boo said to Skull Boy.

"I will never wash this cheek again." Skull Boy said referring to the cheek Ruby kissed while also blushing.
