"BUENAS NOCHES" - CHAPTER 2

"They're not picking up, H." Eric said as he'd called Wolfe for the eighth time in a row.

Horatio sighed. This was the last thing he'd hoped for. Right after the day Marisol gets shot, two of his CSIs vanish into thin air. Something wasn't right, and the lieutenant could feel it. He only had one of the three out of his team of CSIs, nobody had been in contact with them since they went back to the crime scene.

They went to A/V, where Cooper had pulled up the Hummer tracking system. Their Hummer was still at the scene as far as the tracker went. Which meant they'd left it behind. "You sure the Hummer is still at the scene?" Eric questioned his best friend, a little unconvinced.

"Positive." Cooper insisted.

"Back to the crime scene we go, Eric."

They pulled up at the crime scene, only to see the Hummer exactly where they'd left it. Ryan's gun was underneath it and a small bit of blood was in that same part. And on the other side, there was blood. But no gun. Their badges weren't there either. Nor Horatio, or Eric, had a good feeling about this. Ryan and Calleigh, two of the most dedicated people to their work, don't just vanish. They had to have been taken. But by who? That was the real question.

Horatio had a lot of enemies. It was no secret. While putting the bad guys away, he became the enemy of quite a few more. The lieutenant was a noble to the police form, but an annoyance to criminals who couldn't get away with much when he was onto them and their plans. The Mala Noche had been their biggest enemy for a few months now, and it was obvious they'd been going around murdering all kinds of people. Any that came close to going against them turned up dead a few days later.

But this, this was revenge.

Eric opened up the trunk to see that all the evidence was still there. Nothing that had been taken. Which proved they weren't after the evidence, they were after the CSIs.

Horatio picked up Calleigh's phone, no sign of Ryan's.

"They've been taken?" Frank inquired as he joined them on scene.

"It would appear so. Put out a broadcast. We're getting these guys." Horatio said, heading back to his Hummer.

Eric sealed an envelope he'd put trace into and followed his boss. As well as their case, they also had the rest of the team to find before they turned up dead like the rest of the Mala Noche's victims.

So when they got back to the lab, Horatio told Eric to get the fibre he'd collected to trace for immediate analysis and he'd taken the blood to DNA. They needed this to be done at the top of the lab tech's priority list. Horatio didn't want to lose his CSIs. Not then, not for a long time. He was going to do whatever it took to find them, but he didn't doubt that they'd be able to outsmart their captors. Getting them back was all that mattered to the lieutenant for the time being.

Eric got the trace to Aaron and told him it needed to be processed as soon as possible. News had already been going around the lab that Duquesne and Wolfe were nowhere to be found. So Peters had accepted putting that evidence to the top of his list and began working at an instant, while Eric worked on the trace Calleigh had found at the crime scene.

"Miss Valera," Horatio said as he entered the DNA lab.

Valera looked up to her boss, having been in a conversation with Boa Vista. "Could you run these blood samples for me?" He handed her the two boxes containing the swabs of blood from each bit of blood on either side of their Hummer.

"Who's DNA am I looking for?"

"Mr Wolfe's and Calleigh's." He answered nonchalantly.

Valera took a deep breath. The rumours were true. Ryan and Calleigh really had been kidnapped. "We'll do what we can." Natalia said. "Thank you, Miss Boa Vista." Horatio left the DNA lab and the two DNA analysts immediately got to work on the blood samples. Missing co-workers truimphed over anything else they were doing.

Meanwhile, Alexx rushed up from autopsy. She'd heard that Horatio, Eric and Frank were looking into the disappearance of their colleagues and had to find out just what was going on. So she found Horatio in the hallway, in need to talk to him. Horatio decided that it would be best to inform his medical examiner of some things so that she wasn't kept in the dark too much. Not even they knew much about the abduction of the two CSIs.

"Horatio!" Alexx exclaimed as she rushed over to him.

"Alexx." He greeted her solemnly.

The M.E. saw the worry that only showed in his cerulean eyes. "What happened to them?" She asked, almost in a whisper. Horatio sighed. "I.. I don't know, Alexx. That's what we're trying to find out. Nobody had heard from them since they left. Calleigh's gun is missing, Ryan's phone too.. same with their badges. Blood was found and.. there was evidence to suggest they might've been tied up."

Alexx sniffled. "Oh my god." She offered a hug, and Horatio took it. Because he really did need it at a time like this. Almost losing his wife, and now, his team. The two friends clung to each other for a bit. It was at times like this, where Alexx and Horatio realised how strong their friendship was. "They're great together. You know that, Horatio. They'll find a way through it until you find them." Alexx said, a little discouraged herself as they pulled back.

The redhead nodded. "I do know."

She ran a hand over his hair and offered a small smile. "Go take them down, and bring my babies back home."

"I plan to do just that, Alexx." He said, walking away to find Eric as he'd just been paged by the Cuban.

He arrived at the Trace lab not too much later and saw Eric and Aaron conversing with their results. "Okay guys, what do we have?"

"The fibre Delko collected from the Hummer is nylon, and it contained chloroform. That would've easily knocked both of them out for a good while."

"So they've definitely most likely been kidnapped.. what do you have Eric?"

"The white powder was cocaine. So whoever killed our vic, and most likely played a part in kidnapping Wolfe and Calleigh, was most likely a drug user."

The lieutenant nodded and tried to think of how it could all be linked. This was done by professionals. Horatio knew the Mala Noche would do anything to make him miserable.. but would they go as far as to take members of his team? He wasn't so sure, but right now, it seemed that way.
