It's been a week since the team arrived on the playground and Elliana was really starting to get used to where everything was. She liked here, everyone was nice to her and pretty much let her being on herself most of the time. She has started to really like Skye, she was always nice and cared for her, Phil was always also really nice to her. Melinda was nice but she was scary and Jemma was always crying or busy and Trip was just goofy and going in and out everyday. Skye was her favorite by far, she had given her chocolates the second day she was with them and she really loves chocolate but she was still unable to talk to them and was getting a little frustrated by that, she hasn't talk to anyone for almost a year but mainly because she is always to anxious and scare to talk to anyone back to where she was but here they were nice and she liked them, she wanted to say thanks to them for getting her new clothes and some stuff that she really liked but still the words wouldn't come out even though she really wanted them to go out of her mouth. She sighed frustrated again because she could not talk, she know she cans but somehow her voice wouldn't obey her.

Skye had given her a notebook with white pages and a box of crayons and color pencils, Ace had told her that she knows how to write so they probably wanted to ask her questions, and she was correct, Skye had sit down with her and Phil in a room so that they could talk well they did the talking and she most of the time wrote her answers. They asked at first easy things like her name, her birthday and other normal stuff but then they started to ask about the experiments and she just couldn't take it and let her mind take her to somewhere else and since that they haven't asked her anymore questions but they did inform her that she was staying there with them until it was safe for her to go out. She didn't understand what did they mean by going out, she had no family or anyone to take care of her, maybe the would let her alone on the streets or to an orphanage, who knows what they were thinking.

The team felt at loose regarding the little girl in their custody, Skye had managed to obtain information from the computers of the office were they had her and they have discovered all the things that they did to her. To their surprise they discovered that H.Y.D.R.A intentions towards the blonde child was to let her grown so that they could research her DNA and her powers, they were never sure what her powers were but they were completely positive she had some since the girl and her mother shared the same rare DNA and her mother was able to read minds by touching people but the girl have never made anything clear to them.

Coulson decided that was best for the child, for now, was to stay on the base with them since it was most likely H.Y.D.R.A would want her back and it would be very difficult and dangerous to hide her and Skye had been very opposed to the idea to put her in the system like her. It was a new thing for the team to get used to having a child around, but what make everything most difficult was that the child didn't make any sound or any sign to acknowledge any of them besides Skye whom she would sometimes would nod for "yes" or "no" to her questions. None of them have really interacted with kids besides Skye so she was the one that was assigned in a way to look after her, Coulson have commented that maybe with time she would come around and start talking to them since they were most likely sure that she could talk.

May was a little bit touched by the child, she was the age her child would probably been if Bahrain had not happened so she felt a little wary around the girl but that couldn't keep her from observing her through the shadows. Skye was doing a pretty good job taking care of her, she would put her to bed and give her breakfast and dinner and have tried several times to make her laugh or say a word but the girl was always with a blank expression on her face most of the time. Things were really difficult at The Playground, Fitz was still not waking up from his coma and Simmons was really starting to go crazy because she didn't know what else to do or how to cope with the fact that her partner in crime was in such a critical state.
Skye has come to her and asked for her to be her S.O. at first she didn't liked the idea but there was no one else to train the young agent and she wanted to make sure that Skye was not defenseless if she had to go again on the field. Coulson and Trip were gone after the day five on the playground to look for mor SHIELD survivors, May was tasked to stay on the base to keep an eye on Skye and Simmons, and the child. At first May was a little sensitive as to why Coulson would take Trip instead of her but later realized that if something went wrong and the base happened to be compromised there were three young adults and a child that would need immediate help to make it out safe. She was still not sure if making the little girl stay with them was a good idea but she didn't want to question Coulson when he has only been the director por seven days only.

Tai Chi was one of the only things that helped her calm and relax, so she has been doing it quite more often at least two times a day to calm her nerves of something bad happening to Coulson and Trip while they were out there. Skye have been keeping her company during her mornings of Tai Chi but during the afternoons she would keep herself busy hacking and investigating whatever Coulson had tasked her with; so her afternoons of Tai Chi were alone in the gym, it was a time were she really can think of everything of what was happening right now. Focusing on her moves was something she was always able to do, she was always alert so when a little blonde head come rushing to the gym out of nowhere and hide behind some of the equipment she obviously noticed but stayed quiet since she had noticed the girl liked to be alone and Skye can sometimes be a little bit overwhelming. Not many minutes after the girl hide herself in the room Skye appeared visibly stressed out.

