"Clem, what are you doing?" asked Lee.

"Maybe the radio works, I remember my dad used to listen to a station, it might still be working," she replied, as she moved the buttons on the stereo.

"You can give it a shot, I tried messing around with it but I got nothin'," replied Kenny.

After several tries and minutes of static, the radio came to life.

"Well I'll be damned!"

"Looks like it works after all, let's listen in,"

"Marshall law and National Guard have been deployed to combat hostiles, barricade homes and wait for further instructions. Atlanta has been declared a Stage 9 Catastrophe, as with the rest of the communities, Augusta, Marietta, Douglasville, among others. Wait for further instructions." The radio message was on a loop.

" The cities are gone. The military and national guard got overrun. We aren't safe anymore, " said Edward.

" Damnit Edward you're scaring Clementine! "

" Sorry."

"Look, we're running low on gas. We head into Macon, go to your families drugstore, get supplies, and head on down to Savannah, we get on my boat and get the hell out of here," replied Kenny.

The streets of Macon were empty. No human life, no walkers. The truck had run out of gas so they were on foot. Duck spotted a person looking over a car.

" Hey there, you friendly? Truck's run out of gas," said Kenny.

The person turned out to be a walker, which attracted the attention of several others.

"Shit, we're trapped!"

"Stay close, Clem!"

A woman appeared and started firing at the walkers, buying them some time.

"Get in the store, now!" They all ran into the drugstore, safe from the undead.

"Godamnit, Carley. We can't keep doing this!"

"And we can't just let people die either!"

"When I say that door stays shut, I fucking mean it."

"Hey, we mean no harm, we're just regular people, and we have kids with us,"

"Lee's right. We're just looking for some help, that's it," added Kenny.

"Well, what a nice way of asking for help, you attracted all of the walkers in Macon, and they're right outside that door!" Yelled a woman, who seemed to be the apparent leader of the group.

"Look, we have kids with us, we don't mean any harm,"

"I only see one little girl, and I see a fucking man eater over there!" One of the men pointed at Duck, who had a bunch of blood all over him.

"Kenny?" Asked Lee, fearing the worst.

"One of the fuckers almost got him, but we got him off in time,"

"Almost? He's bitten, we need to throw him out, now!"

"No!" yelled Clem.

"Over my dead body." growled Kenny.

"We'll dig one hole. After he sinks his teeth into his mother's face, of course."

"He's not bitten, he's fine!" Exclaimed Katjaa.

"Lee,"

"What is it Clem?"

"I really need to pee,"

"In a minute, while we sort this mess out.

" Don't you people fucking get it?! The bite, that's how you turn! We're tossing him out now,"

"Don't you dare touch that boy, or else."

"Huh? Look, take care of your girl, and mind your own damn business,"

"Lee, there's somebody inside,"

"It's probably just locked. Keys are behind the counter, probably."

"Taking care of her means getting any danger out of her way, which you are. You want to get violent you old fuck?! Then come on, because it's me, before anyone else in here!" Lee's declaration of war was cut short, as a walker stumbled out of the bathroom and tried to reach for Clem.

"Shit!" Lee ran over, and pulled the walker off of her.

"Let go of her you son of a bitch!" The walker gained the upper hand in the brawl, as Lee wrestled it to the ground and killed it.

"Man," he said, tired and panting.

"I said we should get him out of here, he's clear-" The man grabbed his chest, and fell against the wall.

"Well shit, what's the matter with him?"

"He has a heart condition, we've been trying to get to the pharmacy but we can't find the Keys, please help us."

"We'll do our best. Lee, help find the Keys. Carley, you and tech boy can do shifts on guard, I'll look for supplies around here, Edward, try looking for keys also. Everyone else, get settled in. We could be here a while.

Lee approached the man and his daughter.

" Look, I know we just had that.. Disagreement back there, but I was just protecting my people,"

"I understand, and I was just doing the same. The names Lilly, this is my dad Larry.

" About the girl, is she your daughter? "

" No, I found her by herself in her tree house, and I took her in. I'm looking after her until we find her parents. "

" Wow, that's nice of you. Do you know where her parents are?"

"She mentioned that they were on vacation at Savannah."

"I heard it got pretty bad there also. Look, you need to see the realistic side of everything, even if it hurts. Her parents are most likely gone, but you need to keep her safe, no matter what."

"I'll take your advice," She smiled and Lee just walked away.

"Is this your parents place?" Asked Edward.

"Yeah, it's been a while since I was last here, feels strange being here."

"Look on the bright side, we're not out there, and being in here means you have clem safe, that's what matters."

Edward patted him on the back and walked off.

Clementine approached Lee.

"Are we safe here?"

"What?"

"I mean, you can hear the monsters outside, are we safe?"

"Yeah. Those doors will hold for quite a while, don't worry. Do you need anything?"

"No. Well, I guess I'm kind of hungry."

"There might be something you can eat in the back office. You want to come in with me?"

"Sure,"

The back office was a disaster. The desk was flipped over, blocking the pharmacy itself. There were a couple of bloody sleeping bags, which made Lee think the inevitable.

"No. I can't think about them. Not here." He started to look for anything useful, anything that could possibly help them, in any way.

"Lee, what if my parents come home, and I'm not there.."

"They'll.. They'll track us down, they'll find us. Don't worry."

Lee found a old portrait, which was him, his brother and parents. Just the thought of not being with them made him feel so bad, that he wasn't here to help them in their time of need, or their last moments. He grabbed the photo and tore the photo, ripping off the side which was him, and putting it in his pocket.

"Find anything?" Carley, a member of Lily's group, entered the room.

Lee hid his hand with the rest of the picture behind his leg.

"Just a photo. Must have belonged to whoever owned the place."

