2.

First there was a never ending, heavy, slumbering darkness... and then there wasn't.

Shooting up in bed with a gasp, wide eyes flew around the room. It was dark, obviously very late at night or early morning, the only source of light a dim glowing nightlight in the corner. The walls, from what she could see, were painted a pale lilac color.

There was a mobile with plush stars with a moon in the center hung from the ceiling in one corner. A closet with double sliding doors was half open revealing an almost ridiculous amount of clothes. And a chest of drawers against the fall wall. But all this, the walls, the toys scattered here and there, the fact she recognized nothing in the room at all suddenly became a secondary concern.

She wasn't alone.

Across from the bed she was in, on an identical bed, was a small girl. She looked like she was a bit younger than Eli herself, maybe ten or eleven. Her hair was a dark shade, though she couldn't make out the exact color in the dark. Her arms were thrown over her head, legs twisted in her bedding, tiny snores leaving her slightly opened mouth. She mumbled something, snorted, and rolled onto her side leaving only one side of her face visible.

Eli watched the girl, weary.

Where was she? What was going on? The last thing she remembered was saying bye to her mother before school. Where were her parents? Pulling her knees up to her chest she wrapped her arms around her legs. For a long moment the young girl just sat there, huddled into herself.

Should she get up and look for answers, or wait for someone to come tell her what was going on? Well, she was never really good at sitting and waiting. Besides, she had a terrible feeling about all this. Like something was very, very wrong.

With another look at the sleeping girl she carefully and quietly slipped out of bed. Nearly stumbling she reached out to steady herself with the post of the footboard.. the bed must have been taller than she assumed. Bare feet dug into light colored soft shaggy carpeting.

It was likely safer to look out the window for any clues before exploring the.. house? She assumed it was a house anyway, since there was a bedroom. Making her way across the room as quietly as she could, careful not to trip over a stray stuffed horse, (she held her breath as she walked past the sleeping girl) Eli reached out for the sheer curtain covering the window and pulled it to the side.

A loud gasp escaped her mouth, her hand flew up automatically to cover it. The small girl stumbled back, tripping as she went and falling hard onto her butt. That stupid horse!

It was snowing. Outside, at that very moment. Snowing. But it couldn't be snowing. It was August for Pete's sake!

"Lea?" A groggy voice croaked. "What chu on the floor for?"

Her head whipped to the side. The other girl was sitting up, hair a mess, rubbing at her eyes. There was a second where she thought she was going to have a panic attack. And then she opened her eyes. Doe shaped, bright even in the dark, emerald green eyes locked on her own.

The world tilted.

There was a loud beeping sound in her ears.. or maybe it was rushing water..

And then the pain came.

It was cold and slicing. Ripping through her head mercilessly. Her hands flew up to push against the sides of her head. A long, high pitched scream leaving her lips, another scream joining her own. Her body tipped to the side until she was in a fetal position on the floor, shaking violently.

The little girl however, knew none of this. She was in no fit state to take in anything going on, or the chaos now raging around her downed form. Flashes of light, cold and blinding. Memories flashed through her mind. Bending, bonding, fusing. It was like acid, like her brain would bubble out of her ears.

It quickly became to much and she lost consciousness, blood dribbling out of her ears and mouth.

There were times where she felt like maybe she was waking up, glimpses of light, voices, but then the world would just turn black and she was lost once more. When she finally did open her eyes it was dark again. The room dimly lit by a low light above the bed.

It was obviously a hospital room. There was a needle in her arm connected to a bag hanging above her, an iv, and the steady beeping of the machine beside her were making her grimace. The needle because it was uncomfortable, the beeping because her head was pounding.

She remembered being in her bed, Lily was asleep, and she got up to look out the window.. it was snowing.. No, it wasn't her bed at all. And the girl.. Lily. Yes, the girl was Lily, her twin. This was wrong, Eli didn't have a twin... but Azalea did. An older twin by seven minutes. Blinking, her mind seemed to snap into place.

She was Eli.

She was Lea.

She was both.

She was neither.

Something was wrong. Well, it didn't feel wrong. Which was entirely the problem. She shouldn't be so calm. No matter how you looked at it, she should be losing her mind.

First off. Eli should be grieving. She understood perfectly that she had... died. Never again would she see her mother, her father, her best friend. She wouldn't ever get the chance to work up the courage to ask Alec Thomas -her crush since third grade- out, or just walk up to him and kiss him senseless. No more school, not her school anyway.

She wouldn't get to visit her grandma this summer in Florida.. they were gonna go to Disney..

Her whole world was gone..

And Eli, or maybe Lea.. just didn't care all that much.

That was wrong, unnatural.

Secondly, her twin was named Lily Evans. She had an older sister named Petunia Evans. And just last year, after they moved to Cokeworth for her papa's practice, she and Lily met a boy. A boy who told them all about magic. A boy named Severus Snape, who promised they would get to go to Hogwarts when they turned eleven.

Harry Potter.

She was somehow, someway, in the world of Harry Potter.

Yes, she should be freaking out.

But curiously, she wasn't.

Sure as she thought about Eli's life, all the best parts of it, she felt some... sympathy..? That seemed to be the best word. But there was no true, deep, emotional connection, like it had never been there at all, or had been cut..

And as for seemingly being in a fictional world.. she had nothing. She had no idea how or why. No idea how it was even possible, it wasn't possible. And yet here she was. She should be having a panic attack. Maybe she was in shock? That had to be it. It was probably for the best.

The door to her hospital room opened.

A woman.. her mother walked into the room. She was an incredibly beautiful woman. Small and delicate with a very feminine figure. Her long thick ruby colored hair was pulled up into a hastily done bun. Dark bags under her bright green eyes. Eyes that lit up happily when she realized her daughter was awake.

"Oh my darling." She rushed over and pulled.. Lea against her body, holding her tightly. "Oh sweetheart, you scared me and your papa something awful."

"I'm sorry." Her voice was horse, causing her mother to let go and pour her a glass of water from the plastic jug on the side table.

"Slowly, slowly Azalea." Her voice was low, calming, she sat on the edge of her bed. "What do you remember?"

Green eyes, full of love- happiness- worry, fixed on her own as her mother brushed her hair from her face.

"Lily was asleep, but I wanted to look out the window, there was snow.." She trailed off, eyes gaining a slightly far away look. "I don't know."

"It's okay." She smiled before standing. "I'm going to get a nurse, okay? Don't move, and don't go back to sleep. Just.. just stay just like that."

She looked afraid to leave the room, as if Lea would disappear the moment she took her eyes off her.

"Mum." Mum not mom. "How long..?"

"Seven days." Her mother whispered quietly. "It's been seven days."

Please leave a review! I was very nervous about this chapter. Did it come out okay?