"Hey, have you seen Elliana? God I was working on the computer in front of her and then Jemma called me to discuss something about doing her a check up and when I come back to talk to her about it she is gone" she gives a sigh of frustration and pas a hand through her face at the negative response from May of having not seen the child "how on earth did she know? I mean, she didn't follow me, because I would have know for sure if she had done that, and know I have no clue how to find her in this enormous base and Coulson wants me to buy him and Trip some thickets to get back, you know if you saw her tell me, I will check her room"

Giving a little nod to the young agent before she goes May decided that it was maybe enough TaiChi for the day, surely Skye was stress out so she need a hand "I know you are in here, and you better come out if you don't want Skye to have a heart attack because she can't find you".

To Melinda's surprise the girl got out of her hidden spot and stare at her for some seconds and before she can run out of the room May has already took her by the arm. "You don't have to hide from Skye she just wants to help you we all want to help you, come" putting a hand on her shoulder she guides the girl to the lab were Skye is with Jemma discussing possibly hiding spots for the girl and when May and Elliana enter the room a face of relief puts on Skyes face.

"Where were you? when I return to the sitting room you weren't there"

"She was in the bathroom, I found her coming out of it when I was going to help you search for her" The girl give Melinda a puzzled look as to why was she lying to help her.

"Thanks agent May, hey little one, do you mind if I give you a quick check up?" Jemma had stepped forward and has taken one of the girl's hand in hers as she speaks to her " I would just need to check is you are healthy"

As expected she didn't answer but searched for Skyes face to have a little encouragement when Jemma guided her to sit on a chair where she started to check on her pulse, her mouth and eyes. All three women were watching the child with curiosity, she was really small for being six years old but being held in a lab for more that a year obviously had something to do with that. When Simmons left her side to go on an prepare to prepare a needle to obtain a blood sample Skye moved to be at the side of the girl and stroke her hair to help calm her nerves. None of them expected to the child to go all pale when she saw the needle and to immediately make a move to be up from the chair but Skye didnt let her

"It's going to be okay, it's just a little blood sample" trying to calm her down Simmons stepped back a little to give the girl time to calm down. When she visibly was not going to calm down and tried to exit the room the three look at each other before May stepped in front of Elliana and took her in her arms carrying her back and sitting with her on her lap to let Jemma take the blood sample while Skye grabbed her arm to keep her from moving it. What make the task most difficult and rare was that the child didn't cry but was visibly having a panic attack in Melinda's arms. When Jemma finish the work and Skye let go of her arm, the older agent keep the girl in her arms letting the child decide when was ok to move but several seconds later her breathing was still shaky so the three adults were certainly at a blind of what to do.

"Its okay, it is done Elliana" May started to talk to the girl in an attempt to calm her down "Simmons is done, know you are ok and you can go and do whatever you like, no one here is going to hurt you we just want to make sure you are not sick"

"May I think she is in shock" Skye commented seeing the face of the girl, it was all pale and was having trouble breathing but her eyes were focusing on nothing so that make the two young agents really scare as to what was happening to the girl.

Melinda stood still with Elliana in her arms and left her sitting in the chair alone to stand in front of her and take her hands in hers, studying the child's expression and thinking on what to do to help her.

"Elliana, take a deep breath, Elliana hey look at me" the girl appeared to be in a trance, lost in her mind not aware of what was happening around her. With a sigh Melinda looked in Skye's direction with a questioning look "have you seen her get like this so far? I know she doesn't talk but this is like extremely quiet and obviously worse"

"I think when we first brought her here, she was so quiet and lost in her mind but I didnt question her since you know, we took her out of the only thing she knew for more than a year" Skye's response got the older agent thinking of a way to get the girl out of the state she was in. For a minute she thought about calling Andrew but she hadn't answered any of his calls in the past few weeks so it wouldn't be a good idea to call him just because she needed something.

