Chapter 2

Ocean Liner to Duel Academy:

Jaden yawns as he stretches, making his way out of the cabin he shared with Syrus and Bastion. He has on a red t-shirt and blue jeans, his deck box on his right hip, and his duel disk hanging from the small of his back. He was not expecting someone to run into him while he was still waking up. Luckily Bastion was able to brace him while his arms automatically steady whomever ran into him. " Are you Jaden Yuki? "

" Yeah, why? Also, who are you? " Jaden asks as the person in his arms pulls away.

" Who I am doesn't matter right now. Miss Jackson stepped in to stop me from being bullied, but the terms if she loses are she has to be the girlfriend of the leader of those that were bullying me. She sent me to find you, and just said, E-Emergency Call. "

" Lead the way. " Jaden says seriously.

The four arrive just as Callie loses, and Jaden steps in, " I challenge you to a duel, I win, and Cals doesn't have to be your girlfriend along with the original condition of Cals duel. " Jaden says, his brown eyes flashing gold briefly.

" I win and Miss Jackson will be my girlfriend. "

" Can I know the name of my opponent? " Jaden asks.

" Kyle Howard. "

" Well, Kyle, get your Game On. " Jaden says, deck and duel disk at the ready.

Callie joins Bastion, Syrus, and the student she'd sent to get Jaden. " Guys, this is Willow Underwood, Weevil's relative. " Callie introduces the bullied student as Jaden and Kyle duel. Jaden allows Kyle to have the first move, and he summons A-Assault Core, before throwing down two face downs. Jaden draws, " First I use Pot of Greed to draw two cards, then I summon out Elemental Hero Bubbleman in attack mode, and since he's out there alone I get to draw two more cards. Next I use Polymerization to fuse Elemental Heroes Sparkman and Bladedge to form Elemental Hero Plasma Vice. Next I equip Bubbleman with Bubble Blaster to raise his attack by eight hundred and equip Axe of Despair to Plasma Vice. Next up I use Twin Twister, by discarding one card I can get rid of both of your face downs. Now I send another card to the grave in order to activate one of Plasma Vice's effects, which sends any face up attack position monster on my opponent's field to the grave. Finally, Plasma Vice and Bubbleman will attack you directly. That's Game. "

" A first turn kill, those don't happen very often. " Bastion murmurs.

Callie sighs in relief, and once Jaden was in reach stuns him into inaction by kissing him. Willow giggles at the look on his face while Bastion and Syrus both stare in shock. Jaden's brain reboots just after Callie breaks the kiss and pulls away. His right hand snaps out to grab her left wrist, " Cals, what…? "

The ravenette just smiles, and shakes her head, amusement dancing in her sea green eyes. She turns to Willow, " Come on, you can move your things into my cabin. "

Jaden places his deck back in his deck box, and hangs his duel disk back at the small of his back before running his hands through his hair, honest confusion in his eyes. Seeing the confusion Bastion and Syrus share a look, " Jay, just how dense are you outside of dueling? " Syrus asks him.

Jaden blinks as he looks at Syrus, and then he facepalms, calling himself several kinds of idiot in Greek under his breath. " Can I help it if my brain is wired for battle? Now, excuse me, I have something I need to do. "

Bastion looks at Syrus, " Want me to help you learn more about your deck's strengths and weaknesses after we have breakfast? "

" Sure, that'd be great, Bastion. " Syrus says.

Jaden grabs himself a couple of apples, a bottle of orange juice, and a few rice balls for breakfast before heading to the onboard gift shop. It took Sy's question for him to realize that Callie was waiting for him to make a play. Part of him was terrified to lose her friendship should a romantic relationship go up in flames, like he'd been her first friend she was also his. It was why he honestly hadn't noticed all the signals she'd been sending his way, he'd rather have her as a friend than not at all. His brown eyes notice a boar pendant that happened to have a spear in its mouth. His eyes find the price, and he easily pays the 150 yen for it. Jaden reaches Callie's cabin just as she and Willow finish moving Willow in. " Hey, Willow, can I borrow Cals? "

" Sure, I'm just going to read up on the new cards coming out, and what they're capable of. " Willow says.

Callie shrugs as she follows Jaden to a relatively private area, not many people were up yet, and most that were happened to be on the recreation decks enjoying the last little bit of freedom before they had to buckle down. Jaden dangles the boar pendant in front of her, " Cals, I'm an idiot. I let my fear get the better of me. "

Callie blinks, and then her sea green eyes widen in comprehension, " Fear of losing the first friend you've ever had, all because you can see and hear Duel Spirits, right? You wanted to keep me as a friend rather than risk losing me. "

" Yeah, to all of it, but I am a son of Ares. Battling is all about taking risks, and if you really think about it relationships could be considered another kind of battle, just not one I'm so good at. Risking your heart is a lot different than losing a duel. " Jaden admits, " I'm willing to take that risk now, Cals, so will you be my girlfriend? "

" Of course, you Idiotic War Child. Put that pendant on me already, Jaden. "

Jaden could feel the tension flow out of his body as he latches the pendant around her neck before pulling her to himself, marveling at just how right it felt to have Callie in his arms. He tips her chin up just enough to connect his lips to hers. Callie tugs him closer and Jaden takes the hint, deepening their kiss, his right hand goes to the small of her back, and his left cups the back of her neck. Jaden only pulls back when air becomes a necessity, " I'm your Idiotic War Child, right, Cals? "

Callie smiles at him, " You are. "

Duel Academy Island:

The new students all make their way inside to get their uniforms, and the Female Head of Obelisk along with school nurse Fonda Fontaine is handing out the girl's uniforms. Callie can only smirk when she finds a red sleeveless shirt with some white where her neck would be along with a red lined white sailor collar that could snap on, red fingerless gloves, and a choice of a white mini skirt or black pants along with crimson boots. Callie is quick to change, making sure her pendant is easily seen, and she takes in Willow's Ra uniform which consisted of a white top with yellow trim, yellow fingerless gloves, and Willow had opted for the yellow mini skirt, along with yellow boots. Callie and Willow make their way out of the locker room together, and the ravenette leads them over to the guys by following her primary Duel Spirit.