"I know who you are."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You're Lee Everett. You're a convicted killer, you killed a state senator who was sleeping with your wife."

Lee didn't have anything to say at the moment. Clementine was just standing beside them.

"Have you told anyone who you are out there?"

"I've been sticking to first names for a reason."

"If honesty is what's keeping us alive and going, we aren't getting anywhere. Look, you seem like a Good guy, you got this little girl to take care of, and frankly, a trait like that might come in handy."

"Well, thanks, I suppose."

"Your secret is safe with me, don't worry." She smiled at him and left the room.

"I should get this desk out of the way, should be easier to open then."

"Can I help?"

"Sure. Just watch your fingers on the drawers."

"Lee, why don't you talk about your family?" She asked, as they moved the desk.

"Eh, it's just... How about your parents? What do they do for a living?"

"My mom's a doctor and my dad is a engineer."

"Those are good jobs,"

"But you didn't answer my question, do they like, hate you or something?"

"Look, we just weren't very close at the end and I just wish things were different." They both continued to move the desk as Clem let out a squeal.

"I cut my finger,"

Lee lifted her up and set her down on the desk.

"There should be a bandage around here." After several minutes of looking for one, he eventually patched her finger up.

"Well, looks like we got through this place pretty good. Let's head back into the drugstore."

"Glenn and Edward headed out to the motel near Peachtree, to siphon some gas for the truck," said Kenny.

"Hell, seems like a death wish to me."

"Damn right, but somebody's gotta do it."

Lee decided to rest for a while. Images of the walker trying to get Clem ravaged his mind, as in his brief dream, he swore to protect her from any danger.

"Lee," He snapped back to reality, with Kenny in his face.

"Hate to cut short your beauty sleep, but Glenn and Ed got stuck at the motel, some damn walkers got the surprise on em."

"Shit. Well, now what?"

"Somebody's gotta go get them. They're our ticket out of this shit hole anyways."

"Me and Lee can go check it out. I could use a jog anyways," said Carley.

"Hell, you volunteered yourselves," Said Kenny, sarcastically.

"Clem, Edward and Glenn got into a bit of a problem, and me and Carley are gonna go help them out. I need you to stay close to Katjaa,"

"Did the monsters get them?"

"No, they just got stuck there. I'll be back soon, don't worry."

Carley and Lee walked out the back Alley of the drugstore, and started their trek towards the motor inn.

"So, where did you all meet up? I can safely assume that you did not know Clem and Ken y before all this happened," said Carley.

"Well, I already told you how I met her. And we met Kenny and his family on this farm, Ed was also there, and we just decided to stick together."

"Seems smart. Don't see alot of logic in this world anymore."

"It feels like this has been going on forever. We just have to accept this is our world now."

"This world belongs to the dead. We're just barely surviving in it."

That thought circled around in Lee's head for a few minutes. Maybe hell just decided to come to earth, in the form of undead. Maybe this is just punishment? For all the bad they've done? The answer is unclear, but he has one goal in mind, and he plans to fulfill it.

The motel seemed pretty much abandoned with no trace of life to be seen anywhere. Several cars were all over the lot, with a large RV in the middle. Several walkers were just roaming around, unaware of their presence.

"Shit, over there," Carley pointed her gun at a ice dispenser, which started moving. After several seconds, Glenn and Edward came out of it.

"Don't tell me you were gonna blow my brains out," said Ed.

"You could have been one of them, how was I supposed to know?"

"Look, you're safe, you got the supplies, now let's get going,"

"No, there's somebody up there, she needs our help," said Glenn, pointing to the top floor of the motel.

"Glenn, are you in your right mind?" asked Lee, shaking his head.

"Look, I heard her yell, so I went back to try to help her out, but she wouldn't open the door, that's when the dead ones got the jump on us,"

"Ed, you agreed on this?"

"Look man, I just wanted to get the hell out of here, this place is swarming with walkers, and I'm not about to dinner."

"Look, I'm going back up there to help her, with, or without you."

The group eventually agreed to help out. After several minutes, they took out the walkers one by one, and ended up at her door.

"Hello, are you okay?"

No response.

"She doesn't want help, Lee. Let's go," added Carley.

"Go away! Leave me alone!"

"We're hear to help, we're not bitten. We have a group back in town, you can come with,"

"GO AWAY!"

"I'm gonna knock this door down if you don't come out," Lee started to take down the board securing it with the axe he found, which caused the door to open from the inside.

The girl appeared to be severely dehydrated, and starved. She was holding the left side of her torso, which was bloody.

" Are you bit?" asked Lee.

"My boyfriend was bitten, he died, came back, and got me. Please, I told you all to stay away, but you won't just listen.."

"We have medicine back at our place, we can patch you up-"

"Glenn, stop," replied Carley.

"No, there's no stopping it. Don't you all know? The bite makes you die, and come back as one of them. I've seen hell, and it's coming back as one of them, this isn't sane, not normal,"

"What can we do then,"

"Give me your gun."

"What?" asked Carley.

"I don't want to come back as one of them. This is everyone's last resort, and I'm using it."

"Carley, give her the gun."

"Lee? What the hell?"

"She's dying Glenn. She's gonna turn if she doesn't do it." Lee took the pistol and gave it to her.

"I can't watch this, I'll wait for you at the car." Glenn, Ed and Carley left.

"Thank you for doing me this favor," she said.

"Don't worry. May God bless you, whatever happens after this," Said Lee.

"God bless you too," She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and pulled the trigger. Lee picked up the pistol and walked back to the car.

"Did she do it?" Asked Ed.

"Yeah. She did."

"Damn."

"What's important now is we all have to stick together and look out for each other. Especially now that the group is bigger." Ed nodded in acknowledgement, as they drove back to the drug store.