"Elliana listen to me, focus on my voice only on my voice I know you can hear me" she turned her attention again on the girl hoping to help her know that some minutes have passed "You are safe Elliana, you are okay here no one in here is going to hurt you, Skye, Jemma and me worry about yo, we want you to be ok, no one is going to hurt you, you are safe here, no one is going to take you from here to hurt you, we won't let anyone hurt you." She continue to repeat the same words, trying to wake up the girl and gaining her attentions and little by little she was able to see how she was becoming more aware again. First her eyes focused on her hands, the way she was holding them and how her voice was really sweet and calm, little by little her breathing normalized and was able to focus on following Melinda's words to calm herself down.

Both Skye and Jemma were surprised to see May talking so calmly and patiently with the girl that neither of them could take their eyes off such an amazing scene in front of them. It was not normal to see Agent Melinda May, The Cavalry, calming a six year old girl in such a sweet and motherly way.

Since the moment she saw the needle Elliana began to panic, she hated test and she taught here no one would do that to her but apparently she was wrong. At first she try to run away but as always it didn't work so she did not put up resistance when agent May held her down and Skye grabbed her arm she didn't even move anymore but started to panic of think what other awful things they would do to her to discover what she can do. As always when one of her panic attacks her mind started to take her away, to show her places or scenes of people doing other stuff, she can be in that state for hours but sometimes it was just minutes. She did not realize when it was done or when Agent May began to talk to her but little by little her brain began to respond to the agent's words and she was aware again of what was happening. She looked at the woman with curiosity and fear, no one had ever spoken to her like this for so long, she spoke slowly and clearly, her face was still serious as always but she could see a hint of concern in him. When she was finally able to calm down, she felt terrible when she realized what had happened and how Jemma and Skye looked at her worriedly, they had done nothing wrong to her and they were scared when her mind took her away and stopped responding.

It had been a long time since the last time she had cried, she did it the day her mother said goodbye to her and she never came back, she never cried when they studied her or tried to force her to awaken her powers, her brain always took care that she was not present in those moments but right now she felt like crying, she felt like a fool but when no one cared about you for so long a gesture like the one the three women were having with her was too much for the girl. Without thinking she threw herself into May's arms and began to cry, to cry for all the times she had not cried in more than a year that she was locked up living in that hell.

May was not expecting at any time that the girl threw herself into her arms and began to cry, not knowing what to do she began to run a hand down her back in an attempt to comfort and calm her. Jemma and Skye looked at the scene in awkwardly, not knowing what to do or what to really say to help the girl calm down, Jemma finally decided that she was too uncomfortable so she came out with the excuse that she had to check Fitz leaving Skye alone with the agent and the girl. Eventually, after fifteen minutes, the girl's crying began to stop and she ended up relaxing in the agent's arms, who soon noticed that she had fallen asleep. Melinda motioned for Skye to help her up as she still had the girl in her arms and once they were on their feet both officers went to the room they had assigned when they settled the girl on the bed and tucked her in and sat right on the edge stroking her hair.

"I did not expect that" commented looking at the girl with concern "whatever they did to her left her traumatized, she was really scared when she saw the needle in Simmon's hand"

"I did not expect that either" commented the young agent sitting down and looking at the girl "I think…"she bit her lip for a minute, Skye can relate to the girl a little since she had lived a hell in some foster homes "that she was really surprised with how we responded to her panic attack that it was to much for her to handle"

"what do you mean? did we do something wrong?"

"No, no, but think May she lived more than a year in a laboratory of HYDRA, she was alone and with these...insane people that were experimenting on her, she is clearly scare of everything"

"Yes I know, she is just so little" she looked at the girl with sadness no child should experience what she suffered.

"We can help her, or at least we can try to help her, maybe she would talk to us some day"

"you think she can talk? "

"I guess so, if she couldn't talk it would have been in the reports"

"we can have faith that if she can talk she eventually would trust us enough to talk to us" she paused a minute looking again at the girl "go work on that think for Coulson, I would keep her company"

"you sure? I mean, I kinda of in charge of her I can work in here"

"It's fine Skye, go work I don't have anything important to do, I will stay here until she wakes up"

With a nod the young agent left the room giving one last look at the girl who was sleeping peacefully in bed, oblivious to everything that was happening around her. When Skye was gone May sighed looking again at the child, she was probably not the correct person to help this little one to overcome her demons when she could not overcome her own.