Callie steps into Jaden's line of sight and she watches his pupils dilate as he takes in her appearance before dragging her to himself. Willow giggles while Bastion and Syrus shake their heads, " Είμαι σχισμένο μεταξύ ευχαριστώντας τον ξάδελφό σας και τον θάνατο(I'm torn between thanking your cousin and killing him). " Jaden tells Callie.

" This uniform could come with a white mini skirt you know. " Callie informs him.

Jaden curses under his breath, " Εύχομαι να γνωρίζουμε ποιος είναι ο θεϊκός γονέας σας, αν μόνο έτσι ξέρω ποιος θα κατηγορήσει για αυτή τη γοητεία σας(I wish we knew who your divine parent is, if only so I know whom to blame for that allure of yours). "

Callie giggles at this and then the new student orientation begins. Callie just lets herself relax against Jaden, in no hurry to pull away from him. She pulls out her Duel Pilot after the orientation is over and starts going over the school rules, Jaden reading over her shoulder. He did need to know the new Rules of Engagement for his new school. Bastion, Syrus, and Willow do so as well, knowing the school rules was helpful. " Once we have our schedules we should figure out when to have our group study sessions. " Jaden says.

" Very wise, Jaden. Willow and I will be heading off to the Ra Dorm. " Bastion says.

" Willow, remember, you have friends, and we will stand by you, no matter what. " Callie tells her.

" Cals is right, Willow. You need help just ask, and Bastion will be close by. " Jaden says.

Willow gives them a tremulous smile, " Thanks, guys. "

Jaden looks at Syrus and Callie, " Guess we better get to our own dorm, hopefully Cals and I can scope out a place to practice our martial arts. "

" I could go for a spar. " Callie muses out, nestled into Jaden's side as they make their way to their dorm. They have to separate to check out their rooms, and Callie silently thanks her mother for clearly labeling every box. It doesn't take her long to get everything put away where it goes, and she changes into a tank top and sweatpants before grabbing the practice staffs. She knocks on the door to Jaden and Sy's room.

Jaden blinks as he opens the door, " Give me a second, Cals, just got my things put away. "

" I'll be right here waiting. " Callie says.

Not long after Jaden emerges from his dorm room with a black t-shirt and sweatpants on, and motions off to the side, " We should be able to spar there. "

Callie looks the area over, " Works for me. "

Both teens make sure to stretch out thoroughly before spinning their staffs in their hands, and settling into stances, " So how we doing this, this time, Cals? " Jaden asks her.

" Point system, First to three with no dishonorable hits, unless you want groin shots in. " Callies replies.

" I'm down with no dishonorable hits, thank you. " Jaden ripostes, " Save the groin shots for idiots that can't take a hint. "

Callie smiles at this, " What happened to all's fair in war, Jay? "

" This isn't war, this is practice, Cals. " Jaden retorts easily.

They start their spar off slow, but soon their staffs are clacking together at a fast pace as they both attack and defend. Their spar draws the attention of the other Slifer students, and the head of the Slifer Dorm Lyman Banner. Jaden swears under his breath when Callie sneaks past his guard and scores a point. " That's one for you, Cals. I intend to win that point back, " Jaden says as they back away from each other, and set themselves again.

They clash together once more, staffs spinning quickly, and meeting each other even quicker. The pair circle around each other tuning out their audience. They duck, dodge, weave, somersault, and flip their way away from attacks, even as their staffs clack together. As Jaden had stated he earned the next point, and Callie flips him off before they set themselves again. By the time Jaden earned the third point it was time for dinner, and the pair do their cool down exercises. Jaden smiles widely, " Hand to hand next time, sound good, Cals? "

" Sure, but after two weeks I'm waking your ass up early so we can get our daily run in again. " Callie fires back.

Jaden groans, " Weekends off from running so I can actually sleep in, dammit. "

" Fine, we do need to take a few days off from physical training after all, and it's not like I like getting up disgustingly early. " Callie says, " Save me a seat if you get there first. "

" Sure thing, Cals. " Jaden says, tossing the staff he used to her.

" You're helping me do the maintenance on the staffs, Jay. " Callie calls over her shoulder as she heads back to her room.

" Let me know when, Cals. " Jaden replies and races to get in a shower and change. Jaden makes it to the cafeteria first, and saves a seat for Callie, and once she's seated with her food Jaden barely waits to dig in for their Dorm Master to finish his welcome speech. Jaden is quick to introduce her to his other roommate Chumley Huffington while Syrus pulls out his Duel Pilot so they can look at the map for a general idea as to where their classes happened to be. The three freshmen also took a look at their schedules as well so they'd know where to go.

" Sy, to wake Jaden up you're going to need a glassful of water, and throw it from halfway across the room. Jay dreams in attack mode most times. First accidental blackeye I ever got was from trying to wake him up. " Callie warns the shorter male.

Jaden sends his girlfriend a glare, " Or I could just send Eria to wake you up. "

Jaden sighs at this, " Why do classes always start so damned early? "

" Adults revenge for them having to get up early for work. " Callie quips.

Jaden, Syrus, and Chumley all snort at that, and once they've taken their trays to the front, and dealt with their trash Jaden tugs Callie to himself, " Let's go explore for a little bit, Cals, there's still time before curfew. "
